  1. Tell you guys one thing,, if my daughter in Sacramento wasnt taking a week of vacation off after the Dalles Rally so her and I can go ride the west coast I WOULD beat foot it back to Orlins and set my stand right on one of those plates!!!!!! How come summer has to be so stinkin short:confused24:
  2. Sheesh DragonSlayer,, what a tuff crowd,, can sure tell these guys didnt watch Batman having a dialog with the Riddler much:confused24: Ok,, I will splain it to ya,, been waiting long enough.. Jesus brought Lazerous back from the dead - Lazerous was "resurrected"... I took your reference of throwing dirt on a thread after it was 4 pages out as meaning it was dead.. People have been bringing back dead threads (resurrecting them) - (like the Y thread) all winter and I cannot tell you how many times I have got caught responding to them before I realised that someone had "resurrected" yet another one!! I got so wrapped up in responding to "dead" and than "resurrected" threads that I felt like I was stuck going round and round in in one of those revolving doors (turn style) - first I think its "alive" (current), then I find out it was "dead and buried" and had been "resurrected",, over and over again,, round and round,, alive/dead/alive/dead/alive/dead/alive/dead,,, like Lazerous caught on an alive/dead turn style.... Didnt mean to confuse ya brother,, this stuff just pops into my head and I put it out there,,,,, got in lots of trouble in my life for that:rotf::rotf::rotf:
  3. You betcha Kirby!!
  4. Gotta say Silvr,, I test rode a Vision 8 ball one time and couldnt get off the thing,, its rideability was off the chart!! I told the rep - AFTER MY 3RD TIME OUT WITH IT - this is the most amazing motorcycle I have EVER ridden - I nicked named it the "Weeble" - as in weebles will wobble but the wont fall down... Have never rode one of the aluminum framed wings but someday.......... Its fun just going from demo ride to demo ride just a playing with da bikes
  5. Indeed Larry,, that is a HUGE step - but an awesome one!! I have been fighting that arthritis thingy for a few years now myself.. Hands, back and feet mixed with cold, wet weather = down for the count - know how ya feel. They said these coming years were gonna be our Golden Years,, good on ya for not waiting for the Gold to sample one of these fine bikes!! All the best in finding some badges, getting her tweeked to your liking and than riding the socks off her!! Welcome to the site of century!! Puc
  6. Right on!!! Gary is right on the money,,, CHECK THIS FIRST - and tire pressures!!
  7. where I was seeing all these great deals on Ventures I kprt commenting about over the winter.. If I remember correctly my response was,, most out of California but lots out of Florida.. Heres a prime example of what I was talking about.. Now given,, the auction aint over and it will be interesting to see where it ends BUT still,,,,,, this economy is gettin old fast.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Royal-Star-2008-yamaha-royal-star-venture-16-k-miles-no-reserve-/111333359633?forcerrptr=true&hash=item19ebfc4011&item=111333359633&pt=US_motorcycles
  8. Me an my big mouth,,, my poor ol beater bike is an 83,,, where do I look Bongo,,, oh well,, its why I named it "Tweeks",, tweek here, tweek there,,, Hey,, I just dropped in a set of Progressives,,, do ya think 1 inch of preload on em is sufficient?
  9. That is FANTASTIC Skid!! What a mighty God we serve!! Prayers Up,, BIG Blessings Down!!
  10. You betcha Money!! Your welcome!! Have fun wearing it out!! Puc
  11. Ummm,,, Mom,,, after 40 plus years of looking at a "shaved" head in the mirror do you really expect me to get overly excited about watching one of my buddies do that to himself :rotf: Now if that rascal could make mine grow back,, THAT I would pay to see:rotf::rotf::rotf:
  12. 27 years bro,, it always amazes me how much people who have been married for that kinda of time begin to think alike,, pretty cool really!! Sooooo,, Haze,,,, when was the last time you checked YOUR Facebook page :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  13. Well?????????? Are you missing??????? :rotf::rotf: Hopefully its not to late to wish you and your wife a VERY Happy Anniversary Haze!!! If it is,,,, where do I send the Funeral Flowers Happy 27th you two!! Puc
  14. What on earth,, are we related or something David?? I have experienced that same scenario lots of times,, and usually associated with getting a "new" bike just like you are saying.. Carrying the thought a little further,, I found that my drop in fuel economy was somehow related to the amount I smiled and the amount I smiled was directly related to how hard I twisted the throttle , almost like my smile servo was triggered by the throttle cable somehow.. For kicks and giggles, you might wanna pull the carb diaphrams and check em, and toss on a carb sync... NOTHING runs like a Yam V-4 (specially a 1st Gen like your new bike) when she's all balanced out,,,, helps that fuel economy too You got LOTS of great advice so far,, gotta great bunch of gear heads around here!! Sounds like your getting that puppy dialed in David!! Good on ya!! Congrats on the new bike and WELCOME to the site!!! Puc
  15. Muay,, might wanna check into a set of progressive springs and a redo on your fork oil.. I use a syringe with a metal suction rod (something I used to set up my Motocross bikes) to get my fork oil equal in each fork.. While, that I know of, the valving in your forks arent adjustable shim stacks (again, that I know of) there is a variety of fork oil weights that can greatly influence stability in corners.. I personally like 12.5 weight in my 1st gens, its a little stiffer but brother it handles pretty good in the twisties.. I know the 1st gens have a dampener adjustment on the rear shock, if yours has a dampener you might wanna try running it at a little stiffer setting.. Go thru the twisties, adjust it, go back thru the same twisties and see if it gets better.. I dont think the 2nd gens have anti dives on em so I wont go there.. Keep in mind that the Concours is much closer to a sport bike than these big ol boys are.. Though set up properly the Ventures are amazing in the corners they have no where near the frame rigidity of a sport bike,, they flex,,, alot... If I were carrying all the xtra weight these things carry I would flex too!! Puc
  16. Thats a new one on me 93,, never heard that before,, THANKS!! Saddlebum, I had a Honda 1100F one time that I was experiencing exactly what your describing,, found out I had the neck bearings just a little to tight,,thing drove me crazy with its weaving.. Hey you guys,, wasnt there a cracked frame issue on our 1st Gens somewhere along the line?? Seems like I remember reading about that somewhere... Might be worth a look see Saddlebum,, unless I was having another senior moment with that thought...
  17. Wow,, you did get a lot done Rbig,, nice job on the deck!! And double nice on the bike!!! That is purrrrdy!!! Me too Ben, perhaps you should post a pic or two of that gorgeous Blonde of yours Ben!!!

