Shure could use them! If you don't mind could you send them up to bongobobny? I'm having everything I can sent to him then I'm going to go pick up there. Thanks Gary. looked at Partshark.com and the part is cheaper. About $70 dollars cheaper ! If I am unable to find a good used one I'll order one from them.

Got it covered, valve cover donuts, and thanks for the heads up on using 2nd Gen gasket on valve covers.

Well I am finally getting back to my carb rebuild now that I have everything I need. I have one set of two done and back together. didn't like the looks of one of the pilot screws and found that someone had lost the washer off one so replacing all of them with new sets. Also didn't like the condition of pilot jet in the jet assembly block so replacing all of them . Replacing all the gaskets. Replacing all screws except those used to make adjustments with SS cap screws and SS button head cap screws. With luck I'll have the carbs all done tomorrow. Just waiting for new throttle and petcock, my brother has them and is shipping them to me. Also need to check valve shims and install new cover gaskets. I have a new gas tank and will install that as soon as the petcock arrives. Will clean old one out this winter and will keep if anyone should need one. So with any luck I'll be able to try to start the "Beast" as my wife calls it in about a week.

Thanks for the links I sent them an email about the part I needed they didn't reply so I wont bother with them. I'll keep looking on Ebay for what I need. Or buy a new one from Yamaha:mo money:!

The last person who had the bike on the road had done some work on the clutch/gears. The last person who owned the bike was not absolutely sure what it was he had done. But it was done just before the original owner died. And the last owner just prepped the bike for storage and basically left it. He believes it was something to do with the gears and I'm sure it has something to d with the fact that the bike has a trailer hitch on it. So he must have been towing one and need to repair or upgrade the clutch/gears.

Well I know I cant offer any more advise then you have already gotten. But for my two cents I'd bet you have stuck needle vale(s). Nine times out of ten that's the problem. What I did to fix it on my 83 XJ750K is pull the carbs. The carbs on the XJ require a lot of pulling twisting to get out and a 2X4 to get back in. These carbs are a dream to remove and put back. Anyway back to my fix. Remove the needle valves. You know the ones that are connected to the carb floats. Now either replace with new ones OR get some 1500 grit emery cloth and sand the corners a little. then replace them and turn the carb to the position it would be if on the bike and see if the needle falls out on its own. It should, after you have done this with ALL of them set/check the fuel levels with the carbs set perfectly flat. As if they where mounted on the bike and hook up a fuel source, gravity feed. Then check to see if the fuel level is correct. If the levels are set right there should be no fuel flow out of cabs if the float needle valves are working. I would try this first before I did anything else as sticking float needle vales are the biggest cause of your problem. If you weren't so far away I'd be over there like a shot and help you fix them up.

Have any of you dealt with Stoker Motorcycle Parts in CHULA VISTA California? They may have a part I need. A right side Terminal Panel. Any information on how they are to deal with would be helpful. Thanks.

Do you have car battery around? I'd pick up a cheap marine battery and a couple cables and hook that up before you kill your bike battery by constantly charging it! They're not built to take that kind of abuse. I keep a 600 amp marine battery around for doing just what you are doing. Buy, beg, borrow or steal one and see if you still have the problem. Pull the battery out of you car if you have to. At least this way you will know if its your battery or not!!!

I have a Gremlin that keeps stealing my copper washers for my clutch line. Every time I turn around he steals another one. He's got two today and I've had to stop working on it until my new ones come in! Damn Gremlin's!! Guess what I just found out that Gremlins must be afraid of my wife! She came out to help me find the missing parts and guess what. She found them right where them Gremlins dropped them when they saw her coming! I know it was the Gremlins because I was nowhere near that part of the garage when they disappeared.

Actually that's the LEFT side Terminal Panel! Just got one from FleaBay for $25. Its the one the radio and tape deck plug into. I've seen a number of them listed as right side for some reason.
-
So what happened???? Did you buy it or not?????
-
OK, thanks for checking for me. I'll just keep looking.
-
Ya, I'm thinking about that. The plan is to 1 get the clutch working so I can shift the gears. Then 2 finish up the carbs, waiting on new SS cap screws to replace screws on the carbs. Then 3 replace valve cover gaskets and check valve clearances. Then 4 get bike started and clear up any problems relating to the bikes running. Then 5 repair and replace plastic parts as needed. Then 6 replace the tires and brake/clutch lines. Then 7 road test bike. Then !!!

Now that's FUNNNY!

Bump; Still looking for one.

The best part of having grand kids is spoiling them rotten then sending them home!!! Congratulation's!!!! :sign **** happens:

I use one and it has a solid bottom and mesh on the sides works great! I think it was made by KEURIG, at least it has there name on it. But anyhow it works great!!!

I now have everything back together and re-installed on the bike. The brake lines I took all apart blew air through them then ran brake fluid through them and blew them out again until nothing came out but brake fluid. Made sure everything was clean.

Its the very top panel on the right side console. It has the CB Radio and the air pressure display mounted in it. Here's a picture of it with the CB in it. Thanks for checking.
-
No its not the stock fuse panel unfortunately. Its the panel that you mount the CB and other goodies into. I have ordered NEW L&R console panels. $77 dollars each from Yamaha. The Terminal Panel, Yamaha #59J-28221-00-00, is $205.38 from Yamaha Canada.
-
Does anyone have a spare terminal panel for and 86 VR? The one I have is in sad shape. Broken in one spot and a couple of the holes for mounting screws are broken out. This is, I hope, the last piece that I need to replace:confused24:. Thank guys.

I hope this works! Pictures of me and wife on XJ and me and my best friend (Killer...AKA Roxy) taking it easy.
-
Good thing too, the old one is disintegrating!! The center has rotted right out of it! Checking with my parts guy from another forum. The lens appears to be the same as the one from my XJ. If so I'll get them from him. $15 is kind of steep for a lens that can be held in with gasket cement. If its the same as the one for my XJ I can get two for that price!

TRONTO's the pride of Canada I'll have you know!!!!!

OK Marcarl will do. Hope to be in position to try and start the bike next week! :)But need to replace one of the throttle cables first.
