This will be debated in the truest form at tonites meetngreet.. if you simply must get a burger before the debate results are in I highly suggest you follow CONDORS suggestions as my taste buds have not been normal since eating a burger loaded with jalepeano sauce a few days ago in texas down by the mexican border..

Me n tippy,, we done wore out the pacific west coast of the usa and have been asked to leave.. while I was very impressed with frisco, even though it was considerably smaller than anticpated it was cool.* I looked everywhere for a decent place for an ice cream meet n greet n couldnt find one,, to bad too cause I wanted to make my first ever time of settin up a meetin n greetn really city slickerish with all da bells n whistles to impress people.. if your headed that way, frisco, n lookin for a greetn n meetn place I done scouted it already n can tell ya there aint no ice cream places on either the bay, john knox fresh air or the golden gate bridges..*I also checked highway 1 down from bodega bay, no luc puc! I did find excellent trail grub at a place called blackbear diner in a town known as vacaville on the way home last night, its a ways from highway 1 n frisco bay though.. they , black bear diner, does have ACTUAL corn beef hash! Not the fake stuff from a can but REAL! There may have been some icecream available at john muir national m8nument BUT, THOSE SAN FRANCISCO people had the placebound up tighter than a siezed camshaft on an old 750 honda..*Bottomline,, I have done ran out of time trying to find some super classy high end place and am settling for the best ice cream we have had thus far and nixing the idea of trying to impress anyone! Because I am now known as a guy who shuns creature comforts and lives off raw basics, having the best ice cream is good enough for me,, fine dinin phewy,, good ice cream yaaaaahhooooey! I would like to invite all 12000 plus members on the site to meet us at LEATHERBYS ICE CREAM IN ELK GROVE CALIFORNIA TONIGHT AT 7 PM. the address is 8238 laguna blvd, elk grove ca, 95758.. its fairley easy to find.. coming from our home in michigan, if you get on us31 south bound, follow it to I-94 south to I-80 coming out of indiana, follow I-80 to ca99 and go south on 99. After leaving sacremento you will come to bond/laguna exit. Take exit and turn right and LEATHERBYS will be on your left.. real easy to find! Anyone not coming from michigan will have to find their own directions cause I only know how to get there from where I amfrom... as a side note to this,, so called, colorful interjection into your otherwise normal, stable life I would like to add.. I was fortunate enough to have completed the main purpose to this short, but lively, excurtion across america on an old beat up yamaha venture before getting asked to leave the west coast.. that mission being, FINDING THE BEST DOG GONE BURGER JOINT THIS SIDE OF THE AMERICAN RIVER! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! BUBBLES PLEASE,,,,,,, LADIES N GENTLEMEN,,, LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO,,,, THE SQUEEZE BURGER AND ONLY FOUND AT THE, SQUEEZE IN! Take a look at the pic, look carefully at the yellow around the bun.. that, my friend is CHEEZE,, GRILLED CHEEZE! I am a little wierd but when I grill burgers at home I will spend hours scraping the cheeze out from between the grates,, not because I dont want a messy grill - could care less,, but because I LOVE the taste and texture of the burned grill cheeze.. THESE GUYS AT SQUEEZE IN TOOK THE IDEA RIGHT FROM MY TASTE BUDS! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! hmmmmm,, wonder what the burgers on the east side of the american river are like,,,,,, hmmmmmm... thanks AZ, NV, CA, OR, WA,,,, ITS BEEN FUN! Puc PS,, I ONLY HAVE 5 DOLLARS LEFT SO YOU HAVE TO BUY YOUR OWN ICE CREAM,, WATER AND SARCASTIC COMMENTS ARE FREE OF CHARGE! Look forward to seeing all 12000 of you tonite!

So my grandson and I are cruising along on tweeks,, just having some great guy time when all of a sudden a lady in a car that was stopped at a stopped at a stopped decides she couldnt wait any longer.. as she pulled out, mi caught her wheel movement and stopped and allowed her to proceed.. later my grandson, not old enough to drive yet, asked about what happened.. sitting with my daughter and him, I took some toys cars and a mptorcycle and recreated the scene.. demoing for him how to wheel watch and watch for shadow movement under cars.. he got to see the results first hand of the additional reaction time a driver gets by catching wheel movement and taking immediate evasive action.. one of the things I was having trouble getting across clearly is how a driver can check both ways and still not see a motorcycle approaching.. I was telling him about the computer generated circle deal that someone posted on here a while back and expainitory it was for understanding what we were talking about.. does anyone remember that thread or know where that site is? Thanks in advance for helpin this ol grandpa out! Puc

