Finally got the results of my brain and sinus C - scan today,, everything appeared "normal" on the brain side of things (shocking eay) - THANK GOD!!! The scan did show I have some pretty nasty stuff going on in my sinus cavity that my Doctor feels could be a major contributing factor to all this stuff.. For now, it is back on the antibiotics to see if I can get things under control.. I had a hard time believing that Chronic Sinusitis (diagnosis) could cause the stuff I am dealing with but apparently the fatigue, inability to concentrate/focus, smelling weird smells and headaches are pretty common with this stuff.. I told my doctor today that I cant remember the last time I had a Cold and I always thought that was basically what a sinus infection is.. I got corrected and told this stuff is not a "Cold".. Anyway, thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, concerns ya'll!! Puc

Great Vid Bob! Really fitting that you posted this right after our "Memory Ride" day too! I LOVE the old scoots they were riding in honor of their friend too!! Straight out of the 70's and small bikes.. Sure puts the emphasis on the ol "its not about what we ride" dont it.. Really really cool!! Gonna watch the Norton Project when this storms over and our internet is more consistent..

Thoughts and prayers your way Wayne!! That just sounds like no fun at all!!!

I may be wrong on this but I highly doubt it,,, I suspect that you were using a four letter word that rhymes with "toe", not the word "winter".. I wont say it because Flyinfool has an itchy trigger finger It is possible though bum that I did pick on ya anyway,,,,,, sometimes I just get carried away:stirthepot:,,, only around people I love though:stirthepot: Yeaa right,,,,, everyone KNOWS Waukee is straight west of Skegon and when stuff happens it always goes west to east

Just from knowing what kind of Grampa those Grandkids came from (deep thinker and very respectful) I can see the look on their faces when you do Randy:confused24:.. While the youngest pulls you aside and innocently says "Grampa,, does Mr. Puc play Hockey or something" :rotf::rotf:CANT WAIT FOR THE DAY BROTHER!!! Sure is bro,, it sure is... Deep enough hole that it can be scary to stand at the edge and look over - much less actually step in and look around:whistling: Thankfully there are folks like yourself who are willing to step in!!

Right there with ya Bill!! I just finished reading thru this entire thread and found it VERY interesting, to say the least!! I pulled the above quotes because, IMHO, they both lead into what I believe to be some root causes of the reasons for threads like this.. The following is just a pin prick of these root causes - IMHO: When I was a child we were taught, and punished if we didnt obey, some really "different" rules.. Stuff like addressing an adult by "Mr" or "Mrs", a Minister was referred to as Pastor and so on.. It was such a major part of growing up that, to this day, I still refer to some friends parents I grew up with as Mr. and Mrs. Curtis.. Makes me queezy inside to even think of referring to them as "Bill" and "Maude" - bluntly, I CANT.. Its interesting (in a sad kind of way - TO ME) that I can count on 1 hand the amount of times Tippy and I have been introduced to children by their parents as "Mr. and Mrs." in the last 20 years. Its normal and accepted in our society to be introduced to children by our first names and its now the "norm" for children to address adults the same way.. Sooo, WHAT THE HECK HAS THAT GOT TO DO WITH ANYTHING? My heart tells me that this change, over time, has had a deminishing affect on respect for authority, respect for other people and ultimately, respect for ones self.. This is gonna sound nuts but,, I honestly think that, in the end, its tiny little losses of "respect" that somehow are tied directly to what we see going on everyday, all around us in the attitude we have toward one another... Weird eay...

Looks like ya got her under control - GOOD ON YA COFF!! Congrats on the outcome - looks like it coulda been worse!! Speaking electrically,, when you have some time you might wanna check with,,, dog gone it - forgot his name,, the guy you got it from and ask if he knows whether or not the Stator has been updated... There was an update with an oil splash plate and crank end bolt with an oil hole offered that you will want if yours doesnt have one.. Also, take a peek under the left side cover (plastic body), locate the three wire terminal with the stator leads (all white wires), remove that terminal and hard wire it.. That little sucker has caused many many 1st Gen charging issues!! Like you dont have anything else to do:rotf: Thanks for the pics! Puc

Depending on how badly I needed the parts and how rare they are, I would give him call and see if something strange did happen and work something out... What really frustrates me in stuff like you are going thru is that this place (VR) has me spoiled.. I get lulled into thinking what we have going on here is the "norm" for internet sites and THAT can get a person into trouble.....

