So picture this you guys, a couple of a scraggly bikers from Michigan who you have never met call you and tell you they are broke down near you.. You go and see whats going on, an appoligetic scruffty smelly bug covered ol biker looks you in the eyes and says, sorry to have to disrupt your day, especially with you just having got out of work and all.. what would your response be, would ya be troubled at all? This HERO Bikerjohns 1st response was one of actual delight,, as I recall it went something like this,, ACTUALLY I AM GLAD IT BROKE, I HAVE HAD MY NAME ON THE VR HELP LIST FOR A LONG LONG TIME AND I NEVER GET TO HELP ANYONE! Funny thing was,, I could tell by the look on his face that John was serious! Actually, I gotta add that John was a little perturbed with me about one point.. He was visibly upset that I waited till he was finished with his work day to bother him and he didnt get the chance to tell his boss that his brother had an emergency and he needed to go to his assistance! LOOK IN WEBSTERS UNDER HERO AND YOU WILL READ - SEE BIKERJOHN! John, you are more than welcome my friend forever! Ladies and gentlemen,, now here is a man with one warped sense of humor.. A man who truely needs a neighbor like FlyinFool with a genuine Wisconsin White Wash Machine to help him understand that there are some things that just arent funny!! Hey Bob,, Tip and I were up on the Sonora Pass,, located across the top of Yosemite NP.. We had bumped into a young couple who were hiking the Pacific Crest Trail,, 2600 miles of walking!! After chatting with them a while, Tippy spots some "white wash" under a tree about 50 feet from where we were.. Gets all excited and has to go over and play with the nasty stuff... The young lady hiker laughed,, looked at me and said "aint cha gonna go play in the snow?".. I looked at Tippy, looked back at the young lady and calmly replied, "you can tell who just spent 4 months running a snowblower moving that stuff around and who didnt, I wouldnt touch that nasty stuff for love ner money - AND I DIDNT! Gotta say though Dragonslayer,, I REALLY do appreciate this thread though!! Let it stand as a reminder to all of us poor souls who suffer with this plague upon mankind to GET OUT AND RIDE NOW!

Tippy and I are safely home here in Michigan and I wanted to say THANK YOU to both of you, BikerJohn and Squidley for all you did.. You two are true Texas Hero's in my book!! Your kindness and thoughtfulness in helping Tippy and I out in what could have been a very bad situation will never be forgotten.. Thank you both, and your families, for sharing your homes, hearts, brains, tools, parts and even pets with us! We love you both dearly and COULD NOT have gotten to one of the most important parts of our trip, our daughters graduation, without you two! You and your wifes are a perfect examples of what makes VentureRider the "family" it is and a HUGE example of words being put to action!! I dont know how to recommend you two for some kind of "exceptional member award" here on the site but I gotta say this,, to ol Cowpuc and,, young Tippy (see how I get her to ride with me all those miles) YOU TWO ARE HERO'S FIRST CLASS! When I explained to my daughter, Cappy (her biker name earned thru many miles of riding on the back of an old Yamaha Venture with her ol Cowpuc Father), what had happened and how we never would have gotten to her graduation without you folks she wanted to thank you too.. Her and I came up with this little song for you two!! Hope ya dont find it to dorky but what the heck,, like I always say,, its a flaw in my charector - I just gotta try... Thanks again! Also, might wanna pick up a cable luber and keep em lubed up.. I haved chain lube on my cables for years with very good results! Kinda messy but well worth the time..

Dont know nuttin bout nuttin the rstds darrin but I thought I read somewhere that folks are using harley lowers on them.. know anyone who may have a set you could do some looking at?

