  1. Soon brother,, very very soon!! I met with one of our Upper Management "Puc's Meet Greet n Eat Meat" Staff members today and things are REALLY looking good for the 2019 Puc's MGnEM season.. We had some left over Dogs in the Freezers BUT decided to toss em and grab all, BRAND NEW,, 1/3 pound dogs so those puppies (pun intended) should REALLY grill up to perfection!!!! Keep your lop eared Hot Dog lovin eyes glued to the Water Hole my friend cause as soon as we get a break in the weather,,,, The Hot Dogs are gonna be just FLYING off the grills!!!
  2. FOUND IT!! Spent some time out playing with our brand new 4x4 trail busting lil dozer and found the PERFECT spot for tossing 308 or 556 lead out to +1000 yard (according to my Range Finder) and busting all the clays we want!! I am gonna try a google map link for everyone here,, lets see how this goes.. You should see two HUGE open land fields - one on one side of a two track and the other on the other side.. If this works,, all my lop eared VR brothers and sister varmint friends will now know where to find Tip and I should we not be home when you stop by for a hot dog:missingtooth:... P.S. = could one of you varmints let me know if this works? THANKS https://www.google.com/maps/@43.451837,-86.1428897,920m/data=!3m1!1e3
  3. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW = WAYYYY COOL PEL!!!! PLEASE tell your son that ol Pucster said THANK YOU to him too for his service!! HE and what he is doing is greatly appreciated brother!!:usa: Love where your going with :happy34:your Springfield = BEAUTIFUL!!!! Can not WAIT to see pics of the finished product my friend = I am an EXTREME admirer of that honored piece!! CONGRATS!! Speaking of the .17 HMR,, that is the caliber that kind of led that path to my going AR.. Wanting an affordable long range target shooter WITH affordable and not wanting to return to the hassles of reloading to make ammo affordable,, I eagerly followed the Ruger attempt at producing the 17 in semi auto.. It didnt work.. Then, not to long ago, Savage came out with the A17 that I had watched for a longggg time but was just not able to locate one for what I could put a center fire 556/223 Wylde chambered AR for and,, a little research and resolve turned up 223 ammo for almost exactly the price of .17 HMR... While I still have HUGE DREAMS of someday night hunting Coyotes and all that (never did it but have ALWAYS wanted to = thinking squeekin in a Coyote and locating/takin em out thru the Night Vision would be nothing short of REAL FUN), fact is,, physically I am thinking that dream is probably going to stay nothing more than a dream and if I had a Night Vision Scope it would end up hanging next to my Recurve and Compound Bow, Tree Stands, boxes of Arrows I fletched up years ago and all that stuff... I ABSOLUTELY DO appreciate you filling in the gaps of want though brother!! PLEASE keep the faith, keep up the good work and PLEASE keep the stories w/ pics rolling in here in Hotel California country!!! LOVING IT!! Puc
  4. Will definitely take a peek at those front springs Roller.. Even though this beast of an ex-Utility future is obviously gonna be spent putsying around in the sticks,, crawling up and down forest hills with an occasional stop for Bonnie and Clyde to haul out the artillery and toss some lead or to slide the 10 foot flat bottom skiff and trolling motor out of the back end of er and pursue some lunker Bass hiding in those previously inaccessable State Land ponds (no hard core trail running = those days went out with the ability to Tour on a scoot and drop tent all over the States and Canada), I will still take a peek at them to make sure this thing has a fighting chance of staying together.. Be it known though, I have always been one to live a little on the edge. One of the great advantages of riding a beat up ol, missing 2nd gear 1st Gen (and now this 82 Ford) was found in the answer to my 9 year old daughters question as we set up camp on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon after following deer trails to find it, the question being asked with WIDE EYES on her part = "Daddy, what happens if Beeg (what the kids named our 1st 1st Gen) breaks down out here and you cant fix her?".. To which I replied, "then we pack up what we can carry and Beeg finds a new home as The Goddess Of The Canyon until some Park Ranger finds her and donates her bones to a scrap yard - we take a bus home, find another Beeg and start all over again and THAT my dear little one is one of the greatest advantages to riding a bike that cost little, served its purpose and owes nothing".. This Truck is living on that same edge of destiny,, breaks down out in the middle of no where in a way that I cant reasonably repair it on the spot = first come first served to the scrappers with 4x4's and we start from scratch.. Back when our home's acreage bordered thousands of acres of State Land I was actually one of those lop eared scrappin varmints who hauled "left overs" in off public propery.. I ended up with several scrap cars and trucks, numerous snowmobiles and even a couple Boats.. Easy money and the Authorities were ALWAYS happy to oblige with the paper work making the scrap mine to claim. A relative of mine got involved with the "Animal Control" side of things sort of in the same way. He would get occasional calls from the DNR about domestic animals gone wild and living on Public Lands. He would go out and either capture or shoot the animals (his choice) and ended up with several pretty cool farm animals that he got to keep.. He "harvested" one REALLY BIG TEXAS LONGHORN that was WAYYYYYY COOL!!!
