  1. Rock n roll!! Cutting across the Sand Hill back roads of Nebraska we discovered a section of route 83 that was still water covered from the spring rains that flooded a lot of the area. This area had been watered out for so long that thousands of little Catfish were sharing the roadway with the vehicles. Because Trooper sits so low to the ground we decided not to risk the crossing and detoured back to Thedford before heading back north toward the bike rally at Sturgis.. Some of the bikers who were heading that way too joined us but many of them were brave souls who just went ahead and forged onward (Tip, Tweeks and I would have!!)! One never knows what fun may appear over the horizon when out CTFW(s) while out enjoying this great land of ours! Get out and ride!!
  2. Years ago I went thru a plathora of products testing for cleaning seats as well as other common materials on scoots I was restoring. The very best product I came up with is a product called "Greased Lightening".. It is amazing well it works if used properly. I found that direct application to the seat (seat off the bike as Lightening will stain aluminum if not carefully used) and scrubbed with a scrub brush and power washed to remove the Lightening worked EXCELLENT! Work hard and fast Bum, scrub for a couple minutes, rinse/spray to see what you have. If not happy = repeat.. MAKE SURE YOU RINSE THOUROULY = stuff is powerful..PS - it does work EXCELLENT as a wash too in a diluted state as mentioned on the jug but you REALLY gotta be careful around unpainted/clear coated aluminum!! Here's the product on ebay but check out Menards or box store for bigger bottles - this is just an example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-GREASED-LIGHTENING-MULTI-PURPOSE-CLEANER-DEGREASER-3-2-OZ-BOTTLES/163641988082?hash=item2619d293f2:g:g04AAOSwmaVblVs-
  3. Here is how they do it down in Texas.. We woke up in the outback down there on our recent trip and I noticed this shooter guarding a Texans home.. Wayyyyyy cool thing to wake up to,, as long as your one of the good guys ..
  4. Couple of my neighbors just stopped by to welcome us home.. Both just ordered these up: https://www.smga.com/american-tactical/1911-military-5inch-45acp-190 and trying to talk me into the same.. No way hosay I told em,,, why buy another 1911 when I already got one.. Can't wait to shoot theirs though Still watching for a good deal on a Berretta 92F myself.. Thanks ya bunch of lop eared lead tossin varmints for keeping the lead flyin around here!! LOTS of REAL purdy shooters showing up!!
  5. GOOD ON YA FOR GETTIN IN THERE AND GETTIN IT FIGURED OUT MY FRIEND!!!!!!! Prayers Up for your day of diagonstics Don and a good outcome therein!!
  6. It sounds to my untrained beaner like you might just be running out of electricity and not fuel.. This happens if there is an issue with the charging system - the bike runs fine till the battery runs low.. I'd pick up a cheapy HF volt/ohm meter and do a voltage check across the battery cables with the scoot running. I would be looking for 12 volts minimum at idle and 14.5 voltsish off idle when the voltage regulator kicks in..
  7. Out of curiousity brother, have you had your ears/hearing checked recently too? A small amount of wax on a drum or an inner ear infection can cause symptoms like you are experiencing BIG TIME!! I know what your facing on making the decision to back off on the two wheeler travel my friend,, it is definitely NOT a fun decision to make,, especially when riding/working on em and owning em is such a passion that we share. My demise was due to overwhelming tiredness hitting out of no where and, as your situation, things could have gotten ugly fast - just not worth the risk. Tip and I switched over to 4 wheels, just got in from a 7k miler plus,, had a BLAST but did indeed experience the tiredness several times and she had to drive while I slept. On the way in from Sturgis it "hit me" in a construction zone, pulled over in a rest area, got out, pulled the bed forward while Tip moved behind the wheel, slid my shoes off and crawled in,, woke up an hour later all ready to roll again and discovered I had left my tenner shoes on the pavement LOL.. I then told Tip how happy I was that she was so supportive of my condition needs to make the switch and being good with sleeping in our little "mtr home" instead of tenting it as loosing a pair of tenner shoes is/was nothing compared to what could happen if I nodded out at the grips and we took a tumble into one of those Black Hills canyons.. Tweeks and Maggie are confined to local riding only and this works great! While neither of them get the CTFW time in they deserve, I cant imagine being bikeless even if I/we only ride a few times a year.. Maybe a sell off of the high $ steed and dropping back to something less valuable is in your future my friend.. I know when I left Olivia, my 42 HD, at home when we traveled I had night mares of getting broke into and having her gone.. Just to much cash sitting there not getting used.. I loved that bike but it was time.. Fingers getting tired here typing like you and I are sitting in the garage yappin... Will be praying for your health and decision making Don.. Listen to that internal still voice of the Lord and you will be fine brother... Shoulda let me auction off the new Venture at MD LOL
  8. Prayers Up for my brother!! The Lord loves you Bongo and so do we!!
  9. Really true friends are a treasure worth far more then any form of earthly riches.. This saddened my heart to read of the passing of one of your true friends Lewis.. You have my deepest condolences and supportive prayers as you work thru the grieving process of such a great loss.. May your heart be comforted by the love and tenderness of our Creator and you find peace that passes all understanding until that great day when you get to see him again my brother!!
