NOW your catching the rhythm... We'll just keep playin that tune till we get right!!!! Welcome to the Hotel California Carl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-K8FuaGzqUU

1st, and most important IMHO, things first,, THANK YOU for your service in upholding our way of freedom loving, Constitutional life brother:usa:!! Without sounding to pushy (and I know,, its none of my business anyway),, I would admonish you to claim your VR club honor badge so all our friends can quickly and easily note that you served!! Sounds like that precious shooter of yours ended up in hands that really truly deserve and will honor it!! That "CMP" group is the one I was thinking of! A bunch of us put in for the "Random" on the 1911's and a really good friend of mine actually ended up with one:guitarist 2:!! I actually watched those Field Grade 1 Garand's with eagerness too... IMHO, those were/are the closest to the real deal (something I cherish), I share HUGELY in your enthusiasem about aquiring such an honored and treasured piece my friend = BEAUTIFUL!!! So which manufacturer produced your new adoption Pel?

Heyyy ya lop eared concrete bustin, new tuner installed and still cornfused (spelled that way in honor of our friend and brother = YammerDan) from that lil ol anisteesha, Hotel California livin varmint,,, your errant White Wash solution somehow found its way over here on the other side of the Pond... Keep losing track of that stuff and you are gonna get more than permenant residence at club Hotel Cal,,, I am gonna nominate you for a seat in the clubs Penalty Box WITH YOUR NAME ON IT ya lop eared White Washin varmint!! I mean REALLY,, take a look at the sad faces on Tweeks and Maggie having just arrived in the freezing garage from their winter home in that warm basement,,, have you no mercy? If your wondering why the pic is a little blurry, Tweeks is actually shivering...

,,,,, :scared:,,, and a DOUBLE WOWZY WOW WOW WOW :178::sign green with env!! Looky there,, Pel got himself a GENUINE GARAND FOR HIS BIRTHDAY :clap2::clap2::clap2::dancefool::dancefool: = the gun that took out the Nazi's and Japan and WON WW2 :dancefool::usa::usa::usa: SHE IS BEAUTIFUL @Pelican72!! Gotta ask,, is this one of those purchased thru that "club" that the Feds gave surplus access to? If so,, what "grade" did you get? If not, how did come across it?? Come on brother = spill the beans,, fire for effect,,, give the full details AND,, PRETTY PLEASE = MORE 's,,, ... Oh yea,, cause that M1 made me all blurry eyed,, I almost forgot,,, brother!!! Thanks for sharing! Puc

Yea,, I know, I think I fell on my head one to many times as a kid Duey cause sometimes I am REALLY hard to follow but,, given a second thought - I would say that over 50% of the time, what I say really does make sense.

