The time of it's evolution and the technology that was developed just to bring it to life is an amazing stories... It's mission accomplishments will leak out bit by bit and we will all be a bit more astonished. When you read published performance numbers... just smile... remember, some people keep secrets.

I've got two 85 pound boxers inside and I haven't set the security system in quite a while... Come to think of it, the Jehova folks haven't been by either... hmmm...

I'm with Gary, I don't think you need to remove anything if you can get down and see underneath. Break the linkage free from the shift shaft going back to the tranny, rotate the shifter shaft so the pivot arm on the shift shaft pivot is down and the notch on the end of the shift shaft is as well and then align the heel-toe bar so it's "neutral" when the notch is straight down and reattach the link rod between the tranny and the shift shaft so the heel-toe bar is balanced to the floorboard. If visual is a problem then just pop off the middle gear cover and stuff a bolt back in the lower hole position to stop oil seepage (probably need a new middle gear gasket).

The first thing I would do is pull and check the condition of the plugs. It's the start and end point of diagnostics. -

Lowering Seat height?
mbrood replied to HotRodYJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The air attachment on the tubes preclude raising them in the tripple tree... but you CAN reduce the preload spacer a bit (I am a bit of a light weight and it rides just fine.) -
Carb Slide Vacum Hole Location

I don't believe there is any orientation, it's simply a metering hole so rotational alignment is not important... but as you know, the diameter sure is! -
Brad, there are no numbers on the boards or the mount flanges. I sized them against my 84 and 86 and they fit neither and Markland said that they can't index anything that is out of production. These are in cherry shape but for a Venture utterly worthless.

I was sold these as going on a MKII 1st Gen bike and since I have a MKI as well I can verify it goes to neither... any help out there with finding their proper use? http://www.bergall.org/temp/venture/floorboards/mc1.jpg http://www.bergall.org/temp/venture/floorboards/mc1a.jpg http://www.bergall.org/temp/venture/floorboards/mc2.jpg

A good message to us all... you REALLY can't normally tell that you have major restrictions until they get to that really small amount of passage and then it can hit like a Mac truck... we all should get regular checkups and know what our lifestyles lead to for most. It's hard to give up on some of the tastier things but i'd rather enjoy life on this side of the grass a bit longer.

The lower bracket for the bike is different from MKI to II but the upper part is the same... but finding those lower brackets for the MKI is getting difficult to get!

You need to verify the resistance readings of the pickup coils and insure none read to chassis ground when they are disconnected from the TCI. To some extent the TCI is repairable if it's simply the output transistor or protection diodes, otherwise you are in need of a simple replacement for the whole unit if the pickup coils check out.
