Tip and I seem to be in the habit of catching Sturgis before/after the rally on a regular basis while fooling around out there (LOVE THAT AREA).. Other than the week before the rally (LOTS of folks choose to start the rally during that week) have always found touring the Blackhills during those non-rally times very doable.. BUT, like Condor has mentioned, next year IS the 75th for them and it could really get interesting. I will say this, I have noticed thru the years that the Sturgis Rally hasnt been nearly as busy (cant say that for sure about this years rally cause we didnt make it back out).. Just seems like the economy has really affected the rally.. Did notice LOTS of Vendor space still available when we came thru there a couple weeks before the rally this year.. Back when I was in management I held "Round Robins" on a regular basis.. When I announced it was a Round Robin meeting it meant that I WANTED everyone in the room to feel free to give their thoughts and ideas on what ever subject we were going to discuss and that there would be no criticism no matter how crazy the idea's were.. Worked pretty dog gone good too.. The great idea's people came up with ALWAYS amazed me , once people felt safe in sharing their ideas it was endless! In the spirit of a good old "Round Robin" I would like to add: Tom, THANKS for taking the time to find the actual Geographic Center of North America - how cool is that!! I dont know a lot about Rugby ND but I do know that there are LOTS of open, non-conjested paths out there (unless that has changed cause of gas/oil stuff going on up there).. Combine that with what Long Tall mentions and that slower paced area might actually work in our favor.. Spring boarding off both your thoughts and Jacks input on Sturgis, we could have a "Rally Point" being as close to the exact N. America center as we could get at a set time,, find a park or something just to gather at and meet new friends and old.. Set up a parade ride around the area in the spirit of VR International Unity instead of actual site seeing.. Could meet at the same Rally Point two days in a row for some elbow room.. Ya know, thinking about this,, it wouldnt even have to be declared the VR International.. It could just be a Family Reunion Ride or a big Meet and Greet or something... All that said, I just like saying hi to people and putting faces with names:rotf:

WOW!! Really really glad you are ok Steve!! Bottom line, you are one fortunate soul to have had the perfect timing for your crash (not that anytime is a good time to fall). Those other drivers on the highway that day should be commended for their good driving standards and thoughtfulness in helping you out. Try draining the float bowls (loosing the drain plugs on the carbs and letting them empty) than refill by turning the key on and off until the bowls refill.. May have picked up some water in your fuel...

I googled malwarebites, went to their actual website and tried their free download - indeed, that one allowed me to remove the stuff it found and things seem to be doing better (I just now had one pop up BUT I was getting 2 for everyone I tried to click off before I ran that program)!! Got a PM from a good friend for another one to try and I am about to give it a shot.. Will let you guys know if it finds other stuff and works:fingers-crossed-emo

HELLPPPPPPPPP Every since I upgraded my Mozilla software I have gotten into a HORNETS nest of pop up stuff.. Hopefully whatever it is, its not contagious here!!! If it is, I apologize for any harm I have done!!! Anyway, I have searched on google for free pop up protection and tried a couple,, GOT NO WHERE!! One of them that I downloaded had me run a scan and came back with over 1900 offensive critters!!! Only problem was, after going thru alllllll the process they wanted me to "join" something by giving them a credit card number BEFORE they would remove the offending stuff.... I DID NOT do so,, fearing even more problems.. I am running window's 7, use Firefox for a browser.. Anyone know of a downloadable free anti pop up package that actually is worth the time and effort? If not, should I go shopping at Best Buy or something for some software and if so, whats the best bang for the buck? OH MY GOSH,, this just occurred to me,,, I hope this goofy computer of mine wasnt to blame for the recent episode we had on here!!!!!!!!! I didnt get a chance to ask Venturous if he knew ~Venturous~ while yapping at Vogel but I did get the lowdown from ~Venturous~ so it all worked out.. It worked out in my favor cause I later had someone explain to me where that waves ~~~~~~~~ key on the keyboard is and now I use it a lot.. I know that you two Venturous's are both really great guys, whether you wave ~~~~ or not and I personally can tell one from the other.. I do see how some people might get confused, especially if they were confused from birth.. I took an 86 Wing in on trade years ago, was a nice bike.. If I recall correctly, Honda tilted the motor or changed something in the 86's that made them much better riders than the previous models.. Way good that the stator has recently been addressed, they were a bugger to statorize.. May want to ask if they also changed the timing belt at the same time, may sound stupid but never assume.. Also, same rules apply as with your Venture, its carburated and an older machine.. Personally, the early wings never fit me ergonomically. Certainly nothing like the 1st Gen Yams.. Never rode a 1500 or an 1800 but I hear the 1800 is unreal.. By the way, make SURE its NOT that 1st year fuel injected model (as I recall that was an 85).. Those things had more gizmo's and wiring in them than the space shuttle.. They are rarer which makes the parts for them even more rarer..

So,, I am guessing that the "G" on the end stands for Geezer there Prairie?? I didnt know that those west coasters, like Jack, preferred to be called a "Supposition" but I know that us older mid westerners are known as Geezers so JAWAG does make sense to me..

e If your tank is rusted up internally just replacing the fuel in it will not help. The tank either has to be replaced or lined. If you remove your seat, you will see a cover on the tank that holds the float gauge for your fuel gauge.. Remove that cover and lift the float gauge out and than you can actually see how bad the tank is internally.. I have tried MANY methods for salvaging rusted tanks and FINALLY found a product that works very well.. Let me know if you are going that route and I will gladly give you details.. The type of syringes really dont matter as long as you can get a good seal into the drain lines.. I use the type that have a beveled nose on them (no needle attachment), if you go to an Ag store where they sell animal care products they should have a variety of syringes.. You may have to use a little imagination in adapting them to the drain hoses depending on the syringes you can find - most hardware stores have cabinets of little tubing connectors to go from one size hose to another.. You may end up with having to use a piece of 1/4 inch gas line off the syringe and then reduce it down with a little plastic reducer that fits into the drain line.. Not sure if those drain screws are available new from Yamaha.. If it were mine I would probably just take prick punch as I mentioned, get em loose and remove them. After getting them out, look at the remaining surface of the screws and see if there is enough material left to cut a flat head screw driver slot in them with my dremel and thin cut off wheel.. h Another strange word this "JAWAS",,, please enlighten me brother Jack:stirthepot:
