  1. Thanks for a great afternoon. It was hard to leave, we have so much in common, and I always enjoy learning. Learned alot in a short time. Scott and Tippy took me part way back on a great road. Soooooo much better than 46. Looking foward to our next encounter. Few more VR,s near tunnel of trees that mite do a meet. Our bikes looked like twins. See You Two Soon. sandy
  2. I also started on a homemade gocart and then moved up to a race cart. We would race on a circuit of several different tracks. But my first real encounter of a motorcycle was a fonzie type of cool guy in town that had a new bsa thunderbolt 650 and we went 100. I was hooked for life.
  3. I would wire with a switch absolutely. If you ever need to start bike while tuning or with a low battery you dont need all the draw. A relay is used to protect switches from running full amperage and allowing you to make a direct route source to relay to lites with a lite wire from switch and allowing you to pick up power to switch at a convienent spot.
  4. I have bout same plane without radio. full scale needs finished. Cassutt
  5. Melody said ''so true"". I dont get it.
  6. I see nothing wrong with the hitch at all. It looks good for a heavy trailer with a seat in side for mother n law. lol just pulling your trailer.
  7. Praying for her and family. Caregivers and hospice. sandy
  8. When mine need jetting I will be looking for a experienced installer. So when do you want me to show up? LOL
  9. Mother, Scott; did you get it from pinwall? Thought it was 96 and newer? On vmax,s a 96 comes with a 4brush.
  10. While attempting a purchase of a 4 brush starter I found a new company offering a good price on a starter for the years of 4 brush starter models. I sent a message to vendor(Caltric), asking which it is, 2 or 4? Their answer-we are unable to answer that. What? I think they answered it. Dont buy their starter assuming you are getting a 4 brush. They list them as new aftermarket.
  11. Didn't know suz was selling bikes. Thought they were in court for reorgainization following filling for bankrupcy.
  12. congratulations and many more even better yrs ahead.
  13. So is there ever any heated discussions? That is a unusual household. Blessed for sure.
  14. I think you are throwing around that second best award quite generously.
  15. A true accomplishment! Congratulations to you both.
  16. welcome brother
  17. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB; With age comes wisdom. You can revel in the fact that most of us will never be as wise as yourself! It is a accomplishment in my eyes. sandy
  18. Got windshield that was on it when i purchased it. Clear top to bottom. Glare comes from behind or over shoulder. That large plastic sheet over the panel acts like a arc welder when sun hits it. Even with polarized sun glasses on. After I got speedo quieted down now I hear other noises. Will work on those as I can. Thanks everyone for your help. sandy
  19. Trader, Thanks for suggestion, but have heavy fork brace already. After reducing ft tire air pressure it seems to be abit better. Not sure since I removed trunk and wife wasn't on back. Will try new tires in spring. Other than that not sure. Maybe its normal for this bike. Never rode one this big.
  20. VR,s forum strikes again. Did the army engineered lube. marvel oil in cable housing and air pressure. Speedo is quiet and now the trip meter works. took a few tries to get a couple digits to zero but all went back after repeated resets. Let front tire pressure down to 36/7 see if that helps. In progress. thanks
  21. All the std maintenance items were done prior to sturgis. Cable cam loose on a shake down run and it was lubed and reinstalled. All brg.s front rear, forks removed and steering brgs greased. swing arm was removed at engine removal and everything seems good. Brg.s lubed. but there is bushings that were dry and no way to lube short of removal. Could use a couple new ones. Tires are good but set for a long time. Not checked. Run 40psi on indonesia dunlops. Bike just seems like it wants to fall off line. Very critical to any road imperfections or my inputs. Thought at first it was because it is top heavy but it is a constant fight at low speeds. Air ride is set at med to high settings. Bike rides like a caddie. Love it on open road two up is sweet, after 45 to 50mph. Maybe it is operating as it should. But it isnt pleseant to ride in slow stop and go driving. Maybe a 150 on back? and std shock, and springs up front? Don't know how long air ride will survive.
  22. While riding the beautiful roads around Sturgis SD last wk, I noticed some things that need attention on THE MACHINE. 1st one is what I consider a design flaw. If anyone has addressed this let me know. The gage panel is at a angle to reflect the sun into my eyes, blinding me when sun is behind me. Either have to change gages or adjust angle of install. Speedo howls terrible. odometer quit. wont reset trip. Now I'm wondering if scooter has more that the 80k indicated. Things wearing out that shouldn't. Also bike still feels very unstable. Like I'm riding on a raised line and it keeps wanting to fall off.
  23. If they wave I will ususally return a wave. So many bikes now that its no longer a good idea. I think it may have originated because to see another biker was uncommon and a courtesy. I feel that a stranded biker(broke down on road) would like a helping hand more than a wave, even if its just a friendly voice while he is making adjustments or waiting for help to arrive. Could u imagine waving at sturgis or blessing of bikes in baldwin MI, that would be a full time job.
  24. Ive used 4 vacuum gages and they work, but how accurately? They will get you close. Mechanical gages with a adjustment screw to equalize all to master gage(one all will adjust to). Not as accurate as a digital, dont know bout carbtune. would I reccommend the 4gage set, absolutely. great for money spent. appx$50
  25. Not knowing exactly what model you have(goes by vin#) it is either the cloaking device or self destruct mechanism.
