Oh man I wish I could have caught this before you changed your name Money.. I know Yammer Dan and there aint no way you would have infringed.. Yammer Dan doesnt even know who the real Yammer is,,,,,, now that I think about it though,, probably a good thing to change it like you did.. Less chance of getting blamed for something you didnt do.. TO VR!!! See ya on the road! Puc

I was thinking along the lines of GodLover's recent post
cowpuc replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
Glad you (and Godlover) decided to stick around Silver, I agree with what others have said about this site being about wayyy more than what type of bikes we ride!!! Concerning air cooled/oil cooled/water cooled bikes.. In the dirt bike world (made my living spinning wrenches on/selling MX bikes back when the sport was hot) the air cooled bikes had to have looser tolerances than those of water cooled bikes.. The closer tolerances possible with water cooling allowed for the faster/higher revving bikes like the new 4 stroke dirtbikes, the crotch rockets and stuff.. It also allowed them to become very efficient compared to the counterparts.. I have a hunch (my opinion) that one of the main reasons that HD is fooling with water cooling their exhaust valves has more to do with being able to pass emissions (run em leaner/more efficient), get more power out of the displacement.. Personally, it amazes how far technology has taken us in motorcycling, I cannot think of one of the modern day bikes that I wouldnt be proud to own and ride.. The main reason that I love and ride these old Yam V-4's is because of their affordabiliy and that allowes me to ride more.. If I could afford it I would be like Jay Leno and have one of everything,, including a Victory Vision Then I would ride a different bike everyday, camping all across the country, going from rally to rally playing with all my good friends and family found on here CAUSE for me,,, THAT is what its all about!!! -
Brother I KNOW the feeling!!! I blame it all on the longgggggggggggggg winter we just went thru.. Now we gotta all get saddle broke all over again.. Best wishes with your DR.'s appointment Oldgoat!! If something works,, please let me know!!!

Just dawned on me,, this thread has a phenomenal reverse psychological spin to it,, let me explain (you dont have to let me,, I gonna anyway - you will understand why I can now be free to do so in after you read this)... We have this thread going that consist of one of us being a "winner" by saying something we are not suppose to be able to say and therebye getting the thread closed by a moderator.. One person wins, that makes the rest of us losers.. Now if I were a moderator I wouldnt want to choose 1 person to be a winner and thereby leaving 99.999 percent of our membership mad at me for not choosing to close the thread on them and thereby making them the winner instead of the guy who won,, in fact,, my choosing the one who won would actually be selecting 99.999 percent of our membership losers. I think thats why this thread hasnt been closed yet... Hey DragonSlayer,, you may not be the greatest thread killer BUT you are the first person in VR history who has,, be it by serendipity - or by sheer advanced intelligence, the first person to figure out a way to get around all applicable VR rules/regulations concerning what/can and cannot be discussed on the board and have singlehandley created a thread wherein we can now discuss anything and everything we want without the thread being closed.. You are amazing Dragonslayer!! Oh yea,,, BUMP Ps, you mentioned me running for President in a past thread,, au contraire monsieur,, YOU should be our next Secretary of State!!! Let er buck guys,, its party time!!!
-
Mr. Moderators,, please see my thread posted before Syscrushers and close this thread.. Thank you for being kind.. Puc

Prayers Up,, BLESSING DOWN!!! Nite Neverland.. -
Their all doing their derndest to be the last person to post something and get the thread closed,, who ever succeeds earns the title of Master Thread Killer and wins the championship... Personally I take great offense to people talking about my dear President Obama like that.. My heart is hurt and so are my feelings.. I think this thread should be closed before more people like me are injured by this discussion.. I strongly urge one of the moderators to step in and kill this thread.. Please do so before any more posting are allowed.. Thank you for being respectful to my feelings.. Sincerely Puc

That number 17 buttocks looks like a picture I saw a long time ago of something sticking up out of a pond somewhere,,, I think it may have been at one of Freebirds MD's..... Could of been a nightmare I had,, but I dont think so... It's not that I dont believe what you are saying Jeff,, its just that,, concerning the subject matter,, I am really really tired of it being true!!!

