  3. Sometimes I think Mom Yam should have just mailed those 1st Gens to us with the water pump line pre-dented but ohhh nooo,, instead of doing that she designed em so when a Semi went by a loaded 1st Gen sitting under a Highway overpass to wait out a massive thunderstorm and blows the poor thing over on its right side, the engine guard cuts a nice groove in it as Mr. Gravity proves his muscle...
  4. :scared:MAKE THAT THREE LOP EARED JUNK YARDIN VARMINTS IN THE SAME PLACE AT THE SAME TIME!!! ,, I'm gonna jump in the car and run down a grab a Lottery Ticket!! Suggest you 2 do the same thing and if one of us wins, we split 3 ways
  5. ,, two lop eared junk yardin varmints in the same location at the same time Corporal... Only one of them types faster than the other!! Gotta say though,,, if my left hand was still functional I think I coulda gave you a run for your money!!
  6. I know I am a lop eared junk yardin hack of a varmint but if it was mine and knowing that I had to completely dismantle and start from scratch anyway, I would probably just support the under carriage of the motor so there was no way it could tip over as I was doing what I am about to explain,,, then I would get out my Saws All make the cuts in the destroyed frame so could just lift it off the motor.. Do it right, cut the neck and roll the front end over in the corner, pull the subframe and tank, cut the frame in front of the rear end and pull the drive shaft out of the middle gear and roll it to another corner, lift the back bone up and toss it in the scrap bin and have a gorgeous V-4 sitting on frame rails staring me the face just waiting to be remounted in its new home..
  7. Yeaa,, a REAL Tiger!!! If I did I would clean it up and then paint "We won so I got to keep this baby"!!!
  8. Thoughts and Prayers Up as you and your family work thru the grieving process of losing two family members that are so dearly loved.. May you find the grace of God sufficient during your time of deep sorrow and great need Unc. Please remember, you do not mourn alone brother! Thank you for sharing! Puc
  9. :clap2:!! I redid one of Honda's first attempts at an EFI Wing years ago,, thinking it was like an 85ish Wing.. Wayyy cool scoot with ALL the fixings.. When I got the tupperware off it and looked at the 3 inch wide wire harness running down it's backbone I had a very similar response to yours here,,, I yelped out = things not bike,, its The Space Shuttle!!! Come to find out brother,,, tweekin on these things REALLY is Rocket Science LOVE YOUR THREAD HERE and TOTALLY ROOTIN FOR YOUR BUILD!!
  10. Sounds like all of us are on the same track here:clap2:!! Tip and I are avid Menards "Rebaters", our Sunday mornings after church are spent on our weekly "Rebate Dates" (sooo much fun!!!) and a few weeks ago Menards had 5000 lumeners on sale after rebate for 10 bucks, only allowed 6 though. I also notice that Harbor had some on sale also for 10 bucks but they were the 3500 lumeners.. We stopped on the way home on our Rebate Date and grabbed 4 of those (coupon limit) too. I LOVE LED lighting and have, over time converted our house over (except for the basement - ohhhh that basement.....) to all LED lighting,, VERY affordable even if replacing 65 watt recessed lighting if ya shop the bargins. GOOD STUFF MAYNARD!! Now all we need is some WARM weather to be able to hang the dad gum things in the garage!!! Sorry for the Maddy,,, getting to happen wayy to often by yours truly,,, sorry bout that..