  10. Been playing out west and away from the Keyboard Cha.. So sorry to read this about your father but am SOOOO glad to hear he came thru the surgery in decent shape!! PLEASE tell him that he is on our prayer list now and that Tip and I send our thoughts and love his way!! PRAYERS UP BROTHER!! Puc
  11. Looks like I missed a LOT here!! Prayers Up for @bongobobny and Becky!! Been praying for ya brother and will continue to do so. I got a message in E-Mail from Slyvester about it all,, thats how I knew about this.. A quick stroll along the edge of the Water Hole shows others in need of some knee time too - it is great to be home for a short time but WOWZY do I have some catching up to do!! Our trip went like this: Went to check out the border situation in Elpaso Texas/Sunpark NM - unreal! Up to play with the kids in California where I fixed the grandsons go-cart (Yerf Dog) as its been down for 4 years (bought it at a yard sale and he never got to hear it run but THAT was his main goal of accomplishment before school starts). Turns out that someone (PO) put the carb together wrong and placed the metering rod spring BELOW the metering rod shoulder = wayyyyyy to much gas. Back together and BINGO = running like a top!! Then he broke the spline off the axle on the rear end and the rear wheel came off.. The kid thought the fun was over.. Little grinding/fitting,, some 7018 and borrowing his dads DC Welder,, few smacks with a hunk of redwood to true it (told the kid about truing cranks with a lead hammer and a set of V-Blocks but the end of the axle I just eyeballed for true after tacking it up = worked perfect and held together even after a couple jumps with the thing) and all was well.. Came home through Area 51 looking forward to seeing the 1,000,000 plus people who were suppose to be storming Area 51 (Nellis Air Base) demanding to see the Aliens.. No one there but was told that Sept 20 they will be! Exterestrial Highway is still an AWESOME ride = always impressed with it!! Camped (in Trooper) just inside of Nebraska out of Colorado,, woke up and told Tip it was opening day of the Sturgis Rally.. Headed North. Ended up having to backtrack 40 miles after discovering water over the roads out in the "Sandhill" country of Nebraska! LOT of really GREAT video of vehicles (some brave bikers too) plowing thru it but decided against taking out electric Motorhome thru.. Sturgis was GREAT again. Low on attendance for an opener BUT LOTS of scoots coming in = should be a GOOD one - if you have never done the big rally and have any hopes of doing so = get er done cause LOTS of fellow biker geezers seem to be timing out. Good to be home,, will post pics and vids someday! Puc
  12. ,,, Heyyyy,, Carl,,, ya lop eared Kanuckian Birthday varmint,,, quick question,, are birthdays in Kanuckianville subject to exchange rates or something,, meaning, if you were 40 in the States would you be + or - an exchange rate up there depending on age markets or something?? Just asking cause I know you and I are pretty much the same age but for some reason you seem to lean more in the direction and I seem to fall into the direction... Not trying to :stickpoke:or nothing like that on your birthday but thought I better ask.. You being older and wiser now,, figured maybe you would know:big-grin-emoticon:.. Hope your Birthday was nothing short of AMAZIN: YA LOP EARED NORTHERN NEIGHBOR BROTHER AND FRIEND VARMINT!!!
  13. Sunday morning Prayers Up for my brother Bongo!!
  14. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW, what an amazing testimony to one AMAZING person Bum!! I want you to know that I did not click "like" because I "like" the passing of your friend/brother who passed but did so because of your excellent written testimony about Martin, THANK YOU for sharing that with us. Saddlebum, you and all others who had the honor of calling such a person as Martin "friend" and all of his family as well have my deepest condolences on Martins departure from here below, may he rest in peace. Wish I could have known you Martin as you definitely sound like the type of person who would have been a LOT of fun to hang with and I could have learned much from! Godspeed Martin. Puc P.S. = I don't use the word "hate" much in life but I gotta say, I HATE CANCER!!
