  1. Quick Sly,, alter another one:missingtooth: before Fool see's this!!!! He's a finicky lop eared varmint who dont take kindly to varmints :stickpoke: The Wisconsin White Washer which usually ends up with the lop eared :stickpoke:varmint who :stickpoke:The WWW covered in and the innocent varmints between the WWW and that varmint (in this case,, that would be an innocent varmint like myself:cold:) ends up suffering the brunt of it all I know,, I know I know,,, close the door on the penalty box Puc cause your ways a leaking out all over the VR clubhouse floor,, again..
  2. ,, that Bongo,, he dont miss a lick!! You are spot on Bongo!!! It DEFINITELY has that vague assault aura about it dont it.. If I didnt have one just like it already in my AR collection I would be CTFW(s) down to HR to grab one myself just because of that!! GOOD ONE BROTHER!!
  3. Thinking of ya @Flyinfool!!! https://www.harborfreight.com/1-18-in-sds-variable-speed-pro-rotary-hammer-kit-64288.html?utm_source=1021&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=1019PLS&cid=mEmail_s1021_1019PLS&lid=56,501,885
  4. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,,, THAT is SHARP Chief!!! Never was a trailer pullin kinda varmint and partly because of the thought of any weird things that having no brakes on the trailer might create (like having to do an emergency manuever in a corner at hi speeds). Have you pulled a trailer behind a scoot with no brakes on the trailer before (as you mention,, that would be the "common" design from what I have seen)? If so,, what are thoughts on the comparison between the two? NICE Chief,, REALLY NICE!! By the way,, I assume your trailer brakes are electric? Or are they "bump" activated hydraulics?
  5. :rotfl: You fit real nicely with this group of lop eared varmints
  6. AWESOME!!! Thanks again for the info!!! If it works out I will probably post up a YouTube Video of its dynamics.. If so, I will mention your screen name and cut you in on half the huge proceeds made from advertising the product for them !!! Seriously though my friend, I hope the stuff works as well for me as it has for you,,, there is NOTHING worse than being 1000 miles from home and having float valves stick open because of rust particals from a rusted tank...
  7. ,, oh yeahhhhhh,,, :Hitit:BIG TIME!! For the life of me I cant remember the owners name Cha but gotta tell ya,, this guy is/was the master of care!! Thing was gorgeous.. :think:Definitely not my style though,, I would pull into a parking lot with something that purdy and some punk kid with a bent wheeled chopped Sportster with a spooly with a nail where the front axle is suppose to be on the front of it would have his only remaining brake decide to fail and him and his Chop would land against it:sign07:,,,, Murphies law and all that.. Gotta tell ya Cha,, the scoot that the OP of this thread is grabbing for 500 bucks could look as good IMHO... @made2care,, you got a LOT there to work with!!
  8. Thanks Boss,, preciate it.. And concerning the Venture auction... Was lookin at the list of lop eared varmints ya got goin there,, pretty impressive IMHO.. I do see a couple of su,, varmints that I know are LOADED and that have a bent toward the biker life style,,, I gotta hunch that after I skim my auction fee's off the top, you will be very happy with whats left over Any idea whether or not Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky is happening during MD again? I know they made some changes,, be cool if they made em just to line back up with VR MD:stickpoke:
  9. IMHO, my V-Max was actually geared lower than my Mk1's.. I know it had a smaller rear rim/tire (15 inch instead of 16 like the MK1/MK2's and, while I know very little about gear ratioing, I am pretty sure that alone would be a downward move it gearing. I also believe the rear end/final drive in the early model V-Max's (pre block 1700 that some of us were hoping would find its way into the new Venture) were geared down, not up, when compared to the MK1's and MK2's.. I don't know if you have access to manuals but I have some,, including the V-Max, that I will do some research on to compare ratio's when I get a second.. Suggest you do the same so we are both the same page?
