Yea, what DJ said.. :080402gudl_prv: Thanks Breezy!! If you are headed that way anyway and dont mind stoppin.. It appears that the address is 1910 E Cherry St, Jesup, GA 31546 and its at a car dealership called Nesmith Chevrolet.. Anything you could find out would be appreciated!! DONT worry about it if this doesnt work out though, their ebay auction ad leaves alot to be desired!!! Thanks Puc

Thanks Brian, good read!! Just reading that article kinda makes me think of the "old" willies jeep - ww2 type - slow, easy, FUN.. I think it would be a BLAST to take one for the summer and crawl/camp/site see the back road mountain country out west!! Putting the wife in the "flying chair" would be priceless!!!!:rotf: Teaching her to put ME in it would even be better!!:cool10: Cool stuff! Puc

Should be a discount.... :rotf: Of course you only get the discount if you can figure out who the real Yammer Dan really is and THAT is no small task.. :rotf: Way to go Fixit!! Puc

Well, I answered the question of whether or not the reserve lite would go out on first bid,, nope... Oh well, worth a try.. Agreeing totally with you DJ - makes no sense why they wouldnt stick a charger on it or for that matter, a new battery if its gonna make it a running bike.. Would be worth a lot more if it ran and was cleaned up... DJ, if its your sons first bike I would encourage him to spend a little time on a small bike (even a little dirt bike - xr100) just to get the basics to be second nature, than take a good riders course.. My son grew up on dirtbikes, got his endorsement on an old 185 Suzuki trailbike,, he now climbs on my old Yam like nobodys business - big guy though, 6'2'' so the Yam fits him well... Brian - YEA BUDDY, awesome video!! Been watching the Urals for a while!! Hey,, what kinda cruising speed would you say would your Ural be good with for all day road cruising?? Also, what kinda MPG would she see at that speed?? Also, does your ural have an engagement lever for the outer drive - so you dont have to run 2 wheel drive all the time?? I gotta say buddy - that does look like a LOT of my kind of fun!! Thanks Guys!! Puc

This may sound nuts but I really wonder if a big part of our problems aren't found in home life and general parental "caring" about their kids or lack thereof.. Maybe to many people viewing the local school system as a social baby sitting arrangement. Sad any way you look at it.

Thanks for sharing this with us Karl, sure got me thinking.. In the last 2 months I have lost 2 really close friends and you got me thinking.. Both of mine passed away without my getting to say goodbye.. On one hand I envy you cause you are getting the rare opportunity to actually be there with a loved one during the dieing process, and get to say thank you for sharing their life with you.. On the other, TOUGH STUFF! Thank you for your courage and thoughtfulness in honoring your friend by being there for him!! I am sure just your presents and any words spoken comforted him beyond words. My thoughts and prayers for your friend, his family and you Karl!! Puc

If it were mine I would start with the plug caps (as already mentioned), remove caps from plugs and see if there is water in em, if so a shot of carb cleaner and blast em out with compressed air will help dry em - wear glasses.. Another thing I have noticed is the smaller "D" plugs like we use dont take to kindly to being blackened from over choking OR, possibly in your case, having plugs shorted from being wet.. You could have just fouled a plug or two in the process of trying to start it wet.. Might wanna try replacing the plugs in her... I always start with the easy stuff first Puc

Thanks Djh3!! I appreciate the info and especially the "give ya an excuse to escape to Florida" idea, never know, it may come to that this winter!! Lots and lots of bikes out there for sure!! Thanks for posting the info the folks from Georgia sent you, gonna keep a weathered eye on that one... Puc

Hey Mike Always looking for the next "project".. Our 83 is getting worn out, and over the course of the winter I may upgrade if the right one comes along.. I have sucked the life out of 1 - 84 and 4-83's (all under $1000), do ALOT of "trails", backwoods camping and stuff riding beaters and love the option of being able to leave a broken down heap where it broke, or give it away (if I cant fix it).. I would have a hard time giving a broken down $5000 bike to some kid... Seems like more and more people have caught onto the real "value" of the old 1st gens (my butt is molded like the seat of a 1st gen) and the $1000 bikes are getting harder and harder to find, seems like I see more and more of them in the 2, 3 and $4000 range... Thats the main reason that ebay bike caught my eye.. I too tried to contact the seller on ebay (before I posted this thread) with no response.. If anyone here happens to be in that area and wouldnt mind taking a peek THAT WOULD BE GREAT but PLEASE dont make a special trip.. Thanks you guys for all the input... and the ad-Venture continues.. Puc

