I have been using my signature area as my own little quote zone for awhile now.. It serves as a daily reminder for me of some of the amazing people here on VR and times shared with them. While recently removing a couple of older quotes from my sig to make room for a couple different ones (very hard to do - I love ALL of them and the people they represent) I had an epiphany... I would really enjoy an area on our website filled with quotes that our family members have made and picked up by other members hearing them.. Kind of our own little family quote area, as it were.. Thoughts, ideas,,,,? am I nuts?

WOW BERT,,, WAYYYYYYYY COOL!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!! I am guessing FRANCE,,, only cause I see the word "Paris" in a picture.... Be interesting to know: -Price of bike rental (or did you ship your bike - cost of shipping if you did). -Difference in retail bike prices between here and there. -Did you have to get a French DL. -Did you stay in France or were you able to cross boundry's into other countries. -Do they have "campgrounds"/State Parks for tent camping. Really really neat you got to do that my friend,, you have my admiration and ENVY!! Puc

Motiv,, I know your pain all to well too brother and you have my deepest condolences!! The unconditional love that a dog imparts to a caring owner is nothing short of amazing, making the time your going thru very difficult. May your pain and grief be lessened knowing you have family here who understands and cares! Puc

Indeed Joe, good read!! Always neat to read about new bikes coming around, THANKS for posting this up. When I first started reading about this I noticed the comment of 1/2 a Vette engine,, brother did I get goosebumps!! Seeing the picture of the V-4, thinking 1/2 a 350 Chevy, coming up with 2350cc really got my attention.. Than I noticed it was a 1650 cc build,,, rats.. Some really interesting engineering stuff going on there,,, wish I was Jay Leno - be fun to show up at a VR International with our tent strapped on one of those puppies!!

Takes one to know one Well,,, lets see here,, you could sell your bike and all related accessories and just have a cage.. Of course, there have been others who have tried that and didnt find it a cure... You could go broke and see if not having the xtra 12 bucks would be a cure... Others have tried that and ended up having their way paid for em so that dont work.. I know, I know,,,, you could harrass the daylights out of everyone and try to get kicked off,,, hmmmmm,,, as I recall there was a thread a while back that we tried and tried to get closed by using that apparatus and we couldnt even get a dog gone thread closed by doing so.. I guess that method is hopeless... Matter of fact, that ended up drawing us closer together thru donating to a bunch of hurting kids at St. Judes Children Hospital... Tell ya what,,, as a last ditch effort...... You could even try not washing your bike or your armpits for a week, growing a great big mudsucker of an ugly beard, having a break down in the middle of nowhere and than calling the nearest VR Member for help and see if he will spread the word that the site has a lowlife degenerate weirdo in their midst and will get cha booted:backinmyday: Of course,,,,, that could back fire on ya and get cha in even deeper.. You could end up with a repaired bike, food in your tummy, a really nice hot shower with soap supplied (stepping out of the shower and announcing you smell just like the person who rescued ya will probably only get :rotf:and wont help get cha booted), a really really good nights rest, an invite to stop in anytime AND,, get this,,,, at the end of it all,, a great big smile and final words from the very person you were hoping would have the cure you are talking about saying "I am sooooo glad you broke down here"... BOTTOM LINE MIKE,,, THERE ARE SOME FORKS IN THE ROAD OF LIFE THAT LEAD DOWN A PATH WITH NO TURNAROUNDS AND MY FRIEND,,,, YOU TOOK ONE!!

Probably a baby Cobra from that Shelby Mustang that went flying by ya when you were mistreating that Porsche by lugging it down to 20 MPH:cool10::cool10: Best way to fend off those Cobra's is keep that Porsche revved up and singin!! you can always tell ol Puc is envious when he starts picking on his buddies with NICE cars:rotf:

