  1. Was this what was considered the "Baby Bird",,, man I always loved those cars....
  2. You betcha,, if it was a 4 speed it counts double!! If it was retuned so it could breath (cammed and carbed) it counts triple!!!
  3. Count on it VentureFar,, count on it!!!! :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: Tooch,,, now you reminded me of one I hadnt thought of in years... Back in the early 70's I worked for a company who manufactured pneumatic tools in their maintenance dept.. One of my buds there almost knocked one of my Oxy/Acetylene tanks over and I yelped at him,, he's like - whaaaatt, its just oxygen,, whats the big deal.. I said Oxy under a LOT of pressure,, besides combine oxy with acetylene and this stuff will blow like you cant imagine.. Lunch time came around, he wondered back in the shop and I said, come here,, I wanna show you something.. Took a condom out of my wallet (he stared at me really funny), put it over a torch, hit a good mix on the torch, blew that baby up till it was about 5 feet long (stop laughing VentureFar), tied it off, took it outside (working third shift so this was like 3 a.m.), took a few feet of masking tape, taped the condom to the wall under the lunch room area, left a few feet of masking tape hanging down, lit the masking tape "fuse" and ran back inside...... Stood by the lunch room door as the people were leaving thinking they were under attack,, walked in the lunch room - finished off eating a few vacated burgers,, looked at my unbelieving buddy and said - "now ya know".....
  4. WOW,, first we heard of this 86er,, glad your ok and NOT involved!! Prayers up for all those who were! Puc
  5. Personally I like the idea of making what ever we bid a donation,, what a great cause... We could have a Master Thread Killers badge (something that shows up under their avatar) /trophy for whoever wins the actual high bid and then another simular Badge that would read something like "Member - Thread Killers Association" for all who participated in the bidding and followed thru with their donations... If it hasnt been done already, it might not be a bad idea to have a moderator close that other thread I started... Course,, if they do it means I am the Master Thread Killer right :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: How's that for playing Hard Ball Dragonslayer :rotf::rotf:
  6. Boy I dont know brother,, takin a second look at some of those critters,,, got me kinda skeerd:rotf: :rotf::rotf::rotf: You sure they aint gonna get ticked off cause I ride a Yamaha??

    Saltspring

:rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: Sure sounds like you had a LOT more fun than I been having today,,,,,, watched the ol guy rip all the brakes off his Venture.. Watch em have to drive the front pins out with a punch - probably corroded in from running his bike on the Bonneville salt flats,, watch him fight for 3 hours cleaning brake pistons so they dont stick anymore after sitting all winter,,, watch him clean all the road grime out of the calipers,, watch him bleed em all down with fresh fluid,, watch him try to see thru his reading glasses to get those little keeper clips back in to all three sets but NOW,, WOW - watch em stop!!!!!
  8. Just be careful,, these suckers are heavy and brother,, when they start to go they usually finish the job..
  9. No body that I know,,, YET!!!
  10. DragonSlayer,,,, ummmm,, either I miss spoke myself in my response to Gary or you misunderstood my intent.. Had nothing to do with playing a "humble card" and never really liked Hard Ball,, I rode motorcycles instead ... I just wanted Gary to know that I would rather see a couple more bucks go to St. Judes than have any form of special personal recogition,, give it to help the kids!!! On the same token, I commend you for all you have personally done in helping the St. Judes program!! Also,, that Pay It Forward idea is AWESOME - thanks for your doings there DragonSlayer To answer your questions: Tippy and I did get a shirt each last year at Vogel,, we do wear em when we ride and have had people comment about em - gives me a chance to tell them about the experience we had at Vogel last year and BRAG about what folks like you, B2Mom n Dad, DragonRider, Wingman, Dokon (and all those better halfs) and many others are doing for such a great cause.. Thats the only St. Judes shirt I have.. And nope,,, I didnt give blood today (almost though cause I just about got ran over a few minutes ago on the WLA cause I got caught in a huge downpour and people in cagers went blind)... Anyway,,, hope this helps get this whole St. Judes Auction thingy you started back on track!! Where the heck is high bid any way:confused24: Puc
