and we say its not,,, obviously we have a MAJOR difference in opinion here... If I were you Oldbutnew, I would listen carefully to what the folks above are saying.... I cant believe they did that :no-no-no:

Tension fills room,, Puc grits his teeth and snears over his shoulder at Bongo,, Bongo snears back - tapping his auction paddle on his knee while he attempts to stare down his one time friend... Normal, sane people would never let something like an auction come between a friendship like Bongo and Puc once had but no one ever said these two pranksters are actually sane... The highly skilled auctioneer and organizer of this auction,, a cocky feller only known by the name of DGM,, has obviously worked many many crowds in his life.. His eyes shift (shifty eyes seem to come naturally for this genius of man) across his top bidders at this time as he continues to work the other thousands of innocent bystanders, gathered around the main ring to watch the specticle unfold, with his shrewd body language aquired from his years of experience in prodding people... A meek little voice breaks out among the chaos,, the place goes dead quiet to hear what some quiet spoken, obviously deeply sincere, lady has to say.. The two top bidders of the moment actually break their locked eyes filled with competitive vibes for a moment and they join the rest of the attendees who are looking at the young lady,, focusing on what she has to say... Even the auctioneer,, who normally trys to maintain full control of his auction, relaxes his composure to hear the meek voice speak... The women begins to remind the crowd of the importance of this particular auction.. Her gentle motherly voice speaks of an institution that helps children who are fighting for their lives.. The auction ring gets so quite you could hear the fuel pump contact points on a 1st Gen Yamaha Venture clicking out in the parking lot from 1200 feet away.. Eyes start tearing up as she speaks of the great need for research dollars and funding for care for those tiny tots in need... Apparently, this woman, her husband and many many other fine individuals have been assisting in the apparatus of fund raising for the St. Judes organization for many years cause she seems to be very well versed in their operation.. Her trust in St. Judes Hospital is obvious and that trust, and her method of sharing that trust and her concerns for the children has a profound effect on the crowd she is addressing... Is it possible that her tender voice and the message she just delivered has enough impact on the crowd to actually incite reaction at a heart level,,, time will tell as we draw closer and closer to the final day of the auction and the KING/QUEEN of the THREAD KILLERS is finally given his/her rightful crown.. Oh yea,, back to our dueling high bidders... Puc stares deep into Bongo's eyes,, looking deeply beyond his opponents returning stare he watches Bongo's facial expressions for any form of weekness,, suddenly he notices a twitch of weekness as the hair on Bongo's eyebrows lightly twitch,, the chiding in the background of the auctioneers cry,,, 20 20 20, eay do I hear 50 50 50 (impatient sucker that DGM),, Puc glares into Bongo's eyes,, slowly raises his paddle,,, gives the auctioneer the 30 dollar bid sign,, and

That ad looks very simular to ads I have seen a lot of this last winter on Craigs.. I have flagged hundreds of them!! Falling back on the old saying of "if it sounds to good to be true - watch out" I did just a little research into why they give a phone number to call on a scam deal.. I read somewhere that the new scam is done by being billed somehow on your phone bill just by calling a certain number.. I hope that isnt the case with this one.. Ya just cant be to careful with these scammers now adays...

Oh man,,, that D.G.M,,, he is AMAZING!!!!!! Puc opens the bid $10 bucks..........

That being said,,, my moneys on your insurance company will total it, buy back may be in the 2000 - 2500 dollar range.. If it were me,, knowing that in the end your gonna end up with a "Salvaged" titled bike with a fair amount of work and cash in it to put her back together I would probably let it go and buy another one... On the same token,, if they offered it back for a grand or so (highly doubtful) than I would keep it...

