  1. Gerald it does my heart good to see you with a second gen I knew you would come to your senses. keep up the good work.
  2. Unfortunitly low end torque isn't one of the attributes of the v4 engine. Short of having a set of custom cams made there is nothing you can do but keep the r's up.
  3. The mileage depends on your riding style and speed. 115 miles on a tank at 80 mph is about right. A slow cruise should yield 150-160 miles per tank. it sounds like yours needs a tune up.
  4. My son heard the sound bite and asked if it was a machine gun.:rotf:
  5. I would try flushing the system with fresh fluid first. If the fluid has absorbed enough moisture it will cause the symptoms you are describing. the moisture will boil when the scoot gets warm and cause air bubbles to form.
  6. Synthetic is just fine as long as it is motorcycle specific or none energy conserving.
  7. On the left side top of the case behind the rear cylinder there is a square rubber cover the bleeder is under that cover facing straight up.
  8. Show me some one who never makes a mistake and I will show you some one who has never done anything.
  9. If its blowing oil out the tail pipe chances of passing an emission test are slim to none. How much oil is it burning? You may try installing hotter plug and run it hard have the engine and exhaust hot and try to get it tested before it cools.
  10. Just forget it ever happened the chances that it will ever cause a problem are slim to none. If I had to wear ear plugs to ride my scooter I think I would invest in some mufflers.
  11. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  12. Very sorry to hear the tragic new let us know if there is anything we can do.
  13. Got every possible mile out of that one.
  14. I thought you made a post the other day that said a first gen would part out for about 3k so you have 2 first gens thats 6k you can buy a second gen for 6k.
  15. Ethanol at this point is a fairly in inefficient fuel source. A couple of years ago it was taking 1.5 gallons of petroleum to bring 1 gallon of ethanol to market. That is part of developing a new fuel source when we started using petroleum it was very inefficient. It takes time and money to build the infrastructure for a new fuel it will get more efficient and auto makers are now making multi fuel vehicles that will use straight ethanol or gas. There is no waist of fertile farm land the corn they are using is primarily used for cattle feed and after they make the ethanol the corn is still there and still used for cattle feed in a more efficient more digestible form. the bottom line is we have no choice we must develop alternative energy sources.
  16. I totally agree I could not have said it better myself.
  17. I run within a couple of lbs of max on the tire side wall. Once the oem tires come off forget what the manual calls for because that manual doesn't know what tires you are running.
  18. My cows do that it doesn't work very good.
  19. A relay is a magnetic activated switch. The purpose of a relay is to power High load items while controlling them with a small normal size switch. For example starters use relays also known as solenoid when you activate your starter you power a coil which magnetically engages a large set of contacts to power the starter. The reason for installing a relay on passing lamps is to reduce the load on your headlight circuit.
  20. Yep what Don said. buy avons end of problem.
  21. Allen I'm so sorry to hear the terrible news. I feel like I have lost an old friend and I am at a loss for words.
  22. That sounds like a great idea. We should get them all a nice wash bucket with a wash mitt, soap ,chrome polish and every thing else they will need to do there womanly dutys and keep our scoots clean and shiny.:stirthepot:
  23. I run all new or rebuilt engines under as heavy a load as possible for at least a couple hundred miles to seat the rings then just normal driving. I don't like excessively high rpm but heavy load.
  24. A two stroke engine will run without exhaust it won't make peek power but it will run. The expansion chamber does not increase exhaust flow it restricts flow like every other exhaust system. Its not the heat distorting and breaking the cylinder its the engine moving and the exhaust stationary that causes the the problem. The difference in the sled and our bikes is night and day. On a 2 stroke engine the exhaust mounts to the cylinder when you distort a cylinder it changes piston clearance and scores the piston and breaks the cylinder. Our bikes are 4 stroke the exhaust mounts to the head the head is mounted to a very solid block so stress on the head has little or no effect on the cylinder.
  25. What you are describing sounds normal to me. These v4s don't really get smooth under heavy load until you get about 3500 or 4k.
