WOWZY WOW WOW WOW:178: = Now THAT is BAD TO THE BONE Herm :dancefool::clap2::clap2::thumbsup:!! TOTALLY AWESOME BROTHER!! Thanks for posting this!! @Freebird,, any chance this could find its way into the clubs permanent, read only Tech Library? This fundementally AWESOME IMHO!! Herm, any chance you may have done something similar for lift stantions for our bike? The type that would sit on the arms of one of the foot operated hydraulic jacks that slide under the scoot? I use stacks of hockey pucks and/or 2x4's but would LOVE to see something like you have done here for a more permenant and safer lift.. Irregardless though,,, I LOVE your work my friend!! NICE JOB!! Puc

Yeppers,, I dont agree with that Bongo either Mama,, aint none of gettin older,, we is ALL getter BETTER in our advanced maturity status,,, smarter,, better lookin,, better cookin,, even got brand new teeth on my end so now I can even chew those sandwiches and pizzas you make for us!! Nooo,,, I think, exploring the Medical Field and bumping into Doctors there that like to cut on our bodies and remove/replace stuff is playing a big part in why things slowed down to a crawl in Chat... I also still think that our Face Book platform played a roll in the slow down too as some of our regulars went that route for their puter time needs.. My son has been working with me on familiarizing me with how that all works and I am beginning to understand why some folks went that route = WOWZY WOW WOW WOW am I starting to have fun over there!! I just got caught up with friends on our VR FB page that I aint heard from for a while!! Plus I have a HUGE "natural" family of cousins, nieces, nephews who are FB'rs who I am now staying in touch with!!!! WAYYYYYYYYYYYY COOL!!! Anyway,,, those are my thoughts Mama!! Of course,, Bongo could be onto something,,, maybe,, possibly some of you lop eared varmints are indeed getting old BUT dont count on me being one em :guitarist 2::guitarist 2: Here is proof of my claim to fame on staying young = me and my "bucket list bike" named Maggie out chasing our tails!

Well ,, my bad,, I guess I missed that post where you asked how to find the clubs chat room Patch.. I know you asked about my "Machine Gun" comment of which I answered with an explanation of where it was found in Chat.. Because of that exchange, I think I may have made the mistake of assuming you already knew where to find chat and just had missed the sound making selection there.. Now that it's obvious that you did find chat (this is correct,, right?) and found no one in the "Lobby",, let me share an easy way that I check to see if any lop eared chat room varmints are in the chat room at any given time so I dont end up going there and talking to myself (not a good plan,,, usually when I have a conversation with myself bad things happen ). If you click on "forums" from the main page and get to the opening "forums" page (where all the forums are listed = click here if you are having a hard time following me Patch, this is the page I am talking about) = https://www.venturerider.org/forum/forum.php On that opening page, scroll all the way down to the bottom and at the bottom of that page you can clearly read who is in chat at any given time. This only shows current users in the chat room. Then, if you see folks in chat, you go back up to the top of the page and enter the chat room like you already know how to do. When you click on the VR Chat icon you will automatically join in the chat room fun. After you type a message in to join the fun, you just hit the "enter" key on your keyboard to make your comment viewable to the chat room varmints.. Make sense? Sorry I missed your original inquiry about how to access chat brother,, had I have seen it I would have gladly brought you up to speed on it all:happy34:.. Word of advice,, if need help in the future with something along that line, including bike repair or what ever,,, IMHO, the best way to get answers (and you may have done this in the first place but I am thinking this might be good advice for others not doing this and who may be reading this) to questions that I have found is to, after doing a quick search, start a new thread and state the nature of your question (as an example to others, if looking for access to the Chat Room, I would title the new thread something like = Need Help; How do I access Chat?). If your question is buried in a running thread about a different topic it is to easy to get overlooked IMHO. Hope this helps someone! Puc

Nope, Mama's leathers are legendary around the club,, IMHO,, the reason no one told you about the link was probably cause ya didnt ask ya lop eared varmint

CTFW fun on that 1st bike/1st ride, GR8 memories of days long gone by.

I LOVED those early SOHC 750 Honda's and spent a fair amount of time rebuilding em, dropping in 805 kits to make em really run and chopping em out to make some pretty cool Chops.. I had a Santee Soft Ride with an 18 over front end that, after raking the frame out, ran out to Sturgis several times.. GOOD RUNNING SCOOTS and very reliable = as long as you pre lube the cam real well if it sat for numerous years = I bought a "parts bike" one time from a guy who thought he could just fire er up after sitting in his barn for 20 years,, he went 5 miles, siezed the cam so solid that the cam actually snapped in half cause he didnt take a few minutes and pre lube that puppy -

Close to it brother,,, when I was in High School I had a slight receeding hairline and a well established 2 inch bald spot right on the top/back of my beener,,, my pea sized gearheaded brain was obviously growing with knowledge of spinning wrenches wayyy faster than my stretching from growth head could keep up with :doh: And yeah,, that Tippy,,,, WOWZY WOW WOW WOW ... I had to do a LOT of fast talkin and hard chasing to get a ring on her finger BUT,,, having learned at a very young age of the importance of steadfast and persistent and to not be afraid of hard work = LOOK who I ended up getting to spend 40 years (and still climbing) of my life with :thumbsup:!! Speaking of my shining beener,, wanna hear true but funny story about such? Thought so... Got a really close friend who has owned and operated the local Yamaha Shop for years.. George (the owner) is a few years older than myself and has a full head of WHITE (not grey,, SNOW WHITE) hair.. I walked into the shop one day, looked at him as I took a bite out of his donut laying on the counter and said "You know George,,, if that hair on top of your head gets any whiter you would be REALLY hard to see in a snow storm !! George looked at me standing there eating his breakfast, thought for just a second (George has ALWAYS been quick witted), stared at my head, smirked and said: You know Scott,, one nice thing about this head full of White Hair I am sporting,, I can always DYE IT -

:dancefool::dancefool: Indeed they were bullet proof engines but, the 350 Motosport I rode when I was a kid taught me they aint exactly long distance scoots.. After 20k miles, the little bicycle chain Honda chose for a timing chain (pre Hyvo?) would stretch to the point that the cam chain tentioner could no longer tension and then the chain would side slop enough to eat right thru the casting tunnel it ran thru and ya end up with oil pouring out from between the jugs,,, repairable with chewing gum in an emergency situation though -
While filling a 1 terrabyte hard drive with video's and pictures of times past for my oldest daughters Birthday present I ran across numerous old pics of a CTFW adventure that Tip and I took the year we were married... While far from being my/our 1st or last scoot, this old 71 Honda CL350 that I pieced together from parts and pieces did it's job magnificantly and hauled our newly wed backsides from our home in Fruitport Michigan all the way over to the east Coast of Michigan and up to the Upper Penisula (the pic on the water was taken on the North side of the Mackinaw Bridge) and then down along Michigan's GORGEOUS west coast back to our home.. The only issue we had was a flat front tire (she let go on a longgg sweeping curve in Alpena Michigan = a harrowing experience to say the least but as a rider with a passenger (didnt go down but spooky non the less) I learned a lot about riding down a scoot with a flat front tire when 2 up = knowledge that would come in really handy on future CTFW adVentures. The pic with me at the front of the bike was takin at garage where the owner loaned me the tools necessary to do the repair and even donated the tube patch stuff to patch up the tube and get us on our way again. Thought I would share with you lop eared CTFW varmints!! NOW ITS YOUR TURN!! GET OUT AND CTFW!! Puc

