Hi Rich After raising 4 kids to adulthood with both Tippy and I dumping our hearts out for the kids, we discovered that we had MAJORLY grown apart.. Marriage got so sticky that after +30 years of marriage, divorce papers came out.. After a lot of suffering and serious soul searching on Tippy's part (stupid me,, I caved and went back to drinking - BAD NEWS!!), she found this website called MarriageBuilders dot com.. From there she aquired a book called "His Needs/Her needs" and "Fall In Love, Stay In Love" - ya gotta read em brother!! By the grace of God and a LOT of rediscovering our marriage thru material from MarriageBuilders (like those two books) I stopped drinkin again, we went to work on our marriage and are now a great Marriage growth time - better than ever before!! I will also add,, what you two are experiencing is VERY common and IS the main struggle that causes marriage issues.. I encourage you guys to take a really close look at what I suggested above,, your marriage is worth every ounce of opportunity you can give it to make it a good one - not just one you HAVE to stay in because you made a promise (although I agree with you - we should always keep our vows)!! Well,,, "looks" arent even on my radar with these old beater Yams that are my riders,, I will defer a response on that to folks who know that side of em better.. I have bought and sold bikes for years (clean and shine is a big part of resale).. Its funny but when ya do something for a living the last thing you want to do is do the same thing when your suppose to be having fun.... I will say this,,, I have used a LOT of Pledge on everything but seats and tires throughout the years.. Great running,, long life,, hmmmm,, I would say, besides normal fluid change maintenance and keeping up on high wear items - brakes, tires, wheel bearings.. Dropping in some good progressive springs to save wear on the forks/seals and keeping good fork oil in them (they come stock with fish oil ya know)... The main thing I can think of is keeping track of air leaks in fuel management, carb diaphrams and carb syncing.. Lean conditions can destroy a motor, carb issues can cause all kinds of funny vibrations, imbalances, low performance and are generally not good for an engine......

Way to go Bay,, this will be a blast (really cool responses already!!). In order of ownership, by NO means an exhaustive list for me either (owned a LOT of junkers as a kid).. 1st car, 65 Ford Fairlane Wagon, smoked tranny rolling backwards down a hill and droppin into drive tryin to smoke the tires Rusted out ol Merc Comet, 260 V-8 3 speed on the floor,, had no floorboards - was a riot to drive.. 67 Cougar Dark Green black Vinyl top, 289, 4 speed, cammed up, LOVE its hide away headlights and rear sequencial turn signals.. 1970 Mach 1 Fastback, 351 Cleveland, 4 speed, Dark Green/Black stripes, factory "fake" scoop on hood with "351" on emblem on it, full gauges, headers/sidepipes, Cragors w/L60's rear, slots in front, traction bars, "Night Fever" airbrushed on rear quarter panels,,,, chick magnet - fun car! FUNNEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED WAS: Bought in 76 a 1974 Jeep CJ5, 258 6, 3 speed, chick was trading it in at a local Jeep Dealership for a new one, overheard a conversation between her and the salesman about her trading it in, he went inside for a second and I walked over and told her I would give her cash for her Jeep in the exact amount they were giving her for trade in.. Told her than to take the CASH and apply it toward her purchase of the new one and she would get a better deal on the new one.. Told her to call her Dad and ask him.. She did, I bought it on the spot!! She CRIED when I picked it up, was her BABY! It had just under 20k on it, BONE STOCK.. Thing had NEVER been off road!! Got 18 mpg stock,, than I started on it.. Put "6=8" Split Headers on it, removed stock single barrel (crazy thing had the float bowl mounted toward the front of the vehicle - everytime ya hit a hill at speed it would flood the carb) and intake (on these the intake and exhaust manifold were one piece) and went to the junk yard and scavenged an intake off a 258 ford motor that was separate from the exhaust manifold.. Stuck the coolest little 2 barrel on it you ever saw!! Out a mild street cam in it. Bought a set of 10" wide Chromies for it and stuck a set of 14" wide white letter Goodyear Wranglers on it (not real tall - only added 2" to body lift).. ALso ran Gabriel Highjacker air shocks... In the end it got EXACTLY the same fuel economy that it did as a stock rig.. I had it in water so deep a creek was flowing over the door rails and out the other side, it would FLY in the dunes, pulled more harvested deer out of the woods than I can remember, can still hear the screams of friends standing on the rear seat holding on to the roll bar for dear life, loved the sound of the motor winding up and still miss the flapping of the rag top with the doors off cruising around on a rainy summer nite.. HONORABLE MENTIONS: Several 283 Chevy's (couple wagons included) that got me thru some very financially hard high school years.. Bought as junk/purchased for 20 bucks each (at different time) - all with bad cam lobes that operated the fuel pump.. All got the same treatment, an electric fuel pump that I kept around for just the occasion, and I rodded the last moments of life out them,, destroyed them, took em to the junk yard and got my money back for the next one.. :rotf::rotf:

Welllll,,, cotton picken monsoons we have been having have created what appears to be a no win for our basement/shop.. Got a sump in and it does seem to helping a little but it looks like I may need to add a couple more, running out of time on getting it under control by Thursday:crying: There is ALWAYS a chance that our areas flood conditions will crest (its been almost 24 hours since our last massive T-Storm) and we will still make it down yonder:fingers-crossed-emo but mother nature sure has me:think:. I want to go ahead and send my St. Judes contribution in for our team - "Team Dingy".. I have Paypal and would like to send it out if someone would PM me a Paypal account or post one up.. In Michigan we have this "Catastrophic Fund" fee levied on ALL insured vehicles - cars and bikes - and ALL pay the same amount (last I looked I think it was 165 bucks or so every 6 months JUST FOR THE CF PORTION ON YOUR INS).. The "fund" pays costs over a certain amount when you are injured in an accident... That said, consider this carefully, if you are on your bike and get in a an accident you MUST have a car involved in that accident OR you have no access to the fund:confused24:.. There have been several legal challenges to this stupid setup BUT all have failed,, it seems the insurance companies are hooked up well enough in other arena's that they pretty much can do as they please... Also,, wasnt I just reading on here a little discussion about someone thinking it wasnt necessarily correct to "take advantage" of the insurance companies in buying a bike back, fixing it up, trying to get a clear title for a salvage bike and all that??? NOT TRYING TO START ANYTHING HERE or drag that conversation into this thread, BUT,,,, perhaps part of that comment was based on the fact that Insurance companies DO NOT LOSE (as pointed out by the comment about it being illegal for them to do so),,, we, the consumer pay for everything,, part of that is the rise we see in our policies...
