  1. ok so asied from the size of the carbs whats the difference between the 96 engine and the later ones ? are the cams the same ? ect basically can i uprate the hp of a 96 easily ? aney one dun this ?
  2. this is one for sum-one with a grater technical experteas than me im afraid lol
  3. Yamaha only sell the slide and diafram as a unit so yes i replaced both is necessary to have the heavier springs from the 1300 with the replacement slides from Yamaha could be worth borrowing a set from a members 1300 parts bike and seeing how you go with them but may be to heavy with the original sliders think its only the early 1200s with the lighter sliders
  4. could be fun http://roadstercycle.com/yamaha_vmax_fuel_injector_cv_car.htm
  5. a set of 1300 springs fixt it yeha shes flying agane everdentaley the 1200 slides were lighter and the springs shorter go figer took sum working out that one :cool10:
  6. if you by diaphragms from Yamaha for an 83 1200 venture you will get part no 41r-14940-09 when you fit them you will have to fit new longer thicker springs as well CARB DIAPHRAGM SPRING. PART NUMBER- 1FK-14933-00 same spring as the 1300 if you dont update the spring with the new diafram it will yous lots of fuel and there will be a bad dead spot between 4000 and 5000 rpm
  7. yes fited new from Yamaha diaphragms and slieds fuel economy gone to **** and it wont pull anywhere near as hard and if i execrate real hard it backfires on desell
  8. was reading a service bulletin which sead that the 83 venture had lighter slides and weaker springs and if replacing a slide then a new heavier spring was also necessary well i replaced all my slides and diagrams but the recommend spring is obsolete bike runs ok but is only getting 28 miles to the Galen could this be due to the week springs ?
  9. so hows it coming along can we have an update pleass?
  10. have bean riding the v max for the last 3 weeks so glad to be back on the venture. had to replace all 4 diaphragms went the stock rout was $375 but its dun now and the old girls running better than ever. the old ones had bean bodged up with sum kind of very thin silicon that eventually failed :cool10:
  11. Can we see a pic of it over a first gen please
  12. Yes there made for a price the xxls that i tryed were just to small to fit the first gen properly at 65 inches long they had to be stretched and only came down 1/2 way to the axles. The xxxls are plenty big as can be seen as for shipping its free as far as im aware. Ventures were not sold hear so finding the big covers to suet has bean difficult. ps; to by one from the bike shop hear is like $75 with no warranty and there not a good venture fit whitch is why i posted this.
  13. cool diferent stroks just need to keep the sun off down hear it kills seats and pant work farly quick
  14. yes i tried several times to get ones big enough but they were only xxl so were to small the i found the xxxls and hay for 20 bucks with free delivery thourt they were great and cuver the old girl nicely

  20. every thing you wont to know CARBURATION
  21. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TERN A MOTORCYCLE WITHOUT LEANING IT JUST THE WAY 2 WHEELS WORKS TO TERN LEFT ON A MOTORCYCLE YOU NUGH THE BARS TO THE RIGHT AS YOU LEAN INTO THE TERN , IF YOU TRY TO KEEP THE BIKE UPRIGHT AND TERN THE BARS LEFT IT WILL FALL TO THE RIGHT TRY IT AND SEE IT HAS TO LEAN IN THE DIRECTION OF THE CURVE
  22. reading the service bulletins it seas the 83 had lighter slides and when replacing one you should replace the spring as well. but im hoping that replacing all 4 i may be abell to get away with using the original springs will let you all know how it goes failing that has anybody got the part number for the later spring 84 on
  23. finally pulled the trigger on a new set of diaphragms and sliders from Yamaha for my 83 now do i need to replace the springs ? our will the originals work ok with the new uprated diafram from Yamaha ? does any one know
  24. well they are right about it retaining Harley DNA 55-kW electric motor that produces 75 hp they could have made it fast but hay that wouldn't be in the Harley tradition lol will be plenty of this i fell to lol another Harley tradition :rotf:
