  1. How to rally, part one,, see pic taken just now:stirthepot: judging from all the vr members I have met thus far,,,, I cant think of ANY of them that need that type of leadership Carl! Maybe a little coaxing to keep the on here but I am not even sure about that:backinmyday: ps, notice the flag behind us in pic,,, got that in there an didnt notice it till I posted on here... some things are just meant to be.....
  2. hmmmmmm,,, restoring a first gen,,, pray that tweeks final journey ends near Elk Grove and you may get a dream come true brother, free bike, no shipping..... Take that back,, cost a Banana Nut cone at Leatherbys.... course, that all rides on whether or not squid happened to be riding out there at the time... ya NEVER know what kinda repair parts that cowboy has in his pockets! Now thats fact Pete,, just ask Tip,, she will ya LOL An interesting thing there Jack, hadnt heard anything about that BUT,,,, I have spent a fair amount of time demoing those puppys. Hit the local demo just right and spent all day in the saddle of the Chief.. Noticed after the bike got good an hot from city driving I felt my left cheek (no ya bunch a lop eared varmints, not the one with beard covering it) getting real warm.. I wonder if their seat problems are some kind of heat damage..... and your right my friend,, just like people, I love em all,, flaw in my charector.... Shoot man,, I even like that great big ugly mud sucker of a Vision (according to some folks),,,, I think it would look really really sharp with a set of antlers and a couple stickers on it. Can see us now brother,,,, pulling into Sturgis on a pair of em setup that way LOL:cool10:
  3. Captn, s log, addendem to mans code of secrets, former rule of "easier to asked forgiveness than get permission" does not apply in application of biker patches.

  8. a late night kentucky mickydeees :rotf: on that one Jeff,,, or best I say,, ya, ll. NOW WE ARE TALKING GANG! THANKS A ZILLION, I feel much better knowing the rally wasnt a hoax:rotf: Oh yea Larry, as a matter of fact, we made it all the way down to central indiana before, WHAMMO, hit a massive storm, pea size hail and pouring rain just bouncing off the windshield! Watched a small tornado forming a few miles away. We rode beside it and turned into the area it had appeared at about 20 minutes later. roads were covered with debris! After it stopped raining a little so we could pull over and still remain half way dry, we pulled into a gas station and yakked with a local. Said he wascutting grass when the storm hit and it bout blew him off his tractor... Bad one for sure! Hoping all is clear in the a.m.,,, one of favorite sayings ya know,, THINGS ALWAYS LOOK BETTER IN THE MORNING! Tips fine, Tweeks has some sticker damage and my spiderman riding boots will never be the same LOL! Hey Larry, thanks for the concern brother! Puc

