If I had the time I would look at organizing something here in Fredericton next summer, but that is not an option for the next couple of years. However, would make a great day trip for some of the southern folks, its still sometimes cooler up here in the summer.
And its not just the deer that you have to look out for, when I had the 1st gen, I had a partrige go through the front wheel. No damage, but lots of blood, feathers and I needed new underwear .
Ok, thanks for that Freebird. Will drop that plan as I am not good with electronics and know nothing about CB's. Too bad, I really liked how those looked on your bike.....that Yammer Dan is now enjoying....
Is that a common problem? Mine had passing lamps installed, yamaha accessories, would there be a relay included when those are installed? If yes where would it normally be?
Thanks for the link, I had read through it but still have a few questions. I sent an email to FireStik and will see what they say. Here are the remaining questions in case anyone wants to take a stab at it:
I am looking at replacing my stock antennas on my 2006 Yamaha Royal Star Venture with Firestik – FireFly. I would have the following questions:
1. Can I simply change out the antenna and reuse the existing folding base and cable already on the bike? If not what are my options.
2. This bike has 2 antennas, CB on the left and an AM/FM on the right. It there a FireStik product that would match the FireFly that I can use for the AM/FM side?
I am looking at replacing my antennas with Firesticks. Can I simply unscrew the existing ones and replace with 2 foot sticks? Also what about the fm, what antenna do I use for that side. Its on a 2nd gen. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Final report - Was able to take bike out on a 200 mile loop yesterday and I am impressed with these grips. Would usually have numb fingers after about 1/2 hours, but took a 3hr ride with no numbness at all. Here is what it looks like with the throttle boss and end weight.
Just replaced mine last week with ISO's and used the Kuryakin end weights. Stock ones are about 3 times heavier that the Kuryakin ones. Did not notice any vibration issues but larger ISO grips made the numbness in the hands go away.
Hope this helps....
Ride was a blast:thumbsup: Was a bit cold but logged another 200 miles in the river valey, got to cross on a ferry and then back home on the other side. Stopped for seafoam and it was on sale:big-grin-emoticon: so I stocked up.....and no bugs to clean.....wow!
Probably last ride for sure now as heavy snow in the forecast later in the week:snow2:
Bike is out of storage and I am going out in 30 min..:big-grin-emoticon::big-grin-emoticon:.....need to grab more seafoam on the way back. Run it on high test all the time anyway so should be ok. We will see how cold weather gear hangs in.
Carefull now....2nd gens are actually able to hold on to their parts whille riding.....I also moved up from an xs1100 to a 1st gen then to a 2nd gen and find the 2nd gen to be the most comfortable and stable on the highway..better for avoiding all those HD parts littering the road..
