There is no need to be intimidated by all the controls on a first gen because they don't work any way. They added all that junk to distract people from the poor styling and low quality. If you are lucky the engine runs.:rotf::rotf:

Just go ahead and start smoking again its only $350 a month you don't have anything better to do with that money. The doctor was lying to you its not that bad for you just cause you get short of breath if you try to run a hundred yards doesn't mean anything. If you continue with this nonsense you won't even be able to cough up a decent lugy. You wont get to experience that great tight chest feeling when you take a deep breath. You will be deprived of the burning desire to light one up as soon as you wake up. Your car won't have that great stale smoke smell. Your son is going to be less likly to follow in your foot steps who are you to deprive him of all that pleasure? You will get very bored waiting that extra 10 or 20 years to die. Those grandkids are going to be a pain in the ass anyway Go ahead light one up.

That looks like west texas day before yesterday. I guess we can't afford ammo these days.

The driving lights will have a switch that could be mounted almost anywhere I would look on the back side of the faring. Call the previous owner.

Good first gen? that would be an oxymoron.

Bondo is fairly flexible but it is better suited to dents than filling cracks. you would be better off using the glue you used for the repair or similar to fill the cracks.

I want that gun! I hope he has a good tour and a safe return.

9k for an 04 midnight is probably not to bad. With the current state of the economy you can probably find one a little cheaper if you do a little hunting. The midnight does have the chrome front forks and I believe a different seat they would be a very nice bike if they were blue. Oh and by the way you have just committed your self to a nut house welcome.

I think last I heard he was working long hours at multiple jobs I hope he is doing well.

Its just a first gen no big loss now you can upgrade to a real bike. Now calm down I was just picking at you a little I really hate to hear your baby got assaulted.

I remember sleeping on the ground with a cheap sleeping bag with 4 inches of snow on top of it we couldn't afford a leanto and there wasn't much sleeping going on just a lot of shivering while waiting for sun rise. Those were the good old days.

I was about to call the boys in the white suits and have them bring you a nice jacket with very long sleaves.

Ornery or Cantankerous would work.

Stick to your guns and make sure he never does it again. I know it is probably the hardest thing you have ever done but I have no doubt you can do it.

A warranty is a warranty and it covers defects in parts or workmanship. A warranty does not state that they will repair damages caused by missuse or abuse or lack of maintnance and that is what caused this failure. It is the operators responsibility to make sure the fluid levels are full that the fluids and filters are changed. If the cooling system has mechanical problems it is the operators responsibility to have it repaired under warranty or otherwise. the bike in question is 5 years old and I will guarantee the cooling system has internal and external bolckage and that is a maintnance issue not a product failure. Every vehicle manufacturer has in their warranty that none factory aproved modifications will void the warranty. A trike kit would fit into that catigory. I don't believe the trike kit is the cause of this problem but the extra load is a contrubuting factor. These bikes have plenty of power and durability to handle the extra load under normal conditions. I have seen hundreds of scored pistons and I have never seen one that failed because of a defective part in every case I have seen it was caused by lack of maintnance or abuse. I hate to see this happen to the owner but it is neither right or apropriate to expect yamaha to pay for it or to try to blackmail them to get them to pay for it. Yamaha provided a good dependable product that has give good service for 5 years if it was a defect in parts or workmanship it would have failed long ago. this is just my opinion.
-
I hope you get your power back soon that has got to be a real pain.
-
That piston is scored from lack of lubrication usually caused by over heating. when the cylinder temperature gets to high the oil film gets thin and allows the piston to contact the cylinder causing the scoring. If the piston clearance was incorrect it would have failed long ago. I would bet that the other pistons are scored as well. I hate to tell you this but that damage was not caused by defective parts or workmanship and yamaha is not responsible for the damage.

I stay positive all the time this down cycle will bring new opportunity for me. I don't have to worry about a job I just started a new business because I am always looking for a new challenge. I already have several businesses but I am bored with them so I found an other opportunity and I am headed into a new challenge. I believe you get out of life what you put in it. I believe if your life is a constant struggle you should look in the mirror to see the problem.

I will get a bad attitude and go on a new diet from time to time. The sad thing is the news story's I have first hand knowledge of are always wrong to some degree, the morons can't even get the story right. I believe the news media has way to much influence and push their agenda rather than reporting news. Even if you know it is wrong if you hear it enough you will start believing it.