  10. Was gonna just PM the Boss and ask him this but thought I would post the question here in case others are considering this.. @Freebird,, I know from past experience that vendors (like Pin Striping and such) are welcome at MD but, for some reason (probably suffering memory loss of some sort) I dont recall whether or not you allow on-site Swap Meetin (buy/sell parts?) at your place during MD? I have a gaggle of left over bling parts (take offs from Tweeksis) that I will drag along with me if allowed and if we are able to make it this year (my daughter keeps reminding me that she is coming back home to get hitched earlier in the month). No junk (guy before Larry who owned Tweeksis REALLY did a nice job of caring for the Chrome on this stuff), just some pretty cool stuff that someone may or may not be interested in... If not a good plan,, if I post the stuff in "Parts for Sale" here on the forums and someone wants to buy the ju,, bling,,, is drop off/pick up at MD allowed? I know,, I know,, why are you (Don) always the one who ends up paying the cost of my curiousity.. Another quick question,,, you gonna be good with me auctioning off your brand new Venture like I did with your HD last time I showed up down yonder :duck::duck::duck::duck: Back in the penalty box! Puc
  11. you sure bout that Patch? I did some gear swappin and, best of recall (dont take this verbatim though cause my recall aint what it used to be), the MK1 and MK2's had the same teeth count to grind,, all the way back.. Now maybe at the clutch basket or basket drive gear,, not sure on that.. Have ridden both and didnt notice a real difference between them ratio wise either.. Also fairly sure they have the same rim/tire sizes (looked carefully at em cause I wanted to go Darkside but the MK2's suffered the same malady as the MK1 for that application) so the up gear/taller set up of which you speak can't be caused by that... Hmmmm,, maybe some research by both of us to find out what is going on here = two brothers open to gettin schooled and taking on the task = dont get no better than that!
  12. Or the stock carbs need syncin cause the linkages, bushings, diaphrams, vacuum hoses and even screws that control them are old, tired and worn out.. Just like some of the riders who those amazing fastest, most comfortable, reliable 1st Gens who haul them are:witch_brew:
  13. Actually,, its not the "teeth" that are Hobbed on the gears that suffer at all Patch, after suffering tolerance stack between the ramps when the soft shim wears, the mating gear windows and its matching engagement cogs are the ones that suffer the fate. Even this is commonly not noticeable on the gearset's when viewed by an untrained gearhead as the wear is not that obvious. I have been splitting cases and repairing bike trannies for many years (for resale, yes but brother,, landing jumps on an MX track and landing with your foot on a shifter has created many needs for this as bent shifting forks can/will (IMHO) cause the same calamity. The "shavings" from ramp up wear/tear are very tiny and very seldom even found on the drain magnet.. Have never ever ever found a missing tooth of any sort in all my wearing completely out a 1st Gen with 2nd gear gone,, just doesnt seem to happen.. While I never did have a 1st Gen tranny apart, I have seen several examples of them (the complete gear sets with drive axles and shift drum) and gotta say,,, they are VERY solid.. I always thought my KX500 had wayyy over built gears in her but gotta tell ya,, the width and quality of the gears in these puppies are impressive,,, all IMHO of course.. By the way,, Tip only got off the bike to take a short = "watch this you guys,, this is one of the main reasons I do not pull a trailer" video.. Normally she just hangs on and goes for it right behind her man!!! And nope,, been riding a full trannied 1st Gen now for good while (THANK YOU AGAIN Carbon_One and Joyce for saving Tweeksis just for us!!) and can verify,, absolutely no difference in MPG at all.. Be it slow riding up mountain passes or CTFW all day across the empty but GORGEOUS western desert at a moderate 95 MPH (Tip has me "governed" below 100 with her on the scoot),, same super MPG either way... Now drop a diaphram on a slide so she's running on 3? That will DEFINITELY cut into the MPG but that happens 2nd gear or no 2nd gear...
  14. Cool!! I went pmag on my mags too, seem to be a pretty good product and I LOVE their Lifetime warranty. Grabbed a couple 20 rounders for both the 556 and the 7.62/'08 and a pmag 50rd drum for the 08. I did end up with a 100rd Korean Drum for the 556 and REALLY like the quality. Got it brand new/dirt cheap off an auction. Its the latest generation (must be slippin in my old age Skid,,, you know me and my love for 1st Gens:think:) that, like the pmag Drum, requires no graphite lube = maintenance free). Here's those pics of our AR family,, top is our 556, big brother 7.62x51 and grand daddy 12 gauge on the bottom.. Life is good MayAR,, life is good!!