PERFECT TIMING Corporal Newkirk = PERFECT!!! Our decent riding doesnt even start up here in Michigan until late spring,,, July 1st. I may sneak some MGnEM's for the locals (of course,, these events are open to all BUT brrrrrrrrrrr and WOWZY,, WET TOO,, I sure wouldn't chance riding up here from out of State for a Hot Dog any earlier at this point in my life if I was coming up out of those warm southern states BUT,, last year videoarizona did come up for Maintenance Day and did fine I believe = he is much braver than I though).. July through August though,,, MICHIGAN is THE place to ride and I know ALL the great riding adventures here!! Matter of fact, our home is located right at the beginning of the prettiest, cool roads available for CTFW! My kids and Tip have all been cross country many times on a Venture with me,, camping and chasing back and forth thru National Parks and the like and my youngest daughter is absolutely convinced in her mind that our "Tunnel of Trees" on the Northern CTFW route is the coolest CTFW adventure anywhere in the States = that is why we call her "TOTR" (Tunnel Of Trees Rider).. Give your shoulder time to heal, watch for a July or August Puc's MGnEM, ride up, enjoy a day of Hot Dogs with all the fixens, travel light and stay here at the house for a couple nights and enjoy some of Michigans FINEST while here.. Go home FULL of Hot Dogs and great Michigan adVenture memories... I say listen to your doctor, heal up and THEN,, LET ER BUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RUNNNNNNN,, its the Russians :rotf: Hopefully you KNOW that I am just teasing you Fed,,, :group cheers::group cheers: my Russian brother!!! I am very very glad and honored to make your acquaintance my friend.. I really have no answers for your question as I am still riding one of the real old Ventures BUT I did want to welcome you to the Club!! Thank you for signing up and I bid you the very best in finding the answers you are searching for!!! Regards Puc -
Sly,, I grew up hunting public lands (you know,, lands that are owned by We The People) and learned the ends and outs of that business from my deceased Father (I inherited his 300 Savage,, its an old 99E Lever Action that my Mom bought for him brand new for their wedding gift - when I was 6 years old my dad started taking me Deer Hunting with him on public land and I can still remember how HUGE that 300 was to my little eyes - IT IS A TREASURE CHEST FILLED WITH GREAT MEMORIES OF SOME AWESOME TIMES WITH MY FATHER - someday I will dig it out and snap some shots for our thread here).. I hunted those Northern Michigan lands very successfully and even took my family on MANY hunting outings (both bow and gun) with me on them - we used the lands we owned.. About 12 years into raising my family on a small 10 acre piece of land in rural Michigan I grabbed a large piece of property with an old house on it north of Ravenna Mi that was SURROUNDED by thousands of acres of State Land. We raised our kids there with snowmobiling, dirt biking, trout fishing (one of Muskegon's best Brookie Streams ran thru our property) and hunted EVERYTHING from Rabbits (kids each had a Beagle) to White Tail right out our back door... The only down side I found (other than living on 5 miles of gravel road - when the kids got older and started driving fixing cars became a FULL TIME JOB!!) with the picture I just painted was that people REALLY had NO respect for our private land - even though it was clearly posted.. I, myself,, didnt even bother hunting our private acreage as I never really cared for the idea of a stray round goin thru the house.. I did have a "bait pile" (in Michigan bait piles are legal) on our property and tree stands over it BUT that was strickly a go to place for the kids = my kids had over 30 deer "named" and many many late nights, my oldest daughter would not come in till wayy after dark as she REALLY enjoyed just sitting out there and watching the deer play and listening to them after dark = all another VERY good reason why I REALLY DID NOT WANT TRESSPASSERS WITH GUNS OUT THERE.. I never actually did shoot a deer on our land,, having been raised on public = I always LOVED and enjoyed the freedom of hunting public and I did so even when living there... As time went on,, the burden of owning/insuring/monitoring/tearing down blinds/fixing cars and on and on just got to be more of a hassle than it was worth.. I had one group of guys who I had to chase off our property numerous times a year - nothing could convince them that "State Land Hunting" can be just as good and rewarding as private land can be (actually,, IMHO its better but ONLY if you know how to work it, scout it, plan it = HUNT IT) and that was very frustrating - sort of took the joy out of owning private IMHO...

Sadly,, the only shootin of the AR's I/we have done so far (this FOUL weather has been KILLING US) has been 2 boxes of 12 ga thru the AR12 (Tip shot most of those though as I was trying to determine whether or not she needed an AR of a traditional shotgun for her own shooter) and a few hundred rounds thru the AR15 with the 22lr CMMG conversion kit dropped in it to test the kit (ran great).. Sly,, I am sitting on a HUGE variety of ammo for both the 556/223 and the 308 for "testing" to see what each of them prefer both for accuracy and in feed. LOTS of Steel and Brass. Been shopping and buying off auction all winter and,, to be truthful,, am getting down right ornery with this weather... I WISH I could report something different my brother but these old bones just dont handle the cold like they used to.. Once the weather breaks and the fun begins,, would you like pics, vids and story telling time about such? Is there something that you would like me to do for fun AR "testing"? Dont be a shy Sly,, if ya got something you AR curious about,, let me know and I will do my best to give it shot (another pun intended).. Sign Me = The Fair Weather Biker Looking Forward To Fair Weather Shootin!!

