WOWZY WOW WOW WOW:178::178::178::178: NICE SKIDDER!!!! VERY VERY NICE!!! See you went full length M-Lok on the guard on this one = real purdy!! I did 3/4 length Key-Mod on my recent 556 build and love it BUT the AR10 I just grabbed came with a full length M-Lok like yours and I REALLY like it too! What did you come up with for a BCG on this one? I went "full auto" (and no,, that has NOTHING to do with it being full auto - just means it has some extra meat on the back of the bolt) with mine as I like the added strength. What chamber, twist and barrel length you choose for this one Skid? I dropped in a very inexpensive 16", 1:7 Wylde chambered ($39 at Durkins) BUT, been watching Durkins site (they run some pretty good sales) for a 20" Stainless in 1:8 Wylde - saw one on sale there over the winter at 1/2 price and shoulda grabbed the confounded thing but was in the process of piecing mine together so chose not to spend more $$$'s (even though Sylvester was REALLY pushing me to empty my wallet,,,, said he wouldnt loan me no $$$'s so I had to pass ).. You stick an adjustable gas block in yours? I have been playing with a drop in 22LR conversion kit in mine (LOTS OF FUN) for the little bit of shootin Tip and I been able to do cause of and it is blow back so I really have not had a chance to go thru my smathering of 556 and 223 steel and brass ammo I grabbed to test it with so I dont know if I will have to default to an adustable or not.. VERY interested on what you did with yours and how ya came out with whatever you chose. Now I gotta go in my AR room and grab a pic or two of our winter fun to show ya.. Till then,, CONGRATS on the AWESOME build brother - JUST BEAUTIFUL!! P.S. - so is it now Mayor Skid? Or should I say,, MayAR Skid :big-grin-emoticon: Puc

WOWZY WOW WOW WOW :178::178::178:Vick,, she is GORGEOUS :178::178:!! Truly a job very well done there brother!!!! Couple things on the tune,,, if you havent done so and are using old plug wires, I would unscrew the plug caps, clip a 1/4 inch off the end of each wire to be sure I had mitigated any chance of resistance,, then I would Ohm out (check resistance) the caps.. Also check for any form of carbon tracking. I would also make sure that I had a good, OEM air filter in the box and that the cover fit well. While there I would take a long screw driver and, without having to take the diaphram covers back off, carefully slide the slides to make sure nothing is hangin up there. Understanding that these puppies really do not take throttle well until warmed to operating temp, I would refrain from spit/finger testing at this point and use a Laser Temp Taker (cheap at HF,, think I paid 15 bucks for mine and it works awesome) to "shoot" each header as the bike warmed starting right at first start and all the way up to op temp, getting a really good handle on whether or not all are hitting. I would also pay special attention to typical warm up exhaust "steam/smoke" so I knew I was dealing with pipes that were not plugged with mice nests. If she is coming up on all four on choke and the temp verifies it and they are all staying pretty close all the way to op temp, then I would give her a really good rump of 15 or 20 miles and see if we smiled at each other after that:big-grin-emoticon:.. Give er a chance to settle in some after being rescued and now in the hands of the Master Builder,, which you obviously are brother!!! On the Color Tune, I would dial em all in to that purdy blue flame range and run it. Maybe revisit the Color Tune after ya get some miles on it and see if its changed. Word of note though, if you end up clipping the plug wires a tad and Ohming old caps,, you might wanna recheck the Color Tune cause even the slightest resistance on those caps can cause some serious funk in the combustion chamber.. Hope this helps,, GLAD YOU GOT HER ON HER FEET BROTHER! Just GORGEOUS!!:bowdown: YOU DA MAN VICK!!!!!! Puc -

Your welcome on the heads up my friend, anytime. Have numerous tank cleans and Red Kote (good stuff!!) coatings and the like and have never heard of or tried Evapo Rust, learn something new everyday! Have acided many, used/use White Vinigar soak (slow but effective on lighter rust), used electrolisis numerous times, and when a kid even used the old shake n bake rocks/nuts/bolts a few times to derust em.. Just checked Ebay, found/ordered this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Evapo-Rust-Super-Safe-Rust-Remover-Non-Toxic-Removes-from-Bare-Metal-32oz/183455385164?epid=1152380227&hash=item2ab6cb064c%3Ag%3Ay9AAAOSw9A5bq9EP&LH_ItemCondition=3000%7C1000%7C2500 Hopefully got the right stuff my friend!! I have a couple (well,, ok,, more than 2) bikes in storage that I KNOW at least 2 of them need their tanks cleaned! Win, lose or draw,,, I will give Evapo Rust a shot!! Now its my turn, thank you for the heads up!! Puc -
!!! Of course,,, a full fledged club report is in order once ya get er spooned on, balanced and wrung out on the road right brother Installation 101:

