Tippy woulda walked home, got on Craigslist and had the car sold before I got there had that been us.. Personally I dont mind em,,,,,, and really dont mind given em a lift as long as they are in a box or something... you sure have some weird stuff happen Rooster!

Owe Joe,, that makes my shoulder hurt just reading! Just occurred to me,,,, I had the same kinda stuff going though and found out it was actually the pain killers in my case that were causing an optical dillusion LOL:rotf:a

Check the kickstand for looseness where it pivots at the frame Mike. I have noticed that play in that joint can equal a lot of extra lean when on the stand. Be aware that if you try and tighten it with the bolt going thru the stand that this bolt shoulders against the inner stand journal and WILL break fairly easily at the shoulder! I have used a shim between the head of the bolt and the outside of the stand to pull the journal back to new spec. If the hole thru the stand iss oblonged you will have to buy new or fill with weld and redrill.. Also, dont forget that there is a big difference in them if one had progressives and one didnt. Or even in preload on the progressives. That can and will make a big difference in handling too! Congrats on the new bike brother! Puc from my tablet so forgive me for typos!

Though not a permanent solution, that lil piece of knowledge can get cha out of a bad situation! It sure as heck beats trying to push one of these great big loaded down camels uphill on a two track out of a canyon when its 106 degrees:backinmyday:

That Tippy of mine,, what a lady!! Back when I was in my early 20's I worked at a local school.. They had a Kindergarten teacher there who I use to spy on thru her classroom door.. I would watch her play and work with her kids. She would set on the floor with kids sprawled out on her lap, reading em stories and such.. She had this mysterious way about her of holding the attention of those children, almost angelic as she smiled at each one of them.. While I am sure the reasons for attentiveness on their part was not the same as that of their peeping Puc, she definitely had his undivided attention too!! I didnt realize this at the time but would find out later that Kindergarten teachers have other interests besides little children.. I rode a 1978 Harley Lowrider at the time, not exactly a 2 up touring kinda bike but it did have a pillion and a sissy bar so I thought what the heck - I will ask... She smiled that gorgeous smile as I tossed an old chair cushion over the pillion and we rode off in real comfort.. I could hear her giggling as we rode the Northern Michigan trails and two-tracks on that ol Shovelhead.. Tip had no riding experience prior to these outings, something I found very interesting cause she was a very gifted passenger.. Very relaxed, always seem to follow my leaning body and never complaining,, always laughing and smiling.. I remember one time we headed out for a tour up to the Mackinaw bridge.. Packed for the day with snowmobile suits (never ever ever ride Northern Michigan without warm clothes), sweatshirts and all that,, we headed out.. Crossed the state and rode up the east side along the Lake Huron shoreline.. Got up above Alpena on a big off camber sweeper and the front tire of the bike decided it no longer liked the air that was in it.. The tire reached out and picked up something in the road and stabbed itself,, it wanted the air out of itself that bad!! I yelled back to Tippy to sit real still cause we had a flat.. She never moved or said a word as I worked the bike down to a stop by carefully applying the rear brake while carefully feeding it throttle against the clutch to maintain gyro.. When we got the bike stopped, I stepped off and looked at Tippy,, she had a big smile on her face and calmly said - GOOD JOB SWEETHEART and she hugged me!! About a block away was some construction joint,, almost looked like a gypsum place that made Drywall or something as I recall.. Anyway, we managed to get the bike into their lot, front tire off, snagged a ride into town, got a tire, back together.. We pulled into the Bridge View parking after crossing the Big Mack,, me all covered with grease, the bike breaking in a new tire on the grating from crossing the bridge and her with this great big smile on her pretty face.... Short time later she decided that she could see herself as Mrs. Cowpuc for the rest of her life, she took to motherhood and wifingdom just like she did to riding on the back of that ol Harley.. Even thru many other "flat tires" in the lives of a man and women raising four kids, thru sickness and health, hard times and good she has somehow always managed to maintain that gorgeous smile of hers.. 34 years and she is still smiling,, that Tippy of mine,, what a lady!!! HAPPY 34th ANNIVERSARY SWEETHEART!!

I am still just plain speechless when I hear of your history involving 9/11 Barry. I just cant even imagine!!! You have no idea how thankful Tippy and I are that you made it through all you did being right there at ground zero and did not develop a scornful attitude.. To survive is one thing, to survive and go on living a great life and loving your fellow man is heroic my friend!!

