  1. Bought my 2006 in May this year and put 5000 miles on it this summer, it is now at 38000. Had an 84 from 84 to 87, was putting between 8 and 12 thousand miles on that one each year.
  2. Need to rant..I put the bike away too fast...they are calling for a warm weekend with temps in the 60s:crying: This after 2 weeks of below normal temps. Will probably fold and take it out:Venture: but will need to re-winterize it. Anyone in Maritimes thinking the same? Perhaps a meet and greet somewhere central?
  3. Does this happen every fall.....all of a sudden there is a lot of second guessing on this site. Before joining this site I looked at a number of other touring related sites and none of them compare to the quality of this site....I am open to change and opening the site to recruit new blood....especially if Yamaha does not come up with a new Venture.....but dont lose a good thing in the process.
  4. Its from the right side........right:big-grin-emoticon:
  5. no yahoos in New Brunswick.........really.....trust me......
  6. If it helps any, being a newby to the site after getting back into the saddle after a 20 year break from riding a 1st gen scoot, and getting back on in a 2nd gen.....I have found that this site has been the best scource of advice and answers to my multiple questions. Those who took the time to respond have helped me greatly :thumbsup:and that is continuing ..so I would hate to see this go. I have noticed that there is a lot of camaradery and teasing going on between members and I see that as very healthy...and sometimes hilarious ...keep that up also. I have seen very few negative comments, but when those come they seem to be very direct.....dont necessarily enjoy those....but sometimes honesty hurts.. Hope this site lives on and that seasoned folks (Sorry could not resist - I am over 50 BTW and just qualified for the Seniors Discount at Shoppers Drug Mart) do not loose interest and that new blood gets recruited to keep it going. I just hope that as time goes on I get the chance to actually meet some of the outstanding members of this community.
  7. Well, will depend on budget but looking at: - All LED lights including running and headlight along with a dedicated on/off switch on handle bars for driving lights (Looking at 3 switch housing that fits on top of master brake. - New highway pegs - looking at ISO's triangular mini board stryle - Harley rear light bar ...if I can find one...ones on ebay right now are junk - Front fork end caps - leather tank protector - new front tire (first on list to do for obvious reasons)
  8. Grips finally arrived last friday and I got around to installing them tonight. They look like the first picture above with the contoured throttle boss and end weight. On the clutch side I used a regular throttle boss to provide some support and end weight. Was pretty much as per instructions provided to install but had to remove the brake master from the bars to be able to open up the throttle housing. Took about 45min to do job. Used w40 to remove brake side and acetone to remove old glue from bar. Thanks to all who provided advice on this one as I was a bit intimidated by it until help and advice was provided.
  9. And here I thought we were talking about about a shield cleaner:whistling: Apple pie pointed me in the right direction though...... Never tried it but what would it taste like? Anyone care to share the recipe?
  10. With you on that one, our mayor here is a class act. Toronto Mayor has become a distraction and that is really sad for TO.
  11. Unfortunately M. Wagner passed away earlier this year. Before that happened i beleive he tried to sell his business. Does anyone know if that happened and if there is a chance that this grill could become available again?
  12. When looking at her videos there is one where she came to Fredericton. Wonder when that was. Even had pictures with our Mayor.
  13. Ya that. I had a lowering kit on mine that PO had put in and it was a major improvement in handling when i put the bike back to stock height. Do the seat mod. Good luck!
  14. Ya that. Using a ball head is the best solution to get it out.
  15. Well, I ordered them today, should get them in 5 to 7 day's. Nice winter project to install them.....yes bike is now stored for the season , but accessible to do the work. Thanks for the input folks:big-grin-emoticon:.
  16. Looking at replacing current grips and end weights with Kuryakin ISO grips with throttle boss and end weights. Are these thicker than the stock ones? Price including shipping and local taxes for all would be about $185 from Cruisercustomizing.
  17. Same question, why turn them off?
  18. Wow, wish I had your talent...going to be a great looking bike.
  19. Thanks for the advice, tried that but it releases all at once even with the slightest pressure, not even an inch. Will need to make sure I keep it balanced on tires when lowering so it does not fall on sidestand too fast. Thanks again,
  20. Duhhh, if the instructions mentionned something about it I WOULD NOT BE ASKING. Thanks for your very insightfull and helpfull suggestion though...geeessss
  21. Lifts are on sale for $60 this week at CND Tire. Just bought the 1500lbs model similar to the Sears one. Most folks indicate that this lift will slowly lower but when I used it today I could not get it to lower slowly, it just drops. Is there any way to adjust to slow it down?
  22. Ok thanks Only happpens when accessing through my Android tablet. Has not been happening lately.
  23. Nice looking bike.......would those hand grips be Kuriakin along with the weighed bar ends?
  24. Oh crap:snow2:, hope all will forgive me...promise not to do it again....