  11. I hear ya brother!!! Story behind the camera with a good case of the blurries,,,,, it's my biken camera - one of those puppies that has been dropped numerous times but has been the King of Survival while out CTFW so I have no problem carrying it off on manuvers with us.. Tip and I had been out in the swamp lands behind the Dunes of Muskegon State Park looking for a buried Army Tank with the sniffers - perferably a Sherman if we could find one.. At the bottom of hill was a fairly good sized mud hole that caught me as I slid down the hill. The Camera was in my right pocket which just happened to be the same side of my body I had slid on so it broke my slide and went face first into the mud hole. It's dried out now, still works fine but was obviously not totally dried out when I took that vid... Oh well,, I figured even a mud blurry video was better than no video
  12. ,, :sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On: Now THAT is what I am TALKIN ABOUT Snype!!! :dancefool: Quick,, she's runnin,,toss a leg and head west!! About the keys,, seems like there was someone who had the blanks and was making key's for the 1st Gens around here Snype,, its been a longggg time since I noticed his/her ad but,,, maybe do some digging in the Vendor area or parts are or something cause I am almost sure I saw it,,, of course,, maybe that was during a time when they had me on Morphine and I was halucynatin but I dont think so,, but maybe:Bunny2:
  13. Ok, just thought of another one.. Remember here that I aint never worked on an RSV but,, some scoots use a vacuum petcock on em. I KNOW for fact that even some Yamaha's use em because I have rebuilt several of em thru the years = if my memory is correct, I did several 650 Yam builds (Chopper stuff) and I am almost certain they had em.. Anyway, if the diaphram in a vacuum petcock goes south it is VERY possible for the vacuum to actually suck raw fuel into the source of the vacuum! This could also apply to ANY vacuum operated device in the fuel system = something to check,,, maybe? Maybe not? Oh yea,, also dont forget to double check your oil for gas contamination, in my world - just because it didnt hydrolock doesn't mean old brother Murph didn't get involved and sneak some raw fuel past the rings = sneaky varmint that Murph!! Hope ya get er going brother cause SPRING IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:biker::biker::biker: All the best in the repair! Puc
  14. Sup Koz... First thought was possibly a saturated float = easily checked by floatin em in cup O' gas and see how they float, but being two jugs,, hmmm.. What did the bowls in the carbs look like when ya tore em down? Any rust particles? Maybe mirror your tank and look for rust? Note that if you find any, IMHO, you can't stop the stuff from passing into the carbs by filtering,, ya gotta clean the tank and, if its bad = seal it with Red Kote. Another possibility could be plugged vent lines on the carbs.. Most carbs have very small hoses hanging from them (unless they got lost during a clean up) that serve as vents for the bowl/inner carb body. If those get plugged, it is possible (again - IMHO) for pressure to build and flooding to occur. Those RSV's got an "off" position on a fuel petcock (never owned one)? Maybe try shutting the fuel off, starting the bike, run it till she cleans out real well and comes back up on 4, run it till she just starts to run out of fuel, tap on those bowls again like you did and see if it corrects. Do it with the bike sitting upright. Maybe the bowls got low and those two carbs had the floats hang up in em.. All I got right now.. Keeps us posted!
  15. ,,,,, brother I dont know what beddy bye Fairy Tale books you been reading to your kids Wendy but I guarantee you that I am not in em .. You aint livin in one of those zones where Pot got legalized and campin downwind of some Acapolco Gold franchise are ya
  16. I thought that same thing Jeff but figured what the hayy,, for a replacement Res - if it did have a site glass it probably indicates it is an actual Brake Res,, maybe for 2001 JuJitsu Mini Bike but still worthy of the job
  17. You are all welcome my bothers, I KNEW that others beside myself would really enjoy and share some tears with me over this one. So precious is the freedom we in the States and other regions in the world have benefited from because of the willingness of the millions men and women who were, and still are, willing to stand for our way of life = the real hero's of America and the free world! Unlike some of you varmints who actually have family members who laid it all on the line for our way of life and/or have done so yourselves (THANK YOU!), I never had that. I did have the privilage of dating a girl in my younger days who father was a Navy man who's Medal's of Valor and Commendations I got to behold (he didnt talk about it all but his daughter and I snuck into his "Memorial Chest" one time and WOWZY WOW WOW WOW = what an amazing history lesson that was!!). Bob (her dad) served in the Pacific Theater - "givin it to them Japs" as I overheard him saying to the WW2 Veterans that we shot with at the VFW shooting range