Sorry,, I just stark ravin CRAZY when I see a gorgeous 1st Gen like that being RESCUED!!! :dancefool::dancefool::dancefool: No CB but she definitely got the Class Controls and emblem - ROYALE SHE IS!!!
  4. EXCELLENT REPORTING THERE FOOL!! EXCELLENT!! So,, whats the farthest kill you've pulled with it and whats the closest? I had a 7 mag (was a Ruger with the safety on the comb,, LOVED the gun and took several White Tail with it BUT, had one accidental discharge due to carrying it thru Michigan THICK stuff by the comb and unknowingly knocking the safety off = thankfully was hunting alone = scared the CRAP out me - sold the gun a week later and warned buyer to watch carrying by the comb!!) that I had a shoot thru on a nice 6 point and some bone head hunter got to him before I do - he went about 150 yards with a 7mm hole thru him.. Went into town (place called "Dublin" = world known for their Jerky!!), bought a small spade drill and commenced to making my own brand of Hollow Points by hollow pointin em by hand with the spade drill.. Two days later blew a 3 inch exit wound shoulder to shoulder on a spike = tipped em over like he'd been hit by a semi.. Must of been my homemade Hollow Points didnt have near the expansion rate of your Nosler's
  5. YammerDan would have fist bumped ya for that comment brother!! One of the guys at the International in Alabama had one that was absolutely AMAZING,,, DEFINITELY one heck of purdy machine Cha!!! Oppssss,,, my bad,,, his was the later model MK2,,,, still a wayyyy purdy, well taken care of machine in its own right though!!
  6. Wayyy cool ya lop eared 1st Gen ridin varmint,, WAYYY COOL! Was just educatin myself by taking a peek in the clubs "History" section and reading thru the "color" section therein.. Found out the Blonde was one of the colors offered for 83's too,, NICE!! Something that has me puzzled now though,, according to VR records there, a solid maroon 83 like 5 of my 6 MK1's have been was NOT offered ,, just the two tone maroon (cant recall what the actual colors were there but I have seen numerous 2 tone maroons in real life - never had one though = matter of fact, one of the attendees at The Dalles rally in Oregon we made was riding one) was offered.. Only solid, non-two tone listed is Black :confused24:
  7. ,, Tuffy must be buying bulk ammo and is having so much fun with that AWESOME 5 inch XD that he's still on the range How'd she do at the 50 yard mark tufftom4? By the way brother,, what does one get for the "Mod 2" name? Match bushing/barrel?
  8. NICE SHOOTER THERE SLY!! I have never checked out the Bersa line (always wanted a Beretta 92F for many of the known qualities you have listed here) but will DEFINITELY sneek-a-peek next gun show I attend! Sounds like you are onto it like a hound on a snowshoe!! Minus the Lazer ya got hangin on the rail of course, she's got that "hang me in a shoulder harness under your jacket and I'll protect the hood" look to her.. Beautiful Sly,, just gorgeous!! You even own a Beretta and/or got any shooting time experience to be able to compare the two Sly? I would be more than curious of your take (or anyones for that matter) between the two... That Bersa do ok handling low velocity to +P's with no tuning between loads?
  9. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW ,, gotta hand it to Jeff = he never was one to bring a knife to gunfight:cool10:!!! TOTALLY AWESOME BROTHER FOOL = 100% GUNGORGEOUS:guitarist 2:( - I think I just coined a new varmint word:checkeredflag:)!! Couple questions,,, how did ya cock the thing? Looks like ya unscrew unscrew a breech plate to load it? Noticing the orange tip on the '08 round in the pic,, you shooting tracers in that puppy? BEAUTIFUL!! ,, so what other kind of one off, gungorgeous, tank destroying shooters of mass oblivation ya got hidden in the walls behind the Wisconsin White Washer my FRIEND (emphathis on FRIENDS = right?)
