    Why me

If I remember right, he simply used two L shape brackets and used them to attach the top of the HD light unit to the bottom of the trunk. Looked for the post but cannot find it:confused24:. I used zip ties and attached them to the bottom of the trunk so that they do not vibrate and are supported from the top and bottom. You cannot see the zip ties at all.
  2. Replacing them is as simple as removing the faux fins and then taking the end of a used spark plug to pull the old one out and then pushing the new one in. No glue involved! Should take a max of 15 min to change one. The trick is to be ready to insert the new one fast so as to not loose too much coolant. Hope this helps! Never heard of them leaking in hot weather, usually when cold due to shrinkage.
  3. I will be replacing the points on my old fuel pump tonight so that I could keep it as a spare. To test if it is working after I do the job, can I simply connect the electrical wire from the bike without connecting the fuel lines? (pumping air) Or is there another way to do it. I just do not want to have to switch the whole thing in order to test. Thanks
  4. I usually waive to all when my left hand is not busy. If its busy i will nod. I do get a kick out of the few HD riders who try to take their wave back once they figure out that Big Red is not a HD. Also enjoy the look of young kids on scooters when I give them a wave and a thumbs-up...
  5. Had same thing happen to me when I bought my bike. Dunlop 404 that was brand new but had a cut line right in the middle and all around. Bike had been lowered and I thought it had rubbed. Turns out after talking with the PO that he had run it with only 15psi for a few day's before I picked it up. Outcome was that i could not trust the tire anymore and I replaced it. For me it was peace of mind!
  6. Is it the same all around it? If yes may have been run underinflated and has heat damage. No mater what I would not run that tire.
  7. Thoughts are with you sir, heal well!
  8. Have agreat 4th southern friends and ride safe!
  9. Remember the Canadian men's downhill ski team being called the Crazy Canuck's back in the day...Steeve Podborsky being one of them...
  10. Have a great Canada Day tomorrow fellow Canadians......and be safe!
  11. Make sure you get an OEM pump or one that has a check valve so that fuel does not get into the cylinders if the system stays pressurized. That can lead to hydro lock and destroy the engine. I beleive that the OEM pump simply allows the pressurized fuel to flow back as opposed to potentially seeping past the carbs and into the cylinders. Also, keep the old pump if its bad points and replace them and keep it as a backup as these tend to fail often. Good idea to change the fuel filter as it is easy to get to with pump removed. I will replace mine every 2 years or 20,000 km from now on
  12. Agree, same thing mine did when pump went last year. Remove you left side cover under the seat and then gently tap the pump with ignition on. If it starts clicking then points are gone and will need replacing or you need to replace pump. If it is clicking but pump gets overly hot then its gone. Search on the site using fuel pump as key words and you will get lots of info.
  13. I would change shop. That is a significant modification that they should have discussed with you first, if intentional. Also check the weight rating for that smaller tire.
  14. Great Job, you have talent sir...
  15. Just did a quick search on eBay for led headlamp bulb and got all kind of results. Most from china thatwould be leary of but some from US. I cannot vouch for any of them as I have not bought those. Perhaps other members could chime in?
  16. http://canadiancruisercustomizing.ca/ I bought mine here 2 years ago now and they have new models now, so I cannot speak for those but mine was a 2600lm output and their current one is over 4000lm. Some have had bad experiences with them, but for me it was positive. I know that there are now units sold at cyclegear http://www.cyclegear.com/search/go#w=headlight. Hope this helps:confused24:
  17. Yes, Very important to properly clean with alcohol, install and then leave your bags open overnight so that they could set properly with no weight pulling on them.
  18. DITTO on Commander II's - this is my second season with mine and I love them!
  19. See this thread - there is also a video showing the points. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?104162-Fuel-Pump-Points&highlight=fuel+pump And here is video on how to replace the points: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gYH7EVbM8Y
  20. The issue is that they need to push the filaments harder in these bulbs and they flame out early. They are warranteed for 12 months I beleive, but they are such a pain to replace that I gave up on them. I switched to a Cree LED that should now last substantially longer and provides improved lighting from the oem's
  21. I went stock and kept the old one as a spare once I repace the points on it. OEM has a check valve so gas does not drain through the system and into the cylinders causing hydro lock.
  22. Boy at $5.00 a pop this thread should generate a lot of funds:mo money:.