Exactly!! That would be a MAJOR job,,, be easier to rebuild the old 83....
-
Better be careful with those wise cracks there Dan,,, getting tossed in the slammer is one thing,, getting tossed off VR - now THAT would be horrible :rotf:

Yea I thought the same thing Earl BUT it also starts at 2000, a bid at 2 whether or not the reserve will disappear and could end up with it.... If the motor aint locked up and the reason its not "cranking" is related to the switch or battery,,, you know the routine... THANKS for all the input guys!!!!! Puc

Always looking for that next ride and noticed this on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Royal-Star-2001-yamaha-royal-star-/251394324776?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3a8844f928&item=251394324776&pt=US_motorcycles Of course LOTS of questions came to mind, primarily the statement of it doesnt "crank" and only has a few hundred miles on it... So I browse the pics and noticed in pic 7 (pic of throttle side controls) what appears to be corroding of the aluminum - maybe salt water from flooding?? Wish I were in Jesup Georgia,, might be worth a peak.. Thoughts?

I have gotten simular messages when my wireless modem is acting up, weak signal and all that.. I have also gotten messages like that when I had "noise" on the line servicing the modem (after it rains)..

Back in the 70's a buddy and I got the hair brained idea to join the Air Force and become pilots.. We tested here in Michigan and got invited down to Fort Eglin Air Base in Pensacola for a short "visitation" stay on base.. We drove my 67 Cougar down (wont go into detail about where we "found" gas at along the way but will say that not all the Highway repair trucks sitting along I-75 are gas, some are diesel - YUCK).. Yea the F-14's were impressive BUT, man what those guys had to go thru just to fly measly airplane , way to much "smarts" and discipline for a young Pucster.. BUT,, While down there we found a Benson Copter (remember those things in Popular Mechanics??) at a yard sale and had to have it!!! Put $20 down on it, talked my buddys brother into loaning us the money, went back and STRAPPED 14 ft rotor blades AND the body of our new Helicopter to the top of my Cougar and headed home to Michigan!! Somewhere in Tennessee we stopped to BUY gas, a tall lanky Tennessee feller comes out of the station, spits a chew of teebacky out, looks at us and says,, what in tarrrnation you boys got on your car??? I said - its a helicopter,, he says - what cha gonna do with dat thang,,, Dan says - Fly it... Guy shook his head in a way that my dad had shaken his head at me many times and walked away.. We laughed.. We get home, recover with a couple hours sleep.. A few brewskies for breakfast and we are ready to bolt and fly!! Dans Dad had a huge 120 acre field freshly hayed, hooked the Benson on the car, Dan crawled into the cockpit (I was of superior intelligence),, blades started turning, 1000 feet and up she went - GORGEOUS!! The ad in Popular Mechanics stated "extremely stable, totally safe because of their gliding capabilities, easier to operate than a parachute"..... At about 1500 feet (not altitude) of towing the "bird" tipped and did a nose first landing into the field,,, bending rotors and body at all kinds of weird angles, scrap - luckely Dan was fine.. Those were the days.... Puc

Man I am with you guys,, I sure would like to get my hands around the neck(s) of the person(s) who started this whole spend spend spend idea that is what Christmas has become... Wish we could go back to the "peace on earth and good will to all men" days!! Ouch,, Tippy just smacked me (she loves shoppin),, THANKS ALOT DAN - OL PUCS IN THE DOG HOUSE AGAIN!!!

Hi Bob Just a note to say we are praying for Jack and his family (yourself included).. Please remember that the same forgiveness that leads Jack in salvation covers you and I when we arent paying attention to God when he pricks our hearts.. All we gotta do is ask for it. I also second the thought mentioned in the other thread about talking to him and praying for Jack in his presence,, I too have been told many times that hearing is the last thing to go.. NEVER underestimate the power of prayer my friend!! Gods grace is AMAZING!!!! The Lambs Book Of Life is in His hands - THANKFULLY!!! Scott