  15. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW:178::178::178::178: NICE SKIDDER!!!! VERY VERY NICE!!! See you went full length M-Lok on the guard on this one = real purdy!! I did 3/4 length Key-Mod on my recent 556 build and love it BUT the AR10 I just grabbed came with a full length M-Lok like yours and I REALLY like it too! What did you come up with for a BCG on this one? I went "full auto" (and no,, that has NOTHING to do with it being full auto - just means it has some extra meat on the back of the bolt) with mine as I like the added strength. What chamber, twist and barrel length you choose for this one Skid? I dropped in a very inexpensive 16", 1:7 Wylde chambered ($39 at Durkins) BUT, been watching Durkins site (they run some pretty good sales) for a 20" Stainless in 1:8 Wylde - saw one on sale there over the winter at 1/2 price and shoulda grabbed the confounded thing but was in the process of piecing mine together so chose not to spend more $$$'s (even though Sylvester was REALLY pushing me to empty my wallet,,,, said he wouldnt loan me no $$$'s so I had to pass ).. You stick an adjustable gas block in yours? I have been playing with a drop in 22LR conversion kit in mine (LOTS OF FUN) for the little bit of shootin Tip and I been able to do cause of and it is blow back so I really have not had a chance to go thru my smathering of 556 and 223 steel and brass ammo I grabbed to test it with so I dont know if I will have to default to an adustable or not.. VERY interested on what you did with yours and how ya came out with whatever you chose. Now I gotta go in my AR room and grab a pic or two of our winter fun to show ya.. Till then,, CONGRATS on the AWESOME build brother - JUST BEAUTIFUL!! P.S. - so is it now Mayor Skid? Or should I say,, MayAR Skid :big-grin-emoticon: Puc
  16. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW :178::178::178:Vick,, she is GORGEOUS :178::178:!! Truly a job very well done there brother!!!! Couple things on the tune,,, if you havent done so and are using old plug wires, I would unscrew the plug caps, clip a 1/4 inch off the end of each wire to be sure I had mitigated any chance of resistance,, then I would Ohm out (check resistance) the caps.. Also check for any form of carbon tracking. I would also make sure that I had a good, OEM air filter in the box and that the cover fit well. While there I would take a long screw driver and, without having to take the diaphram covers back off, carefully slide the slides to make sure nothing is hangin up there. Understanding that these puppies really do not take throttle well until warmed to operating temp, I would refrain from spit/finger testing at this point and use a Laser Temp Taker (cheap at HF,, think I paid 15 bucks for mine and it works awesome) to "shoot" each header as the bike warmed starting right at first start and all the way up to op temp, getting a really good handle on whether or not all are hitting. I would also pay special attention to typical warm up exhaust "steam/smoke" so I knew I was dealing with pipes that were not plugged with mice nests. If she is coming up on all four on choke and the temp verifies it and they are all staying pretty close all the way to op temp, then I would give her a really good rump of 15 or 20 miles and see if we smiled at each other after that:big-grin-emoticon:.. Give er a chance to settle in some after being rescued and now in the hands of the Master Builder,, which you obviously are brother!!! On the Color Tune, I would dial em all in to that purdy blue flame range and run it. Maybe revisit the Color Tune after ya get some miles on it and see if its changed. Word of note though, if you end up clipping the plug wires a tad and Ohming old caps,, you might wanna recheck the Color Tune cause even the slightest resistance on those caps can cause some serious funk in the combustion chamber.. Hope this helps,, GLAD YOU GOT HER ON HER FEET BROTHER! Just GORGEOUS!!:bowdown: YOU DA MAN VICK!!!!!! Puc
  17. You are more than welcome for the info on the YouTube channel @mlgower = VERY glad you found me there and are enjoying some of my sideways perspectives of life in general found there. I really appreciate the + feedback my friend! Thanks! Puc
  18. Your welcome on the heads up my friend, anytime. Have numerous tank cleans and Red Kote (good stuff!!) coatings and the like and have never heard of or tried Evapo Rust, learn something new everyday! Have acided many, used/use White Vinigar soak (slow but effective on lighter rust), used electrolisis numerous times, and when a kid even used the old shake n bake rocks/nuts/bolts a few times to derust em.. Just checked Ebay, found/ordered this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Evapo-Rust-Super-Safe-Rust-Remover-Non-Toxic-Removes-from-Bare-Metal-32oz/183455385164?epid=1152380227&hash=item2ab6cb064c%3Ag%3Ay9AAAOSw9A5bq9EP&LH_ItemCondition=3000%7C1000%7C2500 Hopefully got the right stuff my friend!! I have a couple (well,, ok,, more than 2) bikes in storage that I KNOW at least 2 of them need their tanks cleaned! Win, lose or draw,,, I will give Evapo Rust a shot!! Now its my turn, thank you for the heads up!! Puc
  19. !!! Of course,,, a full fledged club report is in order once ya get er spooned on, balanced and wrung out on the road right brother Installation 101:
  20. This is CRAZY!!!!!! Good read but just flat out nuts!! https://vizardsgunsandammo.com/blog/hipoint-warranty-center-finds-carbine-barrel-stuffed-with-35-bullets/
  21. If you pull the seat,, you will find the sending unit "trap door" on the top of the tank = couple bolts and BINGO = PLENTY of room to look right into the inside of the tank to see what your dealing with.. Dont forget to either rub the roof with a finger tip or take a peek with mirror at the roof of the tank for stalagtites of rust there too.. It's amazing how little bit of rust dust that even the best of the best inline filters can not mitigate, that it takes to really mess up a very expensive carb overhaul...