Oh come on now,,, I didn't think there was a lop eared friend :bighug:varmint on the site who didn't know the answer to that question!! I won't name a name cause that might be considered braggadocious but can tell you that the little scadeddie face covered varmint in the pic below is saying "thats simple,, the answer to that one would be my Grandpa"!!
-
Sooo Mama,,, not to get to personal here on the open forum but I just gotta ask you something about those leather riding chaps of yours,,, are those tail lights I see on the back of your riding boots and if so,, did your 1st husband end up having to put a high output stator in your scoot to keep em powered up? :witch_brew:
-
I hear that brother,, I TOTALLY HEAR THAT!! Matter of fact,, if Mom Yam would have listened to us lop eared V-4 venture rider varmints instead of letting the air cooled V-Twin Star riders dictate the build of the new Venture and read our VR family''s input before they started production found here (still a GREAT read IMHO): https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?102280-Let-the-discussion-begin And, in my case, even if she would have remotely followed my wish list therein of: """"I have been a Yamaha enthusiast for many many years and they have proven to me over and over again that they are TOPS!! Owned a couple early YZ monoshock MX bikes way back and they were AWESOME!! My little RD350 and RD250 (remains still in my basement) were giant killers - proving Yamaha's superiority in R&D!! My 73 XS650 beat across the country with me on its back several times, chopped it and rode it many more miles until sold. Bought a brand new 650 Special, AWESOME "cloned" mini Harley that saw the west too!! My faith in mother Yamaha has been proven 5 times over by my continual riding of the 1st Gen Ventures starting in 1987 until present day with my 83 that has almost 300k on it!! Fact is, folks at Yamaha, I AM READY FOR THE NEXT PHASE!! All that said, here is my feeble wish list: 1700cc V-4 "V-Max" motor.. Detune it if you must (just like before) but please,, dont do another V-Twin - got enough of em.. You guys can do it,, I KNOW YOU CAN!! Shaft drive! EFI with a tunable tuner - even if its an add on - please provide one so we can tune it!! LED lighting. Engine guarding and saddle bag guarding. Adjustable bars like on the first gen. Factory tank and windshield bags. Fixed Fairing. Get the same Doctors who advised you on constructing the seat of the 1st Gens (cant remember what you call those guys) to advise you on this one - my kids, wife and I LOVE what they did!! Keep the seat height difference between the rider and passenger no more than 3 inches (2 is great) - raising the passenger higher causes weight imbalance and makes slow speed riding harder. Ease of removal of the trunk(s) for changing rear tire. Center stand. Forward boards with normal foot pegs located rearward so standing up while riding is still possible, shift and brake levers at both locations (no heal toe please). Hand warmers. Key removable rear trunk and bags. Grease zerks on all main pivot points. High output stator even though it has LED's. Double check the gear sets in the tranny and make sure they ramp up solidly. Oversized clutch to insure NO slippage in high gears with xtra weight. 42 millimeter front fork tubes with progressive springs. Imbed reflective tape (or use reflective paint) in paint lines (like pin striping) so all profiles of bike light up when grazed by car lights. Add a large foot onto side stand - tired of bending over to pick up stand plate after parking on loose ground. Explore which tire sizes are the most common and build around those standards so tire choices and finding them are easy. Remember those long grips you used on the first gens? Use those, I love bending them back onto my knees. Enclose the motor well to keep ANY objectional heat off both riders BUT - use lots of venting with plenums to act as heaters when needed. Windshield it so the rear rider remains in the protective air pocket - functional vents in shield and fairing to adjust air movement if needed (hey,, could be asking for servo operated shield but I dont care for more things to go wrong). 6 speed Over drive tranny. Use GOOD solder, especially with ECU pins. QC the daylights out of it! DONT go cheap and trust the Chinese!! Dont short us on wire harness leads so wiring is tight - xtra 1/4 inch really helps!! Make fairing panels easy to remove but not so they fall off. Supply printable shop manual disc and printed well written owners manual. Supply GOOD factory tire pressure guage. Chrome is out for me, I LOVE dull stainless (like the pipes on the "New" V-Max),, matter of fact,, build mine with no rustable chrome and all dull stainless!! Intercom, CB and radio would be nice.. Keep the tape deck. OK, if you REALLY are reading this and you like what I am talking,, PLEASE make mine just a little faster in stock form than anyone elses.. Not that I would ever use the extra pazzaazz but I have buddies that I gotta compete with and just KNOWING I have the fastest one would be worth an extra grand to me:big-grin-emoticon: I KNOW you can do it!! Keep the faith mother Yamaha - I AM!! Puc""" I would have joined you (and, after reading thru that thread again, along with numerous other club members) Duey in ripping into retirement funds,,, there is just something about being able to reliably go real fast real fast if you want to but yet piddle paddle puddly around all day in the desert at a measly +100 mph CTFW and watching the miles disappear around you.. By the way,, I think that Aprila is GORGEOUS:missingtooth:
-
While I will join Duey on the :rotf::rotf: Sky I really have to do so tongue and cheek.. Having spent an ample amount of time riding an OLD Liter Bike (R1) that is probably down by +50 HP on this modern day, injected (my R1 is Carbed) and tuned to perfection with its turner scoot and I honestly have a hunch that +190 MPH wheelies are no problem for that scoot.. Not saying you, but many people fail to understand Horsepower and how it builds once the engine R's cross past 5250 into the HP zone.. If you followed a dyno graph on this Aprilla and watched the HP continue building as it approached its redline of 14,500 rpm and then combined that with the fact that these scoots are designed to very easily handle speeds (as long as the rider stays in the pocket of air inside the fairinged body) in the 200 mph zone without much of a different feeling in control (just dont stick your hand outside of the air foil) or performance to that of a normal bike at 90 or 100 mph you would probably see the possibility of truth to their claim. One of the reasons (besides affordability) that I really wanted, and bought the earlier R1 as a bucket list bike was because I knew that shortly after the year of my bike the Feds started regulating max MPH. I would not be surprised to find out that the Aprila is actually bouncing off an electronic speed limiter at 217... Personally,, if I had to place money on whether or not the Aprilla would loft at +190,, we would be bettin against each other