HEY,, VENTUREFAR,, YOU OUT THERE BUDDY? Hope your ears are ringing this morning! Heres the deal gang.. a few days ago (seems that way) I noticed that some ying yang had created a thread about a party up in oregon,, at THE DALLES (NOT DALLES OREGON - I stay and stand corrected guys).. sounded like fun so I signed tip n I up.. Venturefar sent a note out gto all us wanna be ironbutt envious rascals that stated something like,, if you have trouble remembering who you are I am willing to make name tags to help you,,,, ok,, maybe not worded quite like that but, as I recall, mine was... being the typy of bum that does have a problem remembering the day, month, year and location of my own existance, ESPECIALLY WHEN BIKING, I thought it best to inquire.. the tags were/are Gorgeous! When I saw a pic of venturefars work I KNEW TWEEKS WOULD BE HEART BROKEN IF SHE HADDA COME HOME WITHOUT ONE. I sent an inquiry to my now, good friend, venturefar thinking he was either gonna think me crazy OR he wouldnt be able to resist.. turns out,, ol puc aint the only one on the site of misfits with a crazystreek! The main reason for this thread is to commend venturefar for his high quality work.. notice, if you will, that even juice filled bug storms from alberta canada and glaicer usa cant bring neils work to a breaking point! This man does awesome work! My hats off to you venturefar for a job well done! Also, that hand made back off whip is beyond question,, the fanciest part of all of tweeks apparal,, followed closely by the venturerider stcker that squidley adorned her with and closely followed by that shiny new lookin stater cover he also rang her bell with! now,, for folks who dont care much for bikes and are bored with all this bike nonsense.. maybe into bird watching? Got news for you,, those birds in north dakota are of the type that you dont have to go looking for.. I bet we dodged over 50 birds while riding the back roads out there! Just cruise along minding your own business and VAROOM,, down they come.. one of them even attempted a high speed nest building manoover inside a vent in the front of tweeks! The feather you see sticking out of the vent is all thats left.. and NO, the bird didnt leave the wire behind,, a different bird named BIKERJOHN had part in that thing,, now a permanent part of tweeks attire.. if you wanna know what da heck that thing is all about I suggest you ask bikerjohn,, my lips are sealed! The last pic on here is for all us patriotic americans,, a good buddy asked me before we leftback in May why the heck I was so dead set on going down to the Alamo.. in his words - aint nothing there but a couple ol buoldings in the middle of a big city.. well,, I was NOT going to see buildings, what I was looking for was a feeling, knowledge of how far this country had come and the price folks like bowie, crockett, travis and a rag tag group of volunteers had paid to get it here! Guess what,, I found it! They spoke as clear to me there as reading or hearing about our modern day fighting men n women of our countrys military does! Yea,,,,,,, REMEMBER THE ALAMO,,, I always will!

Aint nuttin like early morning prayers! PRAYERS UP!