Hi Worm,, you pose an interesting question and one that many of us,,, older folks,, can relate to,, well at least ol Puc can anyway. Honestly,, I am not so sure you are on the right track in wanting to run on tired boingers.. I wonder if a different approach is something to think about.. Worn out shocks or suspention may "feel" better on your back BUT I can assure you that it wont feel better if those springy things cause your bike to go wacky in a bumpy corner and you end up on the ground.. I dont say that lightly, I say that cause your a family member and I dont wanna see you get hurt, I AM ON YOUR SIDE!! Maybe a real close look at some seat mods and handlebar positioning mods are really what you need to address.. Get your seating position and arms in the closest to perfect ergonomically for YOU, no matter how goofy it looks, so when the suspention on your bike is doing its thing you are relaxed and confident that it can handle it.. There are a number of seat people around, at least one on our site who does a really good job! Depending on your inseam, you could maybe sit on and support your back with 4 inches of memory foam - might sound crazy but what the heck brother!! I have the bars on my 83 adjusted back and down,, when I ride for more than few hours straight (and do a lot - even after 5 back surgeries!!) I do so almost in a laydown position,, leaned back on the wife and just able to see over the dash.. I have found that this position enables me to ride for hours and hours - looks goofy but I dont care... If I sit up, in the "normal" ride position my back is doomed after a very short time.. Laying down,, 800 mile days are still normal days for this ol guy.. If that doesnt sound like a direction you wanna go.. Gotta say, after seeing what I have seen thru the years as a result of people running bad shocks (another something I have seen tried is low air pressures in the tires - DONT DO IT!!) and if I were in your shoes, I would test ride all kinds of different bikes and find the breed that meets my body's needs for comfort and fun all while having good suspention and a manageable weight.. In my case, if it meant building another 18" over springer chopper with 8" travel rear air shocks and a 6" thick King/Queen seat so it rode like a pillow I would do it.. THAN I WOULD STRAP MY GEAR ON THAT HOMEMADE CONTRAPTION AND STILL HANG OUT WITH THIS GREAT VR GROUP!!!! Its all about FUN my friend,, and being beat up and unable to ride aint NO fun!! Hope this helps somehow!! Puc

Good on ya bro for finding that critter!! You really got off pretty good ya know,, I remember very vividly one time I was working on the same kind of situation only my wild ground found its path thru the wedding band on my finger.. The current flow thru the gold turned that band into a ring of fire.. Smelled just like chicken cookin.. I have a permanent scar wedding band under my wedding band now,, pretty cool scar but it took a long long time to heal... Matter of fact,, the part where it went to the bone took over a year to grow back... I got lucky too though,, when it burnt it left a swath about a 1/4 inch wide on the pinky side of the finger for blood to flow thru,, otherwise I would be one less finger and wearing my wedding band on my bird finger... Not a very nice thing to think about really,,,,, or even to say for that matter.....

Owe Joe,, that makes my shoulder hurt just reading! Just occurred to me,,,, I had the same kinda stuff going though and found out it was actually the pain killers in my case that were causing an optical dillusion LOL:rotf:a

Check the kickstand for looseness where it pivots at the frame Mike. I have noticed that play in that joint can equal a lot of extra lean when on the stand. Be aware that if you try and tighten it with the bolt going thru the stand that this bolt shoulders against the inner stand journal and WILL break fairly easily at the shoulder! I have used a shim between the head of the bolt and the outside of the stand to pull the journal back to new spec. If the hole thru the stand iss oblonged you will have to buy new or fill with weld and redrill.. Also, dont forget that there is a big difference in them if one had progressives and one didnt. Or even in preload on the progressives. That can and will make a big difference in handling too! Congrats on the new bike brother! Puc from my tablet so forgive me for typos!

Though not a permanent solution, that lil piece of knowledge can get cha out of a bad situation! It sure as heck beats trying to push one of these great big loaded down camels uphill on a two track out of a canyon when its 106 degrees:backinmyday:

That Tippy of mine,, what a lady!! Back when I was in my early 20's I worked at a local school.. They had a Kindergarten teacher there who I use to spy on thru her classroom door.. I would watch her play and work with her kids. She would set on the floor with kids sprawled out on her lap, reading em stories and such.. She had this mysterious way about her of holding the attention of those children, almost angelic as she smiled at each one of them.. While I am sure the reasons for attentiveness on their part was not the same as that of their peeping Puc, she definitely had his undivided attention too!! I didnt realize this at the time but would find out later that Kindergarten teachers have other interests besides little children.. I rode a 1978 Harley Lowrider at the time, not exactly a 2 up touring kinda bike but it did have a pillion and a sissy bar so I thought what the heck - I will ask... She smiled that gorgeous smile as I tossed an old chair cushion over the pillion and we rode off in real comfort.. I could hear her giggling as we rode the Northern Michigan trails and two-tracks on that ol Shovelhead.. Tip had no riding experience prior to these outings, something I found very interesting cause she was a very gifted passenger.. Very relaxed, always seem to follow my leaning body and never complaining,, always laughing and smiling.. I remember one time we headed out for a tour up to the Mackinaw bridge.. Packed for the day with snowmobile suits (never ever ever ride Northern Michigan without warm clothes), sweatshirts and all that,, we headed out.. Crossed the state and rode up the east side along the Lake Huron shoreline.. Got up above Alpena on a big off camber sweeper and the front tire of the bike decided it no longer liked the air that was in it.. The tire reached out and picked up something in the road and stabbed itself,, it wanted the air out of itself that bad!! I yelled back to Tippy to sit real still cause we had a flat.. She never moved or said a word as I worked the bike down to a stop by carefully applying the rear brake while carefully feeding it throttle against the clutch to maintain gyro.. When we got the bike stopped, I stepped off and looked at Tippy,, she had a big smile on her face and calmly said - GOOD JOB SWEETHEART and she hugged me!! About a block away was some construction joint,, almost looked like a gypsum place that made Drywall or something as I recall.. Anyway, we managed to get the bike into their lot, front tire off, snagged a ride into town, got a tire, back together.. We pulled into the Bridge View parking after crossing the Big Mack,, me all covered with grease, the bike breaking in a new tire on the grating from crossing the bridge and her with this great big smile on her pretty face.... Short time later she decided that she could see herself as Mrs. Cowpuc for the rest of her life, she took to motherhood and wifingdom just like she did to riding on the back of that ol Harley.. Even thru many other "flat tires" in the lives of a man and women raising four kids, thru sickness and health, hard times and good she has somehow always managed to maintain that gorgeous smile of hers.. 34 years and she is still smiling,, that Tippy of mine,, what a lady!!! HAPPY 34th ANNIVERSARY SWEETHEART!!

Awe,,, just got back on and now I feel bad.. Hopefully you all had a GREAT Type N Greet!! One of these nights we will show em how to plug up Cyber Space Mama!! (like this bunch of earlobes need any assistance with that:bighug: ) -
I am still just plain speechless when I hear of your history involving 9/11 Barry. I just cant even imagine!!! You have no idea how thankful Tippy and I are that you made it through all you did being right there at ground zero and did not develop a scornful attitude.. To survive is one thing, to survive and go on living a great life and loving your fellow man is heroic my friend!!

THAT will come in mighty handy Jack,, mighty handy!! Just think,, you will be able to take video's (maybe even still shots!!) even while gobbling down greasy gravy covered french fries AND while protecting alllll that Banana Nut Ice Cream!! Yeaaa,, ok,,, will also be nice for taking vids of your riding buddies too but, as we both know,, that is secondary.. VERY nice find brother!!

Extremely Lonely Woman All by herself in chat room now!
cowpuc replied to Yama Mama's topic in Watering Hole
Well,,, I was just there,, had a really really good discussion with me, myself and I,,,, wore out my fingers and worked up a good appetite... I talked to me about 9/11, bikes, FOOD (of course) and rain we are having.. Didnt talk much about Football cause thats not really my scene and I didnt want to use up all the cyber space allocated to such craziness.. -
Thanks for that amazing story Gary and THANK YOU for this thread!! Also THANKS to all our free world service men and women who are serving right now, hunting those low life scoundrels who brought us war, murdered those innocent people and continue to perpetrate such atrocities on our way of life.. My mother was just a little girl when Pearl Harbor was blind sided years ago. Her birthday is December 8th and, because of the extreme trauma of Japans actions against us and losing a birthday party as a child, can remember well EXACTLY where and what she was doing when the news that we had been attacked happened.. I have had many discussions with her about it thru the years but NEVER really understood the deep emotions connected with such a horrendous thing until that filth did what they did on 9/11. Tippy and I had suffered a house fire in our home in Ravenna about 4 weeks before the attack happened. On 9/11 I was curled up on a couch in our living room watching TV, half the living room area was blocked off with plastic so drywall dust couldnt get into the kitchen.. Tippy and the kids were sleeping in a trailer we had gotten to live in while the house was being remodeled.. All of a sudden a news break came on with pictures of the 1st Tower that had been hit coming on.. Thinking it was an accident of some sort, my mind instantly went into feeling really really sorry for those folks in NYC who were suffering.. I went and got Tippy and we watched in horror as the second plane did its unforgettable damage.. INSTANTLY I SCREAMED - "THATS AN ACT OF WAR" - "WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!!".. I now KNOW what my mom and millions of other Americans felt like on December 7th, 1941. I will never wonder again how people, like my mom, can have such vivid memories of times so long ago. I will never forget the memories of 9/11/2001 - truly a day of infamy for all of us who appreciate living in our free society!!
