Yessiree!! I have had 2 Metzlers fall apart on me. I'm lucky the last one made it home. I was hauling butt pretty good and noticed a chunk of the tread missing the next day. the first one disintegrated on the way to work, but did it gently.

Cruise Control Not Staying Engaged

I can't believe that ANY part through Yamaha could possibly cost less than shipping, especially since they never stock anything for the RSV. Good post, though. -
Actually, I strap my tank bag to the trunk rack and only use it if going on a long trip. I would not ever use it if traveling 1-up. I can take everything I need personally in one saddle bag, but the wife needs the equivalent of a Winnebago.

After much bother I finally got the Kumno beaded on the rim. The first tire would not come up all the way around on one side. The folks At Discount Tire swapped it for a new one. Same problem, but on the opposite side of the rim. After everyone pretty much gave up, I contacted a truck tire repair shop. At least he wasn't afraid to squeeze a bunch of air into it. Previously I had gone up to 100+ psi. He had a can of some really slick stuff called "Bead Breaker". That and about 120 psi or so and it finally popped on completely. Now, after about 15 miles of riding on it I think I'll have to play with the pressure. I am running 35 psi and when accelerating in a turn it feels like it wants to slip a bit. Maybe drop the pressure a few #s and try it again. Otherwise it's great.

Uh -- none without some major overhauls.

Thanks guys, but the tire has been left in the sun, in a hot closed up vehicle, and all a few times. Gonna drop it off at some independent tire shop and leave it with them. As Curtis said, maybe they will get frustrated enough with it to really pump some pressure in.

OK Trying to the Darkside and can't get past dusk. I got the Kumho, went to CurtisMiller's place since he knew of a tire shop that would install it, and them tried to complete the job at his friend's shop. Anyway, the tire shop wussed out at 100# and it wouldn't seat completely. We ran it up to 120# (we think - can't trust the gauges) and no luck. Tried numerous times to break the bead and start over. It's perfect on one side and about 80% om the other. Any ideas???

I was just looking at the repair manual for rear wheel removal procedures and could not help but think it can't be required to just about disassemble the whole rear of the bike to get the wheel off.

I picked up the Kumho yesterday for $65. They wouldn't mount it tho. I am talking to a couple of folks, but I need to drop the rear wheel 1st. Borrowing a jack from a buddy. I can't wait to not have to worry about those BS bike tires that will go flat running over a thumbtack. Also getting the dynabeads and they may mount the tire. Only bummer is they are about 60 miles from me. Oh well, pack a lunch.

Footsie -- Yeah, the lifting method is good, but I do not have anything to attach straps to. Guess I'll just buy a jack for it. Curtis -- When I finally get the wheel off, do you think the guy who mounted yours will do mine? The dealer I bought my tire from said he really didn't have the equipment, which doesn't make much sense to me. I go to Waxahachie at least twice a week to rehearse with my band, so a little extra drive is no problem.

Getting the Kumho, as I am done with the crap they make for bikes. Now, if onle I had a lift, the right tools, and a mounting machine. Anyone in the Dallas area that can give me a hand? It would be appreciated.

I've had it with the m/c tires . Am getting a Kumho for the rear and could use some advice on mounting it. I do not have a mounting machine and probably not the correct tools. My Metzler is missing a chunk. Sure wish I had a lift. If anyone near Dallas can help it would be appreciated.

Some Tips on Changing the 2nd Gen Coolant

Goose -- I'm up for it also. You helped me with my clutch spring. I could make it over just about any time. Let me know. -
Shoot, my job closed last September. I can't even get a call for interviews. Hang in there. I hope something pops for all of us soon.

I am looking for a handlebar damper for the left side of a 2nd gen. Mine apparently decided to exit stage left yesterday. Don't really want to spend $24+ to the dealer. It would be great if someone in the Dallas area has one so I could just pick it up. Yamaha is sure proud of their rubber parts, as I spent $14 to replace the ring around the ignition switch.