Couple things here first coff, if your seriously gonna go hunting horns ya gotta consider toteing a 16 inch pair of channel locks in ur maintenance department! They are my favorite tool, have used them for everything from emergency bead breakers to, well,,, breakin off roadkill horns! Another is carry a good supply of plastic grocery bags. They make GREAT throw away emergency repair gloves and, they sure keep the stink dowm on the roadkill goodies till ya can deal with them in a cooler setting! got a few minutes, tips still sleeping. Hope I aint boring ya... anyway,, so after tellin tippy I didnt think the horns would make it I smiled and said,, what da heck what da hay, gotta try right? got the channellocks out, snapped em off, walked back to tweeks and tie wrapped em on the rear rack rails.. later that day is when we, strickly by serindipidy - pretty good word usage eay, strolled into Jordan MT and found water AND ICE CREAM. pay attention now cause heres where the story gets more interesting.. left tweeks parked out side next to the main entrance door to the senior center,, ok,, she was in the way a little but I was in a hurry to get to the ice cream.. place was an old cowboy town kinda run down lookin joint and only a few ol cowboys running around any way.. tweeks was out there minding her own business when some 80 year old guy with a cowboy hat and no front teeth comes rushing into the building lookin for the owner of the bike sitting by the door.. I slowley raised my hand,, hoping tweeks hadnt injured some innocent bypasser.. excitedly, the man asked if I knew my biked had picked up a set of antlers along the way.. I laughed and said I knew that.. he got a very serious look on his face and started telling me how dumb us out of towners are, that if I were from montana I would have known that velvet antlers cant be saved,, they are flesh not bone.. I thanked him kindly for the advice,, told him I was gonna stop and by some acrylic clear paint and soak em down real good and see if I could save em till I could get home and maybe soak em in viniger.. he looked at his buddies sitting at the ice cream table listening to the whole conversation and they all started laughing.. looked at me and said,, AINT NO WAY THATS GONNA FLY, YOUR CRAZY! I looked at em all and said ,, its a flaw in my charachter - I just gotta try, and than I smiled and said, you guys have the internet out here? None did.. I said, to bad cause I know a group of people on venturerider.org that would probably agree with you about the crazy part.. Funny thing happened at this point,, I WAS THE ONLY ONE LAUGHING,,,,, guess I got the last laugh! Couple days later we ran across a walmart in a town called belle forche, tip won the guess on how to pronounce that one... I picked up some acrylic and sprayed em down good, so far they aint been to bad, definitly still able to get near tweeks AND can you imagine how pretty that ol girl will be if this works! oh yea,,, while I was sprayin the horns I noticed my helmet was still covered with those nasy bugs from the bugstorm we rode thru coming out of alberta an into glacier montana.. I had an extra montana sticker a state surveyer had givin me so I cleaned a small spot of bugs off the helmet, stuck the sticker on it and embalmed those little critters too! PLUS,, my helmet gotta a fresh coating of sealent that may impress those california bike cops next time I get thru there! COUNT ME IN SARGE! Hi bob! Not sure whether or not we will make it down yonder,, ya never know though.. like last winter - gosh I hate that word - I plan to do another full ride report on this summer putt... if the powers that be havent kicked me off here by than I will post it up so you can at least read about it all if you want.. hey,, your always hounding me about me needing to drag a trailer around,, and txstrugis mentioned the single wheel model,, remember? anyway,, I FINALLY gotta chance to see one of those single wheel models.. noticed these two, see pics, while in deadwood sd. While the two wheel trailer would never work for us cause of ground and side clearance while going thrunthe brush, this single wheel does look interesting.. only thing is, I really dont see the gain inmy hauling capacity,, how bout you? thanks for the well wish! Shasta keep a weathered eye on the ditches.. somewhere in the there is one exactly like it Hellyea that the finder can have for free! Thankfully I had removed bikerjohns extention cord from its bag before it decided to jump out from under the net on the back of tweeks! LOL! MONTANA COFF,,, MONTANA! A little more info... these horns are GORGEOUS IN FULL VELVET. The problem with velvet horns are the outside is acually skin you can move around on the boneish material underneath.. I looked at tippy while standing in the ditch,, sun beatin down on us,, couple cars go by staring at us.. I told her I wasnt sure they would last cause of the velvet on em.. she says,, do what cha want but they zre sure beautiful,,,, what a chick eay! More later,, breaks up and that same biker chick is tuggin at my sleave,,,, ok ok I am coming honey,,, everybody join me singing mustang tippy,, all ya wanna do is ride around tippy,,,,,, ROCK ON YAMMERDAN,,,, ME N YAMMER,, WE KNOW WHATS HAPPENIN DONT WE BRO! Gotta hunch ya just gotta give that 2nd gen a lil more time bro! Followed a guy on one up at mt. St. Helens and it did REAL well in the twisties!