  11. While being a note worthy idea Gary and I THANK YOU for it, I would prefer that any amount of time, effort, money and thought that someone is going to put forth into doing such a thing on my personal behalf be deferred into a donation being made to St. Judes.. I would rather have someone just get a St. Judes shirt from DragonRider, make a donation thru B2Mom or just stick a dollar in the mail directly to St. Judes (just occurred to me, if every member of our site did that just think of what it would mean to those kids,, hmmmmmmm) and forget any special recognition on my behalf!! As for me, just being associated with rascals like yourself and all my other family on here is good enough!! Getting to pick on the likes of YammerDan and pray for Skid, lockin horns with Bongobob, seeing the painting on B2Dads trike, watching Annie smile while riding her HD n givin me a sticker from OZ, having Freebird help out like he has, sitting and chatting with Sandman, getting snowed in by the Fool, being offered a great deal on a 1st Gen by - I wont say, making QuickStep laugh so hard he couldnt help but post a :rotf:over a comment I made - he never posts - I was HONORED, watchin Fozzie Bear explode into a frenzy, having Dana insist on us camping on their site, having access to Ventureous's tranny knowledge, makin friends with Ben, being invited to ride with the Dalles Boys by Lone Eagle, having Venturefar make an extra name tag for Tweeks, having CMCoffee and BikerJohn invite me to camp and tell stories with em, having folks I dont even know contact me and tell me I can camp in their yard on my cross country madness anytime I want, having access to all the great ride stories others have written and having people tell me how much they enjoy my own, having folks like "Buddy" and "OldGoat" constantly click the "thank you" icon on posts I have made - didnt think I noticed that did ya guys, listening to Barrycuda's stories, standing shoulder to shoulder with my like named friend "Cowboy", getting to make all the new friends again this year,, the list goes on and on and on and on,, is truly all the recogition I can stand:rotf::rotf: As far as the other questions,, that DGM is gonna hafta answer those,,, he's the organizer,, I'm the Thanks for the compliment Gary!! Puc
  12. Hazard,, Hazard,, where have I heard that name before,,, werent the Duke Boys from Hazard?? Any kind of statues or anything memorializing them??? Randy,, glad you and Linda got a chance to get some good riding in!! Sounds like you are really enjoying your bike set up like it is - good on ya bro!! We are still waiting patiently for decent weather here,, been a few days where its been near 60 in lower Mi but not so much here along the lake.. Soon padnah,,, very soon!!:cool10: Puc
  13. Way cool Murph!! Glad you were able to avoid all the nasty weather down there that we have been hearing about and got home safe.. Tippy and I are plannin on doing SouthWest Texas on our way out to the Dalles rally this year,, maybe those Blue Bonnets will be going at it while we are out there,, if so I will snap some pics for ya!! Puc
  14. Just makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time this kind of stuff.. Terrible situation.. I agree with Randy,, sure sounds suspitiously like another one of those texting/talking on the phone deals.. Seems like theres more and more drivers who are willing to risk others lives over a phone conversation,,, drives me crazy..... Not saying this is what happened here but,, just sayin

    AR tornados..

Wow you guys,,,, this is terrible.. Hopes and prayers for everyone involved!! Puc
  16. Wow!!! Thanks Shorty for opening another can of memories for me!!! I too have always LOVED Cushmans.. I can also relate to your feelings about stopping the riding of the motorcycles.. After just shy of 40 years of Motocrossing/Harescrambling/Enduro riding, Cross Country single tracking, Ice Racing, and just flat LOVING dirtbikes I had to give them up on a promise I made.. My Neuro Surgeon made me promise I would if he put my back back together after a bad car accident.. He fixed my back, I am able to walk again and, Like you, though very difficult, I have kept that promise!! Shifting gears like you have done is not easy and I commend you for it!! Here are a couple pics of a Cushman look alike I finished up a few years ago.. Although it didnt have the little "lift and kick" kicker or a tank shift or make the really cool grumbly sound (thats how I described them as a kid) as the real deal, thing came out cool and was a blast to ride!!! The Cushman world is HUGE, highly collectable and a LOT of fun.. Not cheap though,, I have seen em go for a lot more than some very nice modern day touring bikes!!! About a motor,, I too have used Harbor Freight stuff, Vanguard twins are cool too.. I personally have always wanted to play with a little Diesel tied to a seperate tranny on a Cushman platform (some pretty neat lil diesel motors that ran generators in semi's - wink wink)... Good luck in your endeavor how ever you decide to approach it!!! Puc
  17. By the way Hd,, I kept seeing a 1st Gen listed on Ebay with 10k miles on it,, I think it was in Ontario Canada about 40 minutes from Detroit.. They were stuck on 3600 as I recall.. It was on there all winter and was still on the last time I looked... Might be worth looking into,, making an offer....