  19. Yea but,,, people been resurrecting old threads (like the Y) all winter long,,, I done got suckered into responding to those old threads so many times during the winter I was beginning to feel like Lazerous stuck in a turn style:detective:

  21. KILL, KILL, KILL, SO THEY CAN, LIVE, LIVE, LIVE... Bottom of the ninth,, bases loaded,, two outs, last game of the season, Bongo's team down by one, leagues fastest runner locked up at second base.. Bongo steps to the plate,, his batting average lacking by .005 of topping the current American League leader.. Major League officials know Bongo as an aggressive ball player,, a hard core hitter carrying ball diamond clay between his teeth all the way back from his little league years... The crowd hushes and stares down at this ruthless, but famous Major League player.. Of course,,, the question on everyone mind is,, will this giant of man go for broke, capture his title and smear clay in his opponents teeth or will he sacrifice this years glory for his fellow man.. Sweat drips from Bongo's eyebrow's (good thing he aint Fozzie Bear or he wouldnt be able to see:rotf:),, the pitchers eyes glow red with intent - tight to the inside corner with a curve ball - he knows Bongo has never hit one,, the pitchers two fingers on his right hand wrap around the ball with an eager scratching motion showing his high level of anxiety in facing such a terror of the batters box.. Theres the wind up,, theres the pitch,,, Bongo steps back on his right spiked shoe - drops his bat low and under,, a cracking sound is heard by the crowd as they stand to see where its headed... High it goes,, tight on the line in far right field,, a sacrifice fly for sure!! Bongos team mates on the bags are all staring at the outfield,, they all know that site is faster than sound,, that millisecond of time could make a difference between a tied ball game and a trophy.. In an instant the tag up happens,, the crowd is silent as the third base runner crosses home tieing the game,, eyes stare at the feet of the man from second base.. As he crosses home plate,, the crowed still silent until,, the umps arms go straight out like a flying bird,,,,, safe cries the ump,,, the crowd goes wild!!! Yep,, ol Bongo killed his chances of taking home personal gain but brothers and sisters,,, he sure added life to the team.... $20

  23. Congrats on selling your bike FBI,, I had a feeling there was something different in the world when I woke up this morning,, a sense of someone smiling somewhere,, a sense that someone somewhere had just aquired a V-4 Yam and sure enough, this pops up!! There is a happy camper out there!! FBI,,, the rest of your post makes no sense to me.. I know I am thick skulled but I just don't get the connection between selling your bike and saying goodbye. Now if this site were a little more about motorcycling and less about everyday family living I guess I could see it,,,, hmmmmmm... At any rate,, if you decide leaving is best for you, I bid you nothing but the best in your lifes adventure, the pleasure was truly mine!! Oh yea,, if ya happen to see a bald headed old coot with a pretty girl on the back of a old beat up Yam that is covered with stickers, stop em an say hi,, he would love to meet ya in person!!! Never forget, it takes less facial muscles to smile than to frown, be lazy and keep that Puc