many years ago. He and I were very good friends, we hunted and fished together a lot back then and whenever he made the journey to the competition shoots on the range where a large group of men, just like the those in this video, would gather - drink a few beers (OK,, LOTS OF BEERS) and then start talking together about what happened over there = I would set at the table with them and just listen (and ). It was an HONOR to just be in the presence of such giants:usa: To this day, I know - this is probably wrong because modern day correctness demands that the truth of this stuff not be talked about, I still believe/feel that part of our societal issues revolve around the fact that people, both young and old, do not hear enough about the true price of the freedoms we still enjoy.. Anyway, I was so touched by this video that I just had to share, penalty box or no penalty box You welcome! Puc
  18. I actually like what I see,, maybe not all of the finished product BUT, mostly because of what Bongo stated above = someone obviously took some steps for improvement AND he told you about it!! Looking at the picture of what the guy came up with (and I may be seeing things) - I think I see a window at the bottom of the replacement res that indicates to me that whoever replaced the OEM = used an actual Brake Res for replacement.. I actually admire the guy for doing something and telling you he did it. One of my 1st Gens came to me with 24k miles on it, original owner, blown second gear (why I got it so cheap) but the scoot was really purdy. The guy I got it from said he bought it new, rode it very little but the shop he bought it from did all the maintenance/oil changes and stuff on it. Crazy as it sounds, got it home, was going thru things (bike had sat for a long time) including brake fluid swap,, went to pull the plug on the OEM res and the plug with a large chunck of the res spilt off with hardly no pressure at all.. Looking closely at the part in my hand I clearly could see that someone had snapped the thing off in the past and made a nice, but VERY temporary, repair of the area with some form of adhesive instead of replacing the broken res.. Of course,, from what the guy who I bought the bike from had told me,, I could only assume that probably, somewhere, in some back room of a Yamaha Shop, works a mechanic who.... Personally,, I would have rather of seen what you have there Cool!! If the hoses are in fact deterorating,, no,, regardless of that,,,, if it were mine I would pull the hose from the connection where it attaches to the master cylinder and,, wait a second,, just go to this link and follow the suggestion for cleaning things up = you may be very glad you did: https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?12536-Stranded-with-brakes-sticking-and-heating-up-Read-this
  19. I think I got blessed with what ever you didnt grab when the Lord was passing out the love for Mil Surp brother.. I have always loved the stuff. Back in the 80's I was managed at a College in Cadillac Michigan and not to far from the school was a full blown, Guv run Mil Surp outlet.. They had TONS of stuff, even some left over from all the way back to WW1 (not a lot = cool Dough Boy helmets though). Lots of WW2 vintage truck/trailers and even metal cutting equipment off ships and stuff. Gas masks, rubber rain suits,, crazy stuff.. I LOVED to walk the place. Ya had to have a Non-Prof Business "card" (issued by them) to even get into the place but it was fun.. I also worked with a guy here in Michigan who wanted to own the big stuff.. He worked around red tape by starting a Military Museum = WOWZY WOW WOW WOW did that open the doors to FUN!!! Thinking about this,, here's a funny one Jack, not to long ago I had to go on a strict excersize program.. While down for the count, spending hours on the couch watching stuff on YouTube I picked up on folks into Treasure Hunting with Metal Detectors = bought Tip and I each one and set out on our treasure hunting excersize program.. Start at 4:20 on the time line in the video below to find out just how deeply my love for Mil Surp goes:dancefool::

  23. Hey Sly,, one of the short comings of missing part of my bladder cause of Cancer surgery is an increased need to peeee,, peeeing is NOT a problem on my end so,, if for some reason Fitz cant make it to MD,, you can always just leave your boots parked outside our tent and, when you retrieve them in the morning they will be fully Preserved!!!
  24. 100% AWESOME FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FREE AMMO? Yea,,, even the rubber on my tenner shoes woulda been shhhmoken on that one!!!! Makes me just shake my head in wonderment when ever I hear the chatter claiming "this is an assault rifle,, sporting rifles are good,, assault rifles are bad" routine.. Funny how little the unknowing know about the things that they claim to know so much about aint it?,,, did say that right:scratchchin: LOVE THE SHOOTER = brings back TONS of memories (minus the paint job = I like em nicked up and battle scarred - even with a little cosmoline still hangin from the bayonette lug - flaw in my charactor I reckon:confused24:
