Bout the best I can do on this one are my Muly horns I have strapped on the front... Should have seen me whipping the stinking carcass around in a circle standing in the middle of an old desert highway out in the middle of Montana last summer... What a blast... The Jack rabbit almost got strapped on too but his insides were alive with worms.... welllll,, I couldnt find a shot of the front of my Venture and its way to cold for me to go out in the barn and take a pic sooooooooooo,, I gave you a picture of my spine repair instead... hahaha 'Puc

I use mine alot for hunting bear... We let the dogs run and I usually run point on the two tracks on my Venture.. My dad (who is a stroke victim) will hang back in the truck and we communicate back and forth with the CB... I can see where "normal" folks wouldnt really get much use out of one with the cell phone popularity BUT for hunting,, you cant beat a CB... 'Puc

Sooooooo,,, did anyone check in the Bon Soo costume and see if thats where AlGore has been hiding????? Global warming,, bahhhh.. Glad you made it home ok,, that white out business can be a real rascal..

Rode up to the gas station to get fuel, not a soul at Bridgeton except for counter person.. She commented too about how quite it is.. Quite,, real quite, to quite,, somethings up... Rode back to hangout at corner, place is never without at least 4 sleds and always another gearhead to yack at - especially on a weekend nightnight like this.. Not a soul.. Rode over to the red barn on Apple Ave,, apparently everyone has abandoned the planet cause NO ONE is there.. Came home, called my daughter in Manhatten to see how Med School is going... Said she couldnt talk right now cause,,,, something about a bowling party with her friends from Queens or something.. Called my other daughter in Greenville SC and her roommate told me that she was at a Bowling party with her boyfriend.. Something REALLY strange about all this is I have never known my kids to be bowlers.. Yes,, I took them bowling a couple times when they were little but they never ever showed any sign of particularly liking the sport... hmmmmmm 'Puc

Well,, I have a pair of Genuine Harley Boots with the strap joining medallion that says Harley Davidson and has a pic of a Harley stamped into it.. THese boots were over 250 bucks new but I got them slightely used from a guy who couldnt afford to maintain his Harley lifestyle.. Got the boots for 25 buck - they had been used on one ride.. I wear them alllll the time and they are the most comfortable biking boot I have ever owned.. I have well over 100000 miles on them road tripping and MANY times those boots and my black riding shorts are the only clothes I wear... So yea,, Harley does make good stuff... 'Puc

Welllll,, there are those of us Americans (I am refering to the citizens of the USA and using the term "Americans" as a short term for United States of Americans..) who never have bought into the term "African Americans".. Our country is progressing through the dismanteling of dividing off our people into groups/races and uniting us into one people.. It has been a longgggggg process but it is well worth it.. I am sitting here watching a PBS broadcast and as I type this there are a Black man, a Latino women and a Women discussing a book that the two ladies wrote about American Foriegn Trade... The three of them are American business people and they were introduced as such,,,, color of skin and past family history didnt even come into play... This,, as it MUST be in our country, is FINALLY becoming a way of life... Concerning what is happening in Canada, or any other country as far as that goes,,, you all be very careful up there.. We in the USA have proven that ethnic division at best will be tumultous,, at the worst it will lead to severe civil unrest.. Better to define a person by the condition of their heart and not by the color of their skin.... 'Puc

