  1. I hear ya brother!!! Story behind the camera with a good case of the blurries,,,,, it's my biken camera - one of those puppies that has been dropped numerous times but has been the King of Survival while out CTFW so I have no problem carrying it off on manuvers with us.. Tip and I had been out in the swamp lands behind the Dunes of Muskegon State Park looking for a buried Army Tank with the sniffers - perferably a Sherman if we could find one.. At the bottom of hill was a fairly good sized mud hole that caught me as I slid down the hill. The Camera was in my right pocket which just happened to be the same side of my body I had slid on so it broke my slide and went face first into the mud hole. It's dried out now, still works fine but was obviously not totally dried out when I took that vid... Oh well,, I figured even a mud blurry video was better than no video
  2. ,, :sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On: Now THAT is what I am TALKIN ABOUT Snype!!! :dancefool: Quick,, she's runnin,,toss a leg and head west!! About the keys,, seems like there was someone who had the blanks and was making key's for the 1st Gens around here Snype,, its been a longggg time since I noticed his/her ad but,,, maybe do some digging in the Vendor area or parts are or something cause I am almost sure I saw it,,, of course,, maybe that was during a time when they had me on Morphine and I was halucynatin but I dont think so,, but maybe:Bunny2:
  3. Ok, just thought of another one.. Remember here that I aint never worked on an RSV but,, some scoots use a vacuum petcock on em. I KNOW for fact that even some Yamaha's use em because I have rebuilt several of em thru the years = if my memory is correct, I did several 650 Yam builds (Chopper stuff) and I am almost certain they had em.. Anyway, if the diaphram in a vacuum petcock goes south it is VERY possible for the vacuum to actually suck raw fuel into the source of the vacuum! This could also apply to ANY vacuum operated device in the fuel system = something to check,,, maybe? Maybe not? Oh yea,, also dont forget to double check your oil for gas contamination, in my world - just because it didnt hydrolock doesn't mean old brother Murph didn't get involved and sneak some raw fuel past the rings = sneaky varmint that Murph!! Hope ya get er going brother cause SPRING IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:biker::biker::biker: All the best in the repair! Puc
  4. Sup Koz... First thought was possibly a saturated float = easily checked by floatin em in cup O' gas and see how they float, but being two jugs,, hmmm.. What did the bowls in the carbs look like when ya tore em down? Any rust particles? Maybe mirror your tank and look for rust? Note that if you find any, IMHO, you can't stop the stuff from passing into the carbs by filtering,, ya gotta clean the tank and, if its bad = seal it with Red Kote. Another possibility could be plugged vent lines on the carbs.. Most carbs have very small hoses hanging from them (unless they got lost during a clean up) that serve as vents for the bowl/inner carb body. If those get plugged, it is possible (again - IMHO) for pressure to build and flooding to occur. Those RSV's got an "off" position on a fuel petcock (never owned one)? Maybe try shutting the fuel off, starting the bike, run it till she cleans out real well and comes back up on 4, run it till she just starts to run out of fuel, tap on those bowls again like you did and see if it corrects. Do it with the bike sitting upright. Maybe the bowls got low and those two carbs had the floats hang up in em.. All I got right now.. Keeps us posted!
  5. ,,,,, brother I dont know what beddy bye Fairy Tale books you been reading to your kids Wendy but I guarantee you that I am not in em .. You aint livin in one of those zones where Pot got legalized and campin downwind of some Acapolco Gold franchise are ya
  6. I thought that same thing Jeff but figured what the hayy,, for a replacement Res - if it did have a site glass it probably indicates it is an actual Brake Res,, maybe for 2001 JuJitsu Mini Bike but still worthy of the job
  7. You are all welcome my bothers, I KNEW that others beside myself would really enjoy and share some tears with me over this one. So precious is the freedom we in the States and other regions in the world have benefited from because of the willingness of the millions men and women who were, and still are, willing to stand for our way of life = the real hero's of America and the free world! Unlike some of you varmints who actually have family members who laid it all on the line for our way of life and/or have done so yourselves (THANK YOU!), I never had that. I did have the privilage of dating a girl in my younger days who father was a Navy man who's Medal's of Valor and Commendations I got to behold (he didnt talk about it all but his daughter and I snuck into his "Memorial Chest" one time and WOWZY WOW WOW WOW = what an amazing history lesson that was!!). Bob (her dad) served in the Pacific Theater - "givin it to them Japs" as I overheard him saying to the WW2 Veterans that we shot with at the VFW shooting range many years ago. He and I were very good friends, we hunted and fished together a lot back then and whenever he made the journey to the competition shoots on the range where a large group of men, just like the those in this video, would gather - drink a few beers (OK,, LOTS OF BEERS) and then start talking together about what happened over there = I would set at the table with them and just listen (and ). It was an HONOR to just be in the presence of such giants:usa: To this day, I know - this is probably wrong because modern day correctness demands that the truth of this stuff not be talked about, I still believe/feel that part of our societal issues revolve around the fact that people, both young and old, do not hear enough about the true price of the freedoms we still enjoy.. Anyway, I was so touched by this video that I just had to share, penalty box or no penalty box You welcome! Puc