Wow jim,, thank you for the kind words and encouragement! They are always appreciated.. I gotta say here brother, having a best friend like tippy to share life with COMBINED with a world full of great people like yourself that are waiting to be befriended is like a pot of gold to me! An endless endeavor of loving life.. I am very excited for what is coming at you and your bride and wish you nothing but the best as you folks pursue your dreams.. We had a remarkable thing happen on our recent trip up to mt st helens with a now, best friend for life, cmcoffey shortly after leaving the campsite at mamaloose, which I called mamath moose, campground. As we rode toward st helens in the cold and rain a complete rainbow appeared over the columbia river with one end precisely placed on the highway in front of us, it was breathtaking to say the least! As tech sargent coffey passed thru the rainbow it occurred to me that there really is a pot of gold there.. we later joked about the gold not being there but to me, it was.. remember when your chasing those dreams that its really not about what bike ya ride or how cool it looks to others but about what makes for great memories for the two of you! On a more guy to guy bike lovers note.. something I would like to share with you.. seems how it sounds like we haveva very simular childhood history.. had a piece of steel destroy a new tire on a highway south of johnson city tennessee 3 years ago. Had tippy, fully loaded and tweeks was a handful to ride down.. guy behind us watched it all, stopped to offer help, to us to jims, cycleshop in johnson city. He told the head guy there about watching us, the guy asked about us, told him some of the same stuff you just wrote.. he invited me upstairs to see something i would really appreciate.. the upstairs was thebsame size as the downstairs showroom and shop combined.. after veiwing, and seeing the excitement in my eyes hebtossed me a free jims shirt and thanks for sharing the passion. I wont tell you what i saw up there causebi dont ruin the show for brothers BUT, i will say this. Being as close to johnson city as you are, it would be a great primer for your future endeavors! another one is the curtis museum in new york. A hands on place that kids like you and me can now go and actually touch and play with the machines that started it all.. after getting primed, your wife gets retired and cha hit the highway,, sing the THEN CAME BRONSON THEME and KNOW ol pucs singing right along with ya brother.. Goin down that long lonesome highway,, bound for da mountains n da plains,,,,,,,,,,, puc

THANKS FOR THE UPDATE JOHN! Was hoping all was good! Thanks again for sharing your campsite with tip and I. It was perfect! What a blast camping camping and riding with you. And of course, thanks for rescueing us a few days ago in texas, your a true hero! Ditto on that lone eagle, condor, venturfar, luvdaleathers and others who donated time, surprises and effort in making that rally happen, thank you to each of them.. THAT WAS AN UNFORGETTABLE TIME! Lots and lots of great material for ride report writing this winter! Welcome home John! puc

Son in laws gotta tx200,,, WOW what a piece of equipment! Jackrabbit killin machine! I really like my stuff to go bang and to leave the wonderful smell of burnt powder in the air BUT,, that tx is really impressive! Any of you shooters remember the days as a kid,, never being able to shoot your 410 without pickin up the spent shell and sniffin it? Wow,, been a long time since I thought of that memorie,,, man I miss those days... oppsssss,, highjacked another one, sorry..

Your more than welcome annie! Indeed, that King Vic, Lone Eagle is an amazing person! We had soooo much fun with him,, what a guy.. he led a bunch of us on a wild goose chase up to mt hood where people were snow sking! And showed us this old lodge called timberline,, really really neat place built many years ago.. it was beautiful up there.. vic an his new harley looked really neat with a bunch of yammies trailing behind LOL. goodthing we didnt bump into any hard core hd guys or we might have had to defend our king or something! annie,, an interesting side note on the rally and my Austrailian sticker. Almost everytime we stop I get people staring at the stickers on tweeks from the places we have been.. most of the time I get questions asking if we have been to your homeland and that leads into a discussion about my family down under.. I noticed right away that NOT ONE PERSON ade that comment,, instead it was always something like,, awe I miss Aussie Annie and Quickstep or WOW, you got a sticker from Annie or I cannot wait to meet those guys! no confusion with that bunch! got LOTS of great pics of the man but not on this tablet, gonna be an interesting ride report coming up this winter with a bunch of pic an vids that you might wanna watch for.. I know some of these hammerheads on the site get bored with these tales but you and a few others are like me,, cant get enough of the stuff! good ta hear from ya sista, tell that likeable chap your married to HOWDY for me! Your friend puc