THANK YOU for the invite Kit,, you just never know, it may very well happen!! I happen to get down that way I will certainly look you up!! Hey, I have been trying to get a small group ride together (Church group) to go down and do the Dragon.. Question has come up about whether or not I am going to coherse the group into riding my style (Cowboyish stuff sleeping in ditches and the like).. There is one husband/wife team (each have there own scoot) and ironically it the lady (her name is Kay) is the one who WANTS to go hardcore biken with the bags and the tents hahahahah.. Anyway,, I will keep you posted and if you (or others on here) happened to be on the same hemisphere I would LOVE to get some seat time in with ya'll!!! On the footpeg placement.. Something I have noticed MANY times on the newish scoots.. I ride ALOT standing up - when ever we are in parade crawl and people are dragging their feet wearing out brakes and stuff you will see me up on my pegs riding like a trials guy.. Just my style,, standing up gives you super control at a snails pace.. Anyway,, one of the major problems of the newer bikes for people like me is having those pegs forward REALLY messes ya up for standing,, you can do it but its all back and leg and arm muscle work if you do.. As a matter or fact, on my 69 Santee chop I actually did away with my forward controls, put a pair of swinger bars on for a place to put my feet forward but the controls and old triplet boards are back under the rider where they should be,, at least should be for someone who wants to stretch once in a while.. I say all this because I look at th foot placement different then most I guess,, Where you Wings pegs are actually gives you the largest variety of leg movement and on a touring bike (anybike that your going to RIDE really) that is ultra important!!! She is a BEAUTY Kit!! I love her front fender chrome, headlights and that tail light assembly is nothing short of awesome!! FINALLY a manufacturer is taking a very serious approach to lighting - I bet that sweetheart lights up the highway like a 747 on a runway!!! THANK YOU for posting the pics,, if you need someone to blame putting up pics on here besides our Venture pics blame me hhahahha- I asked (and glad I did!!!).. Wow thats sharp! On another note,, I have a daughter in Greenville SC.. We take 75 to 40 to 26 (under Ashville) when ever we go see her.. I noticed you are in Lexington - is that like Lexington Kentucky?? If so,, is that memorial close to our route to Greenville?? If so, can you give me a clue - my wife is a major History buff (it was actually her Major in College) and I would love to show her that!!! NICE SCOOT - have a GREAT riding season on SureFoot! 'Puc

or just run over the stupid thing with the car hahahaha Not to steal the thread here but I have another snake story.. Few years ago a man walks into my shop and asked if I happen to have a used intake manifold for a Honda 175 Twin.. I said I though I had a couple of them outback in the junk yard so we went for a walk.. This customer seemed pretty geeked about my old bikes out there and was busily diggy thru bikes looking for what he wanted and chatting all the time.. He was bent over an old Yammie 125 and had his head down between the two bikes looking at the topend on the honda CL175.. I happen to notice the body of a 6' Michigan Blue Racer wrapped around the bars on the Yammie,, I followed the body of the snake to the end that bites and noticed that it was about 8 inches from his head and its little forky tounge was busy tasting the air trying to fiqure out exacty what he was... The man asked me a couple quick questions concerning the price of the manifolds, I answered him and then switched the conversation to snakes by asking if he was afraid of such... As soon as I mentioned them I KNEW he was a going to be one of those kind of folks by the way he snapped his head up from between the bikes and said "why?? do you have snakes??". I calmly said, well I dont really have them, they just are around and I happen to notice that Blue Racer hanging from that Yammie checking out the back of your neck a minute ago.... WHEWWWWIEE,, that guy jumped in the air, came down 2 rows of bikes over, hit the ground running and never looked back.. Got in his old Suburban and I never heard from him again.... True story too!! When ever I am crossing the country, mine or yours, and have one of my kids or wife on the back I pack.. I really could care less about some politicians prospective about my right to protect my family.. Fact is, I would rather spend the rest of my life locked up than to be in a situation where I am helpless to prevent something really bad from happening when my 45 could have stopped it.. BUT,, and its a HUGE but,, I dont frequent bars/parties, and dont touch booze or other mind altering things that interfere with my ability to judge situations.. Also, if things look iffy I go the other way.. Also, there have only been two times in over 30 years of biking that required iron assistance and niether one cost the 20 cents of a discharge - thankfully.. Once on a beach in Northern California and once in a remote campground in BC,, again, thankfully both times with "seeing is believing" ... When I am alone I only pack if I am going into the wilds where animals could be a problem and that is really rare.. Even on my trips to Sturgis or other crazy places I dont carry.. Fact is,, I would rather give someone my bike or clothes or wallet or what ever then kill someone.. This stuff just aint worth it.. A broken arm or caved in chest from a side kick if given the chance,, yes, but to take a life,, nahhhhh.. Funny one about Canada.. The wife, the kids and I are headed across in Port Huron in our Motorhome.. Going on a 2 month trip... The guard asks if I have any firearms.. I said yep.. He says what for.. I said cause I have a family to protect.. He says, if you would have said for hunting I could let you pass but now I cant.. He said, you can either leave your gun here and pick it up on the way back or turn around,, I said, oh ok,, guess I will turn around and not spend any money in Canada - just stay in the USA where freedom rings and I am still free to protect my own.. I started to pull forward into the turn around area and he stopped me.. He says,, do you promise to keep it locked up.. I said yep, it hasnt been out of the closet in 5 years (old shotgun) and it never will be unless it is absoulutly needed.. We visited Toronto, Novia Scotia, and that place with the worlds biggest tidal action and tital bores (cant remember the name).. Spent almost a month in Canada and never had to call er to duty (thankfully) BUT if I would have it was there!!! 'Puc

