  1. I pulled winterization runs on both Maggie and Tweeksis today = 4 March, 2019. Maggie just squinted and ran when I backed her hind end outside the basement into the cold but that Tweeksis,, she got snappy with me and even refused to allow her rear tire to roll over the sliding door floor plate. I had to allow that old girl to remain inside with nothing but the very tips of her muffs hangin out in the cold.. Both of them bid you all the very best in your preppin your scoot for Summer ridin @luvmy40.. @Flyinfool,, I wont tell ya what they bid you brother
  2. Ok folks, here we go,, more AWESOME shooters!! Only, regretfully,, these sweethearts do not belong to me... @Sylvester, Sly,, I got em cooked here brother.. The original pics were fairly small so in the resizing - they got a little blurry (sorry bro) but still very viewable. I am going to go ahead here and post both versions.. Also cant wait to hear the full blown laydown of each shooter... Take it away ya lop eared fancy shootin iron varmint P.S.,, you are welcome my friend!!
  3. Soo one time Tip, Tweeks and I were out in Roswell NM looking for Aliens and we,,, never mind... Talkin to Aliens are ya Jack:scratchchin:?:beer:
  4. Like an old MXin buddy I use to race with use to say Sly,, "Its ALWAYS something!!"!! IMHO, when fooling with these shooters,, the Winter time with Fool playing with the White Washer 24/7 and all this nonsense happening,, it is the PERFECT time for sortin em out,,, Tweek here = Tweek there,, keep playin that tune till we get it right = BEFORE shootin time gets here !! Wilson is a GOOD company,, I am sure they will take care of you!! Had the AR with the Conversion out for some test-n-tune time.. It was working GREAT and then it started having FTF problems,, I got an after market trigger in both the AR's so I thought maybe I was going to have to do some polishing on the BCG of the Conversion.. Got home, took it down and noticed right away that I had a LOT of build up on the bolt face of the conversion. As you know, the 22lr are blow back where the 556's and 308's AR's are gas operated.. I had forgotten how absolutely filthy 22's are.. Now I got er all cleaned back up, did some polishing on the BCG rails anyway,, all looks good and ready for the next test. Also just finished my monthly running of the bikes, both Maggie (R1) and Tweeksis (our 83) to make sure the carbs dont solidify over winter = might be the wrong way but its my way of winterization.. WOW was that FUN,, smelled sooooooo good to bring em both up to temp and tap the mains a few times. "Always something" Anyway,, PLEASE do send those pics of what ever = like I said,, be more than happy to help get the pics on here for something to about!! That's what friends are for brother!! SEND EM Puc
  5. Me too Chuck,, me too but, I got a hunch that either way, permit or no permit, the authorities will be involved in the aftermath of a dead bad guy and if it's self defense and/or innocent lives are saved cause a good guy with a shooter stepped up to the plate, the courts would look favorably upon him. IMHO, it's not a permit that gives us the right to protect our selves, that is all covered by the 2nd.. We have "Enhanced Drivers License"'s available to us, which Tip and I both have. What makes them "Enhanced" is that complete background checks were done to obtain them. I am of the mind that all Drivers Licenses should be Enhanced and that a DL should cover all bases for gun ownership, voting and the whole nine yards. Simple as simple.
  6. Looks like a blast Jack!! That puppy would be fun to take into the Mountains on a clear, no moon night and look for ET's out CTFW!
  7. Yea baby,, THAT is a good one!! Folks on the outskirts of area's where only the bad guys have gun's engaging their 2nd Amendment rights to protect themselves when those bad guys come to town. Definitely a healthy dose of to cheer a soul this mornin Casey,, thanks brother!!
  8. But DADDY,,, AINT CHRISTMAS EVER GONNA GET HERE :680::680: Eagerly awaiting the story and the pics brother!! Glad you found the camera!! Hope it works like new and the shootin iron stuff shines like the morning sun peeking over the Western Montana mountain skyline on a fresh spring morning
  9. I am soooo trackin with ya @Condor! For many years now I have used the cheapy little Digitals (goodbye to film!!). I always grab the ones that take the full sized SD Cards (amazing how many vids/pics you can load onto a 32 gig card:happy34:), gotta be powered by 2 double "A"'s for ease of finding xtra batts along the trail, are vid capable and all that. Set er up on "Economy" shootin and no resizing needed to flood our club with pics. The nice thing about them too is when you drop one while shootin while CTFW, you just go back to the crash site - slide the card out and toss the camera and go grab another (had that happen twice on one trip once ).. I am also one who still carries a flip phone BUT,, my son gave my wife one of these new fang dangled smart phones and it IS really neat! Besides being able to take pics with it,, I can turn a 1 hour text typing message into a 2 minute chore by using Voice Text, can jump on the Web and all that stuff.. While I am wayyyy still stuck in the dinosaur age using my flip phone (the kid offered to get me one like Tips and put my on his "plan" too,,, I declined and stuck with the flip for easier concealed phone carry ) I do gotta admit, I do clearly see the goodness the smart phone package does offer.. Just a matter of preference I reckon...