I call em Auction Addicts Jack,,,, once they get started at it,, ya might as well put the paddle in the pocket and go get an ice cream cone cause them varmints will go CRAZY = as you have proven here!!!

WOW WOW WOW WOWZY WOW WOW WOW :178::178:,,, talk about taking care business :guitarist 2::guitarist 2: While I LOVE Maggie (my R1), I could live with that under powered (torque) puny little, wont get out of its own way V-4 :cool10:.. Speaking of puny little liter superbikes,, I was watching Jay Leno play around on one of those new H2 boosted Kawies.. My face was plastered against the screen and Tip was giving me the as I screamed "COME ON JAY,, AT LEAST GET IT PAST 1/8th THROTTLE SO WE CAN SEE WHAT IT WILL DO A LITTLE",,, after his putzy little ride where he never got into the HP (above 5200 R's) and stayed strickly in the Torque zone,, Jay gets off and states,, ohhh yea,, it scared me - it is FAST AWESOME thread Duey,, THANKS!! Puc

GOOD ?'s my brother!! The AR10 lower is pretty much a completely different varmint as, amoung other things, its magazine well is HUGE compared to the AR15 magwell. The AR15 lower in it's competed state (trigger group, stock) is one of the most versatile known to man,, IMHO of course. While the AR10 lower receiver does have a pretty good barrel/caliber selectabilty without having to go wildcating (22/250, 7 mag, 06,,, AR10? Ohhh yeahh) , the AR15 lower to upper compatibility and choice of "builds" is actually amazing. As I am sure you know, because the 556 is actually a 22 caliber - I did a drop in BCG (Bolt Carrier Group) 22LR with no barrel/upper swap, when you hear someone say they are shooting an "AR47" they are referring to and AR15 with a 7.62x39 (famous AK47 round) barrel that they swapped out into the upper receiver OR they just grabbed a x39 complete upper with the matching BCG and snapped it on a regular mil spec AR15 complete - unaltered lower receiver which is what I did above. The AR47 magazines are drop in ready (and cheap!!) and plentiful with no adapters or machining reguired on the AR15 lower to accept them. The AR47 is gas operated just like the 556 but, obviously it does take a totally different Bolt Carrier Group. You may see me do an AR9 in the near future as I find cheap auction parts to build with like I did with the AR47. Same thing here Sly in that the "AR9" refers to a 9mm barrel swap or a complete upper with a 9mm BCG. The 9 is a blow back shooter (just like your ol LEO 9's) so the gas block on the BCG will be "fake" and just be blocked off - .45 ACP, 40 smith, 357, 17 HMR and on and on same thing. All of those require magwell adapters to adjust to the smaller caliber mags but the AK47 does NOT. The Standard "AK" mags (nor SKS MAGS) will not work in the AR15 lower though,, they gotta be AR47 - AR15 mags. 300 Black out, 224 Valkerie and the like can all sit on AR15 lowers too. One of the things to be sure and look ahead about when talking putting together one of these puppies, again - IMHO, is hi cap mag availability.. Having always been on those lop eared belt feed kind of varmints and never in million years being able to afford being able to own (and shoot) a real deal water cooled belt feeder,, I gotta have Drum Feed availability for my AR's or I lose interest in em... I even did advance research on my AR12 (12 gauge shotgun - THANG IS AWESOME FUN) into drum feed for it before I went that route. There are plenty of AK platform 12 gauges that already had a drum feed for em but the AR platform did not so I was hesitant.. A couple phone calls and I found out that the manufacture was planning on releasing the drum feed this year and so was ProMag. I just notice they were not kidding,, ProMags is out now.. With the AR9 a person can find Glock adapters fairly easy (not cheap though, about 60 bucks) that opens a WHOLE magic world of being able to use GLock mags which,, WOWZY WOW WOW,,, WAYYYY COOL LITTLE HI CAP DRUM FEEDERS :dancefool: There I go,, gettin :Im not listening to,,,, any of that nonsense answer what you were wondering about brother:big-grin-emoticon:

WOWZY WOW WOW WOW ,, now THAT is SLICK Tuffy,,, wayyyyyyyyy cool :cool10::cool10: I love the design! Being a lop eared simple minded varmint like myself, I am sure it would not be to hard for anyone to understand my glee in seeing the advantage of easy peasy instant change from fitting big hands to small hands in a matter of seconds and right out in the field!! I REALLY like your new shooter brother = NICE:happy34:

IMHO, Fool is a true blue, genuine "BUILDER" while many of us, myself included, in taking parts and pieces and putting a shooter together are "ASSEMBLERS".. I went thru that discussion many times over the years when attending the Sturgis Rally and yakking with other builder and assemblers there concerning Choppers. When the Chopper craze hit and the flood of Cookie Cutters hit the market - "Assemblers" became numerous and "Builders" became very scarce.. I HIGHLY commend that lop eared White Washin varmint @Flyinfool for his building endeavor and share in the joy he speaks of in putting the time in (and I KNOW building anything can be time consuming). WAYYY COOL FOOL!! On the other hand though,, for those of us who are retired, have no longer got the use of worn out ol hands (and minds in some cases), have sold off machinery needed to make chips or tig up a mount but our lead tossing days are still not done ,, turning into an ASSEMBLER can be fun too .. A perfect example,,, this is what I would rate really simple assembly.. PSA recently ran a sale on their complete uppers (if you wanna keep it as simple as possible when assembling an AR,, make sure the Upper you purchase comes with the Charge Handle and the Bolt Carrier Group).. PSA's lowers were on sale a couple months back for CHEAP. Fold the hammer back on the reciever so it's in the Cocked position, flip the safety to ON, push the two receiver pins over to allow the upper in, drop the upper into the forward pivot pin location and push the pin in, pivot the upper into alignment with the buffer and push in the rear pin. Slide in a magazine and WHALA,, instant AR47.. ***Probably a good idea to take a stroll down Hickock45's AR15 cleaning vids if your gonna shoot one of these puppies though,, IMHO of course

Bum, I'd get the same grief from Tippy about Carl but I keep my Carl secret from her... That way BOTH us lop eared varmints (Carl n I) stay out of trouble and remain nice guys in her eyes

Know what cha mean Patch and that @YamaMama has ALWAYS been, and will for ever more be = THE VR Chat Anchor,,,, Anchor Peggy - The Boss With The Whip