  18. That new Kawasaki touring bike has a really good feel to it... Cant remember the name of it but it has a different looking fairing on it,, that bike has a certain good feel about it that I like.. Besides all the stuff already mentioned about the 1st Gens I gotta say,, I would REALLY miss my adjustable bars and leg/foot movement room on any other model.. I like to pull my bars back and in so I can all most lay down and stretch out when I ride.. I have back issues, really really get sore riding in a car after even 3 or 4 hours,, on my 1st Gens set up properly I can ride sun up till sundown (move around, stretch when needed) and be just fine.. Got a buddie with a Strom,, he loves it,, a little to "upright" for me and certainly wouldnt work for wife and I in two-up mode...
  19. I stared and started at that picture,, scratching my head cause it was missing something,, something just not right about it.. Then it hit me RedRider,, it needs a pair of dice painted on the red headlight and a chrome bumper on the front end.. NICE!!
  20. Bill,,, :rotf::rotf::rotf:,,, aint NEVER heard that one before :rotf:!!! THAT certainly sounds like something I would have DEFINITELY been into!!! Something crazy about those days that you,, and others may remember.. I bought a set of brand new 10" (wide) Cragers and L-60's for the rear,, set of 6" SLots, Traction bars and HEADERS from K-MART of all places back in the day.. Bill,, that Cleveland would break those L-60's loose and burn em in second and sqwaak em pretty good in third running a posi.. Indeed,, it was hard on tires but what a blast!!! Reverse in a wheat field with the top down and just let it go :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  21. With a very stern look Puc once again GLARES at this Bongo charector,,, it occures to the Pucster that this sneaky rascal is following him,, chiding him,, goading him into a corner of sorts.. He now realizes that his arch rival is not gonna relent.. Not even "secret" side deals, done in private, seem to evade the undermining ways of BongoBob... The Puc looks deep within his own loving, kind persona for the determination he needs to take on such a cunning adversary.. He stares deeply into his opponents eyes once again,, looking for that sign of weakness that so often accompanies like minded individuals who,, though crafty and unusually intelligent, must have a weakness... All of a sudden in a moment,, a flicker, an almost divine incident happens.. Bongo's cell phone rings and, for a split second, Bob's eyes are distracted as he looks down at his cell phone.. Puc seizes the moment - leaves his paddle sitting on his knee,, glances over to Buddy and, by a slight nod of his head, raises the bid to $40 bucks........
  22. Hmmmmmmm,,,,, if you promise not to let Bongo know I will buy the rights to the Master Thread Killer Award,, give ya 20 bucks to chip in for the cause.. Where there's a will there's a way Buddy!!! Oh my goodness,, now we got a potential side auction going :rotf: This thing could go nuclear....
  23. I gotta jackhammer,,, we could work at night,, post the highway "Closed For Archelogical Explorations).. Can sooooooo relate to all these posts!! Had a 1970 Mach 1, 351 Cleveland, 4 speed, tan interior, Dark Green with black Mach stripes.. Spoilers front and rear, factory side pipes, cool little fake factory hood scoop with "351" emblems,, FACTORY 8 track!!.. Got it in 71 with 12k miles, got married in 80, had first kid in 81, needed cash to get family car,, times were hard (remember that recession?) sold it in 83 for $1500 bucks.... RATSSSSSSSSSS Oh well,, loved the car but LOVE my family wayyyyyyyyyyy more....
  24. What started as a small disruption in regular VR programming has turned into an international debate and has the possibility of disrupting planetary stability for millions, if not billions of earths microbe's, bacteria and virus's..... Eradication of certain species of these small but deadly organisms is the top issue being discussed RIGHT NOW!!! Children/families all over the world will be positively affected by the outcome of this current debate,, like they have in other simular debates such as this one.. Thought someone better post this up so everyone wanting to witness whats going on has a chance to and no one misses this great undertaking.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=85147&page=15 Puc