  10. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!! Makes my long for some !!! Thanks for posting Jag and ALL the very best of many miles of smiles out there CTFW my friend!!
  11. ROCK AND ROLL SPENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:usa::usa::usa::usa:
  12. OUTSTANDING!! Gorgeous hunk of shootin iron there brother!!! Tuffy,, is that Springfield striker fire? My money's on you jumpin to the 5 inch Mod will REALLY be a show off shooter at 50 Yards - CANT WAIT TO READ/SEE YOUR REPORT TUFFY!! Puc
  13. OUTSTANDING :dancefool::dancefool::dancefool:!! Now,, ,,, let's see,,, pictures from the phone to show-n-tell on the Clubhouse wall... If it were my phone, I would email the pic's to me with my phone, then I would save the emailed pics to a picture folder on my laptop, then I would import them into "Paint" for resizing and resize so to a horizontal pixel of no more the 1000 so the clubs server can handle em, then I would resave the resized pic(s) under a new name. Then I would open the "Manage Attachments" icon located at the bottom of the screen I am typing in right now and select the saved pic(s) to upload.. If that didnt work and/or it was just to much hassle, I would check my P.M. box for a brothers email address (I dont put that or my phone number online for the "general" public to see) to send the pics to so he could handle posting the pics so I could do a follow-up explaination of exactly what it is/was we are all looking at = that is an offer of assistance Sly!! Check your P.M.'s for my Email address if you decide to take me up on it = glad to help brother!!
  14. I am speechless, and so sorry to read this my brother.. My little brother by birth (3 years younger) is among the many of us too @WRIDER, his has spread into his lungs and now into into the top of his right Femur where it ate away enough bone that he had to have a rod placed in so he could walk again. That was 2 months ago and they have him back on his feet again, with a cane of course but he is back upright. It is my earnest and utmost prayer that the Dr.'s, assisted by the loving hand of God himself, are able to find ways to do the same on your behalf Rider.. You are in my daily thoughts and prayers brother. I know dealing with this nasty stuff is a daily, oft times hourly, thing but it is a battle worth fighting. We are family and in this together Rider! Puc
  15. I had one of the LED headlight bulbs with the little fan on the back of it given to me a couple years ago (friend in the hood felt sorry for me riding next to his new HD, his new scoot came with those SUPER bright HD LEDS and he said: "That old beat up Yamaha's headlight is like riding by a birthday candle, try this = Happy Birthday" as he handed it to me. I did the RLU jumper by using the pigtail off an old RLU so I could easily snap my RLU back in if I decided I didnt like the LED. Have been running the LED for a couple years now and REALLY like it. As you stated, the LED is by no means up to the standards that a full LED swap complete with LED bucket would be. I am pretty sure this is due to the fact that the "mirror" reflective interior of the stock 1st Gen is not meant to reflect LED light like one designed for an LED bulb but,, it is much better than stock IMHO. If you toss a volt meter on the + lead hitting the LED and are reading +12 there, I think that is the best your going to see. I am not sure how you would go about increasing the voltage to the headlight and not sure it would be a good plan anyway. On a side note, the way mine came out after jumpering the RLU is that the White headlight warning light on my dash is now the high/low beam indicator. I think back when I did the jumpering I read that this is a normal outcome. I didnt do any addition figuring or dismantling of the dash to swap leads around in there to get it back to "normal" as I am old and lazy but I am sure if a person wanted to do the work, even that little outcome could be changed fairly easily. I did get kind of tired of seeing that white light staring at me so I dimmered it down with a hunk of plastic off something while we were out CTFW half way across the States and glued the plastic down with a dab of E-6000 and, as far as I know,, the dimmer screen is still on Tweeksis..
  16. Could have just put "fastest of the Yamaha Venture line" and instantly covered all the bases ..
  17. I love the "shifts well" comment Duey. My V-4's always use sticky, notchy shiften to let me know they are ready for an oil change if I get so takin in by the beauty of the miles that I over run the last change. I think if I were switching over to Synthetic I would pay xtra special attention to clutch hook up when she comes up on the pipe in higher gears while 2 up and loaded just to make sure my clutch plates liked the stuff.. Besides,,, an occasional romp in that exciting V-Twin slaying go fast land can be good for the bonding between the machine and the 2 riders along for the ride:big-grin-emoticon:. on the ride brother!! Still wayyyyy :snow::snow::snow::snow: here for that routine.. Dad gum Fool,,, its White Washing AGAIN as I type!!!!