Back at cha Cha - you are more than welcome brother glad to help! Indeed that E-6000 is some pretty cool stuff, glad you tried it and found it to be just as entertaining and useful as it has been around this joint!! Another really good product that I have used for many years is Seal-All = comes in a Yellow tube and available every where too. It doesnt stay soft and pliable bike E-6000 but it is DEFINITELY awesome patching and sealing stuff. I used it to patch a 2 inch hole in tranny case on one of my race bikes that had its chain come off during a weekend Enduro and that went thru the case and left a whole in the tranny big enough I could have almost swapped out 1st gear without opening the case. I cleaned the spot up real well with sand paper and brake cleaner, built a patch out of gum wrappers and Seal All, stuck the patch on in the evening and was back to racing the next day!!! Sold the bike a year later and that patch was still intact and working fine.. It ugly but the guy that bought the bike was VERY impressed with how the seal all had held up!! I also use to line rusty tanks with seal all - just buy several tubes, cut it with a quart of acetone to thin the seal all, shake nut and bolts in the tank to knock out the big stuff, rinse the tank with acetone and dump in the Seal All mix.. Didnt work as well as Red Kote but, IMHO worked better then the Cream Kits that were available back in the day.. Got me again talkin bikes Cha

Yeah but out of all the lop eared VR huggin varmints,,, everyone clearly knows who the King of Huggers is:stirthepot:!!!