It sounds slow to me and it also sounds like a cylinder is dragging a little.. Almost like its trying its derndest to emulate a harley (could be hearing things too,, aint been around the 2nd gens enough to really know if I am hearing things)... You havent been parking next to some big twins at work or something have you Venturous Toss a tach on it, adjust idle if necessary and recheck sync.. I had a 1st gen that developed some subtle rough idle crazy stuff one time, found out that my plug wire caps had developed a higher resistance level than spec, replaced the caps and it smoothed right out.. Ohm em out and see what they look like!! Or,,,,, pay no attention to this ol geezer behind the curtain and go out and enjoy your bike:rotf::rotf:

Tires- No Debate!! Just a poll that's all.
cowpuc replied to ENG2242's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Whatever I can find after the desert has eaten whatever I could find the last time I needed a tire!! I personally will steer clear of Metzeler if I have a choice... See pic.. To be fair though,, we tortured that tire unmercifully in heat,, but that was the first tire I had actually delaminate, didnt go flat on us but it sure gave me the creeps when I saw how bad it had gotten.. Later found out that one of my very close friends and his wife had narrowly escaped extreme personal injury (thankfully) when a Metz did something very simular.. Have ridden down my share of flats both front and rear and never ever had another one come "unglued" like this. Even from rolling flat at highway speeds in the desert heat... By the way, we were in California when I replaced the Metz.. Found a Full Bore on Amazon cheap and gave it a shot.. Tire did GREAT and was way cheap, was gone by the time we got home but NO delam! What ever you run, watch those tire pressures. Check em often - a few pounds up or down because of elevation/climate change can really affect handling, tire wear and safety!! No debate intended, just all IMHO:backinmyday: Puc -
Randy, that may have been one of my rattle on answers to someone on here.. I have used http://www.adhuntr.com/ a lot and it seems to be really good.. Hope you find what your looking for bro!! Puc

Its always amazes me when I bump into like minded buddys like you Phoneman... When I find myself on my bike in situations like that my mind defaults to those memories of get away areas too..

Oh come on Dale,, you KNOW me better than that,, you KNOW there aint no way - aint no how I would take offense to that!! As a matter of fact,, tie the fact that my name is Scott and considering the breed of pooch :rotf: You guys are awesome,, THANKS for the laughs!! Tippy and I BOTH got em out of this one!! Now,,, of course, everyone KNOWS that my winter writing hasnt even started yet and the Farmers Almanac says we may be in for another longggggggggggggg winter.. That being said,, threads like this make my fun loving heart really look forward to telling stories of my own of what was a GREAT summer of riding!! And, ahhh,, he does look like me - in a debonair kinda way, unless absolutely necessary PUC DOES NOT RIDE ^ITCH (thanks Dan),,, I actually thought I saw him in the Mens Room bathroom mirror at McDonalds in Gunterville Alabama - da pooch gets around and,,, how many times I gotta tell you guys,,,,, them's SPIDER MAN RIDING BOOTS!!!!

Ahhhh yes,, the good old Honda 350 Scrambler,,, my oh my its been a long time... I remember when I was young and our local Honda shop had a big sale on them in 1972, 380 bucks out the door... Gettin side tracked a little:whistling: Those 350's vent thru the cap, have him run it till its acting up and pop the cap and see if it changes.. Since the carbs have just been serviced and assuming the folks who did the work took the time to do it right: I would take a peek inside the tank and see if he is picking up rust, stick your finger in there and rub around the internal edge of the filler cap and check for rust dust.. An inline filter wont help if the tank is rusty, small stuff will still contaminate the carbs. If you find rust he probably will need to clean the pilot jets again.. Another question.. Hows his battery/electrical system? Those ol Honda's are battery ignition.. Also, might wanna check the valve clearances on her, toss a timing light on her and make sure the points timing is dead on..

GORGEOUS!! CONGRATS MIKE!!!

Gotta agree with Kev here. Sounds like some overloading going on.. A short (grounded circuit) is usually instantaneous, overload takes time for the circuit to build heat. I use a clamp on Amp Probe to check amp draw on the circuits.. Work them one at a time, make sure the one your working on has all devices drawing on the circuit at the same time so your getting a reading of max draw.. In the final count, dont forget to make room for motor start ups on any circuits where motors are involved - they (motors) have momentary increase in amp load on start up.. If your amp load reads high compared to the total amp count from specs (to obtain specs, convert wattage to amperage by dividing the stated wattage by voltage = amps (more ohms law stuff), start unplugging stuff and find the culprit causing the high draw.. It is possible that you have some device(s) wired or designed for 220 and your only supplying 110 volts. This would cause a real heavy amp draw..