  5. It's not
  6. Sad indeed when ever this stuff happens.. Prayers Up for the family and friends of the rider who lost his life due to such inconsiderate nonsense... What a shame..
  7. Hearing that Roller... I sold my 351 Cleveland, 4 speed, side piped fast back Mach 1 for $1500 in the late 70's. I remember towing in LOTS of those old cars to the scrap yard when I was a broke kid and needed spending money,,, $25 each.. A guy could actually hit up those yards full of scrapped cars back then and parts were plentiful including body pieces.. Almost brings tears to my eyes thinking of some of the cool stuff that got crushed.. Days longgg gone by for sure..
  8. Finding new pathways to CTFW on is not an easy endeavor.. I have always been one to struggle with change and giving up touring on a scoot has not been an easy task.. I am one though to not let lifes struggles keep my down,, for to long, so when living in a body cast for year while my back surgery healed, then Hand Surgery hit, then Brain fluid leakage hit,, then Heart Surgery, then Cancer Surgery hit with the resulting struggle of needing to sleep at any given moment (still think it all has something to do with physically getting old and worn out) required Tip and I to look for other ways to entertain ourselves - we started looking for new horizons.. First things first, for our touring needs we ended up with a really cool new car (first brand new car either of us ever owned) that we can sleep in AND it gets better gas mileage than any of our Touring bikes ever got (60 MPG).. Further dreaming (NEVER QUIT DREAMING AND FOLLOWING THOSE DREAMS = IT'S THE SECRET TO A HAPPY/FULFILLING LIFE IMHO) brought us into a past love of mine = SHOOTING (see my other thread about that if your interested = turns out, there are MANY of us lop eared varmints with a love for that endeavor). Now that our home has a Gun Room that doubles as an Ammo dump,, it dawned on me that we are going to need a mode of transportation to haul us and our newly aquired artillary equipment out onto our thousands and thousands of land that we own (State and Federal Lands in Michigan are still owned by us tax payers) to enjoy our new hobby (we dont have a shooting range right out our back door like some varmints = yes @Sylvester - I am speaking of you!! Having spent thousands of hours transversing those lands on a dirtbike in years past filled my mind with endless open fields and forests with area's PRIME for everything from tossing Clays to being able to safely shoot thousands of yards with a 556 or 308 (and even go Bass Fishing on small inland lakes that only a 4x4 can approach) but NOT in a brand new car.. So the search began for the perfect rig,, at a cheap price (I like the $1000 dollar scheme,,, never paid more than that for one of my 1st Gens so figured that was a good place to start for a 4x4). Also, just like my old 1st Gen's, the rig needed to be OLD so I could continue to run Historic Plates like on my bikes = 20 year plate for 35 dollars = my kind of deal.. Well,, here's what finally followed me home.. 1982 Ford 250 ex Utility Truck w/ a hydro turn plow.. Carburated Ford inline 6. 4 speed manual w/creeper gear. Got brand new tires on her. Had to put a set of tail lights on her = got brake lights and tail lights now but still no blinkers (found the wire harness under her for the lights and WOWZY WOW WOW WOW, it was still functional except for blinkys.. Think I will stick a set of blinkers on her mirrors and wire em in.. Was missing her breather (PO only ran it turning the winter to plow his driveway and lost her original breather). Took a trip to the local junk yard, counter guy laughed at me and said DUDE = ITS 2019,, carbs been gone for EVER = good luck finding a breather for that thang.. A little humping around the yard and I was able to piece one together = including an almost brand new filter!! Walked back to the counter = $3 for all of it,, including a pile of breather stem bolts and gaskets!! Also got a new fuel tank under her! Tip and I took er out for her maiden voyage yesterday before Fool turned down the heat and covered us in snow again.. We took her down to the lake to play in the beach sand = 4x4 works AWESOME!! Gotta LOVE the old style of manual transfer case and locking hubs!! Then we hit the north bound trails,, crawled down to a favored Bass Lake where the trail heading down to the lake was majorly root covered and eroded,, locked the hubs, stuck her in 4 DUBBYA D low range and IDLED back up over the roots and erosion with us both laughing as I held my feet over on Tips side to show her I wasnt even touching the throttle... Got stuck in 2wd in a sandy corner, got out, relocked the hubs, dropped her into gear and had to push a dead tree over to get out,, laughed as we thought we had dented our new trucks bumper = turns out the plow mount works like a cow catcher on a train and no visable damage,,, matter of fact,, I think the rig was telling us that it actually likes pretending its a Dozer.. The "boxes" look like they will easily hold our Artillery cases in safe mode behind locked doors and the other bins will hold a variety of Harbor Freight ammo boxes filled with ammo.. Thinking now of mounting a quick release electric Clay thrower system to her roof so I can slide a thrower on top and stand in the box and shoot pigeons. Also got dreams (never stop dreaming) of making a flip top on one or both of the upper bin lids to double as a bench rest for setting the bipods on the AR's on,,, always something aint it!!!
