So I'm finally getting around the my winter repairs & modifications... Front end is off to replace some dented steering head bearings and I'm getting the lower pressed on tomorrow by a buddy. I've searched the forum and not finding how to removed the races. Before I ding something up, can someone well me the "proper" way to get the bearing races out of the neck?

I guess your only suposta buy American, not ride it?

I agree that price seems quite inflated for a "general market" where most people would be greatly turned off my a high mileage bike. I had a hard time selling a 8yr old HD with 33k miles with most guys walking away saying its to worn out...

The photo's I've seen those add-on lips look hokey, could you possibly post some photos "seated" on the bike. -

I think the 10" SlipStream is equal to the 19" ClearView. The slipstream is measured from the bottom edge to top edge of the windshield where the clearview is measured from the top of the fuel tank at the filler cap to the top of the windshield. https://www.clearviewshields.com/motorcycle-windshield/yamaha/royal-star-venture-shields/ -

I'm in the same situation. I'm 6'2" and the 10" clear shield I have now is ok without a Helmet but atrocious with either my 1/2 or full. I was looking at the 6" & 8" but not sure if I like the tinted but for the price its worth a shot. My buddies HD Ultra has a Long Ride Shields with a recurve that he got for a great price, so far there are very slim offerings for a recurve for the Venture of they are upwards of $250. Edit: looking at them now I think Clearview is the only option for a recurve. -
Friends who live in Joliet (20 min east of Ottawa) had heavy winds, hail and a lot of downed trees. I have yet to hear from a friend in Diamond, IL who got hit hard a few years back but is seems they got missed by this one. Some friends posted photos of Ottawa on FB and while there is a lot of damage it did not appear to "level" the town like some of these storms that blow through. I think the radio this morning mentioned 1 fatality.

Any maintenance is better than no maintenance. I don't stress the "brand" oil as much as I do regular oil changes & maintenance. I ran the Tourmaster 230 for about 9-10k miles; stuck like hell the whole time, pretty good in the rain and I think I purchased the tire for under $100.

Harley Driving Lights?

Exactly the page I ordered from but revived something completely different...I should have taken a photo before I packed them back up and sent them back. -

Can you post or send me a link to the ones you're looking at? I'm pulling my fairing apart in the next few weeks to do my HID, Light Bar, GPS & speakers and really would like to have the LEDs in the light bar from the start. -

I ordered these off Amazon the other day: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013OVKT8E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 What was sent was drastically smaller (3-3/4" round), were black (not chrome) and had a large mounting gimbal that was not removable. Also one of the optics was loose within the housing, obviously back they went. Research who you're buying from because what I received was not what was shown in the photos in the listing. -
My perspective is that a MC is a luxury item and not necessarily a "daily rider" and there has to be something out there for everyone's budget. I don't mind turning a wrench (or else I wouldn't be able to afford my boat, jet skis & a MC) and can keep older motors running quite easily. My question to you...what happens between 5 yrs old (new) and 25 yrs old (classic)? Someone has to maintain these things; I'd rather have a nicely maintained and regularly used MC than one that sat. I see people selling bikes that are 20 yrs old "like new" with only a few thousand miles, to me that's a bike that will have issues from dry rotted gaskets and general lack of timely maintenance. I'm not trying to pick a fight but simply let the original post know that there's someone out there for every budget, and a nice clean used bike has it's place in the market.

So with that mentally you'd never own a classic car or motorcycle? Just because it is older doesn't mean it looses all value. I paid $3,200 in 2013 for a basically stock '99 with 40k miles in the greater Chicago area. Bike was very clean and well maintained and other than basic maintenance or modification I wanted to do it has been an absolutely perfect machine. I regularly see newer ones listed in the $6-8,000 range but this market tends to be higher priced than most.

RS Warriors were FI from the start in '02. They did come from the factory with a "water heater" for a muffler but there are a lot of aftermarket options. Neither of these are mine...I currently "posses" an '07 with the later model radial brakes & different wheels, but otherwise identical to the top grey bike. My riding buddy has a similar '06 I believe.

Front wheel options
BratmanXj replied to Lug Nut's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I did measure my OEM rotors vs the Stratoliner rotors and they are they appear to be interchangeable. I wouldn't hesitate to use the RSV rotors, but I was able to upgrade mine CHEAP to full floating rotors from the Strat. Note that the RSV has that weight in the big chrome cover and the Strat has a weight in the little cover shown in my photo. I don't think anyone here ever gave a good reason to the weight, I think it's to slightly counteract the driveshaft torque...but many of us have removed them. -

Handling - I purchased the bike with a well worn Bridgestone 150 width front tire and the bike handled like a Mack truck... I went to a new 130 width on the 18" wheel (stock Stratoliner size mentioned above) and it lightened the steering up considerably. I don't know if it is any better than the factory rim with a 130-16" but it definitely looks better! Modifications (none really) - I purchased new wheel bearings, center spacer, axle spacers directly from the RSV parts catalog; chrome bolts from Ace Hardware to mount the rotors and it fit right in with the Road Star Warrior big brake kit I already had fitted to the bike on the factory front axle. -
Ever looked into the RS Warrior? 1700cc V-Twin with the front suspension off the previous generation R1 and a 200 rear wheel. A V-bak, Power Tuner & a set of Samson ground pounders it's a pretty sweet ride. 1st gens (02-05) can be found around here for under $5k, even came a cross a few for under $3k in serviceable shape.

1. Old app that is no longer available,"improved' app doesn't carry the same functions 2. Does not function on "newer" devices that have CAST built into the OS

The Comcast App on my phone & tablet is not Cast-able to my Vizio Chromecast TV in the basement. Do you have a work around or is there something I'm missing? If so I might be buying a few new TV's and dropping the extra cable boxes in the house.
-
I have Comcast on the living room & family room TVs and for internet, all the other TVs in the house (bedroom, basement play room, workshop) are on ChromeCast and fed from the phone with Netflix or YouTube. I've been looking into getting a cracked firestick but just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

1st thing I ask when someone talks to me about "wanting to ride" Do you want to ride or do you want a Harley? If you want to ride I can get you on a nice bike for under $3k, if you want a Harley you'll need double that in Lifestyle clothing alone...

Polaris intended to give Indian it's own identity, thus a unique engine that obviously will go through growing-pains in the first few years of implementing a brand new design. Using an S&S crate engine like the Gilroy bikes would have made it "just another Harley clone."