  8. I actually like what I see,, maybe not all of the finished product BUT, mostly because of what Bongo stated above = someone obviously took some steps for improvement AND he told you about it!! Looking at the picture of what the guy came up with (and I may be seeing things) - I think I see a window at the bottom of the replacement res that indicates to me that whoever replaced the OEM = used an actual Brake Res for replacement.. I actually admire the guy for doing something and telling you he did it. One of my 1st Gens came to me with 24k miles on it, original owner, blown second gear (why I got it so cheap) but the scoot was really purdy. The guy I got it from said he bought it new, rode it very little but the shop he bought it from did all the maintenance/oil changes and stuff on it. Crazy as it sounds, got it home, was going thru things (bike had sat for a long time) including brake fluid swap,, went to pull the plug on the OEM res and the plug with a large chunck of the res spilt off with hardly no pressure at all.. Looking closely at the part in my hand I clearly could see that someone had snapped the thing off in the past and made a nice, but VERY temporary, repair of the area with some form of adhesive instead of replacing the broken res.. Of course,, from what the guy who I bought the bike from had told me,, I could only assume that probably, somewhere, in some back room of a Yamaha Shop, works a mechanic who.... Personally,, I would have rather of seen what you have there Cool!! If the hoses are in fact deterorating,, no,, regardless of that,,,, if it were mine I would pull the hose from the connection where it attaches to the master cylinder and,, wait a second,, just go to this link and follow the suggestion for cleaning things up = you may be very glad you did: https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?12536-Stranded-with-brakes-sticking-and-heating-up-Read-this
  9. I think I got blessed with what ever you didnt grab when the Lord was passing out the love for Mil Surp brother.. I have always loved the stuff. Back in the 80's I was managed at a College in Cadillac Michigan and not to far from the school was a full blown, Guv run Mil Surp outlet.. They had TONS of stuff, even some left over from all the way back to WW1 (not a lot = cool Dough Boy helmets though). Lots of WW2 vintage truck/trailers and even metal cutting equipment off ships and stuff. Gas masks, rubber rain suits,, crazy stuff.. I LOVED to walk the place. Ya had to have a Non-Prof Business "card" (issued by them) to even get into the place but it was fun.. I also worked with a guy here in Michigan who wanted to own the big stuff.. He worked around red tape by starting a Military Museum = WOWZY WOW WOW WOW did that open the doors to FUN!!! Thinking about this,, here's a funny one Jack, not to long ago I had to go on a strict excersize program.. While down for the count, spending hours on the couch watching stuff on YouTube I picked up on folks into Treasure Hunting with Metal Detectors = bought Tip and I each one and set out on our treasure hunting excersize program.. Start at 4:20 on the time line in the video below to find out just how deeply my love for Mil Surp goes:dancefool::

  12. Ohhhh I did Duey,,, I TOTALLY did!! :big-grin-emoticon: Speaking of mpg's Duey,,, I wonder if these lop eared varmints knew that besides being downright fun, ridin nekid also has a mpg increase = less drag ya know..
  13. Hey Sly,, one of the short comings of missing part of my bladder cause of Cancer surgery is an increased need to peeee,, peeeing is NOT a problem on my end so,, if for some reason Fitz cant make it to MD,, you can always just leave your boots parked outside our tent and, when you retrieve them in the morning they will be fully Preserved!!!
  14. 100% AWESOME FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FREE AMMO? Yea,,, even the rubber on my tenner shoes woulda been shhhmoken on that one!!!! Makes me just shake my head in wonderment when ever I hear the chatter claiming "this is an assault rifle,, sporting rifles are good,, assault rifles are bad" routine.. Funny how little the unknowing know about the things that they claim to know so much about aint it?,,, did say that right:scratchchin: LOVE THE SHOOTER = brings back TONS of memories (minus the paint job = I like em nicked up and battle scarred - even with a little cosmoline still hangin from the bayonette lug - flaw in my charactor I reckon:confused24:
  15. I thought the same thing Bongo ,,,, matter of fact,, when I first saw it I yelped at Tippy and said: LOOK HONEY,, JEFF MADE A RAINBOW!!!!! GOOD ONE Flyinfool!!