  10. Very good chance of that, my Blond Royale was an 84 and it did have all the goodies including the CB (I think I still have the CB out of it in a box somewhere) but like Cha said here, that may have had it's start in 84. I am also not sure on the colors. All my 83's have been Maroon in color and I am not sure that they even offered Blonde in 83. @Chaharly, was your 83 a Blonde (Alevia Gold or something like that I think was the actual color). Definitely got us some Yamaha history lessons happening here
  11. My Blonde was the Royale,, only one I ever had. A full Royale had all the goodies ( Electronic Cruise, CB, Intercom, AM/FM/Cassette, onboard compressor for the boingers, dash with gear indicator to name a few) and included "Royale" emblems where the Standards were basic bikes.. If you had a picture of the dash we could tell you whether or not it was a Royale for sure. I could snap a quick pic of the dash on my Standard for you if you would like something to compare with but basically, the Royale had an extra "window" (or two,, trying to remember if there was also a difference in check mode windows too or something on my Royale).. Just thought of something, the Royales also had the radio/CB/Intercom controls up above the clutch perch,, gonna go back and look at your pics and see if I can see them... Maybe a quick way to tell.
  12. While I TOTALLY hear what your saying Case and am 100% enthused about seeing the testing and all that too,,, I still wonder though if a person who is mechanically inclined to the point of making the swap and dialing it in would also be entirely capable with a cheap set of gauges be able to, in about 20 minutes, dial in a good sync.. Dont get me wrong though brother,, I LOVE the whole modding scene but WOWZY,, if a person had to pay a custom shop to develop/build/tune/dyno a single carb setup I got a hunch they would be into some serious outlay... IMHO,, those joints dont work cheap.. By the way,, LOVE your take and thoughts on the V-Max!! Get er done and have some fun Case!!
  13. Top line, forth from the left = "MEMBERSHIP", click on that and pay thru Paypal (as I recall,, been a while).. Or: https://www.venturerider.org/forum/payments.php Or,, get with @Freebird,,, the Boss will set cha right up!
  14. Seems viable Cha but still wonder of unplugging it (cant never go wrong going by the book) and cleaning the terminals real well and checking the lead for 12vdc and then jumpering like the book says would be the better option if you can get at it. Clean those terminals on the TCI real well too..
  15. If I hadn't of timed out cause of health, wouldn't have had a wife and 4 kids to provide for so I was busy splittin cases on resell's back when I started riding these sweethearts and knew what I know now about these bikes (thanks to my friends here on VR = special thanks to VenturousRandy for all the time he put into hammering out gear ratio's and educating me on this ), I would have grabbed one like you are buying, pulled the engine, split the cases and put in the updated hardened shim(s) to cure the 2nd gear issue and then proceeded to procure and install a gearset out of a Gen 2 to give me a lower 1st and higher 5th.. I have a solid gut feeling that my good friend Randy REALLY had it nailed and would have LOVED to give his hard work in RnD a run for the money!! On the other hand though, it really is a shame that Mom Yam didn't recall ALL 1st Gens sold up to the final fix that came in 85.. I know,, probably would have cost us "buy em cheap with no 2nd gear at 30k miles and then chase em out to 250,000 by short shifting" types in the end BUT, I still cant help but wonder if having done so might just of created a REAL Wing :stickpoke:if they had done so... IMHO, once the news gets out that there are major motor issues it is just a matter of time before the malady starts effecting sales.. Especially in todays day and age with social media.. Had the "Net" been around back then, I really wonder if our beloved Ventures would not have went the way of the Cavalcade if Mom Yam hid from the issue and only addressed it on a non-recall status like she did. Not complaining AT ALL though cause I REALLY have enjoyed the 100's of thousand of basically problem free and no cost touring it all did for me and my family but it still was not a good thing for the brand IMHO ..
  16. My guess is it's the vacuum operated spark advance Cha. Another guess would be that if you followed the vacuum line you see coming out of it it would lead to the number 2 jug (left side front cylinder, left side when sitting on the bike = same side as the shifter is on. On the 83's that line is not plugged into the nipple on the intake where you hook the sync gauges to but, I believe on all following 1st Gens (I know the 84's are like this cause my 1st first gen was an 84 and it was) had that line hooked directly onto the intake nipple in place of the rubber plug like the other 3 jugs are. Simply put, vacuum on that line is what advances/retards the ignition timing.. Thats my guess buddy!! Now hang out for a spell and see what the gurus say..
  17. I did the same cause @videoarizona said to:whistling: and told Sly about it:happy34:,,, heyyyyy,,, wait a second,,, am I startin to see a pattern developing here VR MC
