  1. Just finished reading your account of the last trip to Mexico on the Versi. Man YOU ROCK! What an adventurous mind you have:clap2:
  2. Time to replace brake pads and I am wondering which one of the following options you would recommend: https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/ebc-double-h-sintered-brake-pads.html EBC Double-H Sintered Brake Pads https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/ebc-organic-kevlar-brake-pads.html EBC Organic Kevlar Brake Pads https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/bikemaster-brake-pads.html BikeMaster Brake Pads https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/dp-brakes-standard-sintered-metal-brake-pads.html DP Brakes Standard Sintered Metal Brake Pads https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/sbs-hs-sintered-front-brake-pads.html SBS HS Sintered Front Brake Pads Thanks
  3. Was telling my wife about your adventure last night and how I would love to be able to make such a journey and she said to me "Why don't you take the summer off and do a trip through North America!" She had a big smile on her face too. Just not sure what to make out of that one....
  4. Looks like our friend has solved his leak issue . Still having issues with picture that turn sideway's . On my PC they are ok, but when uploaded they turn:bang head:.
  5. I'll offer this and I am speaking from my personal experience. At 17, my very first bike was a Yamaha XS1100 , yup. Before then the biggest bike I had been on was a 10 speed pedal bike. I am a big guy and was not interested in a smaller bike. I learned, passed my motorcycle test with it and rode that bike for 2 years without incident, but my big brother and father drilled one thing in my mind - DRIVE DEFENSIVELY. After 2 years I moved to a 1200 Venture and rode that one for about 4 years, but I forgot about the driving defensively thing and got myself in a bunch of trouble but was lucky :confused24:to not get hurt in the process. I finally sold that one as I figured out I had access to more horsepower than skills and brains. Did not ride for the next 25+ years. 3 years ago I decided I wanted to get back into it and got my current 2006 RSV. I did not take a refresher course (still intent to take it, but have not gotten there yet - did read an excellent book on motorcycle handling and it was all about DEFENSIVE DRIVING). I know, no excuses for not taking the refresher course. That first summer with the new bike was all about facing my fears and getting used to the new bike. It was only after 6 months that I finally started to be more relaxed on the bike. I have had 2 other seasons since and intend to keep on riding but as I make mistakes, I make sure I register them in my mind and think on how I could have avoided them. Also I am back to the mantra of DEFENSIVE DRIVING. Guess the brains have finally caught up with the available horsepower. So after all of this what I would say to your friend is to get the bike, take the refresher course or even a full course and please DRIVE DEFENSIVELY!
  6. Here is a first series of photos from jfman that I just received. Looks like there is an annoying slow leak that has developed. Why the second photo is upside down is beyond me as when I loaded it it was right side up. Also an issue with the next to last that is sideway's.
  7. Just sent you a PM with my email. Just send me your pictures and I will gladly post them here on this thread for you. Ride Safe and Enjoy!
  8. It would be impossible to do unless you had a lift. Even if ithad a centerstand, you have to get it so high for the wheel to clear that fender that the only way to get there is with a lift. I carry plugs and co2 as well as a small compressor. If I cannot get going with that, its tow time.
  9. Ya, we dodged the bullet here, hope our luck sticks. Only weeks away now!
  10. Also remember to only use a zero loss hand pump for the suspension. Otherwise you will blow out the bladders. I got mine at the local HD dealer for about 40 bucks.
  11. We weight about the same as you do and run the following: 1 up= 36 front and 40 rear for tires. 3 in front forks and 36 in rear shock 2 up= 36 front and 42 rear for tires. 3 in front forks and 40 in rear shock
  12. Thank you for the explanation....I will now put mine on even if I bought it . Half the protection is better than none:group cheers:
  13. What was the problem?
  14. Recover well sir....
  15. OK, all done now and all seems to be working fine:dancefool:
  16. Hit the upgrade now button and its been on a ''starting download'' loop for the past 30min. I am on high speed fibre op too...
  17. Ok, will be doing the upgrade this weekend. Anything special that needs to be done. Do I need to disable norton or disconnect external hd?
  18. Its normal as the pump needs to refill the bowls in the carbs. Like was said before, start worrying when you donthear those on start up. Usually hear it when bike has not been used for a while. If you use it regularly, you may hear 1 or 2 clicks.
  19. Have one that I bought (not a VR one) but never put it on the bike as I do not wantto jinx it....beleive it needs to be gifted to work right:confused07:
  20. Did you make sure that you aligned the notches on the plates?
  21. Nice!
  22. Here are a few additional shots for you....
  23. Nope...asked for it as colateral, but apparently there are privacy rules...LOL
  24. Ordered some parts for the RSV from Canadasmotorcycle.ca like I have done a number of times without a problem. However, this time after leaving me a delivery notice at the door, I went to the postal outlet and lo and behold, they had just given my packlage to a lady that has the same last name as me. Event with scan code technology and the requirement to sign and show identity, they gave her my packadge. Apparently she is expecting medication, she is in for a surprise when she opens it up and finds baron front fork bullet caps. So now I am out my order, they cannot get her to return their calls so that they could exchange the package. Maybee she found that the bike parts are better for her health than medication. I did call canadamotorcycles and they are now working with CanadaPost to try to chase it back. If it does not come back within 5 day's they said they would refund me or send another set. We will see...