If you pull the seat,, you will find the sending unit "trap door" on the top of the tank = couple bolts and BINGO = PLENTY of room to look right into the inside of the tank to see what your dealing with.. Dont forget to either rub the roof with a finger tip or take a peek with mirror at the roof of the tank for stalagtites of rust there too.. It's amazing how little bit of rust dust that even the best of the best inline filters can not mitigate, that it takes to really mess up a very expensive carb overhaul... -
I had a 22/250 bull barreled 700 Rem that I LOVED.. What a really really fun, long range, reach out and touch the crows shooter she was!! I spent hours and hours counting rifle powder "root beer barrels" (what I called those little granuals of powder) in hand loading for that thing.. Very time consuming BUT lots of rewarding fun!! Only thing was, being a little a light weight side of shootin lead,, cross winds were really challenging.. Out past 300 yards and ya really had to be on your toes. Still though,, LOTS of fairly inexpensive shooting fun (reloads) back in the day.. Know what your saying Sly,, this getting old and cold weather stiff is crazyiness and this kind of thread/yakkin shooters all winter with my good buddies has been a true blessing. Lots of fun!! Tip's really gettin into it all too.. Just got the lazer bore sighter (all the way from China for $3) for her new skeet busting 12 gauge. Been playing with it here,,, pulled the sights on her shotgun in using the lazer and now having her raise to point of aim and say "bang" when she is sighted on a variety of targets (like that door knob, speaker on the wall, stuffed bear in the corner), all while I watch the location of the lazer on the target to see how her "point of aim" is doing... I was telling her of the old school saying that shooters lived by in my time that said "good, accurate gun handlers dry fire their shooters,,, A LOT" and now she knows what/why I was referring to.. She's getting pretty sharp... Cant wait for warm weather to see her put a whooping on those boxes of clays stacked in the garage :dancefool:. I have thouroughly enjoyed all the too Sly.. THANK YOU for participating my brother!!!

About the same price range as a 92f clone Taurus,,, good price if she's a good grouper/shooter Sly, and by the sounds of things,, it is:thumbsup:!! Checkin out Gunbroker as I type here,, I LOVE combining my love for the auction action (predatory?) with the joy of gettin a really good deal.. GunDeals shows this as the best price,, this like yours? https://www.g4gguns.com/products/accessories-bersa-tpr9dt-091664960151-322 One of the HUGE things I LOVE about my 1911 (and also the Beretta 92 line = other than the police "D" model that is DA only) is the SA end of the deal. I spent a fair amount of time shootin (and hunting with) a Smith 29 6" 44 mag and learned early on of the accuracy advantage of having SA at the finger tips. That Bersa is a handsome shooter being DA/SA. Almost looks like very well done upgraded "1911" platform,, love the looks of the additional "hump" on the grip back too. That is something that makes the Beretta fit point of aim better to my hands.. Also seeing the little kick out on the forward bottom of the grip frame too .. Beginning to see why you really like this one!! Yours the 4 1/2 inch barrel?

Been a long time,, I gotta 1/2 box of them in my has been shooting supplies , along with 30/30, 300 Savage, 44 mag, black powder stuff a bunch of dull Bear Broadheads with missing inserts in a box up in the garage. Next time I am up there trying to chase a bird out of the trusses I will check and see what they were but I have a hunch they were/are 150 or even 170 grain (if 170's were available back then), soft points for sure. Only reason I say that is I always LOVED brush hunting White Tail, over here on the West Coast of Michigan there is PLENTY of good, thick, State/Federal lands over flowing with White Tail that are soooooo much fun to harvest!! Now ya got me wondering Jeff,, I will have to do some diggin and see if I can find em.. Silver and Black box of factory stuff as I recall,, might of had some red on it too:scratchchin:...