Hi Jonathan,, WELCOME!! Ditto on above except if its a 1st Gen (have no idea on the 2nd Gens - never worked on one).. On a 1st Genny the filter is on the front below the Radiator,, its not a spin off filter, its inside of a canister,, kinda old school but works great.. Puc

Yea,, some folks really take loosing their way of life very seriously... If ol Crazy Horse or Sitting Bull would have been in charge of North America when 9/11 happened they would probably would have started at one side of Afganistan and went to the other... :stickpoke:

Got one of my own Dan O',, got one of my own.... Few years ago I pull in from a longgggg day on the road out buyin,, had a 41 Indian Chief BASKET case,, and I mean BASKET CASE,, stacked on the trailer and stuffed in the car.. Hunks of frame hangin here,, rims and tires tied on there... My warden says,, what cha gonna do with pile a junk,, I says,, dat aint no pile of junk - THAT is a 41 Indian!! What did ya pay for it she says,, $1800 bucks says I,, turned a little green she did, (always lived by the "easier to ask forgiveness than permission,, she has put up with a LOT) calmed down later when she was helping count the 10 grand I got out of it with doing no more than hauling it home.. Good Wardens are hard to find and that Tippy,, SHE is a GOOD warden!!! My kind of dude (a little nuckin' futs). Hang in there Shmily,, FLyinfool is almost out of ammo and summer is almost here!! Looking forward to many longgg distance rides this year and I/we have plans of meeting a whole bunch of new folks this year (gotta be new ones cause most folks that have met me RUN - I blame that on the ratty old bikes I ride) - really good chance that you will be one of them cause I look forward to meeting you too!!!! I included a pic of our bike below,, by the looks of things I will be combining this "junk" 87 into our rider to bring it more life so the pic below is what to look for,,, if you happen to see it with a flat tire on the highway,, or us pushing it to a gas station, or people out in sturgis running from it, or it parked in a Cemetary with a tent beside it, or upside down out in the middle of nowhere PLEASE feel free to stop and say HOWDY!!!!!!!! We don't do plain old rallys...... http://venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/sign%20Rock%20On.gif!!!!!!! Ya know,,, now that I reread Shmiley's comment I have a hunch he may have been referring to eating when he said "nuckin futs",, arent those sumthin ya put on ????? :rotf::rotf::rotf: -
Actually B2MOM,,, I consider it more of a blessing and the result of a TON of hard work.. Been in the business for many many years and know a lot of people, spend an enormous amount of time doing the leg work, finding em, chasing em down (and they dont always pan out), repairing/restoring and then dealing with resale... The only bikes that I claim as non-inventory are my rider Venture, and a couple keeper bikes - my first bike as a child and the kids first bikes.. When my kids were little,, we would be going down the road in our van,, I'd step on the brakes and they would all start screaming - no Daddy not now,, I'd say - quite down you guys - you wanna eat tommorrow dont cha,,, stop the car, walk up, come home with a bike strapped on the back of the van.... Never got rich dollar wise (self employment doesnt always create big bucks and its 24/7) but we survived... But,, like I was saying at the beginning,, I am blessed cause I have gotten to do what I absolutely love doing and have been able to provide for my family by doing it - what a life,,, blessed,, truly blessed.. THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENT ON THE COLOR - I LIKE IT TOO!!! Puc

Hi Turtle IMHO,, if it were mine I would start with the motor before you even think anything else,, only cause if the motor/tranny aint decent aint no since (unless you have some attachment to the bike) to go on.. Check the air box for mice nests, pull the plugs.. will it roll over and can you rock it thru all the gears? If so, in neutral stick a battery on it and check compression (either make sure your kill switch is off when you spin it with starter OR ground each plug),, if you get above 120 pounds it should run,, are all jugs matching on compression tester.. If so good!! Spin again and check plugs for spark.. As I recall the 79's were CDI so no points cleaning possible if no spark.. Yank the carbs and clean em. This is VERY important in my experience,, you are gonna have to pre lube the cam assemblies BEFORE ya fire it up,, I know for a fact the 1100 Yam's are steel cam's in aluminum journals,, fire it up on non prelubed cams and it only takes a second of running to smudge the journals.. You will have to remove the rocker covers to do it.. Take the covers off, squirt oil on the cam assembly (you will probably find small counter sunk holes in the top of each upper journal and on the rockers, make sure you cover em good as you spin the motor,, can be messy but must be done!! Back together,, put the carbs on an IV bottle so you know ya got good gas going to em, put a teaspoon of raw gas in each jug, plugs in, hit the starter and you will instantly find out whether or not ya got a good one!!!!!!!!! Just some thoughts,, hope it helps somehow.. By the way,, those XS's were a FUN, reliable bike!!! Good find!! Puc
