  1. Ouch, that stinks. Hope you are alright, material things can be replaced. And that's why we buy insurance. Hope they can get you fixed up and on the road quickly.
  2. Holy Crap, that's hot. Here in Indianapolis, we've had many days above 90, but not hit 100 yet. I try and stay off my bike after 90 deg. Blizzard, hmmm, Got me thinking of Dairy Queen.
  3. Sounds like an 'o' ring to me. Hopefully a $2 part, and 10 min labor. We all know how those projects go. Glad you got a nice ride in anyhow.
  4. I am not sure which o-ring you are asking, but here is a link to a parts break down, and when you select your bike and find your part and part#, Google the part number and I bet you find your answer. https://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/c/yamaha_motorcycle_1984/parts
  5. Last 3 days, I mounted the new tires, greased everything as it should be, changed oil + filter, changed antifreeze (may have been original, smh) all new brakes, took apart dash and CMS again, resoldered all connections, gas gauge still not working correct, washed, waxed, and took it for 100 mile ride in the hills. Riding real nice right now.
  6. The weed we bought in the 70s and 80s is NO where close to the weed being sold today at these shops, say in Colorado. Two hits and you are lit as a kite. I too am concerned about making it too easy, and people driving high, more than they do now. And if we take this market away from the scumbag Drug Lords, they will not just roll over, they will make the next 'Mega Drug' for our Police to spend all their time chasing. 'And if I ever tried it, I did not inhale',
  7. Good to see, I need one of those.
  8. Today, I removed the cms, and soldered all the pins. Didn't see anything odd, but still resoldered every pin connection, and many more connections. I looked over every aspect of the boards with high powered jeweler glasses, took detail knife and made sure no solder joints touching each other. Reassembled, and no change in how it works. The gas gauge is still wacko. The upside is, I greased my noisy speedo and that is quiet now. I also installed new tires and they ride great, I installed new front brakes and the ol girl actually stops now.
  9. You are correct, I love the Shinko 230's. They handle just awesome, and quiet. Only have 200 miles on them, but wow, what a what a great tire for sure.
  10. Nice ride. I think I'm leaning more towards the RSTD.
  11. Thanks, but I'm sure something closer will come up eventually
  12. Both those are nice indeed. I like both the red and the blue options. I'd never make it home riding from Portland, ha. Yes, I do like the water cooled v4, and the GoldWing just does not sit/fit me well. I'm 99% sure I will get a RSTD, seems like my best option. I've ben looking at all surrounding states of Indiana, maybe something will pop up in late season. There are bike available, but I really want a pristine one, and will pay accordingly. I just got new tires installed on my 83 Venture, (need to pick them up and mount them) so I'm not without a ride right now, and heck, I might even keep that ol girl, she's quick.
  13. Update: I was set to go look, checkbook in hand, Friday after lunch, darn it, sold Friday morning. He did warn me someone said they would be back, and offered to let me put $ down. I just couldn't put money down sight unseen, out of state. Wish I would have now... I will continue to look. I do think I will stay focused on newer RSTD, anyone see's one, PM me please
  14. Very Nice. I really like the chrome on the rear bags. I rode a 06 RSTD yesterday, a local on Craigslist. I liked the ride, he had loud pipes I hated, but kinda checked it out just for fit and feel. I know I would miss the fairing I have on my 83, but I sure like the headlight on the RSTD. I'm still kicking around the idea of a Venture, change the bars to RSTD bars and remove the trunk. When I spoke to the shop owner, he says he knows the one owner, this bike was just too bike for him, and he traded in on a smaller bike. I can understand that, they are big bikes. Downside, he claims someone else is interested. I can not get there until Friday afternoon, so we shall see.
  15. Looking for pros / cons of an RSTD. Anything I should look out for? I know about the whine, and the possible leaky shock, anything else. Spoke to the owner of the shop, seemed like good guy, I might look at this on Friday. Your opinion on this ride https://toledo.craigslist.org/mcd/d/09-yamaha-royal-star-tour/6638557951.html
  16. I agree, Happy and proud. My oldest daughter graduated from Purdue, Chemical Engineer in May, and couple weeks back, moved her from Indianapolis to Wichita. Long 11 hr drive, but she got an awesome job with Hormel Foods. So I know how you feel. I'm hoping the long drive keeps the lingering dip**** boyfriend away
  17. Here is what my tube does. I opened this about 3 weeks ago, greased my Yukon, then I always store it in a cabinet in a baggie because it would drip out of my gun. Been in the 90s in my garage several times, never over 100 (attached). After maybe 6 months, I will have maybe 1 oz liquid in bottom of baggie. I have never had any drippy coming from any of my grease boots on the Yukon, and because it is generally well liked, I continue to use it with no problems.
  18. I've been using that Lucas Grease on my Yukon for many years. I do like it, but must say, I keep it OUT of my grease gun, warm garage, and it gets runny / drippy. I have to keep it in a baggie. I like Lucas products so please keep us updated with your findings.
  19. Been meaning to give you this for a while my 83 36,400 miles 1/83 JYA26H004DA000441 Love any info you might be able to share about mine. Thanks
  20. No, I'm not a white wall fan. I liked the Raised Letters on my old Bridgestones. But thanks. I was stewing about buying tires all spring, just ordered some Shinko 230s. Maybe not the best, but all the websites, people seem to really like them. My local shop had 25% off all tires, and free mounting if I bring in the wheels. Total price for front and back, mounted and balanced, will be $170
  21. I sure wish someone would still make tires for our 83 that were RWL. They are retro correct look.
  22. This is the best trick out there. Fill reservoir 3/4 full, leave cap loose, but on. Squeeze lever all the way. Tie off with rope. Let sit a few hours, or overnight. The open system will let the air naturally come out. I had troubles a few years ago after replacing the slave, and did this, works like a charm.
  23. Glad you found the camper. I saw a couple in a cross country adventure of mine last week. Make sure you manually repack your bearings, don't trust the zerk fittings if it has them, they tend to blow grease all over the brakes and that is not good. Be safe, uplaod a pic or 2
  24. Could you imagine the crosswinds
  25. I've been thinking of adding a Gen 2, maybe RSTD, to my garage as well, but keep my 83 just cuz it's badass fast.
