Yea,, I know Bobby,,, and its less than 3 hours from me,,, sure had me scratching my bald head... Did you guys noticed that it has some kind of an electric shift mechanism... Wonder what thats all about,, must be a solenoid set up somehow... That could be a very special deal for just the right person.. Pretty cool really... -
I am with Dan on this one and what a tangled up mess of spagetti that map inside my pea brain is!! Never cared much for maps and I dont own a gps (always thought that meant - Go Park Somewhere and get out of the way, I am ridin)... Befitting to this subject is one of my little bikin games I have played with both my kids and with Tippy.. You pull up to a corner out in the middle of Utah or South Dakota or Arizona,, passenger flips the coin - tails left, heads right... Done it for years, seen spectacular sites and met people I would have never experienced without the "game"... Problem is,, I have no idea exactly where those sites are... I do think what Dale brings to this thread is a marvelous idea,, big map posted with color coded lines all over it (coded to yearly travels) would be really cool.. On the other hand, I am afraid that mine would like more of an admission of insanity than a thing of beauty so its probably not for me:rotf::rotf:

Hey Midnight,, I LOVE doing what you did!! Take a couple minutes of our time to chat with others while out riding.. It has always amazed me when out touring, if ya just take a couple minutes and chit chat, how many of these bikes ya find out there with lots of miles on em.. I remember a few years ago when the old 350 Honda's, 650 Yams, HD's, Beezers and Triumps were flat tired (or scraped) at 25k.. Now adays its almost like 20/30 thousand our bikes are just starting to run good after a good break in period....

What great pathway to an affordable trike... Just noticed this one down in Indiana... Be a fun build for the right VR gear head... http://southbend.craigslist.org/mcy/4420349404.html

BEAUTIFUL JONAS,, JUST FLAT OUT BEAUTIFUL!!!! I ran into a situation like that once with an old beat up Cushman Scooter that the guy didnt like the original junction box so he redid everything using an Allen Bradley commercial 3 phase disconnect box,, had lots of room for terminating wiring but looked no where near as nice as your job did!! NICE JOB!!

Oh believe me,, my left foot/leg learned everything it needed to know about ballet as I danced around on it while holding my right foot between my hands,,, shoulda recorded it,, probably could have won America's Funniest People AND Dancing With The Stars all in one painful moment....
-
Hmmmm,, thats good Kirby.. Ya know,, the first thing that popped into my mind was that I had finally figured out why the Japanese wrap their feet tightly to keep them small,, all that motorcycle crushin big feet going on...

Hmmm,, wonder whats gonna happen to the current WHY NOT department that no one knew why about either,,, why is my wallet all of sudden squirming in my pocket..
-
Dont know about all you other folks but I get all geeky just thinking about this coming summers riding adventures... My mind (whats left of it after participating all winter in threads like "WHY") tends to wonder pretty easily,, my focus is allll screwed up.. Did you know that if you have a 1st Genny up on her center stand and you sit on the seat and rock it forward to take it down off the stand AND you wear size 11 tenny shoes and that the distance between the front foot peg and the ground is far less than 11 inches when the bike compresses its suspention upon removal of the center stand that 11 inches of human foot will NOT stop the bikes suspention from being compressed.. Also did you know that big toe toe nails are no where near strong enough to support the compression of the foot as its being compressed between the peg and the concrete either.. Good thing Tippy keeps an ample supply of medical devices around the house,, my big toe sure thanks her for this flat bottom medical shoe she pulled out of her supply!!! Good thing it was the right foot,, dont use the rear brake much anyway,, now if it were my left foot and I would have to shift my bike with my hand I would be upset..

Probably figured since you've successfully been riding a 1st Genny all this time a 2nd Genny being ridden by you should an assured no claims! Prayers Up, Blessings Down,, nite Neverland.. -
Cause it has Fleas,, ya gotta pay better attention here Dan,,, quoting the great "Rhode Island Red" - "pay attention when I'm talkin to ya son,, boys got the attention span of an anvil".. No idea why on earth ya didnt ride Sugar though,,, aint no free ridin flea can hang on to a 1st genny!! WRITTEN BY PUC, FOR AUSSIE ANNIE,, YOU ASKED FOR IT!! SUNG TO THE TUNE OF "HELP ME MAKE IT THRU THE NIGHT" Verse: Why cant we all just get along,, why do we always act this way, why is something always wrong,,,, friendships never seem stay..... Chorus: Is it something that I ate,, maybe shower that I need,, maybe the color of my bike,, but its such a trusty steed... Verse: Some of my friends are dead and gone,,, others fight for no real cause, ,, I am so glad I made this song,,, for my buddies down on Ozzzz:rotf:

Why,,,,,,,, yes Bongo,,,, you would be the first one that the Professor would have brought into question in regard to psychological understanding...

The variety of perception that we possess here on VR is amazing.. I could have formulated a Master's Thesis on a psychological study on just those 4 responses.. :rotf::rotf:

Hi Rick Its very possible, especially if your new to these bikes, that you are hearing the notorious Venture whine.. If its happening in lower R's and then goes away as you run up the R's in all the gears thats probably what your hearing.. Take a look a pic below, thats a bike with well over 200,000. It is my 5th one of these old Ventures that I have taken to over 200k, THEY ARE VERY WORTHY BIKES!! I can hear your bike SCREAMING at you to go chase down that adventure you are talking about.. If it were mine (I have one screaming at me too) I would check some of the following before I headed out.. Put a good battery in it. Look closely at the fuse panel mounted above the battery, make sure that things in there look clean and in good condition.. Bike on center stand, check brake pads for wear, engage the rear brake - release and spin rear tire to make sure its not dragging. Do same on front end. Do air pressures, check tires!! Drop in a new set of plugs. Get a carb sync done. As already mentioned, change oils.. Dont forget to check brake/clutch res's.. Look closely at changing out at least the clutch master fluid.. That fluid tends to take a beating.. Look closely under the carbs for cracking in vacuum lines/hoses.. Check water cooling hoses for same.. Check front fork seals and for sag,, if its sagging,, progressives springs work wonders.. Adjust the bars so they fit YOU.. Apply for xtra vacation time, take along some xtra cash cause once set up that Venture aint gonna be happy about just one trip from Idaho to New York... Have fun out there,, maybe we will cross paths this year!! Puc

Glad you decided to stay Godlover. I hope/pray that God leading you on that decision becomes one that you actually find this place as an encouragement in your ministry.. Puc
