Run a test wire between the engine and the grounding system for that circuit and see if its grounding properly..

Never, no not ever, have truer words been spoken!!!! Cant wait to read allllll about it!!! :clap2: If Polaris knew what I know (and many others know) they would start right off by hiring our friend Carbon One to design add on equipment for this new model... Aint no stopping him,, may as well put his brain to work for em!!

Welcome Lovesyeshua!!.. I have experienced those sacked out front springs lots of times, very common and often a result of the bike just sitting with the weight on it (instead of being stored on the centerstand).. It also seems like the leaky fork seal issue goes hand and hand with the sacked out springs, at least in my experience.. I have a hunch that the relaxed condition of the springs puts hydraulic fluid pressure on the seals and that is what causes them to blow.. Like already mentioned, if you order up a set of Progressive Springs and install em with 3/4 of an inch of preload spacers (cut from PVC works fine) your fork spring situation will be good. Easy job - hardest part is breaking the plugs loose at the top of the tubes. The seals themselves are a little more involved - might try this first if your lazy like me.. I use to do a fair amount of dirtbiking and used 35 MM film slid wrapped around the fork tube and slid down between the seal and the tube to rejuvinate (cleans the dirt out of the seals) the seals.. I have used this method successfully on my 1st Gens too.. Doesnt always work but might be worth a try... I also use 3m commercial grade rubber cleaner (its used a LOT in copy machine roller maintenance) that, when used with the 35mm plastic REALLY works wonders on those seals. If you would like I can take a picture of the stuff I use and post it on here.. Congrats on the move to a Venture (especially the faster, better riding 1st Gen - might as well get ya started in the right direction here on VR:stirthepot:), on joining the site and for posting up here in the Watering Hole! Puc

OUTSTANDING!!!! THANK YOU KEV FOR POSTING THIS THREAD!! Hey Zag, I LOVE what you created brother!!:dancefool: Being one that REALLY appreciates custom, one off, endeavors in motorcycle building I truly admire your work Zag! Many many times while attending the Sturgis Rally, I would spend all night sitting on main street yakking with fellow builders, sharing dreams and ideas about builds just like you came out with.. From what I can see in these pics, I like what I see in your frame work, raking of the neck looks like it came out nicely! I like how the bottom frame rails came out parallel to ground - looks good!! I also really really like what you came up with for pipes!! Because of the durability and performance of the Venture I had always planned on chopping one out! THANKS for the inspiration brother!! Hey Prairie, not to sound greedy here but any chance you would have access to a Video that shows how Zags bike sounds with those pipes? I would LOVE to hear it! THIS IS AWESOME - Thanks again Kev for posting this baby up! Puc

I was pickin thru the Michigan Auto Trader at a gas station yesterday and thought I read an ad about a dealership near the Ohio border that has the Slingshot in stock... Tried to find Eileen's handle here on VR so I could pass the info on to her but no luck so I thought I better mention it here..

Well,,, I guess you can no longer say ya never actually seen the little buggers vehicles and NOW your in my boat!! Thanks for snapping that shot ~Venturous~,, maybe NOW folks will believe like we do!! My experience having been around those Home Made Wine sippers is they see em BUT cant produce pictures of what they are seeing so I highly doubt home made wine was part of the alien attack this time.. LOOK AT THE SMILING FACES!!! Heyyyyyyy,,, wait a minute here,,, that sure looks like a feller I know sitting at the end of the table,,,,, only I thought the "Warden" had him slaving over the lawn back home.. What gives?? Also, quick question,, why does that same guy have 2 menu's? Never mind, after a closer examination it appears to just be one big menu:rotf:- no different than the rest of you folks that live by the golden rule - RIDE TO EAT, EAT TO RIDE:cool10: THANKS FOR THE PICS EVERYONE!! PLEASE KEEP IT UP! YA'LL RIDE SAFE AND STAY WELL FED (obviously, didnt have to remind ya'll of that:rotf:).. Puc

Oh my goodness Karl!! THAT is disgusting my friend! NOT to slight your injuries but I am so glad you came out of it as well as you did! By looking at those pictures it appears that your good ol MK2 did do a GREAT job of protecting you. Hope your healing goes well and you recover fully from your injuries! I feel your pain brother! Also wish you NOTHING but the best if you decide to go forward with repairing your bike! Puc

Man I hear ya about the 55 year old prostate business brother and know how ya feel.. I was hoping that somehow, somebody out there had aged differently than me:rotf:and had a story or two of doing something crazy!! Gotta say though, being "older" does have its benefit in that we KNOW that being in pain really aint that much fun:rotf: Truthfully, that Ural SCREAMS at me to jump on it, putt along at 35/40 mph and head cross country for a summer of mountain trail views, resetting valves in abandoned gas stations, sleeping under the stars and sipping homemade lemonaid purchased from kids selling it in some old cowboy town out in the middle of nowhere.. The crazy stuff a youngster of 25 would come up with.. I am with ya TX, those days are long gone for me too but its still fun to dream!! I think its wayyyyy cool that you enjoy the Ural for what it is, I admire you for it my friend!! I also appreciate your comment about the vast amount of people who love the Ural - little kids, young ladies (wink wink) and even old Geezers.. Count me in with the geezers as one who really really likes the idea and the thought of Uralism! Puc