  14. Dennis - THANKS for including us in the memories of your ride!! Those pictures are GORGEOUS - looks like you folks had a riot!! The pic of the gentleman on the phone with the gas station selling gas for 3.24 a gallon is AWESOME = I sure miss cheap gas!! The lady and her smiling face in the pics makes me wanna get on the bike and head out - my wife (Tippy) has that exact smile on her face when we travel - NOTHING LIKE A HAPPY TOURING PARTNER BROTHER!! Thanks again! Puc PS,, I could not agree more with that shirt blue shirt! NICE!!
  15. I gotta learn to type faster... :rotf:
  16. Hi Ed While its possible your getting a little coolant into the cylinder I highly doubt it.. It just doesnt sound like a coolant related problem.. It sounds to me more like a fuel related problem or maybe dirty plugs.. First swap out the plugs so you have that covered. Also, while you have the covers off to swap out the plugs, in a very dark garage - let the bike idle and watch for electrical leakage on your plug wires, caps and around the coils.. If theres a lighting storm happening, its loosing much needed energy to the plugs.. I have also had plug caps go to high resistance - not a bad idea to replace the caps too unless you are certain they are in good shape - they screw on and off the wires coming from the coils. Fuel related: Without hearing it run its hard to say whether its starving or getting to much fuel.. Spuddering indicates to much fuel, hesitation indicates starvation. Check your air filter and make sure its good and clean so it gets the air in needs. Check the four overflow lines leading back onto to the frame for dampness at the end of each line - indicating your floats are set to high or a sticky float valve. Another good idea for this is to check under the bike after it has set idling for a couple minutes, if you find a small puddle of fuel under it this is a good indicator you have float height/float valve troubles. Have you ever checked your carb diaphrams for cracks or holes? If so and they are good than you are familiar with your carb slides = something else you can do (if its sputtering = running fat) is lower your slide needles some. I recently experienced something very simular with my 83 and lowered my needles 64 thou.. Fairly easy and cheap to do.. Also check your intake manifolds (rubber ones that attach the carbs to head) for cracks, air leaks here can cause hesitation. Another thing you can try is either Seafoam or Chemtool in tank carb clean. I know lots of folks that have had good luck with Seafoam but I have had better luck with the stronger Chemtool stuff myself.. Also, at Walmart, the Chemtool is about half price (3.97) of the Seafoam (7.97).. There is also a dip tank Chemtool carb cleaner that you do not want to confuse with the in tank Chemtool cleaner, this is a 1 gallon container (19.97) - the in tank stuff is (I think) about a 12 oz bottle.. I have used the dip tank very successfully too but this is way more involved (carbs gotta come off - taken all apart and the process needs to be done carefully cause the dip tank stuff is VERY strong and not friendly to rubber and hard on aluminum.. Hopefully this helps somehow getting that MK2 purring and you smiling again! Puc
  17. Hmmm, shoulda read their literature before posting,, wrong again,,, sounds like ya gotta get a "tilt lock" system to stabilize it when parked,, I wonder if that means ya still gotta use a kickstand when the bike is off and its parked.. Almost sounds like it.. If so, I can see where this system may not be the right one for all trike needs... Would still like to demo one with ya Condor,, if for no other reason than going and finding that burger joint you told me about afterwards :fatsmiley: (notice there's two icons there,, that'd be Condor n ol Puc - filled an grinnin...)
  18. RATSSS,,,, Don, I was looking down the list of folks who are SUPPOSE to be at the IR and noticed your name on that list.. I was just getting ready to post a thread titled "When the cats away the mice can play".. Thinking you were gonna be absent for a while I thought I could around here and get away with something sneaky.. Ohhh well,, back to boredom I guess:confused24: So not to be found guilty of being a thread hijacker here,,, I gotta hunch that the lean angle of the this "trike" has more to do with centrifical force and rider input while going into a corner, I bet its very stable when parked or going slow.. I would LOVE to hook up with Condor and go demo one and would be more than happy to test one before he tried it just to make sure they are safe.. All in the name of protecting my gravy covered french fry/ice cream eating good friend Jack of course!! Taking on the devils advocate Puc
  19. WOW, that is interesting.. Sounds like you guys had a blast!! Seems like just yesterday and I was sitting on the beach listening to that music on my transistor radio Mabe!! Puc

  22. WHAT DA HECK YA DOIN IN AN SUV SKID?? Not to or nuttin (wouldnt want to do that) but you kinda got me wondering.. Do those new Harley's come with a in the riding technique section of their owners manuals? Not trying to start anything here, but, I happen to notice a lot of that riding technique being applied every year when we are going to and from the Sturgis Rally,,, always wondered about it.. Be safe out there brother! Puc
  23. That a pretty good size place Woody? Does it look like late comers would find an open camping spot? Any other bikes coming in yet? By reading the sign up sheet it looks like only a few folks are tenting, hope they dont shun ya for being the tent camping type:rotf: Heyyy,, can ya post pics? I LOVE pics,, and stories,, lots of stories!!
  24. Any open camping sites down there Woody? Sounds like its gonna be a wing dinger for sure!!