  22. GREAT IDEA 40 :clap2:... Wonder if doing it with a syringe to pull the vacuum if you could test the viability/integrity of the vacuum line system in the process,, DEFINITELY got the old beaner thinking here @luvmy40 = YOU DA MAN!! Thanks!
  23. I had a 22/250 bull barreled 700 Rem that I LOVED.. What a really really fun, long range, reach out and touch the crows shooter she was!! I spent hours and hours counting rifle powder "root beer barrels" (what I called those little granuals of powder) in hand loading for that thing.. Very time consuming BUT lots of rewarding fun!! Only thing was, being a little a light weight side of shootin lead,, cross winds were really challenging.. Out past 300 yards and ya really had to be on your toes. Still though,, LOTS of fairly inexpensive shooting fun (reloads) back in the day.. Know what your saying Sly,, this getting old and cold weather stiff is crazyiness and this kind of thread/yakkin shooters all winter with my good buddies has been a true blessing. Lots of fun!! Tip's really gettin into it all too.. Just got the lazer bore sighter (all the way from China for $3) for her new skeet busting 12 gauge. Been playing with it here,,, pulled the sights on her shotgun in using the lazer and now having her raise to point of aim and say "bang" when she is sighted on a variety of targets (like that door knob, speaker on the wall, stuffed bear in the corner), all while I watch the location of the lazer on the target to see how her "point of aim" is doing... I was telling her of the old school saying that shooters lived by in my time that said "good, accurate gun handlers dry fire their shooters,,, A LOT" and now she knows what/why I was referring to.. She's getting pretty sharp... Cant wait for warm weather to see her put a whooping on those boxes of clays stacked in the garage :dancefool:. I have thouroughly enjoyed all the too Sly.. THANK YOU for participating my brother!!!
  24. About the same price range as a 92f clone Taurus,,, good price if she's a good grouper/shooter Sly, and by the sounds of things,, it is:thumbsup:!! Checkin out Gunbroker as I type here,, I LOVE combining my love for the auction action (predatory?) with the joy of gettin a really good deal.. GunDeals shows this as the best price,, this like yours? https://www.g4gguns.com/products/accessories-bersa-tpr9dt-091664960151-322 One of the HUGE things I LOVE about my 1911 (and also the Beretta 92 line = other than the police "D" model that is DA only) is the SA end of the deal. I spent a fair amount of time shootin (and hunting with) a Smith 29 6" 44 mag and learned early on of the accuracy advantage of having SA at the finger tips. That Bersa is a handsome shooter being DA/SA. Almost looks like very well done upgraded "1911" platform,, love the looks of the additional "hump" on the grip back too. That is something that makes the Beretta fit point of aim better to my hands.. Also seeing the little kick out on the forward bottom of the grip frame too .. Beginning to see why you really like this one!! Yours the 4 1/2 inch barrel?
  25. Been a long time,, I gotta 1/2 box of them in my has been shooting supplies , along with 30/30, 300 Savage, 44 mag, black powder stuff a bunch of dull Bear Broadheads with missing inserts in a box up in the garage. Next time I am up there trying to chase a bird out of the trusses I will check and see what they were but I have a hunch they were/are 150 or even 170 grain (if 170's were available back then), soft points for sure. Only reason I say that is I always LOVED brush hunting White Tail, over here on the West Coast of Michigan there is PLENTY of good, thick, State/Federal lands over flowing with White Tail that are soooooo much fun to harvest!! Now ya got me wondering Jeff,, I will have to do some diggin and see if I can find em.. Silver and Black box of factory stuff as I recall,, might of had some red on it too:scratchchin:...