  9. You are welcome my brother!! Wait till you see the new thread I am getting ready to start about the next step in this Phase Change for Tip and I... I gotta hunch you are gonna be reinspired,, or, at a minimum get a kick out it.. Just cause our body's wanna go on a permenant geezer land vacation doesnt mean we have to cave in to it .. Keep an eye out in the Water Hole for my next battle for keepin on keepin on brother Way I figure it is this bumpy little downhill on the path we are all traveling on is not cycleable for many of us hurtin, worn out varmints but still we manage to locate the treasures of the trail before us and enjoy sharing those treasure with each other... Kind of strange when ya think about this being a MC Club and the many of us who talk about everything else now besides scoots... Guess thats what makes stickin around for the after show like this adding deeper meaning to the whole "Hotel California" thingy... Oh my gosh Sly,, I just thought of something else thats also kind of weird about the path we are traveling on involving building AR's, hoggin down the handguns (lookin at a Beretta 5 inch now) and tossing lead,, doesn't the title "Hotel CALIFORNIA" not seem right for us 2nd Amendment/gun loving geezers.. Thought I felt a cold breathe go down my spine when I thought of that one brother .. Sometimes I think I was born with an overactive beener or something...
  10. Was it "luck of the draw" that you ended up with a Springfield or did you have some connections working to your advantage brother? That Springfield is the most desirable IMHO... Would LOVE to see more pics of it my friend! You are more than welcome Pel!! Indeed, the Boss ( @Freebird ) is an AWESOME web makin, web managing lop eared varmint who, like many of us, are deeply respectful, proud of both our Veterans and our way of life:usa: and honored by the presence of our VR Veterans. He set up a club "Honor Badge" system whe re you go in and claim your badge.. Unlike our other awards which we can nominate each other for though, I think as a recipeint you have to claim your own badge to get the one you have earned (Don,, if your reading this and I am wrong about not being able to request one for a Veteran = please correct me..). To recieve the proper badge, just go to the top of any page in the forums, look to the right and locate the "awards" icon, click on it and scroll down to the Military Service section. Once there, just request the proper Award and fill in the request form and send it off.. Another way would be to just click here and follow the above advice: https://www.venturerider.org/forum/awards.php ***** having just visited the Award section to gather data for you I noticed that it does have a "Recommend" icon sooo,, maybe I misunderstood something.. Tell ya what,,, I am gonna just go ahead and recommend you for the Coast Guard award and see what happens.. I am not sure what I may bump into in filling out the form as far as required info so it might not be a bad idea to still attempt a request on your end too.. If we get in trouble for this dont feel to bad,, the clubs "Penalty Box" as actually pretty fun this time of year ..
  11. Shoulda used that E-6000 sittin in the top of your tool box right over there
  12. NOW your catching the rhythm... We'll just keep playin that tune till we get right!!!! Welcome to the Hotel California Carl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-K8FuaGzqUU
  13. 1st, and most important IMHO, things first,, THANK YOU for your service in upholding our way of freedom loving, Constitutional life brother:usa:!! Without sounding to pushy (and I know,, its none of my business anyway),, I would admonish you to claim your VR club honor badge so all our friends can quickly and easily note that you served!! Sounds like that precious shooter of yours ended up in hands that really truly deserve and will honor it!! That "CMP" group is the one I was thinking of! A bunch of us put in for the "Random" on the 1911's and a really good friend of mine actually ended up with one:guitarist 2:!! I actually watched those Field Grade 1 Garand's with eagerness too... IMHO, those were/are the closest to the real deal (something I cherish), I share HUGELY in your enthusiasem about aquiring such an honored and treasured piece my friend = BEAUTIFUL!!! So which manufacturer produced your new adoption Pel?
