  1. I have been looking to add passing lamps to my '99 RSV but like everyone I'm on a budget. I've been keeping an eye out for the Venture mount but everyone is near OEM prices but I did find a phenomenal price on a '05-08 Tour Deluxe mount. I thought I read somewhere that the TD mount will work on a Venture but you loose the small air deflectors. Can someone verify this for me, as the bike did not have the air deflectors when I purchased. Thanks
  2. Not sure where the article went but I agree with Mike that the Purolator automotive filters may fit but are designed for a higher volume/pressure oil system than our motorcycles. I have switched back and forth between K&N (for the people who need name brands) and Emgo oil filters with good results. I've cracked an Emgo apart and it is of similar construction as the Purolator but "softer" spring on the bypass valve.
  3. I'm lucky and the greater Chicago area has some pretty good motorcycle swap meets. Even there V&H and Rienhart pipes are as you described, new, nearly new, or absolute trash. Sadly, if you can still read the name on them they ask big money. Now on the flip side no-one wanted HD Screaming Eagles since V&H and Rienhart started the push on bagger mufflers. I got my 103db SE mufflers in like new condition for $40 and they sound 90% as good as the others for 10% of the cost...that works for me!
  4. Thanks for the info. I did contact Skydock and wait to hear back, otherwise I might get in touch with you Ragtop
  5. I knew I had 1 leaking valve cover, but now that I have it on the rack for other work I found a second leaking valve cover. Since I'm already going to be into the motor might as well double check the valve clearances. Can anyone help me out with loaning/renting me the tool and valve kit for a few weeks? Thanks
  6. 250 lb guy and ride somewhat aggressively, usually loaded or 2up. I went 15w to quell some dive and front wheel chatter. So far so good on this bike. The last bike (C10 Concours) I went from the factory 10w to 20w, and the HD Road King from 5w to 15w.
  7. I have the same setup at XV1100; Tourmaster mesh jacket with the waterproof liner and pack Frogg Toggs Road Togs pants when traveling. I usually keep the Frogg Toggs jacket and pants tucked in the bike for normal day-to-day use.
  8. Money sent for decal and patch
  9. Quick questions and maybe someone else was thinking the same thing. Can you update us on the availability of some of the other merchandise you sell (If someone wants to stack and item or two into one order)?
  10. Oh Lord... I'm sure once I spend the time up there meeting ya'll I'll come back with the right accent.
  11. I've already started talking with my insurance about being Canadian applicable. Helmet rules, firearm rules, speed limits are all clear for our group. I was reading that boarder crossings can get a big hairy and you should have a copy of the vehicle title, that seems excessive. Wouldn't a valid plates & registration, insurance, and passport suffice?
  12. What Have I Started!
  13. Buddy and I did Lake Michigan a few years back, now moving on to the next lake. Looking to do Lake Erie in late June and looking for tips & advice. Leaving from Chicago and fly the toll way to Toledo then work our way around, not sure which direction yet but probably doing 200-250 miles per day staying off the highway and following the lakefront as much as possible. 1. Already have a passport and know the usual traveling outside the country stuff, but have never driven outside the states. What do I need to know about riding in Canada? 2. Sights to see, roads to hit? 3. Anyone along the way free the weekend of June 26th?
  14. The wife and I at the Chicago Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade about a month back.
  15. Chicago Toys For Tots is the 1st Sunday of December every year. I've been going consistently for the last 10 years and we've swung from a high of 45 deg and sun (75,000+ bike turnout) to -3 deg (1,000 bike turn out). So far that's been my coldest. I've been wanting to pull the bikes out for one last ride but it's been damp and overcast here.
  16. I assume this means the bike is still in your possession. When the insurance totaled my buddies RS Warrior the adjuster did not come back to look at the bike, they sent a wrecker to pick it up and that was it. He swapped as many stock parts back onto the bike as possible before pickup and we later installed those parts on another friends bike.
  17. Powerlet rapidFIRe Heated Glove Liner Kit - RevZilla I use heated glove liners, wife has the matching socks too. If its cold I can wear my insulated leather gauntlets, if its raining I can wear the waterproof textile gloves.
  18. I've got HD Screaming Eagle mufflers on mine but it's still a pretty quiet. Had a contractor on a job site tell me how much louder his HD was and I needed to do something to mine. Don't need to, unlike HD I don't need to scream "look at me, I'm TRYING to accelerate."
  19. Spring rate is dependent on loading and riding style. I'm a bigger guy (250 lb), ride aggressively, and usually have passenger and full luggage and they recommend the 1.20 kg springs. Call the company and discuss with them before you purchase.
  20. My father is at Lincoln National on the SW side of Chicago. Friends of my sister contacted my mother about her Girl Scout troupe placing wreaths this year and asked if her daughter could request my father's grave.
  21. http://stores.advmonster.com/h4-led-headlight/ http://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/3600-Lumen-H4-H6M-LED-Headlight-bulb-_p_83.html These are the two I've been looking at, still haven't pulled the trigger on yet.
  22. Shell Rotella White Jug (white label) - straight weight conventional White Jug (blue label) - 15w-40 conventional oil Grey Jug - 10w-30 synthetic blend DOES CONTAIN FRICTION MODIFIERS Blue Jug - 5w-40 synthetic
  23. 1st, try sending SkyDoc a PM since all the classified listings got wiped out with the forum update. 2nd, any R1 or R6 NON-RADIAL caliper that has "horizontal" mounts like the black & gold picture attached. You can even look for early model RS Warriors or later model Road Star 1700 for calipers also. Mine came from an '02 RS Warrior and included the "correct" 14mm master.
  24. I've been looking to go to a different bars on my Venture but all the chatter says that HD "fit" bars will not clamp properly due to the different spacing on the risers; the knurled parts will not line up properly. Are these standard HD Touring fitment bars? Can you post a photo of the riser clamp area to show how the spacing fits on RSV clamps? If that is true I can finally get the "straight grip" feel I'm looking for, where my knuckles are facing straight forward on the bike vs turned slightly outward.