Ya mighta read something betwix the lines that I didnt intend there brother,, I was definitely not in any way shape form or matter saying there was anything wrong with chat room verses posting = matter of fact,, they go hand in hand IMHO.. Many of us used to spend HOURS bouncing between the chat room and the home site = carry on a steady conversation in the chat room and post in the home site at the Water Hole at the same time = back and forth,, back and forth!! Grab a piece of Mama's pizza,, down a couple of Flyinfools Rum Balls, chug a drink of BJ's South Dakota fixure upper, laugh at Dan and Rbig going back and forth about which is faster the 1st or 2nd Gens and then jump back in the Water Hole and spew the dust off the fresh baked bread with your laughter as your trying to type a response to DragonSlayer or DragonRider or Carbon One or FlyDay or CMCoffey or BlackOwl or Bubber or who ever back at the Hole... Nope,, definitely NOTHING wrong that I see either way Patch!! The "Machine Gun chit" can be found in the chat room sounds.. Scoot back over there,, click on the little speaker icon in the chat room, scroll down to "AK47", click on AK47 and YOU will all of a sudden get the jist of the chat room machine gun = IT IS AWESOME AND A LOT OF FUN IF YOU LEARN TO USE IT AT JUST THE RIGHT MOMENT!! All most as much fun as "The Whip",,,,,,,,, almost:missingtooth:
-
,, I clicked on Mama's thread here thinking we were gonna replace the "WHY" thread with a "HOW COME" thread On a more serious note @Yama_Mama, IMHO, there may be several competing reasons for How Come. The Water Hole is no where near as lively as it used to be. It is amazing how a large portion of our membership of yesteryear was/is, no offence to anyone - this is just another Puc IMHO, of the same age and many of us are retiring into new phases as our tired out, hurting ol bod's are not quite as conducive to straddling a scoot for 16 hours a day on a touring bike as we used to - we done got puckered out. More then one of our geez,, I mean youthful elderly varmints have left for new adventures, some are still members but just not active while others have actually let their club memberships lapse. Others got involved in our Face Book branch (is that how ya say that? Is a branch? Division?) and tend to hang out on Face Book instead of at the edge of the Water Hole = I am a slowwwwww learner and just getting started in figuring out Face Book myself and am finding out how/why this could happen.. I now have a regular dayly consistent input into my Face Book page post area where I am getting daily input from friends and family I have not heard from in years. With only 24hrs a day like anyone else, I would predict that my VR Water Hole time will become scarcer too as I get more and more involved with the Face branch = basically just not time to do it all.. Then there is the hardest, saddest situation of all in answer to your question.. When Dan died, for some reason it occurred to me how many of our older original members we had lost thru time.. I know,, kinda morbid and hard to think about but Sister I gotta tell ya,,, that one took me hard.. Remembering the days gone by where you would cook for 10 or 20 of us members as we yakked the night away in chat and then whip us into shape to keep us from getting into trouble when our bellies were filled with everything from PERFECT PIZZA to amazing Ham Sandwitches and even Hot Dogs once in a while.. Not sure what it will take to draw in new blood and restart the old chat days but I do understand your asking "How Come".. Maybe some of the new members will relight the old chat room and discover some things we left behind.. If you are one of those new members who are reading this and thinking about it,, PLEASE be careful if you pick up the machine gun in the corner = I think I was the last one to pull the trigger on it and I left its magazine half full and one in the chamber
-
Yep,, I'd advise you to call Rick's and not listen to the advice that follows Cha but I am still gonna give ya my opinion cause I love ya and I LOVE chattin scoots. IMHO, the stator is a 3 phase stator no matter which vendor you buy from. The stock OEM stators on the MK1 1st Gens came with 3 white wires as stator output wires, that said, I would treat the three yellow wires from the stator in the same way as the OEM white wires. You could take an ohm meter and check your ol buddies advice by doing a normal stator wire ohm check = set your meter to 2k ohms or there abouts, attach one lead to a yellow and the other lead to another yellow and get a resistance reading. Now jumper to the other yellow with the other lead = should ohm out the same as the first. Jump from one set to the other testing all against each other = should all be pretty close to same resistance. Now check each yellow to ground = should show open. This clearly verifys stator is good and should also make it clear in your mind that it makes no difference which yellow goes where, just attach one to the terminal in place of an existing stator wire at the terminal. On the Rectifier, I would only be guessing but my gues s is they are gonna tell you Red to Red making no difference which one gets to which red terminal and Green to Black, same thing as the reds = makes no difference.. Look carefully at the wires though and make sure there is not a real fine line of additional color coding on them to specify its purpose... Now call those guys and see how close your ol lop eared VR riding varmint brother was on this one and PLEASE let me know
-
:sign yeah that::sign yeah that: IMHO, it sounds to me too like you are experiencing a starving of fuel condition, very possibly partially plugged jets.. Again,, and understand your getting this from a backyard mechanics pea brain, if you were experiencing a "fat on fuel" condition the symptoms would be the other way around. If it were my bike I would pull the diaphrams and slides, drain the bowls and then refill the bowls with carb cleaner (spray type found at any Auto shop) using a syringe and I would, one at a time, fill the carbs until the carb cleaner flowed out of the emusion tubes that the metering rods on the end of the slides slide into. Once the carb cleaner flows from the emulsion tube on each carb, close the drains and let it sit over night (keep the bike standing as upright as possible - I know the 2nd Gens do not have a center stand like my 1st Gens do which work great for this but maybe placing a board under the side stand getting the as close to standing upright would work in your case unless you have a bike jack you could leave it on? Next day, hook the syringe back up to one drain at a time, open the drain and pull the cleaner back into the syringe emptying the bowls, look at the carb cleaner, if nasty or discolored, refill syringe with fresh cleaner and repeat. Repeat until all your getting is clear cleaner back into the syringe. Once its clear, force the cleaner back in and pump the syringe to agitate the cleaner in the bowl and then remove with the syringe one more time. Dump the cleaner and refill with good fresh gas and fill the bowls until the gas trickles from the main jets/emulsion tubes. Once all carbs are done put the slides back in, line up the diaphrams, make sure you get the springs back in the caps correctly and put the screws in. Hit starter with no choke and it should start right up on all four. You may have to give it some throttle to get it to clean out. :sign **** happens:Depending on how it was stored you may want to check your tank for rust, personally I would just check it. If the tank is rusted and you have a plugged fuel filter or petcock screen or, if the carbs are so far gone they need to be taken down and have a full cleaning, that will be much more involved but still VERY doable.. Hope this helps somehow! Puc
