And here I am gathering the parts to do the Marshall mod on mine and all I would have needed to do was get these adapters?:bang head:

They do make the standard rear size for our bike in bias ply. The front one no. You have to go to 130-90 for the front. It is a bias ply and also reinforced-it is not as wide as the 150. Check out this page for sizes and weight ratings http://motorcycle.michelinman.com/tires/michelin-commander-ii#dim

I have 2000miles on a set on Commander II's and highly recommend them. Went for the smaller 130 front and handling improved substantially. They look like they are still brand new.

Quebec driver who stopped for ducks guilty in fatal motor cyclecrash
Bert2006 replied to KeithR's topic in Watering Hole
Totally agree that the rider has some responsibility. I have driven that highway a number of times and it is full of blind curves and very dangerous. Honestly in Montreal folks totally ignore the speed limit and if you are on a bike not following the flow of traffic you will simply be run over. Having said this, I would not even want to be in the left lane on that road as the speeds there are even higher. We had a similar accident to that here in Fredericton last year in almost the same scenario, but in that case all involved were in cars so no deaths. -

Unfortunately you cannot legislate common sense. Very sad for all involved, but you simply do not stop in the middle of a busy highway for wildlife. Stupid move that ended two lives. -

I ordered the parts I need to do the Marshall Mod on my 2nd gen and the order came in today but one of the items (12FT cable with a motorola plug on one end and a Pl-259 at the other end) did not come as they included one with a pl-259 and a mini 8 plug bcn instead. I called them right away and was very impressed with their approach. Essentially they immediately recognized their mistake, told me to keep the one they sent and indicated the right one would be sent out right away. About 15min later I got an email confirming it had been shipped with a tracking number. NOW THAT IS GREAT SERVICE:thumbsup: If anyone wants the wrong cable they sent, send me a pm and I will send to you as I have no use for it. Here is what it is. http://www.walcottcb.com/12-bnc-to-pl259-coax-cable-128xbnc29-p-210.html

Lights, horns & other stuff!!

You are welcome sir. Sorry you ran into issues with CC as that was not my experience, but so far I have not had any issues related to defective merchandise. -
I alway's wear overpants as well as either a mesh or textile jacket. I have found that Joe Rocket makes good quality stuff and I like their fit. The overpants I have can be worn all year. They have a removable liner as well as ventilation panels that can be removed. They are sometimes a bit warm, but they also protect from the heat of the engine. Here is a link: http://www.joerocketcanada.com/en/catalog/item.cfm?ItemsID=ebfb3b33-6ad9-4872-8a80-1a6c66b3c6fd Here are the Jackets I have: Ballistic 12 - Good for spring and fall, but too warm for summer even with the liner removed. http://www.joerocketcanada.com/en/catalog/item.cfm?ItemsID=ee6313a1-7ba7-495b-8324-24804cb4aa89 Phoenix 11 - Very comfortable late spring and summer jacket - even on high heat day's http://www.joerocketcanada.com/en/catalog/item.cfm?ItemsID=9aa8fcf9-2146-4edd-b7ea-326cdb6e0400

Ya, get a few of those at the start of every riding season in our area, but natural selection usually takes care of it in due time. Sad but just what happens.

Do I need to remove trunk to do Marshal Mod?
Bert2006 replied to Bert2006's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I had read it a number of times but obviously missed the following: On the CB cable, you will need the Motorola plug on one end and a PL259 plug which screws into the base of the Antenna Mount ... This cable is about 18" long and easy to install once you get the trunk loosened up to a point where you can lift it up and get to the CB. The CB lives under the trunk in a plastic box which is held together with two rubber straps .. Just loosen the straps and the top of the box comes right off. Disconnect the antenna cable from the radio, run the new cable in and plug it up ... Easy to accomplish. So I do not have to completely remove it. My appologies for bothering folks with a question when it was there all along. -
I have ordered all of the parts to do the Marshal Mod on my 2nd gen and am wondering if I will need to completely remove the trunk to plug the new cable into the CB unit. I know I will need to remove seats, gas tank and split fairing to run the new AM/FM cable, but trying to avoid having to completely remove trunk. Thanks

Great example you provided to that young man.
-
Yes they did - GREAT WORK. Now its time to provide support to the families of the fallen officers and for the community as the next week will also be a difficult one as they are dealing with the aftermath. One officer has been identified as a father of a young child with another one on the way. The others have not been identyified yet but one is beleived to be a father of three. Our hearts are with them and their families.

Ground plane or not for 2nd gen RSV?
Bert2006 replied to Bert2006's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Ok thanks. I intend to use 2 antennas . One for cb and the other for am/fm. -
Does the 2nd gen RSV have a cb with a ground plane or not? Or do i need to worry about if i am not replacing any cables? I want to replace my antennas with Firestik Firefly's 3ft'ers. I intend to also switch out the folding mounts as I was told that the originals would not be standard mounts that work with the Firefly's. Would be using the same cb antenna for am\fm side too.

VentureFar - He told me immediately that it has a load rating of 74 and that is not the 80 required for my RSV. He had another. RSV owner who was cupping and called michelin who told him directly that the mc2 is not recommended for the RSV and take it off. Michelin actually recommended the Shinto tourmaster. So per the factory I am not putting the mc2 on. Interesting since the Manual for the RSV calls for a load rating of 74. The bike came with a D404 from the factory with a LR of 74 same as the CMII's.. Time will tell I guess on how the CMII's will hold out. I keep them at a min of 40lbs back and 36lbs in front. From riding, I can tell you that the CMII's are way better planted that the 404's ever where. Also, scroll to the bottom of the page on this follwoing link for a comment on the Shinko's lower weight handling capacity when used up front - the rear one is Ok though. http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/?action=article&cat_id=002014&id=374 (Use copy paste to open as they do not allow hot linking):
