I love participating in the banter on here.. Its another flaw in my character, I enjoy being harassed almost as much as needling a deserving brother.. Me and Bongo,,, we have known for a good while that the day we met face to face would end up being an extention of that good hearted banter.. What I didnt count on was people like Buckshot coming along and to get that banter going.. During a recent Meet n Greet (RagTop69GS's) where I finally had the pleasure of meeting both these fine gentlemen, my now good friend - Buckshot fellow gets me aside and whispers to me something like "you and I have both heard about Bongo's trike BUT, think about it, have you ever actually seen the bike,, I know I havent"... Knowing how badly Bongo has been wanting to make it into the big time shows on Youtube and how much he appreciates being harrassed, the thought came to me - I wonder what would happen if this discussion took place on video and than mysteriously appeared on YouTube.. Unedited, unphoto chop shopped, just the way it all happened can be seen here: PS, Bongo - you should be thankful that those Canuks are the decent people they are,, I think it was Habfan (I am terrible with names) who actually stood up for you and said he had actually seen your trike!!

Never swapped one on a 2nd Gen but lots of them on a 1st.. Other than getting to the axle I cant imagine there is to much difference between the two.. Ya gotta get the back of the bike up off the ground - not even sure if yours has a center stand? On my 1st Gens I am able to center stand the bike, I place a 2x4 under the centerstand and its perfect for rear tire removal without removing the side stays that the bags hang on.. The Crown Nut on the axle should be on the final gear drive side of the back, or, left side.. Again, on the first gens you only have to remove the right bag and pipe to get the axle out because of this. Right bag and and pipe removed, Crown Nut off, remove the clamp bolt on the end of the swing arm on the right side - it captures the axle.. Probably 12mm.. Before ya pull the axle, look at where the rear caliper hanger locates between the rear wheel and swingarm, there will be a shim between the swingarm and the hanger that will fall when ya pull the ax.. I also pull the single bolt that holds the caliper to the swing arm, not the bolts that attach the caliper to the Hanger itself.. Then when I take the wheel off I just lay the whole hanger apparatus on the swingarm for replacement. Unclamped, the axle should slide right out.. May have to turn the non nutted end with a wrench a little to get it started.. I usually just grab it with my 16 inch channel locks. Catch the priorly mentioned spacer on its way to the ground, wiggle the caliper off the rotor, pull out a little on the wheel and off it comes...

Some of BikerJohn's last words to me before we departed The Dalles Oregon, VentureWest Rally a few days ago were "could you do me favor, please put a new flag on Tweeks".. The flag on Tweeks at the time was one I had rescued from the side of the highway.. I was headed for Sturgis on 90 at the time, and there it layed, calling my name.. Later in that trip is when I met a now good friend of mine, Ranger Major Cloyd Smith,, a great story in itself of which I have written about.. I could hear in John's tone of voice the love he has for our Flag and Country. Of course, I agreed with his asking with the full intent of swapping my worn American Flag out soon.. While at Raggys party yesterday Raggy came to me and asked if I would like a new Flag for Tweeks.. Coulda nocked me over with a stick... I told Raggy about the conversation John and I had had and he totally understood my shock.. I also told him I was really expecting Tweeks next flag to come as a result of another highway rescue BUT, coming from Raggy, it would be perfect!! Raggy agreed to do the removal and the lifting of the new one.. It was a very special moment.. I am like most of you, sensitive about our flag because of what it stands for.. As Raggy and I talked about the offer of the new flag, the subject in this very short video came up.. Watch it and you will see another reason why I could not refuse Raggys offer! There ya go John,, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! THANK YOU RAGTOP69GS!!! PROUDLY SHE WAVES OLD GLORY!! Puc

Cant believe we almost missed this you guys. While, IN NO WAY, am I trying to steal any thunder from Venturous's thread about today being the 45th anniversary of Armstrong's moon walk, today is also another very important day to many of us here on VR.. Today is National Ice Cream Day!! Long live the mighty goodness of the big ol double dip cone of ice cream - specially Banana Nut!!!:ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_thy-vi101212101:ice_thy-vi101212101:ice_yaw-vi121414111:ice_yaw-vi121414111:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644

Sounds like ol Scamper came from a very good home and, thankfully, went to a good home.. Because you did it right Carl, I wouldnt be a bit surprised that Scamper will smile and wave at you on your new bike as she and the new guy she is giving a ride to go flying past you on their new adventure in life... Congrats on the sale! Puc

Hey Bill,, seems how we have met face to face and are good friends now I think I will hijack your thread:rotf::rotf: First off,, take a look at these pics and see if you can help me figure out some things... My memory isnt the best, no where near as good yours.. Did I catch Bongo with his hand in the cookie jar in this first pic? Was Jrichards mad cause Bongo wouldnt share the cookies he just ripped from the jar? Does Raggy have that smirk on his face cause it wasnt his cookiejar that Bongo was sneaking cookies from? Are you pointing out to Carbon One that you think the cookiejar was one that came out of that Red Trike?

