Never thought of the type of helmet, I mostly ride with a Bell shorty, but do use a modular from time to time, the better half use a open face with i visor that flips up. Thanks

Interesting post, I was wondering the same thing about which Headsets are preferred. We just picked up an 02 Midnight Venture. Look forward to what people like and don't like about the different head sets

For my 86, I used Kicker 4" speakers, they sound great, they were model CS4. Even better bought them at the local Future Shop here in Hamilton.

Thanks for all the tips. I will take the fairing apart and disconnect and clean to see what happens then. Thanks again. Mike

This past week I tried the CB on our new to us 2002 RSV, the person we purchased it off said they didn't have the head sets and never had any interest in using the CB. Just for kicks and giggles I thought I would see if at least I could receive with the CB, when I turned it on I would get a CB Err message. I have disconnected the 2 wires under the passenger set that go to the CB unit under the trunk and have also disconnected the battery to see if it would reboot the system, but have n't had any luck with either. My next step I would guess would be to check the connections in the fairing, has anyone else had this same message. Thanks in advance for your help. Mike.

Filling the rear shock

I guess we are both in the same boat, we are picking up our new to us 2nd Gen today, as for the pump, my 86 is a standard, I found a hand pump for the suspension at a local Motorcycle shop here in Hamilton (was actually Pooles, paid an $5.00 for the HD logo on the pump). My local Yammy dealer could get it but they had to order it in and I neededit the same day. YUou can also find them on ebay. Enjoy your new ride. Mike. -

2nd Gen questions

Thank you. Mike. -
I am looking at a 2002 RSV, and will probably end up buying it, but I have a couple questions. Do the 2nd gen Ventures have air in the front and in the rear suspension if they do are they like my 86 standard meaning I have to use my pump to increase the air, and also are the brakes linked like the ones on my 86. The 02 Venture I am looking at is real clean and appears to have been well looked after, plus the price is right, but I forgot to ask the owner those 2 questions. Thanks in advance. Mike.

Canada Day Ride, SW Ontario Niagara Loop & BBQ
stickhandle2 replied to Wizard765's topic in Watering Hole
Hi Everybody, saw you all enjoying your BBQ along the Niagara Parkway just outside of Niagara on the Lake. My daughter and I were out for a ride doing the Niagara Parkway from Fort Erie back through Niagara on the Lake into St Catharines and then back to Stoney Creek. Hope everybody enjoyed their ride and the BBQ Mike -
Correct way to measure the windshield
stickhandle2 replied to Barrycuda's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My 2 cents, but I ride a 86 Venture, I had an aftermarket windshield on mine (don't know the brand but it is a bit wider at the base then the OEM windshield) it was 24" tall from the bottom up the middle. I couldn't see properly through the top part of the windshield and when it rained forget it, I was gonna order a new one through a company called CEE Baileys, they had different sizes my preference was to go with an 18" shield so I could see over the top easily. Instead I had mine cut down 5 1/2 " by a local plastics shop, they did a great job on it hasnice smooth edges, it looks great. Yes I now get some wind in my face but I am ok with that as it is not alot, the biggest difference is my wife gets more now around her shoulders when she comes along for a ride. In total it cost me around 50.00 but I think it was money well spent, even in the rain I can now see, so I have to turn the radio up a bit louder because of the added wind noise. Mike. -
Happy Anniversary to you both. Have a great day Mike and Tammie.

Saying "good bye!" to ear phones while riding.
stickhandle2 replied to saddlebum's topic in Watering Hole
I have one of those and yes I bought mine at Canadian Tire. I use it in the back yard with a plastic dish sink. Also have used while working on the bikes, saddlebags make great speakers. I dont have an ipod or iphone, but my mp3 works pretty good. It is great for sitting in the backyard while you watch the smoker cook your dinner for 3 or more hours and you dont want to bother the neighbours with your tunes. Even better if there is someone to come out and refill your glass when it gets empty, because you just can't miss that one song on that is playing on the washtub. Mike. -
Great story, I had the same thing happen last year, had spent the day riding with my brother, he was on his HD Sportster and I was on my 86 Venture. We pulled into a Tims and are just sitting there (my brother needed the rest, being that he was on the Sporty), a guy walks up to us and starts asking me about my old Venture, it was perfect, the look on my brothers face that somebody would want to look and talk about an old Yamaha rather then his Harley. I still smile when I think of that. Mike.

HaHa yes you did. I can also appreciate the ride home that night with the QEW all cut up for resufacing, I do not like riding on the grooved stuff either. I am not far down the road if you ever want to ride, I tend to do the wine route alot when I need some therapy. Hopefully this weekend will be a good one, so everyone can get out and enjoy it. Mike.
