  1. :sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that: and very well put brother!!! You ARE a Vietnam War Veteran in my book/heart Randy! Makes no difference if you served in a fox hole, fire base, nurse on a ship in the gulf of Tonkin or part of a General's staff sitting in an office in Saigon sorting thru paper work keeping things flowing - ALL were vulnerable and in harms way, ALL left their families and the safety of being home and ALL were there and ALL were part of standing for freedom!! I too was to young to have served in Vietnam but, always have and always will be thankful and proud of you for having stood for our way of life. Count me as someone whose arms are linked with those that thank you, and ALL Vietnam War Veterans = THANKS MY BROTHER FOR YOUR SERVICE! :sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that:
  2. IMHO, thats not that uncommon, the design of the petcock internals are what make it tight. There is a nickle sized rubber flat washer with raised ridges on it and 1/8th inch holes in it to divert the fuel into different paths for off - on - reserve fuel flow. When it sets in any given location for a time, the raised ridges dry out (alcohol in fuels dont help this at all) and bingo, hard to turn. Personally, with it being new, I think I would work with some to break in the new petcock by rotating it back and forth a bunch to see if I could get it to loosen up some so if I ran low on fuel in traffic I could reach down and flip it to reserve. This is sort of gonna sound little crazy but I actually like to refrain from using reserve on my scoots and just use the off to on locations. I do this cause I like to reserve reserve fuel in the tank for a garbage gathering area. That is kind of a double edged sword though cause if ya get in a bind and need to use the garbaged fuel gathered in the bottom of the tank you really risk messing up the carbs with garbage.. I have found that not using the reserve fuel section of the tanks really helps if you are proned to doing a little off roading or riding dusty locations where the tank breather is sucking in dirty air as well as the normal ickies that come in fuel.. 3. Indeed,, those were some genuine troubling times that is for sure. IMHO, those that put it all on the line deserve our utmost respect and honor and those that dodged the draft are still probably paying a high cost of having to live with their decisions too cause they gotta live with the fact that others went in their stead and they are, to this day, still enjoying some of the a lot of the freedoms that those that payed with blood, sweat and tears fought to protect. God forbid it ever happens but it cant help but make one wonder what kind of chaos we would see if the draft ever had to be reopened
  4. You betcha Kretz, you are more than welcome!! Guess we best be thankin @Sylvester for this one too,, after all, he is the lop eared VR varmint who sent it to me in the 1st place. 9. Thankfully we weren't tossing the top end of a scoot back together here and timing the cam position brother,,,, I miss judged the timing line between head studs while setting the valve timing on my 350 Honda Motosport once, got the cam advanced/one tooth on the cam chain (probably less than 5 degrees) and ended up with bent valves... Hey Sly,,, quick,, check your valves,,, hopefully your not leaking anything :rotfl:
  10. Sorry to read this brother,,, definitely not something to fool with and DEFINITELY something to keep a really close eye on = PRAYERS UP on your behalf! Something just occurred to me, I cant help but wonder if our V-4's got some kind of an eddy current leaking for their coils or something.. There seems to be an uptake of this stuff goin around the club,, something just seems odd with the numbers of us that are turning to tuners and the like... At any rate, keep a close eye on that sinus rythm and follow your doctors orders. Maybe even check in with a really good Cardiologist and/or even a Electrotherapist cardio guy if you havent already.. Those guys dont work for cheap BUT they do earn their keep when talking this kind of stuff!! Fee for advice = 1 homemade tamale to go please
  11. Not absolutely sure about all of this so you will have to wait for a guru to show up but,, I gotta hunch that: 1. Different carbs. 2. Different TCI. 3. Different swing arm. 4.Different drive shaft. 6. Different jugs (block) and/or different heads. 7. Different seat. 8. Different drivers back rest. 9. Different anti-dives. 10. Different forks. 11. Different calipers and rotors. 12. Different subframe. 13. Different windshield 14. Different clutch assembly. 15, ,, I know I am missing something,, oh well,, I'm only a part timer,, not bad for part timer if even 1/2 of those I listed are correct

  19. Mornin Sly :big-grin-emoticon: That shooter is a beautiful thing to look at first thing in the mornin aint it? JUST GORGEOUS!!! Hope Larry is able to find ya one brother:missingtooth:!! That price is in full auto country - you know, one of those shooters that require shipment to a class 3 guy.. Makes me wonder if that piece may be full auto capable :scared:or is the price just indicative of it's rarity ya think? Either way,, SHE IS A DANDY!!! Wish I was loaded like my Uncle Sly is ,, I'd have me a full auto Tommy Gun with a drum feed for it so my California Son-In-Laws coming for the wedding in June would get to experience a real "Full Auto Bachlor's Party" .. I can handle the transfer fee and the long wait for the ATF to approve my having one,,, it's the $15000 purchase price that gets in the way:crying:.. Your welcome on the pic posting Sly, and THANK YOU for sharing with us!! Puc
  20. Hi Maddy,, on the outside of the frame at the swing arm pivot you will probably find a big black plastic cap on each side, you pull the cap and will be exposed to the bolt(s) that hold the swing arm in. Those bolts have a shoulder on them that match the bearings the swing arm rides on. If memory serves, the bolt on the right side is the one with a follower nut on it that sets the depth that you screw the bolt in for proper depth,, just make sure that when you back the right side bolt out that you note the position of that nut so you get the bolt back in to proper depth.. Hold on,, I might have a youtube vid on it,, I will see if I can find it.. Yep,, here ya go:
  21. Should work perfect!!! GOOD FIND BROTHER!!!! Matter of fact, good enough that I would suggest ya start a new thread with em so folks thinking of swapping out caps wont miss em. Not bad for 20 dollars (including shipping) long reach caps that are the correct ohm caps!! Just ordered a set my own self = THANKS 40!!
  22. Oh yea,, I remember the Vega's real well!! Had a good buddy who bought a brand new one.. I use to tell him I could actually see the engine change in demensions while it warmed up and cooled off :rotf: What a pile of,,, well, you brought it to the round table of discussion here so you obviously know exactly what kind of pile it was:guitarist 2: We do agree on something else Patch,, those Vega's did run REALLY well with a small block Ford planted in them though
  23. Here is the youtube video I was referring to = IMHO = not a good plan, especially on a $30000 scoot that is still under warranty.. I TOTALLY get the "lets fix it ourselves" philosophy (been a way of life for varmints like you and I Patch) but not necessarily so when dealing with a new bike under full warranty for most people,, especially if you tend to be money concious,,, if your loaded like a Jay Leno = who cares ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3-xwPNaZhw&feature=youtu.be
  24. now THAT is a rarety,, two lop eared back yard gear head varmints in agreement Something else, dont know how much you been following all this unfold since the release of this new one but a good while back there was another varmint on here (hasnt been on in a while) who was promoting using oils with special additives to compensate for wear between the lobe and valve face surfaces. There is another person on youtube suggesting the same (I will see if I can find his vid and post it here) and I can see the rationale behind the idea. The only thing is, IMHO, using such additives to compensate for one issue like this may be the answer for this specific issue but there is sooooo much more happening inside of an engine like this (everything from ring land lube to valve guide lube and even clutch plate surfaces if the engine shares oil with the tranny) that introducing modifiers into environments that are not user friendly to those modifiers could be disatorous. That scenario is why I still think sticking with OEM specs and following the manual is probably the better alternative.