  16. IMHO, THIS IS AMAZING and very refreshing.. The truth about the price of the freedom we Americans enjoy everyday is so clearly spoken by these Veteran's that it brought tears to my eyes. If you watch this, listen closely to their stories and see if you too can see the reality and truth in what they are saying. And they are still saluting (watch it all) for freedom's sake,, are we? Puc
  17. and Tip and I both had a blast showing you around, workin on the scoots AND,, getting to finally settle that enduring question of the ages once and f,,,, heyyyy wait a second here:178:,,, did you just say RIBS:178: and ,,, forget that funky trying to coax one of our bike to go faster,,,, it's time for FOOD :fatsmiley:!!!! We can talk about whose scoot is faster while we're chowing down brother
  18. You DID AWESOME ON THAT Maddy!! Absolutely PERFECT if it's as stated!! OUTSTANDING $$ TOO IMHO!! Hats off to @Johnnycyclone for spotting and forwarding that deal = THANKS JOHNNYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!! $39 bucks for a stripped and ready to ship TITLED FRAME = totally AWESOME find Johnny = thanks again for jumpin in to help out a friend!! Stuff like THAT is what makes belonging to our awesome club so much fun!! You are more than welcome Maddy, all the very best on your build brother! I saw that too Jeff but noticed the "SOLD" on the small, recent icon picture of an actual frame and was and had a gut feeling that it was Maddy who bought it!! HE DID!! How cool!! :sign yeah that:
  19. This is probably gonna turn into another wayyy out there mindless Puc idea but,,, back years ago, when gas was 17 cents a gallon and I didnt have 2 nickles to rub together so MPG was a bid deal (0 dollars for fuel x .17 a gallon = 0 gallons of fuel until math laws became irrelevant a few years ago) I actually toyed with using Vacuum Gauges for fuel economy. I had a great big whoopin Vac gauge mounted on the steering colum of my 65 Barrcuda (rear window in that sweetheart was to DIE FOR = GORGEOUS!! It also had the coolest little "vent box" on the passenger side with a little flip handle to open it that was the absolute perfect size for a box of Genuine M-80's!! I digress) with a Hose Clamp that actually added many miles for each gallon of fuel to my lofty youthful adventures. Thru a little experimentation I learned from watching that Vacuum Gauge that I could increase my MPG's significantly by staying in the low vac section on the gauge.. Fast forward to present day and age and our new car = his name is Trooper. Troops a Hybrid Ionic Blue and we have seen into the 60 mpg range with him on many occasions. One of the HUGE things that promotes this is by paying attention to a little gauge on his dash that, though electronic (no vacuum lines running up to steer coloum on Trooper), still reads like that old vacuum gauge of yesteryear. Matter of fact,, I actually have a sneaking hunch Troops Econ Gauge is actually somehow reading vacuum. IMHO, this all is applicable to our bikes in that, if a rider can learn to be mindful of throttle positioning and to "feel" when he is hitting high vacuum - which is pulling the diaphram slides open - which is pulling the metering rods fully out of the emulsion tube - which is opening the main jets to full open - which is allowing max fuel flow - which uses x2 the fuel of a main jet that is only half open,, he could fairly easily increase the MPG's his bike is capable of significantly.. By the way,, I REALLY love Trooper,, he is an amazing car and a good friend:big-grin-emoticon:!! The end
  20. IMHO there are numerous places that the small leak could be coming from. If it were mine I would probably give it a really good cleaning by spraying it down with brake or carb cleaner if nothing else. Get the area really clean, let it dry and then start it up and watch for seeps. Does the hydraulic fluid for the clutch remain full or have you been noticing fluid loss there? How is the crush washer on your oil drain - do you replace it when changing? It is possible for the clutch slave to lose fluid and it show up like that. If it is the Neutral Switch, which is very possible too, you got good advice on that IMHO, here is a video of the switches location = you could probably clean up really well under the Middle Gear cover and see it and then watch it for leaks as the bike warms up. Even using a mirror and bright flash light to view for seepage before removing the cover. Here is the video, hope it helps in some way Graham!! All the best on the fix!! Puc
  21. and @Du-Rron ,,, hopefully this new member with his 2010 V-Max can join us for the big race!! Here is a post I left for him in the Water Hole in Don's new member please read thread: Hi Cheleva, my name is Cowpuc,, ! Please bring your 2010 1700cc V-Max to Freebirds maintenance day in Ohio in June if at all possible! It is rumored that Mom Yam is going to be present to watch a drag race being held between all three generations of the Yamaha Venture we all love, including the much larger 1900cc air cooled V-Twin that was chosen over the engine in your bike because of its healthier performance. Having your bike sitting at the finish line with its big block V-4 facing that finish may give Mom Yam a clue as to why the majority of the lop eared varmints on our site, regardless of the wishes of those on the Air Cooled V-Twin sites wanted, really was hoping Mom Yam would keep the bloodline pure by continuing with the V-4,, and THE V-4 you have in your bike!! Of course, another option would be to have you, and your 1700cc V-4 join the little race so we could all get a real comparison of the engine performances that Mom Yam put out = THAT would be AWESOME!!!!!! Also,, if you see a wholesome looking varmint with an old sticker covered Venture riding around, please dont be afraid to let him ride your bike!! Sincerely yours Puc Let see if he can make it!!!!!
  22. THAT GOES BOTH WAS @luvmy40!! Hope to see you there my friend!! I LOVE meeting old friends and close brothers I have known for many years for the first time!!

  24. Hey Jeff,, here's a good one for you,,, or maybe even our faithful, hard to be him, Moderator Marcarl can give us the scoop on this one,,,, any idea exactly what club protocol is on using the @ symbol in conjunction with lop eared varmints who chose to put a space between their screen name names when they signed up? For instance,,, lets us my good friend Carbon One for an example.. If I use the @ in front of Carbon One it will not work..
  25. Hope ya know Duey,, there have been several lop eared varmints in the club who have found themselves locked in the CPB (Club Penalty Box) for far less than the result of that little sales pitch !!!