  18. Well that is really interesting Duey.. I used Walmart's SuperTech (my 1st Gens LOVED the stuff) for many many years - did all my on road oil swaps in a Walmart parking lots using their wayy cheap, 1.50 a quart 20/50 SuperTech dino and they always loaned me an oil pan and a place to dump my used = the PERFECT plan! A number of years ago Walmart stopped selling the SuperTech and went to the higher dollar alternatives and, of course,, I went elsewhere looking for another consistent supplier of my 1st Gens love for cheap 20/50 (on tour oil changes can get pricey when riding cross country) and found "Dollar General" stores to fit the need perfectly. Most (not all,, some places are not biker friendly) Auto Parts stores will allow parking lot oil changes even with carry in oil, and invite waste oil so the lack of an auto lube attached to Dollar General problem was solved.. I have, almost exclusively used Dollar General 20/50 since then but did know that Walmart finally did return to SuperTech oils as you pointed out. No idea on the higher dollar Synthetics but I can vouch for SuperTech's consistency in their dino's.. Never a problem one running the product, even running extreme desert temps at high speeds, two up and full packin...
  19. Ya know Sly,,, shooter related related waiting for's are to shooters what Christmas presents are to 4 year olds,,, you know that don't cha?
  20. and YOU know em ALL,, nah nah dee boo boo!! :moon::moon::rasberry:
  21. ,,, quoting from one of my all time favorite history books,, Mathew 7 verse 1,,, Judge not ye lop eared varmints, lest YOU be judged
  22. Back in the 70's I was Machining for a large machine shop in Grand Haven Mich. Working 3rd Shift (I LOVED workin 3rd) with about 70 other chip makers and only 2 adults (back then we called em Bosses) allowed us evil children to have some pretty good times,,, got our work done but still,,, we had some pretty good times.. Stuff like Dykem Bluing found on the backside of Turret Lathe handles was an every night event,,, you know what I am sayin Jeff,,, shop life.. Anyway,,, one night the day shift Maintenance gang left a door open with easy access to the company Oxy/Acet torches and it caught my eye. As we were headed atta way and I was pulling a "balloon" out of my wallet () I asked my partner in crime (buddy), who had joined me to see what I was up to, if he had ever seen what a good mix of oxy/ace would do if inflated into a little 3" kiddy balloon and then lit? He shook his head nahhhhhh.. I was AMAZED at how HUGE the particular "balloon" I carried in my wallet became after I tweeked the torch tip to a perfect cone, knocked the flame out by touching it to a steel welding table and stuck the tip into the "balloon".. We both watched as the "balloon" filled to well over 3 feet in length and a foot in diameter.. When we got out side the building, with only a concrete wall seperating us from the 70 plus other employees who were sitting at the lunch tables filling their faces, I pulled a roll of masking tape out of my dark blue machinist apron and taped the "balloon" to the concrete wall ,,, then I ran good 6 feet of masking tape "fuse" from the roll, stuck one end of it to the bottom of "balloon" and left the other end hanging.. My friend was as I lit a Marlboro Red and then stuck the flame of my Zippo under the end of the tape that was hanging just above the ground. Without haste I said,,, lets go back inside.. As we approached the lunch table there was this LOUD,, thunderous KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABOOOOOOOOM that actually made the salt n pepper shakers on the lunch tables bounce.. The lunch room (wasnt actually a room, it was just a bunch of tables set up behind a group of #2 Warner Swasey Turret Lathes) went deathly quite just before someone said "HOLY SPAMOLEY" (spamoley replacing the word that was actually spoken) and then someone said "I think the offices just blew up".. I told my buddy that,,, ok,,, THAT really was a bit of an overkill but ya gotta admit,, it is AMAZING how powerful a touch of a good mix of Oxygen and Acetelyne can be!! Soo,, @Flyinfool,,, which of us is gonna spearmint with figuring out how many seconds of mix its gonna take to launch the drum and not blow the sides out of it in the process
  23. WAYYYY COOL!! I have a hunch that if one of the 1600cc Beemers would have entered the scene even that AWESOME new Wing woulda been shot down pretty quickly.. That is until the speed limiter on the Beemer tapped 101 mph and shut it down,, then the new 1800cc Wing woulda went sailin by,,, until its speed limiter dogged it at 108 mph,, then a putzy little motored 1st Gen Venture with 2 people woulda passed em by on its way to its cruising speed of 115 ... Another interesting thing (IMHO) is that a puny little 1000cc R1 with stock gearing will spin up real quickly to 103 mph,, in 1st gear ,,taking out the 1st place Beemin fastest of the touring crowd before shifting into 2nd and then topping the 2nd fastest of the Wing of a touring bikes top speed, the new Wing, easily with it's 2nd gear,, and then, having 4 gears left, the teeny little 1000cc putzy motor sings along singin it's song to a top speed 176 in 5th,,,, and who knows what lays beyond as ya shift into 6th ..... This motorcycle business can be a confusing matter thats for sure:scratchchin:
  24. Now THATS the spirit my friend!! Words to live by for sure!! continuing Prayers Up on the knee trauma my friend!! That shingles stuff can be REALLY nasty,, glad your puttin a whoopin on it and keepin on - keeping on!!