HOW COOL IS THAT JIM! Indeed I get the point! It is amazing the people ya run into! One of the riders I had the honor to ride with at the dalles is riding a bike that was owned by the father of a Star Trek movie star.. his trunk is signed internally by that star! I told tippy after he showed us the signature that I am always AMAZED at people who we run across who have rubbed shoulders with the famous! I wont mention the VR members name who owns the bike, that would be his job, but will say,, in my eyes he is a star too! Yea,, dont I wish it was me who rode with brother steve jim!!! That was keysriders post.. I LOVE the part in that movie you are referring to too! I think that movie is titled THE GREAT ESCAPE, if memory serves me correctly. It also stars James Garne, garner trys to fly I plane out with a blind guy but doesnt make it out either,, GOOD SHOW! I do ave my name on a plaque in the ohio motorcycle hall of fame with an elderly gentleman whos name is ted del solar. Ted is in his mid 80, s and we are very close friends. He has been an enduro racer formany many years and has been written about in several nation dirtbike rags thru the years. Ted has also been a member of THE PENTON OWNERS GROUP, or POG, for many years too. He is a very close friend of John Penton, Founder of Penton Motorcycles which is now KTM Motorcycles. I got invited to speak at a POG/KTM expo in Amhearst Ohio, KTM headquarters, several years ago, rubbed shoulders with John and the wigs from KTM.. Ted and many of those heros from yesteryear had ridden ridden with the likes of Mc Queen, Malcom Smith and Youngblood back in the days when plunger frame bikes were dirtbikes,, unfortunatelly I am to young to have had the honor to have ridden with those older heros of the dirt. Sure remember reading about em when I was a kid in the 60, s riding my bicyclee to the triumph/bsa/harley/ossa/bultaco/ducati shops and drueling over anything with a motor.. cut my racin teeth on afirst year yam dt 250,,, I missed all the really good stuff......l

AWESOME CRAIG! sounds like you are gonna be moteling? The reason I ask is I am terrible with planning destination bound itenerarys and prefer to be able to escape the mountains in early afternoons into the foothills of whatever range I am in.. not to conducive to being inone certain location at any particular time.. the mountains of utah and colorado are unreal in their majestic beauty BUT the afternoon weather systems can also be unreal! Take warm clothes and raingear! you really cannot go wrong with our national park system. If I wete in your shoes I would pick up a park pass and just go park to park till I ran out of time. Staying on the bike is a GREAT plan, just ride your ride snd see the endless sites. The worst parks for traffic IMHO are yellowstone, yosimite, south rim grand canyon, sounds like you wont be in any of them.. I really like the arches, canyonland, great basin, zion, north rim, bryce, moab area and such cause they seem less conjested. If you get on the other side of the rockies from denver almost into grandledge watch for an area called, the grand mesa. If you have time and dont mind traveling about 12 miles of gravel you would LOVE the grand mesa overlook! Unreal mountain AND desert floor views all hfrom one point! craig, a person can a LOT of country in 7 days from the seat of a bike, only need to dismount for food, sleep and potty breaks.. no need to go hiking or wondering around tourist traps,,, that bike seat has everything a man needs,,,, an than some! Have a great, safe trip! puc

Oh my gosh, not stupid at all imho. You just described my ride style mama! Been doing it for years, one of my kids favorite quote of mine that she likes to toss back at me is,, GPS stands for Go Park Somewhere cause we, re riding doesnt daddy LOL.. mama, another of my favorite touring games is flippin the coin at all intersections, tails right, heads left at t intersections.. I have always said, the fun dont really begin till ur lost,, seems like thats always when we find the most intetesting sites and meet the coolest people! Another point, I hate maps, I LOVE stopping and asking directions from locals all over the country,, even being weeks out and thousands of miles from home, no map is best,, as long as your not in a hurry.. the enrichment in our lives from allowing others to assist is usually priceless! Personally,, I commend you yamamama for your ideas and thoughts on the subject! Bythe way, I happen to know the red river gorge area would be where I would head if I lived in cinci and wanted to escape for a breather.. biker could get lost in there, we did,, and have a riot,, we did.. found a little town, asked directions and ended up exploring a cave known only to a few locals,, talk about fun! if you decide to go, I suggest you make a new thread asking BEN ROLLINS for thoughts on it. He lives down yonder, is a great guy and a dear friend thanks to VR.. tell him ol puc sent ya,,,,,, take that back,,,, not sure that the last info imshared with him on his bike was accurate LOL. maybe just mention ya heard he knew bout the red river gorge... whereever ya go, ride safe and have fun,, thats what its all about ride ur ride puc PS,, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY YOU TWO!
