I think Patch is down at the library in his hometown searching for carb rebuilding info, got lost and is talking to his GPS trying to find his way out of the joint (we geezers get lost pretty easy).. Hey Patch,,, "North" is always up on those GPS contraptions,, just point the GPS upwards and then walk to the left and you will be headed west,,, we should all be CTFW West, West is GOOD!!!

:scared:and yet another WOWZY WOW WOW WOW:178::178::178::178::178: piece of shootin iron brother:thumbsup:,, while I agree with ya Jack,, not quite as as Fool's shooter (mainly cause I too LOVE custom work and that Fool definitely put the time into that sweetheart bringing it to FlyinFool spec) but still,, WOWZY WOW WOW WOW what a NICE shooter ya got there in it's own right:thumbsup:!! Lots of the WW2 guys that I shot dynamite with many years ago used those Mauser Action shooters. A lot of Sporterized pieces back then,, sort of an art form back in the day I would say. That Swede 6.5 was also known for some real accuracy too, 1/4 stick of dynamite hangin on the clothes line @200 yards = NO PROBLEMO.. Side note: I dont know much about the "Creedmore" or the 6.5x284, never had the honor of owning or touching either off but I wonder if the 6.5x55 Swede that you two lop eared lead tossin varmints own had a connection as a predecessor to the 6.5x284 or the Creedmore.. I noticed those at a big gunshop in Sparks Nevada once (see vid) and have since done some reading on em,, sounds like some amazing shooters too from all I have read.. KEEP IT UP GENTLEMEN,, you guys got the blood running strong this morning!!

:sign yeah that::sign yeah that: For the 2nd time in allllll of motorcycling history,, I gotta agree with Patch on this one I know for a fact that my 1st Gen hazards will work with key off and key in my pocket (ran out of gas a couple times and had to WALK = Tippy did this ). Of course,, an RSV could be wired differently but that really would make no sense to me either if it was..

Like desperado's waiting for a train,, those parts bikes are just sitting there wondering which one is going to get to go back out CTFW again Maddy!!! -

Tonights weather = flood warnings are in effect :178::178::178::178::178::178::178::178::178::178::178::178::178::178::178: WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,, now THAT is what I am talkin bout = GORGEOUS SHOOTER FOOL = NICE JOB:thumbsup::thumbsup: Also, a HUGE thank you for the full report brother = THANKS JEFF!! Now I got a request,,, I would LOVE to see a close up of the finished barrel crown!! IMHO, "Crowning" makes or breaks a good shooter, almost as important as good bedding, and I would love to see what worked for you. Is it still 6.5x55? What does it like in bullet weight/configuration? What's the farthest you've shot it? NICE,, REAL NICE!!

Awe,,,, I showed Tip what you said Son-Shine and she said = "I always really liked that young man,, what a nice guy":missingtooth:... Personally, I like being married to that youngen,, she keeps my heart in order and me home at night... Good grief Son,,, I have no idea what life would be like without her and no plans to find out!! Short story Doug? When we moved into our new home here a number of years ago the guy across the street comes walking over, made intro's and then looked at Tip sitting on a porch chair and asked how many other daughters I had :big-grin-emoticon: She's a keeper that one!!

I built up a Sporty one time with a Patriot Defender stainless exhaust that had a cable controlled "snuffer" (speaking about snuffers,, anyone remember the cool snuffs on the 305 Honda Scrambler = COOL) and WOWZY WOW WOW WOW was that AWESOME for sound control (and performance). While I am at a point in life where I really appreciate stock OEM and the quietness that comes with them, I REALLY like the looks of what I am seeing/reading here DC.. I have bought thru National Cycle and had good luck with them. The ability to adjust volume at the grips would be pretty cool,, not sure about 600 bucks of cool though as I am sure a left over set of OEM's and/or DEFINITELY a set of Harley takeoffs could be had much cheaper.. Your call but either way, looking forward to some ,s and a ride report/review of the finished product when ya get er done!!

I couldn't click on this one fast enough Fool cause I was thinking EXACTLY what you were when I read "Pacemaker Exhaust" in the title ..