Shotgun,, sorry bout your accident bro!! Glad your basically ok - keep tabs on your other "residual" injuries for insurance purposes.. Things like cracked teeth and back injuries a lot of times dont show up for a while.. Speaking of insurance, were you carrying full coverage on the bike and if so, what does the insurance company say about it? Did they total it and are you considering a buy back from them? In picture number 3 in the upper right hand corner it looks like possibly a bent or dented frame? I see what appears to be paint missing in a particular spot... Other than that area it looks like your crash bars took the brunt of the damage - I would look in the area where the those bars mount for frame damage.. If that looks ok, I would than proceed with putting as little into it to get it so I could run it down the road.. I have checked many many "salvage" bikes by doing this BEFORE putting time and effort into a restore: Find a nice straight piece of pavement to ride on. Have a friend take the bike and ride a few hundred feet away from you. RUn it thru the gears n make sure the tranny is ok. Lay down on the pavement and have them ride back directly at you. Look carefully down the alignment of the front and rear tires.. If the triple trees, forks, frame yoke and swing arm are in correct alignment the sides of the front and rear tires should square up while the bike is rolling toward you.. If one or all are wacked you will see it in tire alignment front to rear.. Now hold the front brake and move the forks in and out in the bottom sliders, check for stickshen in your forks,, If you feel stickshen you are probably in for at least new tubes.. If all checks out well, I think Black Wing is pretty close in his cost estimate.. Check on here and on Ebay for parts - you will save a BUNDLE in costs.. I also know of LOTS of bike yards across the country who deal in salvage parts - most, if not all of them are "half of new" in their pricing.. Looks like you ripped the seat?? Gotta hunch that the seat is gonna be the most expensive piece to replace if its an aftermarket one... Best wishes in your physical recovery and in fixing your bike!!! Oh yea,, I have seen LOTS of salvage bikes running around with badly bent frames,, some folks will risk it - some wont.. If yours is bent you are the only one who can decide whether or not you wanna go there.. It does change the "feel" of the bike (of course),, never really cared for riding one in that condition cause it majorly affects going no handed.. On another note, I just watched a Salvage Yard over in Wisconsin sell one simular to yours, had glass damage but no "hard damage", runable/rideable BUT with salvage title, Ebayed out for just under 2 grand... Just something else for you to consider.. Puc

Gonna nickname Bongo - BINGO... The guy thinks just like me (might be time for a cat scan there Bingo).. Unless its cold rain, I really dont mind riding in the rain as long as I can keep my speed up.. I tend to actually run a little faster in the rain if possible.. Keep the rain in the air foil, looking over the top of the shield and let er buck.. On the same token though,, get caught in traffic or town driving,, I start looking for an overhang or a bridge to slide in under. One time headed up 15 from Vegas, headed up to go two track exploring in the gorgeous Nehi Utah foothills the sky opened up.. Flying by cars tucked in stayin dry,, stopped for a burger bout an hour later... Some folks come over checkin out the bikes,, ladies comes up and says,, "I told my husband when you guys went cruisin by us,, Da%%,, if they ride that fast in the rain I wonder how fast they ride when its nice out":rotf:

Late last night Tippy and I had to run look at another Shovelhead,, the markets been strong on the resale of them this year (this would have been our 11th one this winter) so when the guy called we ran.. Bike didnt work out (had major issues), came home, looked in the mailbox and there was a box in there... Got in the house,, thinking it was probably a Birthday gift from one of the kids (yep,, still playing pranks on their OLD man) I gazed at the label.. NOPE,, wasnt from them,,,, it was from the people who I aquired the WLA War Bike from... I suspiciously looked at Tippy and said,, "Tippy,, did you tell those folks I had a Birthday coming up" (she can be tricky like that,,, fine lady but always pullin the wool over my eyes)? No she says,, hmmm says I.. Opened the package and about FELL TO THE GROUND!!! There inside was a BEAUTIFUL pair of Georges Fathers flight goggles that he wore in WW2!!! I balled,, I couldnt believe it!! Along with them was a beautifully written note of how much they appreciated us and thought that if anyone would appreciate the old goggles I would.. Of course, I immediately went about sending them an email (while I was doing that, Tippy was ratting me out on here about my birthday) thanking them and also letting them know of their impeccable timing for getting the goggles here - totally one UNBELIEVABLE Birthday!! On a side note,, back when we were leaving Georges house with the bike,, we had gotten about 1/2 mile from their home and George called my cell phone to let me know I had left my glasses there... I told him my glasses were freebie reading glasses from Menards - 3 power - he could keep em or toss em,, got dozens of em.. Then I told him,,, now if that were a pair of your Dads old WW2 Goggles it would be a different story,, for those I would ride my bike all the from Sacramento California to get,,,,,,,, guess my new friend took me seriously and wanted to save me 3 days of riding :rotf:

My experience with Craigs is that if you are instantly inundated with phone calls and you have a buyers coming right over you might be to low.. The other side of that coin is the good old Craigs game, post it lots of interest - everybody wants it but no one shows or ya get the scammers.... Its give and take... Around here,, and Muskegon Mi is a hurting area,, if you can get within a thou or two of low Nada retail your fortunate,, just aint a lot of disposable income around.. Kinda follows housing,, you can now by a house that was 300k 14 years ago in the 120's...