  15. HEY RASA = :You_Rock_Emoticon:
  16. I didn't doubt your indepth knowledge at all brother but am still amazed at this = EXCELLENT find there Duey!! It would be interesting to know how many, if any, of our members purchased those shims, installed them and were successful in their intended application use!! WAYYYYY COOL of Mom Yam to take those corrective actions - this also makes me wonder if there a LOT more folks with scoots with strange brake pad wear through the years (+ other applicable happenings like strange noises and other wear points).. Did Mom Yam only produce this tapered shim for the 1st Gens or is this applicable to the 2nd Gens too? THANKS for the followup Duey = YOU DA MAN!!
  17. Maybe the hose section of the clutch hydraulic line has gotten soft with age and as it gets warm it allows for more expansion under pressure.. See part 16 here if I am once again failing in my attempt at articulating info: https://www.yamahapartsnation.com/oemparts/a/yam/5107f83bf870022108d65789/front-master-cylinder-2
  18. Jeff, you, your family and friends have Tip and My sincerest of condolences at the passing of your father. RIP Jeff's Dad, you are sorely missed and the world here below is now -1 of one of it's really great people. Thank you for raising such fine people as your son and I am sure - the same can be said for the rest of your off-spring. Prayers Up brother as you and your family work thru the grieving process - may the love of our Lord surround and keep each of you thru these days and beyond!! Puc and Tip
  19. You are more than welcome Moonshine, glad to help! Hope you are successful in producing the missing bushings and in the end, you and your scoot get to get out and CTFW for miles and miles of smiles and smiles brother!!

WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,, this stuff must also have some kind of high tech space age lubricity to it too cause look what already showed up at my door - talk about SLICK... @Sylvester ,,, unfortunately Sly definitely not enough here to bath in,,, maybe I will try in a direct application under the arms and between my toes and see how it works before I order a 55 gallon drum of it Thanks for the info @saddlebum! YOU DA MAN BROTHER!!
  22. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,, thanks for the Blue Berry pie there RR = toss a scoop of Vanilla on that stuff and DOUBLE WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,, King Solomon himself could not have et better ... Speaking of the grandkids, I gotta daughter who we called our fruitfly = that kid could gobble Blue Berries from that patch like most kids would gobble Halloween candy!! Thinking my grandkids may have inherited some of that love for the Blue too and all are patiently waiting for the geezer Dad/Bahpah to go to slaying them.. I will DEFINITELY now be holding some back from their fruity little fingertips so Tip can produce one of those awesome Pies for our home too!!
  23. Here ya go Ray ( @MoonShine ), hope this helps in some small way brother!! Text from Youtube post: A good friend of mine is working on replacing the rear mono shock on his early model Venture with an aftermarket Progressive Rear Shock. His question to me was whether or not the Progressive mono was suppose to have bushings to fill the gap between the top shock body mount and the mount on the frame. He also mentioned that the I.D. of the upper mount on the shock (its a bearing journal) seemed larger than the OEM mono and that the OEM mounting bolt was to small. He was wondering if I had any experience with the Progressive and would happen to know if he was missing a set of bushings. My initial reply to him was one of that I thought the Progressive did indeed come with bushings that would tighten the gap and also allow for stock mounting bolt usage. Hey Ray, I did find my old Progressive shock and, as shown in the video, got some measurements that you may find useful brother. I also thought this video may or may not be of assistance to anyone else out there in YouTube land and/or one of our other club members at VentureRider.org. Hope this helps someone in some small way! Puc
  24. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,, that coulda been wayyy worse brother - glad your ok!! Hopefully the final tally on the scoot will be nothing more than an oil change with a new filter and then some clean up putting you and your steed right back out there doing what we should all be doing = CTFW!!
  25. I would: Redo the fluid change and take some time with it to insure I did not have moisture build up in the slave as moisture is definitely affected by the increase in heat build up from the slave being mounted to a very hot location. In the process I would also double check the fluid return passage in the bottom of the Master and make sure the Master cap liner was in good shape and functioning as designed. My final bleed of the system would definitely be at the banjo on the master = high spot in the system that has given many much issue! Bum, I had one one time that in desert tempts would do similar to what you are describing. Once hot, the only way I could maintain any form of clutch disengagement was to maintain pressure on the clutch lever - if I did not do this, I would have no clutch (meaning I could not pull the lever and get any form of disengagement). I cured it temporalily on a cross country trip with one of the kids by putting one of my daughters hair ties lightly around the clutch lever to keep it working - worked perfect (much better than reaching for the clutch and having nothing). When we got home I did exactly as described above and BINGO,, problem solved.
