SpencerPJ replied to Patmac6075's topic in First Gen Parts and Accessories
$94 to be exact. I found one in IL, guy shipped Friday, should be early next week. I have my 83 up for sale, some things I'll sell as is, a dripping rear master is not one of those things. There's an oem on ebay. -
Wanted 1st Gen Rear Master Cylinder
SpencerPJ replied to Patmac6075's topic in First Gen Parts and Accessories
How does one hone out the bore? I ask, I recently did some brake work, did not replace the rubber seals, slight leak with a tear in one of the rubbers (ordered oems today), but I only lightly sanded my bore as I did not easily find a hone (like a piston hone) readily available. Patmac6075. There is a cycle recycle place in Indianapolis that has a couple older Ventures, might call them http://www.newmotorcycleparts.net/ -
The actually make a garage door lube that I use, lube Actually makes the door and hinges quiet as a mouse

This one already has the throttle lock, same as my 83. Not the same as cruise, but I mostly ride for enjoyment in the country. No trunk, only two bags. (I've had my trunk and bags off my 83 since the day I bought it 8 years ago), although I did like that I could click my 83 trunk on in an instant. They do make a nice tour luggage bag that connects in the post for the rear passenger.

LOL, I'm looking for a Hemi Cuda I can afford....

Thanks everyone, little bugger is a rocket, holy crap, please pray for me...🙂

I rode a few Gen 2s, I just can't handle the feet forward thing. Wanted something more current with a radiator, this is best I could find and afford.

Been waffling on upgrading the 83 for couple years. Priced right, already had the upgraded seat for tall, fat boys (like me), exhaust really sounds nice. 2013 Honda Gold Wing F6B Deluxe Led lights, Pathfinder turn signals and running lights with integrated turn signals Kuryakan running lights ?, Cobra 6 into 6 exhaust installed with torque loops, Ultimate king seat. 24k miles, 1/2 worn tires. Great records, one owner, always dealer serviced.

A Title got a typo some where down the line. If it were me, I'd plead stupid, title and plate it, and carry on.

I'm a numbers guy. I believe the numbers are weighted towards, more likely to have complications without shot, than with. As far as cost, the govt has already spent the money, here in our state, vials are getting pitched. And I whole hearted agree that someone should not go to ER over a sneeze, gripes me to no end.

That's why you paid the big bucks Glad all is fixed, that was quick!

Perfect TicToc. back to the money thing. If the girl chooses to not get vaccine, and gets bad case of covid, goes to hospital, who should pay for this? I'm tired of my premiums going up for others poor choices. I am 100% cool with this scenario with the condition, don't use our resources, doctors and beds because you are too stubborn to get a simple shot that will help. Great part is it's free, I simply don't get it. ✌️

We will never get everyone to agree on this topic. I wear a mask mostly to relax those that I am around, especially around the vulnerable population that I volunteer around.. If I have it, I hope to reduce spreading it. It simply seems to be the least selfish thing to do. I have my vax, and still certainly try to keep a decent distance from others, especially if they do not have a mask on. I want the crap as much as I want the cold or flu. I do believe the masks help, it certainly will reduce someone's loose liquid projectiles, we all know what I mean. I just want this to go away, but I certainly feel a whole lot more of the herd is going to be thinned out first. I personally don't think the masks are political, I see both sides not wanting to wear the mask or get the vax for different reasons, personally none of which I agree. That said, it's a nice morning, supposed to get hot today, and I'm going riding, ... mask free, lol.

Highly encourage you to leave it to the pros. I have 2 nice 24" 1/2" ss rods I'd be happy to loan ya, but I can not stress how easily things can go wrong.

Be careful, those springs are nasty. And be carful lifting your door, I have a bad shoulder from lifting a door with a bad spring. I upgraded my old wooden door for modern insulated aluminum. Wow what a difference, door is way lighter and springs are different, they are inside a tube, and very easy to replace.

I agree, but then the question is, if masks help, and you don't wear a a mask, and you get sick or others do, who pays for it?? It's always about the money.

Prayers for an excellent outcome and speedy recovery 👍

Is this how I drain my oil?
SpencerPJ replied to YoungWayne's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes. that's the plug, not sure what the screw does, I just take the whole plug out. -
Great video, dumbed down to my level. Makes sense now, thanks for sharing.

So it seems Patch has let his membership expire, I was wondering why he hasn't been around since July 19.. That's two very knowledgeable 1st gen Einstein's we have lost this month, Cowpuc and Patch. ☹️ Hope all is well with him, I know Cowpuc moved on, I thought Patch was still actively riding. Oh well, happy there are many other smart ones to keep me rolling, and rest assured, a big thank you for your help.

Rear brake caliber dragging
SpencerPJ replied to SpencerPJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks for the persistence Marcarl So the hole will not even allow me to push a stick pin through it, only a couple fine wires. Does that seem correct? Also, any ideas on what will get some of the gunk off, I hate to sand and brake cleaner not effective enough. I did sand bore slightly with 1500 wet/dry sandpaper, wrapped around a dowel rod. Thanks -

I thought that as well. I took the elbow off while on bike, saw that, was certain I was just going to need to take apart and clean. Then the stupid snap ring clip loss made me need to order the rebuild kit. Anyways, look at the two pics. That hole we all think is plugged, well it does not go through to the inside of the bore. Only the obvious one goes through. Maybe this is the design of an 83? -

Got disassembled, things pretty dirty. I did not find a ‘culprit’, rather how was this even working this long. I just ordered a #2 rebuild kit from a local shop, 3-4 days and no shipping, partly because when I took the snap ring clip off master cylinder, like a rocket sailed into oblivion into the yard, lol. There were little black rubber marbles inside the bore, so I'm not upset, and rebuild kit comes with new clip. Bore cleaned up nice so feel good about it. I feel like I’ve got the mess cleaned up, I feel I should give the rear caliber a good cleaning considering the junk I found in the reservoir. While it’s apart, anything else I should throw money at?