THAT will come in mighty handy Jack,, mighty handy!! Just think,, you will be able to take video's (maybe even still shots!!) even while gobbling down greasy gravy covered french fries AND while protecting alllll that Banana Nut Ice Cream!! Yeaaa,, ok,,, will also be nice for taking vids of your riding buddies too but, as we both know,, that is secondary.. VERY nice find brother!!

Extremely Lonely Woman All by herself in chat room now!
cowpuc replied to Yama Mama's topic in Watering Hole
Well,,, I was just there,, had a really really good discussion with me, myself and I,,,, wore out my fingers and worked up a good appetite... I talked to me about 9/11, bikes, FOOD (of course) and rain we are having.. Didnt talk much about Football cause thats not really my scene and I didnt want to use up all the cyber space allocated to such craziness.. -
Thanks for that amazing story Gary and THANK YOU for this thread!! Also THANKS to all our free world service men and women who are serving right now, hunting those low life scoundrels who brought us war, murdered those innocent people and continue to perpetrate such atrocities on our way of life.. My mother was just a little girl when Pearl Harbor was blind sided years ago. Her birthday is December 8th and, because of the extreme trauma of Japans actions against us and losing a birthday party as a child, can remember well EXACTLY where and what she was doing when the news that we had been attacked happened.. I have had many discussions with her about it thru the years but NEVER really understood the deep emotions connected with such a horrendous thing until that filth did what they did on 9/11. Tippy and I had suffered a house fire in our home in Ravenna about 4 weeks before the attack happened. On 9/11 I was curled up on a couch in our living room watching TV, half the living room area was blocked off with plastic so drywall dust couldnt get into the kitchen.. Tippy and the kids were sleeping in a trailer we had gotten to live in while the house was being remodeled.. All of a sudden a news break came on with pictures of the 1st Tower that had been hit coming on.. Thinking it was an accident of some sort, my mind instantly went into feeling really really sorry for those folks in NYC who were suffering.. I went and got Tippy and we watched in horror as the second plane did its unforgettable damage.. INSTANTLY I SCREAMED - "THATS AN ACT OF WAR" - "WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!!".. I now KNOW what my mom and millions of other Americans felt like on December 7th, 1941. I will never wonder again how people, like my mom, can have such vivid memories of times so long ago. I will never forget the memories of 9/11/2001 - truly a day of infamy for all of us who appreciate living in our free society!!

Is it possible that the new filter is a oil dampened filter that he has too much oil on??

Just from the hip having never worked on a V-Star 1100 but having worked on a few Virago's and others... May wanna take a peek at the carb diaphrams and vacuum lines.. Also, If I had been told all that work had been done and then discovered that the guy had cheated my buddy on a carb job, I would begin with the basics and check his other work.. Do a quick compression test just to check the mechanics skills on valve work, check the vacuum lines for proper placement and so on. Also,, if that model still has the Vacuum operated fuel petcock you might wanna check its operation.. If it does, pull the vacuum line off the petcock and see if there is fuel in it - if so ya got a bad diaphram in the petcock..

The Cannonball is AMAZING!! We followed em back in 2012 and had a BLAST - well worth the time and effort! An interesting thing that I learned by doing so was that not all these folks are followed by support teams and the like.. Some of them are just everyday kinda people out for an adventure,, just fellow gearheaded kinda folk livin off the land so to speak.. ALL great people:bighug: Got to make GREAT friends, fixed a stranded 29 Harley JD, heard many many great tales PLUS seeing a rolling bike museum was PRICELESS!! GREAT THREAD Bob!! Go find em you guys if ya got the time - you WILL be glad you did!!

If its pretty much all the time and not just a freak thing that you smelled during certain wind conditions, I would bet on the windshield.. I have ridden a few bikes with oversized windshields (bought/sold a 93 Wing that had a MASSIVE shield on it - did exactly what your saying).. I have seen windshield vents out there, I wouldnt be surprised that a set of those may help.. Another thing that would help would be exhaust turn down tips but I have no idea whether they make em for an RSV... On a positive note,, I bet your wife really likes the added protection of that shield!! Welcome to VR Motiv! Puc