We are having sooooooo much fun with the bikers out here,, LOL! As we headed out to deadwood from sturgis a guy on a harley street glide goes screaming by while in the canyon curves.. tweeks has this thing about watching harleys pass her, especially in the twisties, and I knew what was coming.. Picture if you can a guy on a really really sharp twin cam harley, riding solo with no gear doing everything he can to get away from a couple ol geezers on a beat up ol 83 yam with a nasty dispocition.. as we came to the stop light on mainstreet right in front of the deadwood hd (another place that only sells accessories, no bike for sale at all!) I stayed back behind the gentlemans bike so as not to block the view of anyone trying to see his gorgeous bike.. Surprisingly he motioned for tip n I to pull up beside him.. caustiously, ready to begin an outrun the harley session, I did.. the guy says,, THAT WAS AMAZING! That yamaha seems to run pretty good. I smiled and yea,,,, its a cantankerous ol girl that really dont like being left behind.. he looked tweeks over and replied,,,,, I CAN SEE THAT LOL.. later we were in sturgis and bumped into a couple bikers from harlem ny.. these guys just could not get over tippy and I and more so,, once again,, that be up ol yammie we both love. They were on thier harleys crossing the country too,, once again two of the nicest young guys a person could meet! Hot, well over 100, mid day,, sun beatin on us and tippy notices a gorgeous road kill buck muley laying in the ditch.. she says,, you see dat? I was caught up in trying to convince myself that it wasnt really as hot as it was that she kinda woke me up with her question.. no, what.. big buck dead I ditch she says.. as we parked the bike I could see it was still in velvet! Wish I were home on my laptop,, hard typing on this tab.. Craigs is right on, the cades had a failure problem with the forward bevel gear. There is a plug in the end of the gear shaft that falls out and t loses lube. There have been several solutions tried, rom jb weld to staking the original plug. The ONLY guarenteed solution is using an aftermarket plug, still being produced as far as I know.. The cade wasnt around long enough for susuki to fix the problem.. only other downfall with them or the madura line that I have found thru the years is parts rarity.. His front springs are probably sacked, that causes the bottoming, usually not air pressure related..

Well pete,, its like this,,, I come from a big family and learned very early on that when the ice cream comes out t0 ya best drop what ur doing and gooble cause,,, wellll,,,, cause its ice cream.. never got rid of those childish bad habits sooo... gotta tell ya though my friend,, I was VERY impressed with the west coast bunch that showed up for my first meet n greet for ice cream,,, had a huge turnout and all but a couple of them seem to really have it together when it came to ice cream! We have some southern members who those west coasters would really have trouble with,, down there food just has a tendecy to disappear when it doent get et fast enough,, gotta be quick!.. ya know,, now that I think about it,, I wonder if that is alsowhy more of my southern brothers ride 1st gens too,,, being the faster of the yam v4s,, gettin to the ice cream 1st,, hmmmm.

Flying across the u.s. of a tryin to get to rushmore for the annual fireworks display... thru dozens of examples of why i should have learned from that ol "PHONE FIRST" commercial I should have known better.. got yappin with a guy in upper montana and found out the rushmore works xare permenently banned cause of fire danger.. went back to backroad riding, got late, looked for camp spot, hay bales on roadside,, PERFECT! woke up the next morning to find we were camping on the corner section of a multi million dollar GORGEOUS housing complex LOL People were peddling past out getting thier morning exercise while staring at the ol geezer bikers LOL Got lost,, folks who understand this type of bikin know that gettinlost is actually a good thing, especially if ya carry no map or gps so ya have to stop and TALK to locals.. we needed water and gas and,, being 108 degrees,, maybe a nice cool off.. fund this little town called JORDAN MT. gas station had NO drinkin water,,, oh ohhhh.. Jordans a tiny cowtown, not much there but noticed a senior care building,,, tiny place but I saw a lady come out.. tip went in to ask about water,, some older lady came out, looked at me and said,, WEARE HAVING AN ICE CREAM SPECIAL INSIDE THAT YOUR WECOME TOO! Being the well versed in proper ediquette person that I am I calmly wiped about a half of inch of desert dust offmy face and belly with the shirt I removed from the netting on tweeks back,,, all the while THANKING this 90 year cowgirl for the invite.. I dissappeared into the doorway of the place while stretching a freshly stained shirt over my tanned body so quick even my spiderman riding shoes were shocked.. THESE PEOPLE WERE AWESOME! Tip went to use the young ladies room, came back with a HUGE smile on her face and said,,, you gettin us lost has just paid off BIG TIME again.. She says,, YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE WHAT THEY HAVE BACK THERE! I followed her into the back room and about fell to the ground! It was the COOLEST, BADDEST, NEATEST MOSTEST UNREAL MUSEUM YOU HAVE EVER SEEN! Come to find out, Jordan is world known for its dinasaur digs!,, tip n I got to actually touch the bones of dinasaurs! Besides the cowboy clothing display, veterans display, homestead living displays! 2 THUMBS UP FOR JORDAN MT!
