  1. I can't help but laugh that it has a listing for Archer Avenue in Chicago because it's HAUNTED! I references Resurrection Cemetery, that I was working at earlier today and the ghost of Resurrection Mary that I know OH SO WELL. http://www.dangerousroads.org/haunted-roads/4917-archer-avenue.html
  2. Especially with the Keggy-Fuel tank on the back of that thing, that's no fair weather bikers...
  3. And this is why I stick with Yamaha for EVERY power sport... I have a '96 Yamaha Venture 3-seat 700cc twin with 170 hr and a '97 GP1200 2 seat 1200cc triple. I have done nothing but carb cleaning, spark plugs, and a fuel level sending unit for the 1200. Do you know how long these sat before you purchased? The output shaft seals are not really known for going bad to often unless they dry-rot with lack of use.
  4. I keep the Road Toad's in my bike at all times, they pack small and are handy when you get caught in a pop-up rain shower. They've been with me through 4 bikes now and other than a bit of heat damage that was properly repaired with Frogg Toggs brand heat patch they have stood up well. Been through all day wet riding multiple times without getting clammy. I still keep them for around town use but touring and I know their will be rain I wear Tourmaster pants.
  5. Mine seems to do the same thing but will eventually lock into a speed. I was in MI last week and kept trying to set it at 72mph, it would slowly slide back to 68mph over the course of like 3 miles but then would be rock steady at 68 for miles (speeds as shown on GPS, not dash).
  6. Just installed an iSimple on my buddies HD SE Ultra last week. The model he picked up had RCA & 3.5mm outputs so I don't see why you couldn't just Y off the existing radio input and include the iSimple Bluetooth box into the system on the standard Aux input.
  7. You'd need to put a Ground Loop Isolator on the audio side... http://www.amazon.com/PAC-SNI-1-3-5-3-5-mm-Isolator/dp/B001EAQTRI I think there is a filter you can put on the 12v side, but I don't know of a model or what to search for off the top of my head.
  8. Your basically a day ride up there for me up to Muskegon. Maybe next time I get some time off I'll shoot you a message or next time your heading down to SW Harbor Country you let me know.
  9. @cowpuc, Knowing where I saw you in the morning you and I were probably having the same conversation mid-afternoon. We were filling up in Topinabee on the way back from St. Ignace and a guy pulled up at the other pump (in his car) and started chatting about his '07 Midnight. I've put some work into my bike with a Stratoliner front wheel and HD pipes being the most obvious and he asked about them, as well as telling him I did a valve adjustment and carb work. He pulls a trailer so i asked if he ever looked into re-gearing from a V-max, he didn't even know it was an option. He asked how long I've owned the bike that I know so much about them and working on them, even though it's only a year 1/2 this sit has provided so much information. I told him to check it out and look me up if he ever joins.
  10. Kinda hard to stop and chat in the middle of one of the largest and longest bridges in the world... I nudged the wife and said "Look, it's an older Venture. Wait....THAT'S PUC!" She responded "Yea, right. Like you really know who that is"
  11. Looks awfully similar to the Venture owner I spotted over the weekend...even has the same bike.
  12. Rider magazine had an article on that bike. They were riding around the globe 2 up. Can't find the article anymore
  13. Well the Weather botched the Lake Erie Plans so We'll be doing Lake Michigan again and staying dry. Going Counter Clockwise from the south end of the lake. If you see a Beige '99 with a Venture sticker and red FD and a Beige/Black HD Ultra stop and say Hi.
  14. Oooo Oooo, one of the project I'm collecting parts for in this winters mods, full front end "reconstruct" with HID headlight & Light Bar along with a bunch of other stuff. I'll be getting in touch with @slowrollvw
  15. The wifes BCBS covers us...already called.
  16. No intention of bringing a gun with...about the only "weapon" is a pocket knife and Gerber multi-tool
  17. I have Foremost coverage on the motorcycle, simple to contact your agent and request a Non-Resident Motor Vehicle insurance card. No cost, wait a few days and TaDa you have coverage in Canada Is it possible to go to Canada with stopping at a Tim Hortons Its mostly riding planned, leaving next Friday the 26th. Friday Chicago - Cleveland Saturday Cleveland - Niagara Falls, ON Sunday Niagara - Windsor Monday Windsor - Chicago
  18. Last time I used debit internationally they held a large chunk of money, I tend not to use debit anyways. I'm gonna call my CC company and inform them that I'm traveling since I've been declined at the gas station across the street from my house for making to large a purchase! If we're only over there a day 1/2 I'll just wing it with US Currency, I don't think we'll be doing to much Mom & Pop type stuff but more traveling. Thanks Guys!
  19. We're finally nearing the date for our Lake Erie loop trip and just want a few quick pointers. Passports and Canada insurance are all take care of, but what about cash & credit cards? I know debit for international transactions is a no-no. I'll call my credit cards this week and find out more from them. We are spending about 36 hr in Canada between the Niagara area and Windsor Area. Are American dollars readily accepted, travelers checks, or should I get cash converted over?
  20. I'm not sure if going from a step-through scooter to a big touring bike is to big a step for you. As stupid as it sounds, you might want to look into Harley Davidson's rental program and rent an Ultra Classic or a Goldwing (even though you have no interest in owning one) just to get some saddle time with a big, heavy touring bike before dropping money on a Venture. I had a HD Road King before the Venture, I spend frequent saddle time on my Buddies Screaming Eagle Ultra Classic. To me the Venture is slightly more cumbersome at low speeds but not ungodly terrible, and there are some reasonable fixes for the heavy steering and high seat height. Once moving the weight and size is a non-issue. This is why I say get on a similar rental bike to see if the step up to a touring bike is comfortable to you from a light weight step-through.
  21. I used a mighty-vac with an inline canister to add about 100cc a shot. Pull about 4-5 psi of vacuum on the front forks, invert the canister and let the vacuum pull the oil into the front forks through the (de-cored) schrader valve
  22. Bag the helmet then lay it on its side. I can fit 2 "laying down" in the tour pack.
  23. Hu, I only have the foam pad in the trunk, do you also have the "accessory" plush carpet?
  24. I get 2 Scorpion EXO-900 modular helmets into my tour pack, one XXL one L. Not sure if it's maybe "egg" shaped helmets vs "round" shaped but so far I haven't had an issue.
  25. I took mine off when I did the 1st tire change and never put it back on, I didn't notice a difference. Now I have an 18" Stratoliner front wheel and it came with a "less intrusive" weight so I put it on when installing the tire, again I did not notice a difference.