Soon brother,, very very soon!! I met with one of our Upper Management "Puc's Meet Greet n Eat Meat" Staff members today and things are REALLY looking good for the 2019 Puc's MGnEM season.. We had some left over Dogs in the Freezers BUT decided to toss em and grab all, BRAND NEW,, 1/3 pound dogs so those puppies (pun intended) should REALLY grill up to perfection!!!! Keep your lop eared Hot Dog lovin eyes glued to the Water Hole my friend cause as soon as we get a break in the weather,,,, The Hot Dogs are gonna be just FLYING off the grills!!!

FOUND IT!! Spent some time out playing with our brand new 4x4 trail busting lil dozer and found the PERFECT spot for tossing 308 or 556 lead out to +1000 yard (according to my Range Finder) and busting all the clays we want!! I am gonna try a google map link for everyone here,, lets see how this goes.. You should see two HUGE open land fields - one on one side of a two track and the other on the other side.. If this works,, all my lop eared VR brothers and sister varmint friends will now know where to find Tip and I should we not be home when you stop by for a hot dog:missingtooth:... P.S. = could one of you varmints let me know if this works? THANKS https://www.google.com/maps/@43.451837,-86.1428897,920m/data=!3m1!1e3

WOWZY WOW WOW WOW = WAYYYY COOL PEL!!!! PLEASE tell your son that ol Pucster said THANK YOU to him too for his service!! HE and what he is doing is greatly appreciated brother!!:usa: Love where your going with :happy34:your Springfield = BEAUTIFUL!!!! Can not WAIT to see pics of the finished product my friend = I am an EXTREME admirer of that honored piece!! CONGRATS!! Speaking of the .17 HMR,, that is the caliber that kind of led that path to my going AR.. Wanting an affordable long range target shooter WITH affordable and not wanting to return to the hassles of reloading to make ammo affordable,, I eagerly followed the Ruger attempt at producing the 17 in semi auto.. It didnt work.. Then, not to long ago, Savage came out with the A17 that I had watched for a longggg time but was just not able to locate one for what I could put a center fire 556/223 Wylde chambered AR for and,, a little research and resolve turned up 223 ammo for almost exactly the price of .17 HMR... While I still have HUGE DREAMS of someday night hunting Coyotes and all that (never did it but have ALWAYS wanted to = thinking squeekin in a Coyote and locating/takin em out thru the Night Vision would be nothing short of REAL FUN), fact is,, physically I am thinking that dream is probably going to stay nothing more than a dream and if I had a Night Vision Scope it would end up hanging next to my Recurve and Compound Bow, Tree Stands, boxes of Arrows I fletched up years ago and all that stuff... I ABSOLUTELY DO appreciate you filling in the gaps of want though brother!! PLEASE keep the faith, keep up the good work and PLEASE keep the stories w/ pics rolling in here in Hotel California country!!! LOVING IT!! Puc

Will definitely take a peek at those front springs Roller.. Even though this beast of an ex-Utility future is obviously gonna be spent putsying around in the sticks,, crawling up and down forest hills with an occasional stop for Bonnie and Clyde to haul out the artillery and toss some lead or to slide the 10 foot flat bottom skiff and trolling motor out of the back end of er and pursue some lunker Bass hiding in those previously inaccessable State Land ponds (no hard core trail running = those days went out with the ability to Tour on a scoot and drop tent all over the States and Canada), I will still take a peek at them to make sure this thing has a fighting chance of staying together.. Be it known though, I have always been one to live a little on the edge. One of the great advantages of riding a beat up ol, missing 2nd gear 1st Gen (and now this 82 Ford) was found in the answer to my 9 year old daughters question as we set up camp on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon after following deer trails to find it, the question being asked with WIDE EYES on her part = "Daddy, what happens if Beeg (what the kids named our 1st 1st Gen) breaks down out here and you cant fix her?".. To which I replied, "then we pack up what we can carry and Beeg finds a new home as The Goddess Of The Canyon until some Park Ranger finds her and donates her bones to a scrap yard - we take a bus home, find another Beeg and start all over again and THAT my dear little one is one of the greatest advantages to riding a bike that cost little, served its purpose and owes nothing".. This Truck is living on that same edge of destiny,, breaks down out in the middle of no where in a way that I cant reasonably repair it on the spot = first come first served to the scrappers with 4x4's and we start from scratch.. Back when our home's acreage bordered thousands of acres of State Land I was actually one of those lop eared scrappin varmints who hauled "left overs" in off public propery.. I ended up with several scrap cars and trucks, numerous snowmobiles and even a couple Boats.. Easy money and the Authorities were ALWAYS happy to oblige with the paper work making the scrap mine to claim. A relative of mine got involved with the "Animal Control" side of things sort of in the same way. He would get occasional calls from the DNR about domestic animals gone wild and living on Public Lands. He would go out and either capture or shoot the animals (his choice) and ended up with several pretty cool farm animals that he got to keep.. He "harvested" one REALLY BIG TEXAS LONGHORN that was WAYYYYYY COOL!!!