Truthfully Kev,, I am soooo impressed with the modern day motorcycles and especially our Ventures, I would be happy if Yamaha just started reproducing the 83/84 1st Gens.. They were plenty fast, the most cuddly 2 up bike ever made - lay back and cruise for hours and hours, straighten the twisties like on rails and I even LOVED the colors!! Yessirreee,, just tweek the trannys, stators, clutch and brakes,,, crank em out for 10 grand a piece and I would order one!! I would even want a cassette player on mine!! If I had one wish for all manufactures, I would personally wish they would find a way to incorporate some form of reflective material (like the stuff you see on road worker vests) into their bike schemes.. I have often thought that thru the years.. On all front, rear and both sides.. Maybe even a totally reflective glass body Dont mind me,, I am just really really tired of people getting hurt out there:bighug:

Dont let em get cha brother,,, that Suzi/Kawi merger happened years ago and its going strong to this day.. I find it interesting that they duplicate models (different colors to match the names though), obviously taking advantage of name strength in demographic areas.. Now toss that crow away and enjoy some fried chicken for your ol pal will ya:bighug: June 6, 2002 Irvine, CA - (MCNW) Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. has unveiled its 2003 off-road motorcycle and all terrain vehicle (ATV) line-up to a gathering of media serving those recreational vehicle categories. The company also took advantage of the product presentation to clarify its position regarding the announcement made in Japan last year of a strategic alliance between Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Suzuki Motor Corporation. Kawasaki executives provided an overview of favorable market conditions in the off-road motorcycle category and showed a full complement of two-wheeled units to meet what they see as a significant industry-wide sales surge in the next two years. Models introduced included competition, enduro, and dual purpose motorcycles. The company is equally bullish regarding the expanding ATV market, and sees industry retail sales for the four-wheeled vehicles moving close to 900,000 units by the end of next year. That would represent twice the total number of units retailed in 1998. The most rapidly growing segments in the ATV area have been in the youth-sized and sport categories during the past 12 months, according to the company. Kawasaki's latest introductions are weighted to meet those consumer preferences, said Bob Shepard, Executive Vice President, Marketing Group. The alliance between Kawasaki and Suzuki is intended to increase competitiveness and profitability on a worldwide basis for both brands. Cooperation in development, supplying OEM products and commonizing and purchasing of parts compliments each other's business resources.

Hmmmmmmmm,,,, so,, how much is your bail this time ya troublemaker? I know a couple fellers down there who are members here that would probably volunteer to come get cha, problem is if they did they would probably be sharing a cell with ya.. Ya right:thumbdown: That scene would have went down like this ,,, "man these things are AWESOME,, hard to explain,,, tell ya what, climb on my cruiser and I will jump in yours and follow ya with the lights flashing and siren on just to give you a good feel for what riding my bike is like" :rotf::rotf::rotf: GREAT PICTURE THOUGH GARY!!

:rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: Laughed till I got tears in my eyes on that Diddy!! However, PLEASE know I am not laughing AT you but with you brother 1%er!! Interesting thing about our club,, we dont need no 3 part patch to KNOW we are members and our swollen knuckles aint from fightin! Bronco - thanks for sharing your story!! Bottom line in the "Clubs", especially for recruitment purposes, is the offering of a sense of belonging/security/acceptance/respect/pride and having fun with "Family".. Things we all have need of as human beings. Many folks who get involved are shocked to find out afterwards how difficult it can be to recant their membership if/when they find out they no longer find those things fulfilled.. I am happy for you and proud of you that you found your way out and to our family here on VR.. There are many great people on the site from all walks of life that, hopefully, you will take the time and meet. Just like the rest of us, whether young or old, I also hope you find your time with us very fulfilling and rewarding! Puc Truthfully, I think its just nature of the beast Don being an air-cooled big twin.. Tippy and I have spent a LOT of hours on the Ultra Classic Limited (103") and ridden many miles with our friends that own it and can attest to exactly what you have found.. Just an opinion, I think that HD (like everyone else) chasing the big bore idea (74" - 80" - 88" - 95" - 96" - 103" - 110") and running em leaner (fuel injection) has not helped with the heat at all.. Personally, I think the coolest running HD I have ever owned and put a LOT of cross country miles on was my 78 Shovel with an oil cooler.. It ran WAYYYYY cooler than these new ones do!! Tell ya one thing HD has done right in helping with the heat my friend.. Moving that oil tank down from the right hand side of the fuel tank like on this ol WLA is a MAJOR improvement!! 90 degree summer day riding with that HOT 50 weight oil flowing like 10 weight can make your thigh feel like a thigh from Kentucky Fried Chicken!!