Sure enough,, I recognized that right away.. Thats an upper control spring off the convertible top from a well endowed exotic dancer.. Now the big question is is how did it get on Goldies garage floor??

Hey Kit - CONGRATS BRO!! Your gonna love it - two wheels, Honda quality AND a thrill anytime you want it!!!! I have tested the Hondas on several occasions and would LOVE to have one,, my problem is MONEY and SPACE and the ability to ride the several scoots I already have.. Concerning the foot placement thought,,, I am 6'1'' barefoot,, have crossed the country many times on everything from DT250 yams to Harley's and I have never had a problem with any of them.. Of course, probably like you,, my feet are all over the place,, up on the bars - on the front pegs - on the rear pegs - stretched out on the blinkers - sitting indian style - standing up,, what ever it takes to get to ride another WONDERFUL mile on two wheels!!! I hope you get zillions of miles of fun on your new scoot and NEVER have to deal with bad dealers - THAT is no fun (dont care what kind of scoot it is - if the dealer aint behind your new purchase and/or you get a lemon it takes the fun out of ownership)! WE NEED PICS!! and concerning the giving a 1st genner a run for the money,,,,,, oh yea,, lets see what it does against this R1 I am looking at hahahahha LET HER BUCK! 'Puc

Wild hair: You REALLY need to check out an Electrical Nerve Stimulator.. THere are several types - I am currently using an external body one that keeps muscles alive.. Like I was saying in my prior post, I had an implanted unit at one time... That unit is made by Medronics. One of the big down falls of the implanted unit is that it works FANTASTIC on sciatic nerve pain BUT is suffers in its total back coverage abilities.. If you have predominitly sciatic pain it would be AWESOME!!!! They take a small wire with little protrusions on it separtated with about 1/2 inch of space between each one. Each of these protrutions are a transmitter for electrical pulse.. A controller is implanted under your skin that controls the pulses to these transmitters.. You are awake during the surgery while they move this wire along your spinal cord (not much fun) and find the exact spot on the nerve system to effect the pain.. When its all done, you program this unit to intercept pain messages from the sciatic nerve -- YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT HOE EFFECTIVE IT IS!! I had such massive sciatic nerve pain before this surgery that I literally could not sleep for days!! I was a zomby - this VERY effective method saved my life and prepared me for some very sensitive repair work to be done.. I have some pics around here somewhere of my testing of the unit,, gonna see if I can find them.. Dont let them scare you off!!! The pics are actually during some totally PAIN FREE times because of the unit!! 'Puc

Hi David: I have had 5 back surgeries since November of 03. I am also facing another major repair in my low back and at least 2 in my neck.. A car accident left me almost cut in half by my seatbelt (we are forced to wear them here - NOT GOOD!!!) and the resulting snap of my torso did major neck vertabra damage. My sacrium was separated from my L-5 vert and broken pieces of the Facia Joints (the little fingers on the side of the spine that keep it aligned) we in there cutting things up.. The L-5 was sitting on the edge of the sacrium and captured by less then 1/8inch of surface - basically my spinal cord was held in a real tight "s" and PAIN beyond belief was the result... Sciatic Nerve pain was a HUGE part of this pain as well as low back pain so bad that, if and when I could stand and brush my teeth I had to support my body weight with my elbow on the sink to brush... All this coming from someone who was VERY active - Motocross was my game of choice and I was pretty good - MANY first place semi pro races from 69 to 78.... Anyway,,, my HERO now - my Neurosurgeon went in - cut off the broken joints - moved all the nerve bundles back in place - rebuilt my L-5 spine with titanium rods and a ti cage to support the spine.. I as flat on my back in a body cage for 6 months, did 2 years of therapy and am just now getting to feeling ready for my next repair.. I write all that so you KNOW that I can relate.. The "system" that you speak of is a pain med delivery system that is held within your body. It automatically delivers a prescribed amount of pain med so you dont have to fool with pills.. The system may or may not be for you, it all depends on your tolerance to different meds and to having a foriegn object (literally a small pump) in your body.. I personally had an electrical stimulator installed in my spine with the controler installed in my left side.. I had a progammer that I could program the pulse lengths and stuff (very simular to remapping an EFI system on a bike). IT WORKED AWESOME!!!! I literally could "tweak" out sciatic pain in seconds!!! I had it for a while but after chatting with my neuro surgeon about it I decided to try life without it again - with med therapy I am doing ok.... The pump your surgeon has suggested does basically the same thing only chemically.. I have heard MANY good things about this method of pain control.. If you think about pace makers that millions of people use to stimulate their heart you will probably be more relaxed about this type of help. The pump system is very simular in technology only instead of being hooked up to your heart its hooked up to a pump.. Also,, many years ago I found this really cool web site called "Spine-Health.com". There are forums upon forums with everything from med pumps to surgeries,, may times the actual manufactures will jump in with suggestions,, neuro guys from all over the world at times will check in.. Check it out, grab a screen name and get involved.. SOmething else that I have noticed about back pain and its related issues (depression, suicide, pain management ect..) is that many times good meaning people will say things and do things that they think are correct but they dont have a clue.. Comments like,, be a man you dont need drugs grit your teeth and handle it think of how much pain a woman goes thru when havin a kid your a sissie and so and on and on and on.. MANY time even a spouse does not have a clue as to the frame of mind that chronic back pain can leave you in... Pain meds are a MIRACLE sent by God!! Dont let ANYONE fool you into thinking you have to live with severe pain - get in good with a good neuro-surgeon and listen to him.. Hope this helps somehow!!! If I can help more let me know. 'Puc

Those Vulcans are really sharp scoots, indeed they are real tame compared to a 1st genner but hey,,, pretty hard to find something that isnt.. Nice choice Granpa!! On another note,, the Repo Lot down in GR had a RSV Midnight late last fall for 5k.. I went over, drueled over it some, got a battery jump on it and started it - sounded REAL GOOD.. The only flaw I can recall is there were several small scratches on top of the tank where it looked like someone had try to remove a tank bib.. The bike had a little over 5000 miles on it.. It is very possible that its still there.. If your interested the name of the place is West Michigan Creditors and they are on Remembrance drive in Walker (suburb of Grand Rapids).. May be worth a shout..... 'Puc

I have used a trailbike on private property in hunting whitetail deer for years here in Michigan.. Low range, second gear has pulled two 140 pound bucks out of the woods with a little CT90 on more then one occasion.. Dont ever under estimate the versatility of a motorcycle in the hands of skilled rider,, it has been proven over and over that anywhere a person can walk a person can ride AND can ride in many places a person cant walk!!! The motorcycle,, far more versatile then a horse and it smells better too! 'Puc

IMHO,, the AMA is like any other big organization.. If your looking for a "family" atmosphere (like on here) and personalized care you wont find it with the AMA, BUT,, and this IS a huge BUT,, they do a LOT of good for our sport and they do represent us in the legal arena's.. The mag is cool, the stickers make great conversation pieces and,, at times, you do get some discounts along the way.. I personally feel the same about them as I do the NRA, any organization that actually takes a stand against the treehugging idiots that place the life of a Blue Garner Butterfly above human life have my support.. To me, the key is to do your research and KNOW that they are actually doing something and not just banking our money,, and in that prespective the AMA is active!! 'Puc