Sad indeed when ever this stuff happens.. Prayers Up for the family and friends of the rider who lost his life due to such inconsiderate nonsense... What a shame..

Hearing that Roller... I sold my 351 Cleveland, 4 speed, side piped fast back Mach 1 for $1500 in the late 70's. I remember towing in LOTS of those old cars to the scrap yard when I was a broke kid and needed spending money,,, $25 each.. A guy could actually hit up those yards full of scrapped cars back then and parts were plentiful including body pieces.. Almost brings tears to my eyes thinking of some of the cool stuff that got crushed.. Days longgg gone by for sure..

Finding new pathways to CTFW on is not an easy endeavor.. I have always been one to struggle with change and giving up touring on a scoot has not been an easy task.. I am one though to not let lifes struggles keep my down,, for to long, so when living in a body cast for year while my back surgery healed, then Hand Surgery hit, then Brain fluid leakage hit,, then Heart Surgery, then Cancer Surgery hit with the resulting struggle of needing to sleep at any given moment (still think it all has something to do with physically getting old and worn out) required Tip and I to look for other ways to entertain ourselves - we started looking for new horizons.. First things first, for our touring needs we ended up with a really cool new car (first brand new car either of us ever owned) that we can sleep in AND it gets better gas mileage than any of our Touring bikes ever got (60 MPG).. Further dreaming (NEVER QUIT DREAMING AND FOLLOWING THOSE DREAMS = IT'S THE SECRET TO A HAPPY/FULFILLING LIFE IMHO) brought us into a past love of mine = SHOOTING (see my other thread about that if your interested = turns out, there are MANY of us lop eared varmints with a love for that endeavor). Now that our home has a Gun Room that doubles as an Ammo dump,, it dawned on me that we are going to need a mode of transportation to haul us and our newly aquired artillary equipment out onto our thousands and thousands of land that we own (State and Federal Lands in Michigan are still owned by us tax payers) to enjoy our new hobby (we dont have a shooting range right out our back door like some varmints = yes @Sylvester - I am speaking of you!! Having spent thousands of hours transversing those lands on a dirtbike in years past filled my mind with endless open fields and forests with area's PRIME for everything from tossing Clays to being able to safely shoot thousands of yards with a 556 or 308 (and even go Bass Fishing on small inland lakes that only a 4x4 can approach) but NOT in a brand new car.. So the search began for the perfect rig,, at a cheap price (I like the $1000 dollar scheme,,, never paid more than that for one of my 1st Gens so figured that was a good place to start for a 4x4). Also, just like my old 1st Gen's, the rig needed to be OLD so I could continue to run Historic Plates like on my bikes = 20 year plate for 35 dollars = my kind of deal.. Well,, here's what finally followed me home.. 1982 Ford 250 ex Utility Truck w/ a hydro turn plow.. Carburated Ford inline 6. 4 speed manual w/creeper gear. Got brand new tires on her. Had to put a set of tail lights on her = got brake lights and tail lights now but still no blinkers (found the wire harness under her for the lights and WOWZY WOW WOW WOW, it was still functional except for blinkys.. Think I will stick a set of blinkers on her mirrors and wire em in.. Was missing her breather (PO only ran it turning the winter to plow his driveway and lost her original breather). Took a trip to the local junk yard, counter guy laughed at me and said DUDE = ITS 2019,, carbs been gone for EVER = good luck finding a breather for that thang.. A little humping around the yard and I was able to piece one together = including an almost brand new filter!! Walked back to the counter = $3 for all of it,, including a pile of breather stem bolts and gaskets!! Also got a new fuel tank under her! Tip and I took er out for her maiden voyage yesterday before Fool turned down the heat and covered us in snow again.. We took her down to the lake to play in the beach sand = 4x4 works AWESOME!! Gotta LOVE the old style of manual transfer case and locking hubs!! Then we hit the north bound trails,, crawled down to a favored Bass Lake where the trail heading down to the lake was majorly root covered and eroded,, locked the hubs, stuck her in 4 DUBBYA D low range and IDLED back up over the roots and erosion with us both laughing as I held my feet over on Tips side to show her I wasnt even touching the throttle... Got stuck in 2wd in a sandy corner, got out, relocked the hubs, dropped her into gear and had to push a dead tree over to get out,, laughed as we thought we had dented our new trucks bumper = turns out the plow mount works like a cow catcher on a train and no visable damage,,, matter of fact,, I think the rig was telling us that it actually likes pretending its a Dozer.. The "boxes" look like they will easily hold our Artillery cases in safe mode behind locked doors and the other bins will hold a variety of Harbor Freight ammo boxes filled with ammo.. Thinking now of mounting a quick release electric Clay thrower system to her roof so I can slide a thrower on top and stand in the box and shoot pigeons. Also got dreams (never stop dreaming) of making a flip top on one or both of the upper bin lids to double as a bench rest for setting the bipods on the AR's on,,, always something aint it!!!