  14. Heyyy ya lop eared concrete bustin, new tuner installed and still cornfused (spelled that way in honor of our friend and brother = YammerDan) from that lil ol anisteesha, Hotel California livin varmint,,, your errant White Wash solution somehow found its way over here on the other side of the Pond... Keep losing track of that stuff and you are gonna get more than permenant residence at club Hotel Cal,,, I am gonna nominate you for a seat in the clubs Penalty Box WITH YOUR NAME ON IT ya lop eared White Washin varmint!! I mean REALLY,, take a look at the sad faces on Tweeks and Maggie having just arrived in the freezing garage from their winter home in that warm basement,,, have you no mercy? If your wondering why the pic is a little blurry, Tweeks is actually shivering...
  15. ,,,,, :scared:,,, and a DOUBLE WOWZY WOW WOW WOW :178::sign green with env!! Looky there,, Pel got himself a GENUINE GARAND FOR HIS BIRTHDAY :clap2::clap2::clap2::dancefool::dancefool: = the gun that took out the Nazi's and Japan and WON WW2 :dancefool::usa::usa::usa: SHE IS BEAUTIFUL @Pelican72!! Gotta ask,, is this one of those purchased thru that "club" that the Feds gave surplus access to? If so,, what "grade" did you get? If not, how did come across it?? Come on brother = spill the beans,, fire for effect,,, give the full details AND,, PRETTY PLEASE = MORE 's,,, ... Oh yea,, cause that M1 made me all blurry eyed,, I almost forgot,,, brother!!! Thanks for sharing! Puc

Yea,, I know, I think I fell on my head one to many times as a kid Duey cause sometimes I am REALLY hard to follow but,, given a second thought - I would say that over 50% of the time, what I say really does make sense.

  19. Oh come on now,,, I didn't think there was a lop eared friend :bighug:varmint on the site who didn't know the answer to that question!! I won't name a name cause that might be considered braggadocious but can tell you that the little scadeddie face covered varmint in the pic below is saying "thats simple,, the answer to that one would be my Grandpa"!!
  20. Sooo Mama,,, not to get to personal here on the open forum but I just gotta ask you something about those leather riding chaps of yours,,, are those tail lights I see on the back of your riding boots and if so,, did your 1st husband end up having to put a high output stator in your scoot to keep em powered up? :witch_brew:

I hear that brother,, I TOTALLY HEAR THAT!! Matter of fact,, if Mom Yam would have listened to us lop eared V-4 venture rider varmints instead of letting the air cooled V-Twin Star riders dictate the build of the new Venture and read our VR family''s input before they started production found here (still a GREAT read IMHO): https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?102280-Let-the-discussion-begin And, in my case, even if she would have remotely followed my wish list therein of: """"I have been a Yamaha enthusiast for many many years and they have proven to me over and over again that they are TOPS!! Owned a couple early YZ monoshock MX bikes way back and they were AWESOME!! My little RD350 and RD250 (remains still in my basement) were giant killers - proving Yamaha's superiority in R&D!! My 73 XS650 beat across the country with me on its back several times, chopped it and rode it many more miles until sold. Bought a brand new 650 Special, AWESOME "cloned" mini Harley that saw the west too!! My faith in mother Yamaha has been proven 5 times over by my continual riding of the 1st Gen Ventures starting in 1987 until present day with my 83 that has almost 300k on it!! Fact is, folks at Yamaha, I AM READY FOR THE NEXT PHASE!! All that said, here is my feeble wish list: 1700cc V-4 "V-Max" motor.. Detune it if you must (just like before) but please,, dont do another V-Twin - got enough of em.. You guys can do it,, I KNOW YOU CAN!! Shaft drive! EFI with a tunable tuner - even if its an add on - please provide one so we can tune it!! LED lighting. Engine guarding and saddle bag guarding. Adjustable bars like on the first gen. Factory tank and windshield bags. Fixed Fairing. Get the same Doctors who advised you on constructing the seat of the 1st Gens (cant remember what you call those guys) to advise you on this one - my kids, wife and I LOVE what they did!! Keep the seat height difference between the rider and passenger no more than 3 inches (2 is great) - raising the passenger higher causes weight imbalance and makes slow speed riding harder. Ease of removal of the trunk(s) for changing rear tire. Center stand. Forward boards with normal foot pegs located rearward so standing up while riding is still possible, shift and brake levers at both locations (no heal toe please). Hand warmers. Key removable rear trunk and bags. Grease zerks on all main pivot points. High output stator even though it has LED's. Double check the gear sets in the tranny and make sure they ramp up solidly. Oversized clutch to insure NO slippage in high gears with xtra weight. 