2015 riding season, what did you do for milage this year?
gez replied to Brake Pad's topic in Watering Hole
Guesstamet, 9,000 miles this year. Several thousand less than last year. -
Sounds great. When?

It was an early 5:30am start, a 65 mile ride to the distribution center graced us with two 10 minute periods of substantial rain. During the next hour bikes just kept arriving. Walmart fed us a continental breakfast and after a safety briefing we saddled up and headed to the cemetery. All 125 of us. The trip was without incident and impressive, as indicated by many bystanders filming the ride along the way. In less than three hours after arrival, four trailers were unloaded, boxes were opened wreaths were counted and staged at each section of the cemetery. After cleanup, and a quick lunch we left without leaving a trace other than the 15,000 neatly stacked wreaths ready for placement on Saturday. I was shocked to learn, on average, seven of our Nation's Heros are interned at this National Cemetery EVERY day.

I'm involved with my local PGR group, we're meeting tomorrow at 0500 to head to Ft. Pierce to escort Walmart's trailers to the National Cemetery in Lake Worth. We'll empty the trailers and stage the wreaths in the different sections. Saturday we're at it again, placing a wreath on each of the 15,000 grave markers. It's a huge undertaking and I'm proud to be a part of it. http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/

Taconic State Parkway, upstate NY. On the Honda 350 mid afternoon, wife on the back, coming home from a party after working a midnight tour. Things are going well until I get a big squeeze around my chest. "Where are you going," she said. I had fallen asleep and jumped the small curb and was driving on the grass. Thank God she was there to wake me up. That was the first wife, she never got on the bike again.

I joined this group shortly after buying my '08 RSV (6/13) and have found the information and assistance I've utilized invaluable, worth much more than the $12 a year membership. I've had the opportunity to personally meet a few others here on the site and always felt welcomed and had a great experience. My opinion, leave things the way they are, ride this wave as long as possible. I'll be here till the end. Either mine or the forum's.

Lets go back in time,, how old were you when you got your very 1st bike?

1969, 18 years old. Honda 100. -
I'm not sure if it's from the same manufacturer, but I put one in my pickup bed 9 years ago, it's starting to show its age. Aside from rain, it gets wet often, I'm careful with respect to liquids. It's handled construction debris, firewood and anything else i've needed to transport after laying out a tarp. For normal everyday family use, I wouldn't be without it. If I bought another pickup, I would install another. Installation is simple, velcro holds it in place.

I'm thinking fly out to LA, spend 13 days traveling north to Seattle drop it off and fly home. It might not work exactly that way, it's just an idea.

This is the first I've seen this. Club Eaglerider lets you rent a motorcycle right on up to a full dress Indian once a month for $29 a day. Requires a 12 month membership. A great way to test something new each month on the cheap. It appears you can save up your 12 rentals and use them all at once. Twelve days on a Roadmaster for $360, thirteen if you schedule around your birthday. http://www.eaglerider.com/membership?gclid=CKLj-_Ha98gCFUMWHwodkaAIyg

I noticed it in the lot and had to turn around to get the photo. I'm hoping it was built as more of an art piece than a functional mode of transport. I don't think I could pedal it very far.

Living in Florida, I ride almost everyday for pleasure, I'm retired. I've logged close to 30,000 miles in the last two years. Only had to call a tow truck twice. For other members of the group who were riding those big American twins. Luckily for them there's dealers everywhere.

Now days, at 64 years old, when I'm on a motorcycle I'm not in a hurry to go anywhere. Back in the 80's, I was in a hurry to go everywhere. Got stopped more times than I could count in triple digits. I'm not sure if it was luck or skill that got me out of situations I put myself in. Most likely a combination of both.

Friday I found the sludge in my overflow tank on a pre trip inspection. Dayton bound I was, only left an hour later than I wanted, couldn't get into the storage shed to switch bikes until 6 am.This afternoon I emptied and cleaned the tank, drained the radiator and water pump. I was surprised to see clean antifreeze drain from the pump and radiator. My research here after this afternoons work has me somewhat relieved. I thought a blown head gasket was my problem. Water pump seal, is a relief. Is this $3 Oil Seal part # 93101-10090-00 all that's needed to fix this?

Not all apples in the bushel are bad. My Venture was a long distance Ebay purchase. The bike was everything the seller stated and more. He picked me up at the airport and an hour later I was on my way home. A 1200 mile test ride.

1st job employment experiences,, oh those wonderful first jobs..
gez replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
As a young teenager my first employment was at my Dad's luncheonette. I played soda jerk and short order cook many years, had to quit the track team senior year to work. Got married at 20 and joined the local police department starting on my 21st birthday. Put in my 20 years with all sorts of part time jobs during. Retired at 41 and relocated to Florida opening a moving and storage company. Sold that about 6 years ago, been enjoying life since. -
What an awesome production, photos are GREAT. Love the motorcycle element in a lot of them. I've wanted to take a trip like this for a long time, that's why I bought my Venture. Watching this has heightened my desire, it won't be long before I head out. Thanks for sharing your journey.

WOW. Glad this worked out as it did. Could have been MUCH worse.

I hope this doesn't constitute hijacking a thread. I found this camping special this morning: Come and stay with us for 2 nights in a RV or Tent Site and get tickets to Lion Country Safari. This would be good for up to four people on one site, 2 nights of camping, and 2 days admission to Lion Country Safari for all of you for $150.00 plus tax. This will expire on December 31, 2015. Not valid on Memorial Day Weekend, Labor Day Weekend, Halloween Weekend, or Thanksgiving Weekend. http://koa.com/campgrounds/west-palm-beach/hot-deals/#CB This is at a KOA adjacent to Lion Country Safari in Loxahatchee, Fl. Four people on a site breaks down to less than $50 each including tax. We could plan something for later in the year when the weather cools down a bit or do it now . Nighttime temps are 75, daytime 90+. It's only a twenty minute ride for me but I'd love it, haven't been there in years. A 200 mile day trip around Lake Okeechobee is a nice ride. The beach is close. Worth Avenue on Palm Beach is an experience.

What an easy fix that was. Thank you all!

Thanks for the quick reply. Oiled it up, seems a bit better. I'm on the way out to burn a tank of fuel and see what happens.