First Randy, thanks again for your sacrifice, time and effort in keeping this country free.. I too remember sitting in the living room at home staring at a Black and White TV in total awe of what I was seeing!! Those were really interesting times to experience for a teenage boy of 14 years old.. Gotta agree with you brother,, it sure seems like it was just yesterday... Man, how time flys,,,, almost like time itself is riding a 1st Gen Yam Venture...

Yea,, ok, ya got me on this one Bill.. Just cause you and I have actually met now and we are really good friends I will admit I was stretching the truth and trying to come off as a big spender... When you buy MnM's, Skiddles, Smarties or Jelly Beans in the bulk (some people dont realize every time they buy a little bag of those candies they are buying in bulk) you can usually get them for 50 cents a bag. If you open the bag and count them and dont eat any (people like BongoBob, EasyRider, YammerDan, Condor, FlyingFool, BikerJohn, Squid, CMCoffey,,,,, come to think of it, most folks I know have a real problem with that part) you will usually find at least 100 pieces of candy. I confess,,, technically, when I tear open that bag of Jelly Beans and toss a bean to a kid it's only a half a cent piece of candy not "penny" candy.. In my own defense though,, there have been many many times that I have tossed a kid not one but TWO jelly beans at one time actually making the total toss worth a penny and therefore still qualifying me as a big spender!!!!!!! -
WOW!! What a great party!! Buckshot is wrong, I was only cameratizing 35 percent of the time, the other 65 percent of the time I was eating and talking... Eating and talking at the same time of course... That being said, I happen to have had 1 of only a couple camera's there that I noticed.. I also noticed that those VR members not operating camera's were naturally 100 percent eaters and talkers,, once again at the same time of course.. I am a little tired because of the hard work involved with the camera operations.. Very soon I will post pictures supporting my findings!! RAGTOP69 and JEANNIE,, Tippy and I :clap2::clap2:you both and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! THAT was great time my friends!! It was a pleasure meeting you both AND, of course, all you other eaters and talkers too!!!!!!:cool10: Home safe and sound, hope everyone else is the same! Puc

I have been a major Ford Festiva user/abuser for years.. Always had good luck with em, tough as nails, fabbed up a hitch and drug motorycles on my little flatbed trailer all over the country.. EXCELLENT ON FUEL. I had four of them at one time cause my kids ran em while going to college, had one daughter while doing her premed and working for hospice that put well over 50k on hers in one year, just awesome little cars! Definitely 200k plus stuff! They stopped making them in 93ish and started making the Aspire, we have had 4 of those too of which my son drives one now.. Same motor/tranny as the Festiva, little bigger car.. I found out that those cars actually came from KIA.. Due to this I bought an 05 KIA Spectra, used, had 23k on it and paid 4k for it.. That was 5 or 6 years ago.. Between the kids using it, me hauling bikes on the flatbed behind and the wife chasing around in it, it now has just under 150K trouble free miles.. Gets 34 mpg, Festivas/Aspires 44/40. Have learned that Hyundia and Kia are sisters, would also not be afraid of them.. LOVE the Civics, daughter now drives a 97, GREAT little cars but found exactly what your saying to be true!! If you go Kia watch the timing belt change schedule, they are interference motors and have much more resistance on the valve train than the Festiva 1.3L's.. Never did do a belt on those Festivas/Aspires and NEVER had a failure in THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of miles on em.. Kia, not so much! Totally agree with other poster on the Suzukis, know folks that had very good luck with them but I think I may remember Suzuki car manufacturing now be defunct.. I would check that out before I went that direction for fear of finding parts. I may be wayyyy off in that Bubber but better I am proven wrong than you finding you cant get parts for your pride n joy... Hope this helps somehow Puc
