  1. Welcome to our world, these are great bikes... As for your questions(and just speaking from my experience): 1. CB use is not often. I have used it a couple of times during group rides when I coordinated with others that also had CB's but other than that NADA. 2. I got the headsets for the built in intercom as that was the cheapest way to go. Allows me and the missus to communicate when we ride. The wires can be a hassle sometimes though. 3. As far as value of headsets, you get what you pay for. I got the mid range J&M headsets and the sound is great on them. What I miss is the ability to communicate with others in the group that have wireless headsets, but again I do not do group riding that much. Hope this helps and welco0me to the site. You will find a great bunch of people ready to help on here.
  2. I have used Gorilla Tape before to build up an area. When I added the side markers back to my side rails I had to do this as the used ones I found did not have spacers. Unlike electrical tape, Gorilla Tape will not slip on itself as it is thicker. Cheap and easy solution!
  3. I am getting just a tad over 1inch.
  4. Dont know about the washers but on mine there is no gasket either. I make sure to coat the joint with anti-seize whenever I have to take them off and on.
  5. :95:Prayers and support sent..
  6. Just be aware that some of the cheap pumps do not have a check valve in them and you risk having a fuel leak into your cylinders with the resulting hydrolock. Rods get bent and then its major damage to the engine. That is why I went with stock. Also you can repair these pumps by changing the points. Thats what I did with my old one and kept it as a spare.
  7. When you go to start it, right after turning the key, do you still hear the fuel pump clicking. If not it would be the pump. If yes, check the gaz cap as suggested or it could be a clogged fuel filter.
  8. Ok but Michelin make a CMII 130 front tire so you do not have or want to reverse that one. Simpler and safer to install proper front instead of reversing a rear tire in front.
  9. Not to hijack the thread but I have to ask, why reverse rotation?
  10. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=video&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwijrt6b1q_MAhXlsIMKHYorCS4QtwIIKzAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DOk1TQ0beYOI&usg=AFQjCNGwk89u7Xob6aHL2wUrqqlTDznZmg&bvm=bv.120551593,d.amc Link to video. It shows how to replace friction plates and do the barnett upgrade. In my case I only did the upgrade as the plates looked good.
  11. It looks like your clutch is slipping. I had the same simptoms on mine last year in 3rd to 5th gear. I upgraded to the Barnett spring conversion kit and it solved my problem. Its an easy job to do it. Look in the tech section as there is a writup there on how to do it. Also do a search on youtube using clutch and venture as key words. Someone has posted a video onhow its done. I will look and add links here when i find them.
  12. I like WWs but I am not running them as all that is available in WW is crap (they don't last and handling is bad). I am on my second set of CMII's and got 12k on my last set and they still ran like new.
  13. Just to be clear though that Flyinfool is correct with not using the rubber booth.
  14. If it is on a 2nd gen you do not need to worry about the heat off the lamp as the heat sink will sit outside the headlamp housing. There is enough air coming through that area to provide enough ventilation. I have had one in for 3 years now with no issues.
  15. Oh not buying, happy with the RSV but bikes are on my mind I guess.
  16. And here are the results:whistling:they say I have it bad......
  17. Finally got to install the load equalizer from Big Bike Parts this weekend. It was a challenge to find a good spot to place it but I found a perfect spot under the passenger seat. Had to remove the foam pad from the fender and then was able to stick the equalizer on. Did my wire connections and all is working as it should. When using signals the unit does not seem to get more than warm, but with 4way's on it heats up a bit more. Wonder if it would work as a seat warmer for my wife... would need to be riding around with 4 way's on though Here is how it looks installed:
  18. They are hard to catch aren't they....
  19. Sorry, link is fixed now...enjoy!

  21. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?76515-2nd-Gen-changing-the-fuel-filter Take a look at this thread on how to replace the filter. Changing out the pump is the easy part and the filter is a bit more involved but easily doable. Just need to remember what hose connects to what. Also make sure petcock on tank is off.
  22. Never feel silly for asking question on this site....god knows I had a few of those myself and always got good help here:clap2:
  23. With the driver seat off you should see one bolt in the front of the rear seat. That is all that needs to be removed to get the seat out. Oups, as Freebird beat me to the answer there are 2 bolts.
  24. That is one of the first signs of the points failing on the pump, so you should take a look at them as you will be stranded soon.
  25. Same thing happened to me last year and it was the pump. These have points in them that tend to go bad. Take off the side cover Under the seat and tap the pump with the blunt end of a screwdriver. If it starts clicking and pumping, then you will know its the points. If that is the issue, they can be replaced quite easily. Here is a video on how it is done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gYH7EVbM8Y Here is the point kit you would need: https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/k-l-universal-fuel-pump-point-switch-kit.html In my case, I replaced the pump with a new one then replaced the points on the old one and kept it as a spare that I carry with me. It is a lot easier to just replace the pump if it happens again while on the road. I also replaced the fuel filter at the same time. A lot of people just go with a cheap replacement pump, but you must ensure that the one you get has a stop valve in it so that you dont get seepage and then fuel in cylinders that could lead to hydrolock and then bent rods.... Hope this helps!