Unlike most of your lives, the life that Tippy and I lead very seldom goes as planned.. As a matter of fact, if there is one thing that I have learned after raising 4 kids is that about the only thing we can count on when planning things is to expect those plans to change.. Not that dissimular from a really good motorcycle road trip of ours actually because, just like getting lost or having a breakdown usually creates the most interesting times, change in life's plans can be the same way.. Take for instance, we planned on being down at the Asheville Rally having fun with our friends in the south at this very moment.. Well,, once again those plans went south (without us - pun intended).. While reading about all the fun those guys are having down there and getting all poochy lipped about not being with them I noticed this thread about the Mackinac Bridge Midnight Ride that was going to begin in Rockford Mi.. Noticing that a couple of great VR guys were planning on doing the ride AND the fact that Rockford is not that far from our home (less than an hour) I said to Tippy - lets seize the moment and go see if we can meet some more new friends!! Away we went.. Got there,, looked at the gas station where I thought I had read they were gonna meet,, some bikes but no Ventures.. Went down to the parking lot, parked Tweeks and started walking around the bikes that had gathered.. Interviewed a parking lot traffic director (great guy - will post that interview soon),, still didnt notice any Ventures.. Finally came across a Venture - thought I had scored (see first pic of that bike - maybe someone knows the owner?).. Chatted with the owner and he said he wasnt a VR member (bummer - nice guy!).. Than he pointed over to a Blue Venture parked a couple bikes behind his and said - I think the owner of that Blue one is.. While walking toward the Blue Venture a voice comes out of the darkness that says - "Cowpuc" and there was a finger pointing at me that was attached to the same body from which the voice came.. I stopped this champ of a gentlemen before he or I said anything else long enough to turn on the video.. It was a pleasure meeting you Randy and having some time to chat before you rode off!! Tippy and I wish you a GREAT adventure up there in the north woods of Michigan my friend!! Ride safe and have fun!! Puc

SIC EM BUBBA!! Oh,, hey Bubba,, better keep an eye on your bike bro,, I just noticed a pic on here where some 2nd gen riders stole a kids tricycle and wrecked it.. Think what they would do if they got their hands on that 1st Gen!!!! :whistling:
-
:rotf::rotf: Horrible, just horrible.. It appears to me that Asheville needs to take another look at their Stop Light needs, I mean really,, THAT is obviously a very busy intersection and NO Stop Light!! If I were a kid and you guys would have stole my tricycle and wrecked it I would have dropped an earth worm into that open mouth!!
-
Or,, maybe those 1st Gens are so kind hearted they dont wanna make all those 2nd Gens down there feel bad with their nimbleness on those gorgeous mountain twisties.... Heyyyyyy,, it just occurred to me,, didnt I hear about a rider down there who left his new Harley home and is riding his 2nd Gen?
-
Cal, apparently it begins at Meijers in Rockford Mi tonight at 11pm.. They ride from there up to Alma for their first "Coffee Stop"... Its technically a Wing ride but, my understanding is they welcome all bikes.. Wait a minute,, let me see if I can google some info and give ya a link.. Yep, here ya go.. http://www.gwrra-mi-g.org/brochure.html

Bad form, baaad form I say,, teasing the Puckster like that and not having a picture or two!! It is possible Roost that you actually did see one of my relatives.. If the bike had deer horns and stickers than its owner has a 90 percent chance of being a member of my family tree... A non horned stickered bike indicates only a 30 percent chance of being so.. Thanks for posting this Rooster,,,,, I, ahhhh,, owe ya one so to speak!
-
Tip and I may try and scoot over to Rockford to see the bikes,, you guys keep an eye open for a 1st Gen with Antelope Horns mounted on the mirrors - if you see us PLEASE flag us down and say HI!! Also, pretty please dont forget your camera's!! Even night shots where all you can see are tail lights are better than nothing!! Ride safe out there! Puc
-
OUTSTANDING YOU GUYS!!! Thanks for the updates, pics included!! Looks like ya'all are having a riot down there!!
-
WOW thats purdy Rick!! I have a serious hard time guessing years of bikes but I am guessing a 2010 Ultra Classic with 14k miles on it.. Gotta try ya know! BEEEEUTIFUL bike what ever it is - THATS what I think!!
-
YEP Cant even imagine Dan,, THANK YOU for your service in the fight for freedom brother!! That said though (and I did mean that with TOTAL sincerity brother),,, wouldnt it be fun to mount an M-60 reward on a 1st Gen, hook up a full can, you ride backwards on the bike and shoot at targets floating in a river while I steer??? :cool10:

Anyone have a golf club holder for their Venture?
cowpuc replied to GG54172's topic in Watering Hole
The kids and I used to play Minibike Soccer when they were little, worked great until the collision happened.. Maybe we need to invent Venture Golf... Played from the seat of a moving bike I think I could finally find interest in Golf if we did!! If nothing else, it would make for some GREAT pics and video's!!- 25 replies
