Another long day comes to an end,, Prayers Up,, Blessings Down.. Praying for you too now YammerDan!! Puc -
This thing is absolutely amazing!! Actually,, the story behind this old Military Harley is even more amazing than the bike itself.. Tippy and I are both beat tired from a long hard day on the road again so if I write like I am groggy I apologize,, I am soooo geeked right now there is no way I can sleep so I thought I would get this thread started... This is another estate bike from today.. The previous owner passed away at 90 years old last year.. He was a Veteran of WW2, had something to do with the flying B-29's (I think that what his son said - again,, longggg day) in the European Theater, I think it was 43 till wars end.. This was his baby that he loved, took care of, rode many miles on.. Its in all its original glory (except for having been painted at least twice by the sons father).. Its a 1942 WLA 45", still in 6 volt electrical, stock tank shift and foot clutch,,,, I cant hardly type this I am still so shocked that the day went like it did.. Someone on here may recognize the numbering on the front fender,, this represents who the gentleman served with during his time in Europe.. The son (exectutor of the estate) who I aquired the bike, like his Dad, is also a Veteran and he served in Vietnam. He and his wife are the nicest people a person could ever meet.. George (son) shared some of the most heart wrenching stories imaginable about his time in Southeast Asia.. George is sending me a "history" of his Dad, the bike with pictures (and hopefully some video).. Incredible,, just flat incredible day.. It was an HONOR to meet these people and an HONOR to aquire this old war machine.. We got home really late and these shots are the best I could do.. I will post more up in the near future and update the info when I receive it... Tell ya what guys,, I cried in Georges garage while listening to tales of his dad and his bike... What an honor.. On the way home, Tippy commented that she had never seen me like this around any other bike I have ever owned... I told her that this particular bike, because of its service to our country in Europe and Georges Dads service connected with it just seemed to give it soul like I have never known.. I said,, ya know honey,,, I feel like no one can really "own" a machine like this,, its true owners are found in the hearts of the men and women who served in that God awful mess.. In tears, Tippy said,,,, yea,, I get that... WOW,, what a day... Puc

Larry,, that is AWESOME!!! Very very well do my man!!! I am glad you stuck this thread up if nothing more than a reminder of how easily it is to damage cases with the heavy bikes.. I wanna add something,, for any of our friends riding a KAWASAKI VOYAGER 2.. I repaired one a couple years ago that this exact thing happened to.. Only on the Kawi, its not the drain plug that snags, its the bolt that holds the oil filter lid in place (located center engine under bike on the Kaw).. This bolt actually services the oil pump and the oil pump is case mounted on a bracket between the forward bevel gears and the tranny.. When contact is made with the bolt head, like Larrys drain plug, the damage can be catastrophic!! Also, on the Voyager, this bolt head is the lowest part of the bike... Please dont get this advice wrong,, I LOVE the Voyagers but what Larry has done with this skid plate idea should be standard equipment on that Kawi.. Hmmmmmm,, how much for a full skid plate for a beat up ol 1st Genner named Tweeks Larry? I would like to cover pipes and all.....

OUCH!!!!!! Sooooo flippin sorry to hear about that Dan,, OUCH!! I should have NEVER posted that recent post about my foot injury,,, I should have KNOWN you would have taken that as a competition to see if you could do better,, worse,, whatever.. You hound dog Yammer... I am SPEECHLESS at how much your right foot looks like mine right now.. The left foot and back injurys put you well into the winners circle though, yep, you win,,,, OUCH!! Oh well,,, hopefully the two of us have our "summer crash" over with now and the rest of the season is nothing but pure, clean, open road fun.. Brother,, I feel your pain,, OUCH.... Tippy changed my dressings twice today.... Dag nabbit Dan... Get out the Epsoms Salt and heal fast my friend!! Oh yea,, about that "wouldnt have happened on a 1st Gen" thingy,, I have crashed on everything from CR500's, KX500's, 250 Elsinores, Yamaha Enduro's, Harley Low Riders, Honda Choppers, Harley Choppers, Honda Wings, Mopeds, Minibikes, 4 wheelers, three wheelers and yea,, even 1st Gens.. I got a hunch that its just part of this thing we call motorcyclin.... Dont be to hard on that gorgeous new bike brotha Man that looks painful,, ouch...... Puc

Ok,, another step in this journey that someone here may be able to help with.. Has anyone owned or had any exposure to this particular trike build.. If I do this I would HATE to build up something that is gonna cause grief for someone who has already been thru enough grief.. I spoke with the guy selling it and he believes it is a straight axle model.. I have not been around trikes at all and know NOTHING of which is quality and which is not.. I do know, from business experience, that I do not want to get involved with any of the present "Chinese" differential stuff but I have a hunch that with this ones age it is probably clear of that.. Bongo mentioned that the company is now defunct.. Any thoughts on if the guy we are doing this for does need rear end parts in the future are they accessible... Any input is appreciated!! Thanks in advance Puc -

Well,, heres the way its shaking out Bongo.. I spoke with the guy who is selling the bike yesterday. I got the full story of the bikes background, it belonged to an employee of his who is terminally ill. She was disabled and rode the bike with pride, it was her baby.. Been setting for a few years and now has clutch issues and of course, IMHO, will need at least a carb cleaning.. He is suppose to be sending me more pics of the entire bike.. Apparently the build was built by a company out of Washington, he is suppose to get me that info too.. I have a friend who has a disabled vet buddy who hasnt ridden in years because of his disabilitys.. I mentioned this bike to my buddy with the thought of buying it and bringing it back to life for his disabled buddy and he was all about it.. I dont have the means to haul it, Larry (my buddy) has volunteered his time/truck/trailer and to cover the hauling expenses to bring it home.. Its my busy season right now (sold 3 bikes over the weekend, 2 HD's going to England and a Honda SL350 - today I am suppose to be handling the paperwork on this 1970 HD cop bike - its going to LA).. After the smoke clears a little here, probably tomorrow sometime, Larry and I intend to make the trip down to New Buffalo to look at the trike.. Bongo, if it appears more of a project than I/we want to get involved in for his disabled buddy, and its not in really bad shape,, I will drag it home and let you know and give you first dibs on it!! Storage is no problem, it can set here all summer.. Gonna be an interesting week here... Puc -