EXCELLENT REPORTING THERE FOOL!! EXCELLENT!! So,, whats the farthest kill you've pulled with it and whats the closest? I had a 7 mag (was a Ruger with the safety on the comb,, LOVED the gun and took several White Tail with it BUT, had one accidental discharge due to carrying it thru Michigan THICK stuff by the comb and unknowingly knocking the safety off = thankfully was hunting alone = scared the CRAP out me - sold the gun a week later and warned buyer to watch carrying by the comb!!) that I had a shoot thru on a nice 6 point and some bone head hunter got to him before I do - he went about 150 yards with a 7mm hole thru him.. Went into town (place called "Dublin" = world known for their Jerky!!), bought a small spade drill and commenced to making my own brand of Hollow Points by hollow pointin em by hand with the spade drill.. Two days later blew a 3 inch exit wound shoulder to shoulder on a spike = tipped em over like he'd been hit by a semi.. Must of been my homemade Hollow Points didnt have near the expansion rate of your Nosler's

Wayyy cool ya lop eared 1st Gen ridin varmint,, WAYYY COOL! Was just educatin myself by taking a peek in the clubs "History" section and reading thru the "color" section therein.. Found out the Blonde was one of the colors offered for 83's too,, NICE!! Something that has me puzzled now though,, according to VR records there, a solid maroon 83 like 5 of my 6 MK1's have been was NOT offered ,, just the two tone maroon (cant recall what the actual colors were there but I have seen numerous 2 tone maroons in real life - never had one though = matter of fact, one of the attendees at The Dalles rally in Oregon we made was riding one) was offered.. Only solid, non-two tone listed is Black :confused24: -
NICE SHOOTER THERE SLY!! I have never checked out the Bersa line (always wanted a Beretta 92F for many of the known qualities you have listed here) but will DEFINITELY sneek-a-peek next gun show I attend! Sounds like you are onto it like a hound on a snowshoe!! Minus the Lazer ya got hangin on the rail of course, she's got that "hang me in a shoulder harness under your jacket and I'll protect the hood" look to her.. Beautiful Sly,, just gorgeous!! You even own a Beretta and/or got any shooting time experience to be able to compare the two Sly? I would be more than curious of your take (or anyones for that matter) between the two... That Bersa do ok handling low velocity to +P's with no tuning between loads?

WOWZY WOW WOW WOW ,, gotta hand it to Jeff = he never was one to bring a knife to gunfight:cool10:!!! TOTALLY AWESOME BROTHER FOOL = 100% GUNGORGEOUS:guitarist 2:( - I think I just coined a new varmint word:checkeredflag:)!! Couple questions,,, how did ya cock the thing? Looks like ya unscrew unscrew a breech plate to load it? Noticing the orange tip on the '08 round in the pic,, you shooting tracers in that puppy? BEAUTIFUL!! ,, so what other kind of one off, gungorgeous, tank destroying shooters of mass oblivation ya got hidden in the walls behind the Wisconsin White Washer my FRIEND (emphathis on FRIENDS = right?)

Very good chance of that, my Blond Royale was an 84 and it did have all the goodies including the CB (I think I still have the CB out of it in a box somewhere) but like Cha said here, that may have had it's start in 84. I am also not sure on the colors. All my 83's have been Maroon in color and I am not sure that they even offered Blonde in 83. @Chaharly, was your 83 a Blonde (Alevia Gold or something like that I think was the actual color). Definitely got us some Yamaha history lessons happening here -

My Blonde was the Royale,, only one I ever had. A full Royale had all the goodies ( Electronic Cruise, CB, Intercom, AM/FM/Cassette, onboard compressor for the boingers, dash with gear indicator to name a few) and included "Royale" emblems where the Standards were basic bikes.. If you had a picture of the dash we could tell you whether or not it was a Royale for sure. I could snap a quick pic of the dash on my Standard for you if you would like something to compare with but basically, the Royale had an extra "window" (or two,, trying to remember if there was also a difference in check mode windows too or something on my Royale).. Just thought of something, the Royales also had the radio/CB/Intercom controls up above the clutch perch,, gonna go back and look at your pics and see if I can see them... Maybe a quick way to tell. -
Two barrel carb swap
cowpuc replied to BlueSky's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
While I TOTALLY hear what your saying Case and am 100% enthused about seeing the testing and all that too,,, I still wonder though if a person who is mechanically inclined to the point of making the swap and dialing it in would also be entirely capable with a cheap set of gauges be able to, in about 20 minutes, dial in a good sync.. Dont get me wrong though brother,, I LOVE the whole modding scene but WOWZY,, if a person had to pay a custom shop to develop/build/tune/dyno a single carb setup I got a hunch they would be into some serious outlay... IMHO,, those joints dont work cheap.. By the way,, LOVE your take and thoughts on the V-Max!! Get er done and have some fun Case!!