WOW - that is absoulutly incredible!! Not only are you a walking/talking miracle in the flesh,, you also get the fantastic scar head to boot (that is sooooooo cool!!).. Indeed, you better be thanking God that all turned out like it did,, that could have been a REAL bad deal!!!!! Prayers up for a speedy and full recovery!! 'Puc

Shop manuals and aftermarket supply house mags are my wintertime mainstay.. I am backwards of most folks cause I am REAL busy building all winter long... Although I must say,, this winter has been a lot different then the last 25 or so,, due to Michigans Recession my wife and I are house hunting... Boredom isnt even in the Cowpuc trailbook... Tell you all one thing - its a WONDERFUL time to invest in property - we havent seen these kind of prices since Jimmie Carter almost destroyed us!!!!! 'Puc

I am sure that most of us had "normal" upbringins and to a certain extent all our lives paralelled the next person.. I am suggesting that we take a step back in time to those early makin out days (just typing that made me look over my shoulder to be sure my mom wasnt reading,,, hey wait,, being married for 27 years and having raised 4 gorgeous kids,,,, i dont have to watch over the shoulder anymore.. To my mind those memories were also filled with wonderful music that fit right in with the hour.. Here are some that popped out of my mind.. ANyone remember them? Anyone live in a different place and time and have a completly different style?? Anyway, here is mine.. Keep in mind folks,, these were being played on a genuine 8 track player.. Tommy James and the Shondells - I think we're alone now,, there doesnt seem to be anyone around.. Bread - when I saw her standing there,, I about fell of my chair,, and when she moved her mouth to speak, I felt the blood rush to my feet.... Now it took time for me to know,, what she tried so not to show Hermans hermits -- mrs. brown youve got a lovely daughter... Dont know much about history,, dont know much about biography,, dont know much about a science book,, dont know much about the french I too,,,, but I do 2 and 2 is 4 , I know that if you loved me more what a wonderful world this would be,,/// The great sachmo - Louis Armstrong - what a wonderful world The Monkies,,, 1st train to clarksville, Freddy Fender - before the neeeezxt teardrop falls.. Beachboys,,, ENDLESS SUMMER and its still going on.... Micheal Jackson, I'll Be THere Janis Joplin - Me and MY Bobby Magee Mikeal Parks - Long Lonesome Hiway Bob Seagar and the Silver Bullet Band - Turn the page, running against the wind And of course for ever and ever and ever,,, Willie Nelson - My Heroes have always been cowboys,, Momma dont let your babies grow up to be cowboys, till I gain control again, good hearted woman and a whole lot more.. Nuff of mine,, now its your turn.. LETS HERE IT and lets go back to those really great days one more time!!! 'Puc

WOW SQUID!!!! As already stated THANK GOD you two are ok!! AS I look at those pics, I can just feel the ground shake as that gorgeous scoot tumbles.. I have crashed MANY times while MX'n and riding stunts but there is NOTHING that even comes close to the massiveness and impact of a full dresser being destroyed - IT IS HORRIBLE!! Thankfully these things are nothing more then steel and plastic (I say that respectfully folks) and can always be replaced - not so with the ones we love - you two are living miracles!!! 'Puc

FJR Rider and My Relationship With The VentureRiders
cowpuc replied to FJR Rider's topic in Watering Hole
NICE KIT!! Right from the hip and straight as an arrow and EXACTLY my thoughts!! Gotta ALWAYS remember,, its the internet,, behind that screen could be a 12 year old playing playground again so you simply cant take this stuff seriously,, and to let it upset a perfectly good day is not a good plan... If something is amiss and you dont jump in good for you,, if you do good for you hahaha.. In the big picture (IMHO, the big picture of this site is found here ",, a person who really wants to be part of all the FUN simply should ask himself/herself if you are contributing in a positive way to the above mentioned mission,, if not,, your replys will probably not even be read and even if they are,,, the will soon disappear into the vastness of cyberspace.... and life is goooood again.. 'Puc -
