Took a step back in time today,, was refreshing but also shocking.. Its amazing how fast things can change. It seems like just yesterday my kids were little and we were living off the land so to speak.. Our home was bordered by over 5 thousand acres of State Land, most of it land locked with old farm fields and stuff.. Years ago while out exploring this vast playground I discovered an abandoned Blueberry patch and spent many hours out there picking berries by the handful and hunting deer.. Tippy had a taste for some of those organic berries today and the season is upon us.. Being the good hubby that I am, I jumped on the Helix and took a ride over to the old playground.. WOW,, was I shocked at how things have changed!!!

I never really did well in Statistical Methods.. To me these stats only show 2 things - either we Americans like to yap a lot or one of us Americans was repeatedly on here looking for himself during the month of July.. Now, that being said, I happen to have met a lot of Canadian's this year and can verify, they were just as social as anybody else,, certainly not introverted..

Find the harness with three white ones in it in the area you describe.. Those are your stator wires.. Look carefully at the terminal where those wires connect, it will be a terminal with only those three wires passing thru it, kind of an off white in color - maybe burnt brown.. I have had a LOT of problems with that terminal getting hot and melting causing issues - check those spade connectors carefully and make sure they are in good shape.. You can test those leads coming from the stator (unplug the terminal and test across the wires leading into the stator housing - not the ones leading toward the recifier).. With the meter set on ohms, put one lead on one white wire and the other lead on another white wire.. As I recall, 3.5 to 7 ohms is about what you should get.. Do the same with the other white wire to either of the the wires you just used - should be the same resistance.. Now check each wire to ground (just touch one wire at a time with a lead from the tester and touch the engine or frame in a bare spot) and you should get no reading.. Does the bike currently run at all? How many miles on her?

:rotf: and that .50 Anti Aircraft shooter would look mighty fine in that scabbard,,, mighty fine Bernie!! I been riding that puppy A LOT with the fake gun in it,, could probably pull off sticking a real one in her now,, even the cops who hang at the local gas station just wave as I pull in... Still wont let into the State Park with it in there though:no-no-no:
-
Now I am taking that to be a Black Powder shooter,,, I really really really hope I am wrong and its one of those outfits that shoot that .50 caliber anti aircraft round,, you know, that one thats good for a mile in accuracy and cost like 4 bucks a round for ammo!!

Wal, I LOVE those old 750 Hondas and have been around them quite a bit.. When the guys from Hondachopper.com helped you with the carb syncing on your Honda did they provide the instrument to do the sync with or do you have the tools? Also, do you have an ohm meter at your disposal?

Ya know,, I did have this problem once Bubber when a space ship passed over us while out at Roswell... Maybe you got caught in a farce field or something:confused24:

Well,,, I dont know nothin about none of this stuff but I do know,, I really really like South Dakota and the people out there.. They deserve 1st place just cause they are nice:bighug: -
Man did I see that coming Walnutz,, I was in the process of writing a response to your initial post and than noticed the post to which Freebird is referring to and stopped the process to see where this thread was going... I encourage you to please read carefully what Freebird is saying, consider that most folks on here are very hard working folks (or retired) from many walks of life who really DO have a LOT to offer but those offerings come about by "freewill" graciousness and love for their fellow man, not as a result of money being paid.. Please reread your first thread here and see if you can pick up on what Freebird is trying to do for you.. I promise, if you can get what he is talking about, work it out and you stick around you WILL be a better man and we will have a better site!! Think about it.. Puc

Fews years ago my daughter and I were coming home from the Tunnel of Trees.. Bike did exactly as you described Bubber.. Stalled on the side of the road in the dark, flashlight out in the dark.. Pressed the magic button and it started back up after sitting for minute.. Stopped at nearest gas station, pulled the battery cover - all looked good EXCEPT I found a wire connector beside the battery box that had slid apart and was not making good connection.. Pushed it back together and made sure its "snap" was in place.. Problem solved. Another time was when my stator went out and the bike was running off the battery, acted like you describe.. Battery gets low on juice and acts like your talking about BUT,, probably not your problem if the battery was able to crank her back up again.. Intermittent problems are always a hassle for me too Bubber..

OH MAN BROTHER,, WISH YOU'LD A SAID SUMTHIN,, I KNOW A GUY THAT MAKES EM IN AN HOUR AND ONLY CHARGES 50 BUCKS :rotf:JUST KIDDING:backinmyday: I know its way to late but FYI for anyone reading this.. Michigan (and I assume the other states too?) offers Enhanced Drivers Licenses, we have them and found them to work GREAT for Canadian border crossing but not into Mexico..