Right there with you Newkirk! Even though, as you and Don pointed out, with the 1st Gens there were a lot of newbie issues and, IMHO Yamaha did not step up to the plate with full recalls on and should have, I do think that times have changed and they cannot afford to not follow up with any needed updates/recalls on this one - especially since they are going toe to toe with HD. Mom Yam has wayy to much in the game to just let it slide. I still can't help but wonder if the 2019 time off and jumping directly to the 2020 models as they are doing won't end up seeing any updates they deem as necessary taking place on this one. Yamaha is a great company and has been the mainstay of many motorcyclist, both on and off road, for many years - I am sure they will do what ever is necessary to maintain their image!

WOWZY WOW WOW WOW SILV ,, you sure you wanna do that? If I got stuck with April 15th for a renew day I could never not renew cause the 15th is kind of a bad omen day here in the States (Taxes due and all that).. Personally I would just have to kick out the 12 bucks dues earlier and then ignore that 15th due date thing completely cause I gotta thing for bad omen's YOU are gonna be missed my brother but I get it.. Life definitely can throw some curves, interests changes and all that. Thank you for your contributions in the club thru the years my friend and, more than than that, for your friendship!! If you folks ever get out to Michigan be sure and keep an eye out here in the Water Hole for a ""Puc's Meet - Greet n Eat Meat"" as you KNOW you folks will ALWAYS be welcome here!! May the trail before you be filled with nothing but great adVentures overflowing with tons of 's Silv!! Puc

:sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::clap2::clap2: Especially the ""Cowpuc is wiser than he looks"" part:Bunny2:! I guess I underestimated what a bold attempt at staying young at heart could do for a person and never knew that doing so could actually effect ones outward appearance to the point that even though he is bald and grey bearded - he could still look like a kid = THANKS VICK (ya gotta LOVE how I spun that one my friend ).. Indeed,, we could easily sit by the camp fire till the cows came home swapping tales of CTFW and life like a couple old cowboys from days gone by :biker:. Vick,, I really enjoyed the depth of your essay. A lot of it applies to something that happened to Tip and I recently and a discussion that ensued as a result of that happening: We had the privilege of getting to go see and hear the President of the United States speak in Grand Rapids Mi. We had a GREAT time and were amazed at the amount of people, young and old, who packed the arena where our countries President spoke:usa: - it was truly a beautiful thing. Of course, as normal for any adventure such as this, there were plenty of anti American protesters, both younger and older geezers with grey hair to match that of my own, who were waving flags of support for everything from "We Demand Socialism NOW" to just plain white signs with "America Never Has Been Great" painted on them but we didn't have any issue's with that crowd,, until we got back to Trooper (our brand new car) who was parked in a secured parking ramp that is. When we got back to Trooper I noticed right away that the anti American way of life crowd had found a way to make yet another way to declare their demands to the world at large. There on Troopers backside was a freshly carved symbol of what Socialism can and does, in its final outcome, produce = total disrespect for ones self and all things outside of that. Trooper had been "keyed" and also fist punched as there was a nice knuckle dent on his pretty blue body. On the way home Tip and I got talking about the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and I reminded her about one of the last lines of the movie where Captn Miller whispers with his dying breath into PVT Ryans ear = "EARN THIS - EARN IT". I was telling her of how life had taught me the importance and depth of that little line. That being that, IMHO, if a person doesn't earn his lifes rewards thru hard work, getting up when one has fallen, sheer wholesome ingenuity and taking responsibilty for ones own actions that what ever they end up with for "free" (Socialism) aint worth a plugged nickle and, as a matter of fact, getting life handed to ya for free actually destroys a persons self worth and dignity. Self respect, respect for others and respect for property - either your own or others - is actually a byproduct of having earned ones way thru life .

:sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that: and very well put brother!!! You ARE a Vietnam War Veteran in my book/heart Randy! Makes no difference if you served in a fox hole, fire base, nurse on a ship in the gulf of Tonkin or part of a General's staff sitting in an office in Saigon sorting thru paper work keeping things flowing - ALL were vulnerable and in harms way, ALL left their families and the safety of being home and ALL were there and ALL were part of standing for freedom!! I too was to young to have served in Vietnam but, always have and always will be thankful and proud of you for having stood for our way of life. Count me as someone whose arms are linked with those that thank you, and ALL Vietnam War Veterans = THANKS MY BROTHER FOR YOUR SERVICE! :sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that:

Fuel petcock very tight to turn
cowpuc replied to Treetall's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
IMHO, thats not that uncommon, the design of the petcock internals are what make it tight. There is a nickle sized rubber flat washer with raised ridges on it and 1/8th inch holes in it to divert the fuel into different paths for off - on - reserve fuel flow. When it sets in any given location for a time, the raised ridges dry out (alcohol in fuels dont help this at all) and bingo, hard to turn. Personally, with it being new, I think I would work with some to break in the new petcock by rotating it back and forth a bunch to see if I could get it to loosen up some so if I ran low on fuel in traffic I could reach down and flip it to reserve. This is sort of gonna sound little crazy but I actually like to refrain from using reserve on my scoots and just use the off to on locations. I do this cause I like to reserve reserve fuel in the tank for a garbage gathering area. That is kind of a double edged sword though cause if ya get in a bind and need to use the garbaged fuel gathered in the bottom of the tank you really risk messing up the carbs with garbage.. I have found that not using the reserve fuel section of the tanks really helps if you are proned to doing a little off roading or riding dusty locations where the tank breather is sucking in dirty air as well as the normal ickies that come in fuel.. Puc -
Indeed,, those were some genuine troubling times that is for sure. IMHO, those that put it all on the line deserve our utmost respect and honor and those that dodged the draft are still probably paying a high cost of having to live with their decisions too cause they gotta live with the fact that others went in their stead and they are, to this day, still enjoying some of the a lot of the freedoms that those that payed with blood, sweat and tears fought to protect. God forbid it ever happens but it cant help but make one wonder what kind of chaos we would see if the draft ever had to be reopened

Thanks Mom! I always wondered why you said that to me, now I know..
cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
You betcha Kretz, you are more than welcome!! Guess we best be thankin @Sylvester for this one too,, after all, he is the lop eared VR varmint who sent it to me in the 1st place. I LOVE the stuff like this that my brothers like Sly send me to brighten my daily path,,, just makes me endlessly! He also mentioned Jerry Clower, you ever heard any of Jerry's stuff? Wayyyy old school guy that Jerry but wayyyy my kinda folk!! -
and that lasted all the way from Larry's in Detroit (where we picked up the bike) till it got into our driveway where the "making it mine" process began

Probably packs those saddle bags he has draped over his tank with Ice :biker:

QUICK,, ALL YOU LOP EARED ATOM SPLITTIN WITH LEAD PROJECTILE VARMINTS TAKE A PAUSE FOR THE CAUSE!! While your heading that wayy to take the pause, grab an Auto Trader off the rack, flip to the back and find the Harbor Freight ads. They got their air tight lockable ammo cans (plastic BUT - the lids do have a rubber seal in them!!) on sale/with coupon in Auto RV for 4 bucks a pop (3.99)!! Now a word from our sponsors: Be nice to your ammo, you dont want it coming back at cha and biten ya after ya send it down range

Thankfully we weren't tossing the top end of a scoot back together here and timing the cam position brother,,,, I miss judged the timing line between head studs while setting the valve timing on my 350 Honda Motosport once, got the cam advanced/one tooth on the cam chain (probably less than 5 degrees) and ended up with bent valves... Hey Sly,,, quick,, check your valves,,, hopefully your not leaking anything :rotfl:

Sorry to read this brother,,, definitely not something to fool with and DEFINITELY something to keep a really close eye on = PRAYERS UP on your behalf! Something just occurred to me, I cant help but wonder if our V-4's got some kind of an eddy current leaking for their coils or something.. There seems to be an uptake of this stuff goin around the club,, something just seems odd with the numbers of us that are turning to tuners and the like... At any rate, keep a close eye on that sinus rythm and follow your doctors orders. Maybe even check in with a really good Cardiologist and/or even a Electrotherapist cardio guy if you havent already.. Those guys dont work for cheap BUT they do earn their keep when talking this kind of stuff!! Fee for advice = 1 homemade tamale to go please

'86/'83 plastic compatibility?
cowpuc replied to luvmy40's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Not absolutely sure about all of this so you will have to wait for a guru to show up but,, I gotta hunch that: 1. Different carbs. 2. Different TCI. 3. Different swing arm. 4.Different drive shaft. 6. Different jugs (block) and/or different heads. 7. Different seat. 8. Different drivers back rest. 9. Different anti-dives. 10. Different forks. 11. Different calipers and rotors. 12. Different subframe. 13. Different windshield 14. Different clutch assembly. 15, ,, I know I am missing something,, oh well,, I'm only a part timer,, not bad for part timer if even 1/2 of those I listed are correct