42 millimeter front fork tubes with progressive springs. Imbed reflective tape (or use reflective paint) in paint lines (like pin striping) so all profiles of bike light up when grazed by car lights. Add a large foot onto side stand - tired of bending over to pick up stand plate after parking on loose ground. Explore which tire sizes are the most common and build around those standards so tire choices and finding them are easy. Remember those long grips you used on the first gens? Use those, I love bending them back onto my knees. Enclose the motor well to keep ANY objectional heat off both riders BUT - use lots of venting with plenums to act as heaters when needed. Windshield it so the rear rider remains in the protective air pocket - functional vents in shield and fairing to adjust air movement if needed (hey,, could be asking for servo operated shield but I dont care for more things to go wrong). 6 speed Over drive tranny. Use GOOD solder, especially with ECU pins. QC the daylights out of it! DONT go cheap and trust the Chinese!! Dont short us on wire harness leads so wiring is tight - xtra 1/4 inch really helps!! Make fairing panels easy to remove but not so they fall off. Supply printable shop manual disc and printed well written owners manual. Supply GOOD factory tire pressure guage. Chrome is out for me, I LOVE dull stainless (like the pipes on the "New" V-Max),, matter of fact,, build mine with no rustable chrome and all dull stainless!! Intercom, CB and radio would be nice.. Keep the tape deck. OK, if you REALLY are reading this and you like what I am talking,, PLEASE make mine just a little faster in stock form than anyone elses.. Not that I would ever use the extra pazzaazz but I have buddies that I gotta compete with and just KNOWING I have the fastest one would be worth an extra grand to me:big-grin-emoticon: I KNOW you can do it!! Keep the faith mother Yamaha - I AM!! Puc""" I would have joined you (and, after reading thru that thread again, along with numerous other club members) Duey in ripping into retirement funds,,, there is just something about being able to reliably go real fast real fast if you want to but yet piddle paddle puddly around all day in the desert at a measly +100 mph CTFW and watching the miles disappear around you.. By the way,, I think that Aprila is GORGEOUS:missingtooth:

While I will join Duey on the :rotf::rotf: Sky I really have to do so tongue and cheek.. Having spent an ample amount of time riding an OLD Liter Bike (R1) that is probably down by +50 HP on this modern day, injected (my R1 is Carbed) and tuned to perfection with its turner scoot and I honestly have a hunch that +190 MPH wheelies are no problem for that scoot.. Not saying you, but many people fail to understand Horsepower and how it builds once the engine R's cross past 5250 into the HP zone.. If you followed a dyno graph on this Aprilla and watched the HP continue building as it approached its redline of 14,500 rpm and then combined that with the fact that these scoots are designed to very easily handle speeds (as long as the rider stays in the pocket of air inside the fairinged body) in the 200 mph zone without much of a different feeling in control (just dont stick your hand outside of the air foil) or performance to that of a normal bike at 90 or 100 mph you would probably see the possibility of truth to their claim. One of the reasons (besides affordability) that I really wanted, and bought the earlier R1 as a bucket list bike was because I knew that shortly after the year of my bike the Feds started regulating max MPH. I would not be surprised to find out that the Aprila is actually bouncing off an electronic speed limiter at 217... Personally,, if I had to place money on whether or not the Aprilla would loft at +190,, we would be bettin against each other
  23. I call em Auction Addicts Jack,,,, once they get started at it,, ya might as well put the paddle in the pocket and go get an ice cream cone cause them varmints will go CRAZY = as you have proven here!!!

WOW WOW WOW WOWZY WOW WOW WOW :178::178:,,, talk about taking care business :guitarist 2::guitarist 2: While I LOVE Maggie (my R1), I could live with that under powered (torque) puny little, wont get out of its own way V-4 :cool10:.. Speaking of puny little liter superbikes,, I was watching Jay Leno play around on one of those new H2 boosted Kawies.. My face was plastered against the screen and Tip was giving me the as I screamed "COME ON JAY,, AT LEAST GET IT PAST 1/8th THROTTLE SO WE CAN SEE WHAT IT WILL DO A LITTLE",,, after his putzy little ride where he never got into the HP (above 5200 R's) and stayed strickly in the Torque zone,, Jay gets off and states,, ohhh yea,, it scared me - it is FAST AWESOME thread Duey,, THANKS!!