You are welcome my brother!! Wait till you see the new thread I am getting ready to start about the next step in this Phase Change for Tip and I... I gotta hunch you are gonna be reinspired,, or, at a minimum get a kick out it.. Just cause our body's wanna go on a permenant geezer land vacation doesnt mean we have to cave in to it .. Keep an eye out in the Water Hole for my next battle for keepin on keepin on brother Way I figure it is this bumpy little downhill on the path we are all traveling on is not cycleable for many of us hurtin, worn out varmints but still we manage to locate the treasures of the trail before us and enjoy sharing those treasure with each other... Kind of strange when ya think about this being a MC Club and the many of us who talk about everything else now besides scoots... Guess thats what makes stickin around for the after show like this adding deeper meaning to the whole "Hotel California" thingy... Oh my gosh Sly,, I just thought of something else thats also kind of weird about the path we are traveling on involving building AR's, hoggin down the handguns (lookin at a Beretta 5 inch now) and tossing lead,, doesn't the title "Hotel CALIFORNIA" not seem right for us 2nd Amendment/gun loving geezers.. Thought I felt a cold breathe go down my spine when I thought of that one brother .. Sometimes I think I was born with an overactive beener or something...
-
Was it "luck of the draw" that you ended up with a Springfield or did you have some connections working to your advantage brother? That Springfield is the most desirable IMHO... Would LOVE to see more pics of it my friend! You are more than welcome Pel!! Indeed, the Boss ( @Freebird ) is an AWESOME web makin, web managing lop eared varmint who, like many of us, are deeply respectful, proud of both our Veterans and our way of life:usa: and honored by the presence of our VR Veterans. He set up a club "Honor Badge" system whe re you go in and claim your badge.. Unlike our other awards which we can nominate each other for though, I think as a recipeint you have to claim your own badge to get the one you have earned (Don,, if your reading this and I am wrong about not being able to request one for a Veteran = please correct me..). To recieve the proper badge, just go to the top of any page in the forums, look to the right and locate the "awards" icon, click on it and scroll down to the Military Service section. Once there, just request the proper Award and fill in the request form and send it off.. Another way would be to just click here and follow the above advice: https://www.venturerider.org/forum/awards.php ***** having just visited the Award section to gather data for you I noticed that it does have a "Recommend" icon sooo,, maybe I misunderstood something.. Tell ya what,,, I am gonna just go ahead and recommend you for the Coast Guard award and see what happens.. I am not sure what I may bump into in filling out the form as far as required info so it might not be a bad idea to still attempt a request on your end too.. If we get in trouble for this dont feel to bad,, the clubs "Penalty Box" as actually pretty fun this time of year ..
