Watched the first episode of the series last night and I must say that I like how it done. This is no low budget series. Got my attention and interesting to watch if they truly are representing how the birth of HD really unfolded.

Had it happen to me 2 summers ago as I was visiting my sister (family gathering). Drove into the driveway and it was all freshly installed pea gravel. Front wheel dug in and bike slowly started to tip over on the right side. :bang head: Tried to fight it but in the end had to simply guide it down on the crash bars. Looked up and saw about 30 of my relatives standing there in shock! Did the next best thing, put my arms up and said "Ta-dahhh". Had lots of help getting it back up though.

Holly C*&?&, I was not paying attention to this thread so I missed all the fun. (Oups, just touched the religion and politics with that one...sorry! :whistling:) For what its worth, when I signed up for the site it was solely for getting access to the expertise of folks who were riding the same wonderful bike I had just purchased. I certainly got that, but I quickly realized that there was a true sense of fellowship and camaraderie between the members - especially the founding or long term ones. Although I can never aspire to get into that inner circle, I respect it and truly enjoy reading the different perspectives on a variety of topics. Yes, some are not motorcycle related, but I have the option of following those threads or not and it does not take away from the experience offered by this site. Enjoy!

Just renewed my subscription and with the exchange it came up to $15.94 CAD today. Still best $16 I ever spend every year. Keep up the good work boss!

Had valves ajusted last year and that calmed the vibration on mine. Curious, do you have a light bar up front? If yes do you have the spacer to allow easier fairing removal? If yes , it may be your lower deflectors vibrating if they cant seat properly on the forks.

RSTD Exhaust tip rotation
Bert2006 replied to Charlie01's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I know this is an old thread, but can you rotate these tips 1/4 turn only? I want the longer tip to be on the inside of the bike. Also, is it only one bolt to loosen? Thanks! -
Too funny.........I hung a guardian bell on the helmet lock on mine and once in a while I wonder why I hear bells at stop lights :whistling:

AIS on 2005 Venture:
Bert2006 replied to Rob Swallows's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You will hear mixed solutions on this one. The one I agree with is that disabling the AIS only conceals the cause of the backfires. Things to check include: Leaking vacuum tubes, leaking exhaust (especially the y pipe) or improperly synced carbs. I am sure you will hear from others also. When I had that problem, it was a syncing issue. -
WARNING THIS IS A RANT :bang head: I do not get how bold and disrespectful people are. Had to stop going to work on the bike last year after having someone literally unbolt and walk away with some chrome parts ( ignition cover gone and had partly removed one of the carb covers - must have showed up when they were at it so they could not finish the job - but only noticed it when I sat on the bike). This is in a parking lot next to my building with lots of walking traffic. Got the security cam feed, but they were wearing hoodies --- BASTARDS! Well, this Sunday I stop for gas at the end of my ride and as I am paying inside notice that someone is paying extra attention to the bike (it was parked at the pump closest to the doors). So I walk out and the idiot is trying to take off my VR flag from the back trunk. He has it almost twisted off the mast. The next part was not nice as I was holding my helmet in my hands and told him that it was about to connect with the back of his head. He looks at me and says - sorry, my son really likes your bike and wanted the flag --- ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What was said next I cannot write and I am not proud of myself for saying it, but he was told in no uncertain terms - in front of his son - that he was a thief, low life and the worst example as a father that I had ever seen. This guy was in his 30's with a 8 to 10 year old son next to him. Guess what the next generation will be up to based on the example provided. Sorry for the rant - just had to get it off my chest.......

I have been running the Commander II's for 3 seasons now and will not go back to anything else. The 130 up front has not resulted in any high speed instability and the low speed handling is very much improved. Before that I had a Metzler up front and a 404 in the back. Handled terribly with those. Felt all of the snakes and could hardly get one season out of the 404's. This is my second set, I replaced the front and back at the same time this spring and got 14k out of the old ones. Could have gone a bit longer, but was preparing for an extended trip and did not want to deal with it while on the road. I truly recommend them. Air pressure is very important for the handling on these bikes. I run 36 up front and 40 in back when by myself (rear shock at 35) . 2 up, I keep 36 up front and got to 41 in the rear(rear shock at 40). Front forks are always at 2.

My muffler adventure

As an update I am noticing that the engine is running a lot smoother with the RSTD pipes. Ran a bit rough with the RK and a lot rougher with the MOs. Fuel consumption has also improved substantially with the RSTD pipes. -
When I picked up my bike 4 years ago it had stock pipes that the PO has scatched to hell. Started seeking replacements with a bit more grunt to them. Landed a set of RK pipes, made the brackets to hang them and then got the wide clamps. Put them on and realy liked the sound of them. They were a bit more grunty but not too loud. However they kind of got to you on long run's. The misses hated them. So started searching again and landed a set of Monster Ovals:mo money: that I beleived would not be as loud. Boy, that was a mistake. Put them on and took a 2hour ride and took them of again. I felt like the kid in the car with the big woofers pushing bass all over the place. You could literally feel the thumping in your chest. Misses told me that as long as those were on she was not going to be...so off they came. Put RK's back on and kept on searching. Then I found a set of RSTD mufflers on eBay in pristine condition for $80. They came in today and I installed them tonight. It was like putting the stock pipes back on, no fussing with adapters or modified brackets. They sound like stock with abit deeper tone. Took a 2 hour ride and like them...and the misses is happy again. :Laugh:So now my stock room includes a stock set, RK pipes and MO's.

LED Directionals still blinking too fast
Bert2006 replied to clav_guy's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
When I did mine I installed a load equalizer for each corner and they work great. Self cancelling and 4 way's work well also. -
Installed RSTD mufflers that I picked up on eBay 2 weeks ago.

130 Tire Handling Problems
Bert2006 replied to WIZ's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
For me its a Commander II, did notice a front end wobble last year before I replaced it due to wear. Once new one got on it disapeared. Asside from that handling is much improved and weight rating of the tire meets specs for the bike.
